PoliticsOnoja: What We Did To Biafra Soldiers During The Civil War by owukpa(op): 7:35am On Aug 09, 2018
Former military governor of Katsina and Plateau States, General Lawrence Onoja has revealed his civil war memoirs.

Onoja, 70, who fought gallantly during the civil war, which lasted between 1967 and 1970, recalled his encounter with the Biafran soldiers.

The retired war hero, said his surviving the war was a miracle of God, noting that many of his friends could not make it.

Speaking with DAILY POST, Onoja, a native of Benue State, recalled how they would send cigarettes and beer across the water to some Biafran soldiers during the war.

He said, “Surviving the war was a miracle of God. A lot of Idoma officers, who were with me in Port Harcourt were killed. I remember when they brought the dead bodies of George Lawani (younger brother to former deputy governor of Benue State) Col Shambe, a Tiv man, Francis Oluma, a native of Adoka here in Benue. I was very young.

“One day, I just received a call from the late Benjamin Adekule (Black Scorpion) in front of his office. I could remember vividly that what was written on the steel helmet in front of his office was ‘enter my office at the pain of death.’

“Adkunle posted me to meet my kinsman, Ignatius Obeya who was the then Brigadier Commander at Itu, CrossRiver State.

“At that time, you couldn’t connect Port Harcourt from Calabar because there was no road, you had to go through Aba, which was already held by Biafra.

“So, we had to connect through Igwenga to Abak, then we connected Oron before finally crossing to Calabar.

“I reported to Brig Obeya, Rtd and I was part of the operation from crossing Calabar to Itu through a river called Ikoto Okpora. I was made a brigade major to Obeya to ensure that the three battalions in the brigade were effectually controlled and commanded to fight the war.

“We were facing a place called Arochukwu across the water at the time. The Biafra soldiers were on the other side while the Nigerian troops were on this side. It was very funny, because every morning, we would wake up and talked to ourselves across the water. The Biafra soldiers would tell us, Gowon and Ojukwu are enjoying themselves in Aburi and we are busy fighting ourselves here, please give us some food, we would then throw cigarettes and sometimes beer to them across the water. “But after at about an hour, we would start shooting at ourselves. I went through all this and came out alive, I think at 70, I would say I am a fulfilled man.”

PoliticsWhy Nigeria Needs another 'iron Leader' Like Sani Abacha - Gen Onoja by owukpa(op): 10:21am On Aug 08, 2018
Former military governor of Katsina and Plateau State, Gen Lawrence Anebi Onoja has stated that Nigeria needs another ‘iron leader’ like late dictator, General Sani Abacha.

Onoja said the situation in Nigeria needed a man with ‘iron fist’ so as to save the nation from total collapse.

Speaking exclusively with DAILY POST on Tuesday in his Abuja home, the elder statesman, who would clock 70 on Friday, lamented that it was so sad Nigerian leaders were leaving the country worse than they met it.

The former Principal Staff Officer to the late Abacha said Nigeria was now a lawless nation that a man could stock N2 billion in his room and would walk freely on the streets without being arrested and forced to face the law.

He said, “He (Abaccha) was an effective leader, I keep telling people this. You know Abacha was the one who built the national hospital. Do you know under Abacha, dollar was N85 for five years under the advice of the late Prof Aluko?

“Do you know that under Abacha you don’t have to go to America or UK, you would have to look towards Russia or China because he felt the Americans were cheating us? Apart from the fact some overzealous staff were doing certain things which he didn’t know about, I would rate him high above those who had ruled us.

“We need a man like that, we need a no-nonsense man like him. Nigeria was once described by an expert as a lawless country and I agree with him.

“It would interest you to know that there are three ingredient of democracy, one is patriotism, the other is rule of law and accountability but none exists in this country,

“People don’t account for money being given to them. People think about their family and not the country they are elected to serve.

“If you go to countries like Indonesia and China, their founding fathers used iron hands.

“You can’t lead a country where there is no law. Where people would keep two billion in their house and nobody is saying anything."

CrimeBoko Haram: Nigerian Troops Record Major Victories Over Insurgents [PHOTOS] by owukpa(op): 8:47am On Aug 06, 2018

This is just as the troops have recorded another victory over the insurgents in an encounter with the sect in Malari village of Borno State.

CrimeB/haram: Ezekwesili, Yesufu Under Fire Over Claim Of Secret Burial Of Soldiers by owukpa(op): 4:19pm On Aug 01, 2018
The Coalition Against Terrorism and Extremism [CATE] has berated former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili and her co-convener of BringBackOurGirls (BBOG), Aisha Yesufu for alleging that the Nigerian Military was involved in secret burials of casualties from the theatre of operations against Boko Haram terrorists in the northeast.

In a statement signed by its leaders, Oby Ezekwesili, Aisha Yesufu and Florence Ozor, BBOG had said it was reacting to photos of secret mass burial of some fallen soldiers days after the Nigerian military denied its soldiers were attacked.

Reacting to the group’s claim, CATE through its National Coordinator, Comrade Gabriel Onoja, said BBOG’s comment was driven by a desire to portray the Nigerian state as weak.

He said their action and outburst would rather give moral boost to terrorists.

Onoja, who addressed the press on Tuesday, called on the relevant authorities to take decisive action against the group, noting that the country's security cannot continue to be at the mercy of the agents of wannabe occupation forces.

His statement reads in full.

You must have been following the unfortunate position being canvassed by the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) Group alleging that the Nigerian Military is involved in secret burials of casualties from the theatre of operations against Boko Haram terrorists in the northeast of Nigeria.

