On BMF, I also love the fact that the Son is playing his father's real life story in the movie. That was awesome. I guess that's what 50 cents want to achieve in Ghost III Raising Kanan, cuz that Mekai Curtis really looks like Curtis Jackson .


Meech would definitely be a big star if he maintains and improve this performance in the future. Especially knowing that's his first screen appearance, he really tried. He's better than "Kannan and Tariq."

How much do you pay a bad writer?

I entered the thread to see a reason of what could warrant such low pay, only to see none.

And to think that he wants a pro writer at that rate is laughable and ridiculous. Pro writers ordinarily would charge way more than that cos they are confident of their work. He'll only attract hungry unprofessional writers with that rate. I am a writer myself, and I won't stoop so low to collect below 3.5/4N per word.

That being said. What's your idea of a good pay per word for good writers?

Well, we all know that most of the original clients are foreigners, and they pay in foreign currencies (dollar/euro/pounds).

Note, there are also local blogs that might want to employ writers. For local blogs, I believe a minimum of #2 - #3 per word is ideal.

If one is writing 2000 words every day, that's between 120k to 180k per month. If Sunday is free, that's between 100k to 150k per month.

A 2k words will take an average or good writer between 4 to 7hrs to write; I believe that's fair in the Nigerian context.

However, when it comes to foreign clients, I believe a minimum of $10 to $15 is okay for 1000 words.

Why? Because average unskilled labor in the US takes a minimum of $7 per hour. At the same time, a 1000 words article will take nothing less than 2hrs from you, if not more. That's like $5 - $7per hour for your skills.

But then again, these things are peculiar. The above rate should be for a usual blog post, not some research and technical content topics like Casino, Automobiles, Health, etc., or special contents like SOP, Assignment, etc.

Also, if it is copywriting, it's another different ball game.

Some articles will require you to infuse different but many keywords, including html tags, mehn! one should bill them o.

In short, the more difficult the job appears, the higher one should demand pay. Short ETA too should come with extra pay.

As for Nigerian clients (I mean the middlemen here), I believe the minimum should be #3, but that's where the problem lies.

Some may collect a job of 1000 words, for $30 ≈ #15,000, instead of paying the writer like #10k, which is like #10 per word; they would still want to maintain their useless #2 per word.

Some will want to pay their writer #10 per word, but such writer will still contract the job out. Hence, the rate would continue to reduce.

My advice, if you are in this game for long and you know your onions, ensure you find one Naija client that has constant gigs to keep body and soul together, then use the rest of your free time to look for gigs from the whites. I know it can be hard, but it worths it.

The reason why the money is very low is probably because there is a long list of middlemen who has now cut the money to the final writer.
You might be shocked that there is at least 3 middlemen before this OP.

What they don't know is that aside from the ridiculous pay that comes with a long list of middlemen, there is also a problem of time/duration.
What original client would ask you to use 3 days to do, due to long list of middlemen, they will be asking you to deliver in 8hrs. They've forgotten, or they don't understand the fact that good articles or writing is not something one can always be up for every time.

There is also the issue of payment delay and multiple correction request when the middlemen is too much.

Anyway, to each is own. Even if a newbie collect such job, he would soon get tired but the greediness might also make him to start looking for a writer that would collect #0.8 per word.

I'm sure the OP was collecting that job for #2 or #2.5 per word, now that the job has choked him, instead of letting his client give the job to another person or give it out at the same rate, he still want to cut profit.

If a TOP writer is GOOD in a particular niche, he would spend nothing less than 1-2hrs on his first 1k words. Then his speed subsequently reduces going forward for the day.

Generally, an average writer will spend 2-4hrs on his first 1k words that require average research. The ETA becomes longer as the number of words becomes higher.

Not only that, but it is also not every time a writer will have the mood to write. Plus, the writer also has other engagements going on in his life, including time to sleep, eat and fvck.

Hence, I don't think OP knows what he's saying. He's probably one of those outsourcers that buy foreign accounts to bid for jobs. Then, in the bid to recoup their money, they get greedy taking all sorts of jobs, including "$10 per 1k words." Again, they would still go out outsourcing jobs at a rate at which they would earn more than the actual writers, which is very bad.

Well, newbie writers might take the offer, but after working for some days, including returning articles for edits, subtle jabs on poor writing, delay deliveries, etc. Nobody go tell them to look elsewhere.