This position is infantile and can only be meant to benefit the terrorists and neither the Nigerian state nor the citizens that are being indirectly insulted by the BBOG manipulators.

Upon careful analyses, the statement by the trio of Oby Ezekwesili, Aisha Yesufu and Florence Ozor, for the group was a coherent part of a wider campaign of disinformation that is hinged on fake news and the manipulation of facts to attain a pre-determined objective. The statement was supposedly a reaction to photos of mass burial of some fallen soldiers in the aftermath of a reported Boko Haram attack on military facilities.

The photographs in question were ordinarily consistent with the casualty figures released by the military in the aftermath of the encounter with the terrorists. We, however, noted that some internet trolls in tandem with BBOG manipulated these images – playing with perspective and depth of field to create the impression that the entire Nigerian troops have been killed and are being secretly buried in the northeast.

BBOG has curiously capitalized on what should plunge right thinking people into a sbber mood to demand the unthinkable. The group is specifically asking to be given the casualty figures on the government side for the month of July. This request would have been considered bizarre and naïve had it come from illiterates or unenlightened section of the population, which makes it outrightly irresponsible coming from those who brand themselves as better than the rest of the country.

Assuming the other cheerleaders of the group were afflicted with crass ignorance, the expectations are that a person that has once served as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will be guided by common sense on the need to appropriately manage information, especially when national security is under consideration. We know people that crafted the most basic of information in complex double speak just so the populace will not understand what is being said and the same people are today asking for monthly status report.

We, however, know that the leadership of BBOG group is not as ignorant as they want the rest of us to believe. Their demand is driven by a desire to portray the Nigerian state as weak in continuation of their agenda that has consistently been about giving moral boost to terrorists. Proof of this can be found in the way they are quick to delve into subject matters that have no bearing with the stated objectives of the group.

In the entire mix of Boko Haram ambushes, surprise attacks and BBOG coming out to ask that the terrorists should be celebrated by escalating the casualty on the side of the military, the Coalition Against Terrorism (CATE) remains focused on how these impacts the safety and security of the communities at risk from an emboldened Boko Haram. We have always expressed concerns that anything that could negatively affect the morale of soldiers is a direct threat to the civilian population and is something that should not be allowed under any circumstances.

The evil agenda is being implemented as a blackmail of the Nigerian Army and the Federal Government. We are aware that such blackmail paid off in the past with guided flight tours for the leadership of BBOG. Perhaps it is time for another guided tour for Oby Ezekwesili, Aisha Yesufu and Florence Ozor. But we warn the Federal Government that blackmailers never give up. Another guided tour with all the goodies that go with it would only keep these professional extortionists quiet until such a time their foreign masters give them a new brief.

We, therefore, urge the Federal Government and the Nigerian Army to call the bluff of this dangerous group as the country's security cannot continue to be at the mercy of the agents of wannabe be occupation forces. There are extant anti-terror laws that are applicable to terrorists' supporters, which should be applied without fear.
PoliticsBenue Youths Spit Fire Over Failed Attempt To Against Ortom by owukpa(op): 5:22pm On Jul 31, 2018
Benue Youth Alliance For Ortom (BYAFO) 2019 have condemned what they described as rascality exhibited by security agencies that backed eight lawmakers in an attempted impeachment move against Governor Samuel Ortom.

A press statement signed by National Coordinator of the group, Iorliam Shija on Tuesday in Makurdi, said the youth group was pained by the inglorious role played by Distinguished Senator George AKume, the Nigeria Police, Department of State Security (DSS) and the suspended Speaker, Terkimbi Ikyange on the failed attempt to oust Ortom.

Part of the statement reads: “We recall with sadness the Tiv political crisis of the 1960s- Nande Nande and Atemtyo and warn the political class not to take us back to those old days that our people were killed due to political uprising. We particularly, call on Senator Akume, a political leader and one of the ringleaders in the political imbroglio in the state not to take us back to those days.

“More than usual bloodshed has flown in the state due to killings by Fulani herdsmen and we cannot afford any more due to political violence. All we expect from the people of good will; the political class alike is to stand with Ortom in the implementation of the Anti-Open Grazing Law, a necessary implement to ending killings by armed herdsmen in the state and Nigeria at large than stoking embers of political violence.”

The statement added that “As young people, we are disappointed in Ikyange for allowing himself to be used by self-seeking politicians to destroy his political career that presumably has not even started.”

Shija, who described Benue youth as pacesetters, resilient, focused and truthful” noted that “as young people, that has always been our expectation from Ikyange, to exemplify the true spirit of the Benue youth. Instead, he has brought shame on the youth.”

The youth group also called on the Commissioner of Police in the state, Besan Gwana, to carry out his duties in the state as a good cop, saying “We are keenly watching him."

The group further reiterated their stand with Governor Samuel Ortom, and assured him of their continuous support.

Earlier, Governor Ortom, through his Chief Press Secretary, Akase Terver, Ortom said he was still the governor of the state, adding that the lawmakers lack the constitutional powers to remove him from office.

PoliticsLooters Behind Killings In Nigeria – Former Senate President, Ameh Ebute by owukpa(op): 5:13pm On Jul 31, 2018
Former Senate President, Ameh Ebute, has accused looters of sponsoring the ongoing killings in country.

According to the former lawmaker, some looters in a desperate bid to escape arrest and prosecution have resorted to arming youths in order to create unrest in the country.

WWW.IDOMAVOICE.COM learnt that Ebute spoke at the unveiling of a political pressure group, Good Governance Ambassadors of Nigeria, GOGAN, in Abuja, the nation’s capital on Monday.

He said, “It is a known fact that corruption has physically and physiologically killed many Nigerians. I will give you a few examples, in some Nigerian states where salaries and pension are being owed, even when there is money in the system, many people lost their lives.

“Many of them died as result of corruption, because of their inability to afford money for treatment of event to by food, thereby inviting illnesses that are incurable.

Speaking further, Ebute said the existence of over 65 political parties was “unwieldy” for the nation’s democracy to make any meaningful development.

He lamented that registration of multiple political parties without firm ideology was counter-productive to flourish partisan politics.

His words: “On the issue of political parties, it is my view that there is no political ideology for politicians to consider before jumping from one party to the other.

“The only ideology for now is fighting for access to the national cake so as to have a share of it. I am in support of a two party system.

“This will enable politicians choose whether to be a progressive or a conservative.

“The rate of defection going on in the country has divided the political terrain of the nation into two – the self-serving politician and the public-serving politicians.

“The self-serving corruption are the ones called looters. “These looters bids to avoid arrest armed many young Nigerians to create unrest in the country. This is really sad.”

Politics‘ortom Is A Failure, We Won’t Miss Him’ – APC Tells Benue Governor by owukpa(op): 2:56pm On Jul 25, 2018
The All Progressives Congress in Benue State has reacted to the defection of the state governor, Samuel Ortom to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Ortom had on Wednesday announced his defection to his former part – PDP, after earlier claiming that the APC had red-carded him.

Speaking exclusively with WWW.IDOMAVOICE.COM shortly after Ortom’s defection, the party’s Director of Publicity, Peterhot Apeh, described the governor’s exit from the party as a call for celebration.

Apeh said all efforts by the APC in Benue to reshape Ortom, who came into the party ‘with PDP spirit’ failed, hence his refusal to perform.

“Yes, we are celebrating his exit because our efforts to midwife him to become a responsible leader failed.

“He came on board with the PDP spirit that was why he failed to utilize all the money given to him. In fact, we are not going to miss him because APC does not identify with failure,” Apeh said.

Asked why it took them that long to realize that Ortom was a monumental failure, the party’s scribed said, “Well, like our elders would say, you don’t kill you goat because it has a long neck. We did all we could to midwife him into a better person but the PDP blood in him could not allow him perform, that was why he’s owing workers and pensioners millions of naira in Benue.

“When he could not longer change, he quickly issued himself a red card, and in soccer, if you are given a red card, you are to miss the next two matches, so he should wait until 2027 before aspiring for any political office in Benue state. Until then, Ortom’s political career has crept into a cultural pot of time,” Apeh said.

Asked to react to the report that the party was planning to field Emmanuel Jime as its governorship candidate and Dickson Akoh as running mate, Apeh said, “Well, the party is yet to decide on that because the room is open for anyone to aspire.

“We would get to know who would fly the party’s flag after the primaries.”

PoliticsYOuth Council Elects New Leadership, Expels Former President by owukpa(op):
By Yemi Itodo

For almost ten years after its last convention in Abuja, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has successfully held a convention, where new leadership emerged.

The unity convention which lasted for 6 days in Gombe State, ended Tuesday morning with the election of Comrade Bello Bala Shagari from Sokoto state as the National President.

The congress had, during a business session Monday night, passed a resolution for the expulsion of the immediate past President, Comrade Murtala Muhammad and also barred him from being recognised as former President of the Council.

Muhammad, popularly known as 'Ganji', was said to have written to the Ministry of Sports and Youths Development, dubiously extending his tenure as caretaker committee chairman by four years, the position, the Honourable Minister, Barr. Solomon Dalung, the Board of Trustees and various organs of NYCN frowned at.

One of the affiliates of the Council, Centre for African Development and Advocacy (CADA) was also delisted from the Voluntary Youths Organisations (VYOs) by the resolution of the congress, for dragging the Council severally to different courts over "needless issues".

The congress also overwhelmingly adopted the BoT of NYCN under the leadership of Amb (Dr.) Dickson Akoh and its Advisory Council led by Hon. Ben Duntoye.

Out of 104 affiliate VYOs, only 99 participated with 3 representatives each, while 5 delegates were accredited from each of the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The 20-man National Transition Committee led by Mayor Enujeko also participated in the election, bringing it to a total of 500 delegates accredited for the congress.

A total of 3 aspirants were screened for the position of National President, but one Blessing Akinlosotu announced his withdrawal from the race during the election, making Comrade Bello Bala Shagari to lead with a total of 249 votes and his opponent Almustapha Atuku (Kogi) with 234 votes, while 15 votes were cancelled.

The list of new officials are as follows.

1. National President - Bello Bala Shagari
2. Deputy National President - Innocent Uduanya Nwobodo
3. Vice President (North Central) - Pwajok Sele Sesan
4. Vice President (North West) - Lukman Majidadi Bisallah
5. Vice President (North East) - Muhammad Suhailu Abubakar
6. Vice President (South East) - Echem Ikeh Chibuike
7. Vice President (South West) - Saliu Marufdeen Adekunke
8. Vice President (South South) - Kinsley Ibanichuka
9. National Treasurer - Uko Michael Ukpong
10. National Legal Adviser - Barr. Ahmad Tahir Daramola
11. National Organizing Secretary - Jeba Muktar Sani
12. National PRO - Awujoola Kehinde Charity
13. National Social Secretary - Umoru Millicent Emike
14. National Financial Secretary - Eniola Temitope Adeyemi
15. Assistant Secretary General - Odunze Caleb Eberechukwu
16. Organizing Secretary (South East) - Agwucha Izunna Koka Chidirue
17. Organizing Secretary (North East) - Adamu Hussein Yunusa
18. Organizing Secretary (South South) - Avwoke Chriton
19. Organizing Secretary (North Central) - Yerima Muhammad Muhammad
20. Organizing Secretary (South West) - Williams Oladipupo Oluwaseun
21. Organizing Secretary (North West) - Aminu Ubale Funtua

The offices of National Secretary and National Auditor were not occupied as no one contested for the positions.

Trouble, however, started when, one of the VYOs, Liberty Club International protested that its 3 delegates were not allowed to cast votes, despite been accredited.

Our correspondent gathered that, the reason for disenfranchising the youth body was not unconnected to the fact that, the total number of votes cast would have exceeded the number of accredited voters, with the 3 supposed votes from the organisation.

Despite the protest, the Chairman of Electoral Committee, Lamir Aminu went ahead with the process and returned Shagari as elected.

The 21 officers who were returned at the congress have since been sworn-in by the Chief Registrar of Gombe State, Abdulsalam Alexander Jatau.

Addressing newsmen shortly after the swearing-in ceremony, Shagari thanked his colleagues for the matured way they conducted themselves during the congress, while pledging to do all within his powers to unite stakeholders and bringing end to factions in the Council.

Christianity EtcHow God Rescued Me From Kidnappers’ Den – Paulcy Nnamdi Iwuala by owukpa(op): 7:32pm On Jul 24, 2018
Imo State-born humanitarian, Iwuala Nnamdi Paulcy, has revealed how he narrowly escaped from the hands of kidnappers after being held captive for many weeks in an unknown forest.

Paulcy was last month whisked away by unknown gunmen in Owerri the Imo State capital.

Narrating his ordeal in the hands of the dare-devil kidnappers on Tuesday during the Healing and Deliverance Service at Dunamis Headquarters, Area 1, Abuja, the young philanthropist revealed that he was tied to the tree and beaten mercilessly for weeks by his captors. Unable to scratch his body or drive away the ants and insects that crawled all over body.
Www.idomavoice.com observed that Paulcy, who manages the Genius Eyes International Foundation For The Hopeless, gave chilling details on how God used the face of his servant, Dr. Pastor Paul Enenche to rescue him from men of the underworld.

According to the visibly excited young acticist, “What I experienced for 14 days was better imagined than experienced. I was blindfolded, taken to a forest and was beaten continuously like a common criminal. I was not allowed to take my bath. I was tied against the trees and ants were all over my body.

"When the people were calling my family for ransom, my people started praying and they got across to Daddy (Dr. Paul Enenche) to pray for my release as they heard so many testimonies of similar answers to his prayers.

“I was beaten continuously for weeks until one day, I fell into a trance and I saw God’s servant, Dr. Paul Enenche who came to me and told me that there is nobody that could save me, except God. He pointedly told me that the world and my family would fail me but God will never fail.

"The amazing thing is that I have never had one on one encounter with him before except on his Facebook page.

“In that revelation, I saw him dancing to a song entitled Nara Ekele while shuffling with both legs. I also heard him singing another new song as it is. Is only you Jesus, is only you, the world would fail you, family will fail you but God won’t fail. After the whole thing, the excruciating pains I had been having in my body from the beating vanished.

“Immediately, I jacked back to life and the third person who was supposed to take care of me came and told me that be needed help that what he was doing was not his calling.

"He begged me to help him if I come out. So I told him I would take him to Dunamis, he collected my number and called his mum, who knows he's a kidnapper, but the mum objected that he should not or else he would be arrested and jailed.

"On the third day, he appeared again the third time (every night for three consecutive nights) the man of God Dr Paul Enenche appeared to me again in a trance ( it was too real to be just a dream ) and told me that he was leaving that place and he would leave with me.

“So, when I woke up, one of them said let us free him, that they had suffered a lot, the others kicked against it and there was confusion in their camp. In fact, they disintegrated and that was how I more or less released from their midst."
God is indeed faithful. There is God at work in Dunamis.

Christianity EtcKillings: God Will Judge You - Paul Enenche Tells Wicked Leaders by owukpa(op): 2:57pm On Jul 23, 2018
The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche has slammed political leaders who place their ‘tiny’ position above God.

www.idomavoice.com noted that Dr. Enenche, while speaking at the 4th service at Area 1, Abuja, headquarters of his church, affirmed that God would judge any leader who is laughing over the shedding of innocent blood in Nigeria.

According to the fearless and fiery preacher, some people consider it as an achievement to snap picture with president and governors, while their states and communities are soaked in blood.

He asserted, “"Daniel was a political office holder that stood up and said NO to an ungodly law. Commitment to the defence of the cause of God in the earth means that you are not going to watch the kingdom of God confronted and molested on the earth and do nothing.

“It is an absolute abomination for the cause of God to be confronted and you are quiet.

''...It is a shame for anybody to take his political position higher than his spiritual position. shame! Daniel was the Vice President, yet he confronted the evil Law of the king in the Land. What shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? What position will we occupy when we get to heaven?

“If you have a Government position and you prefer that position to the position of God, God will judge you at the end of your life. You will have a question to answer when you arrive in eternity. They are killing people and you are saying nothing. They are wasting and shedding blood and you’re more interested in protecting your tiny, irrelevant, inconsequential, useless post…

“Daniel said 'NO! I better lose the post!'. It is preferable I enter the Lions' Den. And God said, ‘Even though you enter, I will protect you there.' It is better to lose your position than to be a coward; a chicken and a pun in the hand of people: a puppet manipulated by puppet masters.

“We have a nation full of people. You step into a position and you don’t know where you are coming from anymore. Your people are suffering and you are standing there.

“Some people consider it as an achievement to snap picture with President and Governors. Why will you be laughing and smiling with killers? it is a shame to be found in the same picture with a murderer!

“Whatever position you find yourself, you must be ready to rise up and say NO to every ungodly decree and law or operation. SAY NO and if worse comes to worse, resign!…”

Flowing from the call to contend for the soul of the nation raised by Bishop Oyedepo, Dr. Enenche as well as Pastor David Ibiyeomie also announced a 7 day fasting and Prayer for Nigeria in their respective ministries. The spiritual exercise starts on Monday 23 July and will run till Sunday, 29 July.

Politics2019: Gombe Governor Warns Nigerian Youths Against Political Thuggery by owukpa(op): 6:46pm On Jul 21, 2018
Executive Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo, has warned young people to be wary of politicians who delight in using them as political thugs to achieve selfish interests, as 2019 general elections draw near.

Governor Dankwambo gave the charge, Friday, in Gombe, the state capital, during the official opening ceremony of National Unity Convention of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).

Represented by his Deputy, Mr. Charles Iliya, the Governor also advised the youths to eschew religious, ethnic, or political violence in the coming general elections, urging them to take advantage of the Not-Too-Young-To-Run Bill and seek elective positions rather than being used as thugs.

“I will like to call on the youth of this great nation, to be wary of politicians who took delight in using them as political thugs to achieve their political goal, only to dump them when they achieve their aims.

“Be warned therefore, even as preparation for the 2019 elections is drawing near. I challenge you also to take full advantage of the ‘Not-Too-Young-To-Run Bill’ that has just been signed into law by being contestants into various elective political positions.
“You should also eschew violence of whatever nature, be it religious, ethnic, regional or political, to enable us achieve a Sustainable National Unity and Development”, Dankwambo said.

The youthful Governor also called on political elites to start seeing Nigerian youths as “reservoir of energy, which if properly harnessed, can transform into veritable tools for development”, and not as tools for election malpractices.

On his part, the Minister of Sports and Youths Development, Barr. Solomon Dalung, acknowledged the fact that the NYCN was going to hold a successful congress since the last one in Abuja 2008, due to factions.

The Minister, who was represented by the Director, Education and Youth Development, Mrs Bakari Girei, said it is only when United, that the youths can take their rightful position in the society.

Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of Board of Trustees of NYCN, Amb. (Dr.) Dickson Akoh, advised the delegates to carefully elect young people that would ensure stability in the council and attract international collaborations.

Akoh lamented the inability of NYCN to hold successful convention since 2010, saying, the board under him, with the cooperation of the federal government and stakeholders, has made everything humanly possible “to break the jinx”, by midwifing a befitting unity congress billed to hold in Gombe Saturday.

Politics2019: We Won’t Abandon You – Benue Youths Assure Ortom by owukpa(op): 2:23pm On Jul 17, 2018
Benue Youth Alliance For Ortom 2019 (BYAFO 2019), a youth group pushing for the re-election of Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has vowed to continue with the Governor against all odds.

The youth group said they are ready to queue behind the governor as he strives to give a new direction in the Nigeria’s Food Basket State in spite of persecutions he is facing.

The group in a statement issued by its National Coordinator, Iorliam Shija, Tuesday, in Makurdi, the state capital, said that no political leadership in the state will be acceptable outside that which is provided by Governor Ortom.

This statement is in reaction to the Monday’s revelation by Ortom that he has been shown a ‘red card’ by leadership of the APC, on whose platform he came to power in 2015.

According to Shija, Ortom’s presence on the political stage in the state was a reminiscence of what was obtainable in the First Republic when late JS Tarka attempted the definition of minority rights in Nigeria.

The youth leader observed that since the era of Tarka, clear agenda and focused political Leadership have eluded the state until the emergence of Ortom since the need to spare him persecution by selfish politicians, whose actions are anti-people has become the duty of every Benue Youth.

“We have tried those who in their estimation feel they are leaders in the state but they have failed us. What do we get as a result of that? Underdevelopment, lack of clear cut agenda and direction to move the people forward is what we have witnessed."

“Ortom must be spared the ongoing persecution. When has it become a crime to stand by the people, whose mandate you are holding in trust? We are satisfied with the unwavering determination of our Governor, His Excellency Samuel Ortom to securing the future of our state at the expense of his comfort and political career." he noted.

"Our assurance to the Governor is that with him we stand to the end in his desire to giving a new lease of life and direction in the state,” the statement reads.

The group also promised to move into all nooks and crannies of the state to mobilize against selfish politicians, who because of their personal ambitions, want to hold the state back.

PoliticsYouth Group Blasts Tambuwal For Accusing Buhari Of Sponsoring Killers by owukpa(op): 11:59am On Jul 13, 2018
The Nigerian Youth Impact Movement (NYIM) has strongly frowned at the recent comment by Governor Aminu Tambuwal, accusing President Muhammadu Buhari of being responsible for the politically-motivated killings in Nigeria.

Tambuwal, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives had stated that the killings across the nation boil down to failure of leadership, stressing that the “growing spate of mindless shedding of innocent blood” has brought a new dimension to the reprehensible state of insecurity in the country.

“That is not what Nigerians voted for in 2015″ Tambuwal had said.

Reacting however, the youth group stated that it is very disheartening to see people who were in the helms of affairs in the old regime known for wastage, nepotism and grand corruption to cast aspersions on the person of President Buhari.

Odoh Chima, Executive Director of the group in a statement warned Tambuwal that despite eyeing the number one seat, he should not throw caution into the winds.

According to Chima, Nigeria relapsed into a recession shortly after the take off of the present administration because the 7th National Assembly under Tambuwal didn't do their job in checking what was happening in the office of the National Security Adviser, NSA and Petroleum Ministry.

He said, “Tambuwal as a matter of fact has undermined the war on corruption by terminating all corruption cases against members of his cabinet accused of stealing N1.5 billion public funds.

“While billions of public funds are being squandered in the name of the electorate without commensurate social infrastructure in Sokoto state despite receiving successive funding as bailouts, Paris club refunds in addition to the regular monthly subvention from the federal government.

“He therefore has no moral justification to attack the person of President Muhammadu Buhari on any grounds because as a matter of fact, he has a case to answer.

“Talking about overhauling the Nigerian security architecture our question is, what did he do when Nigerians were killed like animals during the last administration while he was the speaker of the house?

“We view this call as unfortunate and Ill conceived but we are not surprised because Tambuwal has again proven himself to be the chameleon that he is.

“While we are not against his hobnobbing with the opposition which he now clearly belongs, we are warning him to stop playing politics with the lives of Nigerians.

“Tambuwal and his co-travellers should know that no amount of blackmail to score cheap political goals can deter Mr. President from delivering on his promises which he has continued to do.

“Comments like these amount to hate speech because they are capable of inflaming the already tensed situation around the country.

“Now that investigations have it that the recent killings have a political undertone, it is very clear that while we are hearing the voice of Jacob, the hand we feel is that of Esau.

“Only a witch is quick to accuse others of witchcraft there is no way Hon Tambuwal can tell Nigerians he knows nothing about the grand plot to destabilize Nigeria.”

Christianity EtcThere Is A War Of Attrition In Nigeria – Paul Enenche by owukpa(op): 5:21pm On Jul 12, 2018
The senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has described the killings in some parts of Nigeria as ‘a war of attrition.’

According to the cleric, the killings in the country were deliberately orchestrated by some enemies of the state with the aim of wiping out a religion or a group of people from the face of the country.

WWW.IDOMAVOICE.COM reports that Dr. Enenche made this revelation on Wednesday at the end of the three days fasting and prayer programme organised by the Christian Association if Nigeria, CAN, at the Ecumenical Centre, Abuja for Nigeria.

The well-attended programme had Cardinal John Olorunfemi Onaiyekan of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, Rev Samson Ayokunle, Dr. Mrs. Becky Enenche, CAN President, Bishop John Praise, Very Rev. STV Adegbite, Methodist Bishop, Diocese of Ikeja, Archbishop Oche Job Methodist Archbishop, Archdiocese of Abuja and other revered ministers of the gospel.

In his sermon, Dr. Enenche noted that the senseless and ceaseless killings in the country are targeted as destroying and decimating the entity called Nigeria.

The preacher, who anchored his sermon from Ephesians 6:10-18, 2 Corinthians 10:3-6, stated that it is totally out of place to think that the ongoing battle in Nigeria is all about herdsmen or grazing land; rather, it is the battle for the elimination of religious freedom, tolerance and secularism of the Nigerian state.

He voiced his conviction thus, “The Bible makes it clear that Christians are involved in battle consistently. Generally, the Christian life is a call unto battle; the Christian life is characterised with warfare. Identifying with Christ calls for battle. This is why the Bible says from our anchor Scripture in Ephesians 6:12 that we wrestle. Beloved, I want to let you know that whether we are interested in the battle or not, the truth is, we wrestle; whether we looked for anybody’s trouble or not, whether we are nice to people or not nice, it is important to know that we wrestle; we are involved in a fight.

“Also, it is important to know that this wrestling is a spiritual warfare; but once in a while, the battle enters the physical dimension. For example, the type of battle currently going in Nigeria has left the spiritual realm and stepped into the physical realm. This is because of the strategic nature of Nigeria in the world.

“Nigeria is a very strategic nation in the world; Nigeria is the largest black nation in the world; Nigeria has the largest Christian gatherings in the world. I don’t think that there is any nation of the earth that has the large number of the Catholic churches that we have in Nigeria; if there is, it may be South America. In Nigeria, we have great church edifices; and also God has a prophetic agenda for Nigeria.

“So, prophetically, Nigeria is God’s anchor of the end time move of the Holy Spirit; the release of missionaries from Nigeria to different nations of the world and the rapid and aggressive growth of Christianity in Nigeria are indications to show that Nigeria is strategic to the world. Christianity came into Nigeria fully around 1854 and overran the whole nation. The Enemy is not happy to see the growth of Christianity in Nigeria. This is the reason for the battle. So, we are in a wrestling as a nation on the basis of this thing.

“Now, it is important to know that nature of this battle. By my medical training, I want to let you know that the best physician is the one who knows diagnosis; until you can diagnose an issue as doctor; treatment is a waste of time. In the same way, until you can diagnose issues in the physical realm, you cannot proffer solutions.
So, what is the nature of this battle?

“It is the battle for the soul of Nigeria; a supremacy for national dominion and control
It is important to know that the battle we are facing currently in this country, Nigeria, is the battle for the soul of Nigeria; it is the battle for the supremacy of national dominion and control.

“We have heard some group of people say many times that Nigeria is their father’s land; they say that Nigeria is their father’s inheritance, so they want to take it by fighting and killing people. So, it is battle for the soul of Nigeria; a battle for supremacy and control.

“It is the battle for the decimation and destruction of the great Nation called Nigeria
Also, it is important to know that this battle is the battle for the decimation and destruction of the great Nation called Nigeria.

“This is because it is not possible to have development and progress in Nigeria amidst wars and killings. Nigeria remains the largest black nation on Earth. Nigeria is a nation to watch as far as other nations of the world are concerned; and so, when the enemy saw the greatness of Nigeria, he says, let’s destroy Nigeria. But that enemy has failed in Jesus’ Name.

“It is the battle for the elimination of religious freedom; religion tolerance and the securialsm of the Nigerian state.

“We can also see that it is the battle for the elimination of religious freedom; religion tolerance and the securialsm of the Nigerian state. Now, I don’t want anyone to be deceived that the battle is all about herdsmen or grazing land; rather, it is the battle for the elimination of religious freedom, tolerance and secularism of the Nigerian state. I give you an example: The two Reverend fathers that were killed in Benue State were not on any farm land; they were inside the church building and the Bandits and Jihadists went there to kill them.

“Also, Plateau State has no anti-grazing law and nobody is mentioning grazing in Plateau State but these wicked agents of darkness went to Birkin ladin, Gana Rock and other places, killed and burnt people alive. So, this battle is not about the issue of land to graze cow; rather, it is a battle for the elimination of religion freedom, tolerance and the secularism of the Nigerian state.

“It is a battle with a flavour of religious and ethnic cleansing and to wipe out a whole community. Another agenda or the nature of this battle is that it is a battle with a flavour of religious and ethnic cleansing and to wipe out a whole community. We have been told that there are communities in Plateau State where the occupants have been chased out; the demonic herdsmen and strangers are living in those lands now.

“We have a statistics of 54 of such villages or more where they have killed and chased people out of the villages and even renamed some of the villages or changed the names to other names. So, we are dealing with a very devious, pernicious, satanic, demonic, agenda and it shall be arrested in Jesus’ Name.

“It is a battle with multi-level collaboration and collusion, both internal and external
Also, we know that this battle is a battle with multi-level collaboration and collusion, both internal and external. First of all, from the official quarters, we heard that people came from outside the country, precisely from Libya and they are using arms to fight the nation; then we heard again that this battle is a struggle between local herdsmen and farmers.

“The third thing we heard was that they are some politicians sponsoring the killings. Beloved, in my opinions, all the three things are correct. First of all, we have external collaboration; forces from outside this country are involved in these killings. Secondly, we have people in Nigeria who are behind the killing and thirdly, we have political leadership both in authority and out of authority that are all in collaboration for a strategic agenda against the destiny of Nigeria; but in the Name of Jesus, it has already failed.

“It is a battle of what is called the war of attrition. Attrition means the process of reducing the strength of the people by sustained attack or pressure. It is to keep pressuring people until their strength reduces. When people are attacked, as they try to recover, then the attackers return to keep the pressure or fight the people until the people are wearied into submission. That is what we are faced with right now. And I want us to understand this.

“This is always the strategy of the Devil; to introduce threat and intimidation. The strategy of the Enemies is; Let us do terrible things to them; let us kill women, children, burn houses and put it on social media and everywhere, let people see it. When they do this, they will put the climate of fear on the nation.
Beloved, but our concern is, even though we have been called to fight, Scriptures make it clear that we are destined to win.

On the way forward, Dr. Enenche suggested that it was high time Nigerian drew closer to God in prayers and intercession.

His words, “It is important that from the altars, let our declarations and decrees go forth; let people know that the body of Christ is aware of killings going on in this country; it is good to tell the Devil and his agents that we are not children; even a child in kindergarten understands what is going on. From every altar, let the message of the massive killing fly like fire and then at the place of prayer, we will keep not silence until God establishes Jerusalem as praise in the earth.

“Beloved, silence equals consent. The silence of good people is wicked than the utterance of wicked people. People who know what is correct but keep quiet or do nothing about a wrong thing cause more harm than the utterance of the wicked. And we are not going to keep silence; we are going to speak from the altar, we are going to speak at the place of prayer; we are going to speak to everyone who cares to hear that Nigeria cannot be dechristianized and desecularized; Nigeria cannot be Islamized; that the force of darkness that can islamize Nigeria has not been given birth to; and we are going to speak it with audacity. God has promised us that as we speak to His Ears, He will confirm what we say (Numbers 14:28). God is waiting for us to speak so He can confirm what we say. God performs the counsel of His servant and fulfill the words of His messenger.”

On his part, CAN President, Ayokunle called on Nigerians, especially Christian leaders to take bold step and speak against the killings in the country.

Also speaking at the event, Cardinal Onayekan asked Nigerians to learn from the past and shun killings.

He also urged the federal government to rehabilitate those that have been displaced internally as a result of the killings in the country.

PoliticsAmeh Ebute Writes Saraki To Resign by owukpa(op): 5:01pm On Jul 06, 2018
Former Senate President and elder statesman, Senator Ameh Ebute, has called on Bukola Saraki, President of the 8th Senate to immediately resign in order to save the image of the entity called Nigeria.

Ebute, who was President of the Nigerian Senate during the end of the third republic, in a thought-provoking letter addressed to Saraki and obtained by our reporter on Friday, hinged his reason on the fact that Saraki had succeed in turning the Red Chamber into a combat theatre by protecting the abominable and despising truth.

The Benue-born political leader lamented that the Saraki-led senate also imported what he termed despicable autocracy and despotism into parliamentary engagements, hence, the needless brawls between the senate and the executive arm of the governments.

He also cited the recent suspension of Senators Ali Adume and Omo-Agege as some of the few examples Saraki’s aberrational leadership of the Senate and the National Assembly.

Ebute declared, “This is the extent of your moral deficit, which has disqualified you from belonging or even leading an assemblage of honourable men and women.”

He advised the Kwara-born lawmaker to kindly eat the humble pie ad take the exit door, having, “consistently failed to pass the integrity and morality tests to continue to preside over Nigeria’s parliament.”

The letter reads below.

Let me begin by extending my greetings to you and other members of the National Assembly. It is exactly eight years since God crossed our path and must be bold to say that knowing you as a friend has been an interesting journey all the way.

As a senior citizen of Nigeria, I feel I owe the younger generation of Nigerians the moral obligation to offer advice and counsel when public institutions are mismanaged. It is more compelling, especially, whenever I see the ship of state derailing or democratic tenets blatantly abused, as in our experience now with your leadership of the National Assembly. This is why I have decided to write this open epistle to you.

We all know that democratic governance rest on the pillars of the legislature, whose main responsibility is to enact legislations that would deepen democratic practices and good governance in any country of the world. A corrupt legislature is a bane to the country; while an upright, focused and virtuous legislature is an asset to Nigeria. The entire wheels of democratic governance are propelled and energized by the legislature.

Therefore, those who should populate the hallowed chambers ought to be men and women of proven integrity and trustworthy. The demands of morality and integrity on the Parliament, which is the conscience of democratic governance is very strict.

It is no longer in doubt to all discerning minds that your lofty position as the Senate President and Chairman of the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigerian places a serious a moral burden on you, which your actions and utterances in the last three years have exposed you as very deficient.

Nigerians have watched with utter amazement how you have redefined leadership of the legislature in the negative sense. This to me as your friend is very shameful and immoral to say the least but still not too late.

The Senate under your watch has imported despicable autocracy and despotism into parliamentary engagements. And the resultant effects include, the dictatorial muzzling of opposition voices of colleagues during plenary and abusing their inalienable right of freedom to hold and express opinions on the floor of the hallowed chambers.

Your leadership of the Senate has shown an absolute proclivity to vindictiveness and witch-hunting of colleagues who share views opposed to your disposition. Such members are goaded to the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee peopled by your acolytes, who have accepted the loathsome job of serving as your hatchet men. They unduly or unlawfully punish dissenting voices for the audacity of holding an opinion contrary to your thinking.

The suspension of Senators Ali Adume and Omo-Agege are some of the few examples of your aberrational leadership of the Senate and the National Assembly. You have turned the Red Chambers into a combat theatre, protecting the abominable, but despising truth. This is the extent of your moral deficit, which has disqualified you from belonging or even leading an assemblage of honourable men and women.

Mr. Senate President Sir, you have consistently failed to pass the integrity and morality tests to continue to preside over Nigeria’s parliament. Nigerians recall with much sadness, your scandalous alleged purchase of the N298 million bulletproof Range Rover Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), with fake documents and the evasion of Customs duties, which was impounded by Nigerian Customs Service (NCS).

There is also the issue of your alleged false declaration of assets, a case still hanging at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), but you are frustrating judgment with frivolous court injunctions. This again testified to the obvious that you still own the Nigerian people an apology.

And your recent alleged shadows in the Offa bank robberies which claimed the lives of over 30 Nigerians, including security agents have cumulatively placed a moral burden on your leadership and disqualify you from holding the noble identity of a Nigerian parliamentarian, much more holding such exalted positions of Senate President and Chairman of the National Assembly.

Sir, in my humble opinion, you are barren of every essential ingredient and honour to continue to preside over any parliament anywhere in the world. The abysmal performance of the Senate under your watch, the padding of national budget or the simmering regime of corruption your leadership has allowed to creep into the Senate strips you of any qualification to be a member of Nigeria’s National Assembly.

Nigerians have tolerated your leadership deficit enough and time has come for you to have a rethink and do the needful.
We are tired of your scandalous outings at every point. It is either, you are fingered in armed robbery today, or some illicit monies are traced to your account abroad, which are matters the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria does not approve of any public office holder.

My friend Senator, I have no hesitation to say, you have regrettably become an opposite of honour or integrity, both at home and abroad and a shame to Nigeria, a country President Muhammadu Buhari is spending sleepless nights to reposition and rejuvenate on the path of progress and public morality. We cannot allow you to reverse these gains.

Though, the mistake was made right from your home state of Kwara, where the people of Kwara Central senatorial district failed to see your odd characters, underserving of leadership patronage and proceeded to entrust you with their mandate. Even this is now questionable having listened to some criminals confess openly how they manipulated your elections to give you victories against the people’s wish .

These negative virtues are innately part of you, and there are no restrictions. You even irresponsibly besmirched and desecrated, the Elder Olusola Saraki, your own father by shamefully humbling a man that brought you into this world and even politics by extension.

Therefore, at the behest of all men of good conscience and lovers of Nigeria, I am advising you to do the needful. Please, withdraw your membership of the National Assembly by resigning your position. And the time to act appropriately is now. It is the collective desire of all Nigerians to see their country progress. We cannot continue to stomach or tolerate a leadership liability like you anymore.

Thank you for the patience of reading this open letter and may you be guided accordingly.

You may permit me to share this with our friends in the diplomatic circle as witnesses to my call for you to do the needful. This is to put everyone on notice should masses decide to emulate your style of doing things by removing you from office in the days ahead.

Christianity EtcPaul Enenche Slams Femi Adesina Over ‘Land For Life Comment’ by owukpa(op): 4:21pm On Jul 06, 2018
https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Dr-Paul-Enenche.jpg

Pastor Dr. Paul Enenche of the Dunamis International Gospel Center (DIGC) has blasted the Federal government for asking Nigerians to donate land for ranching to prevent deaths.

WW.IDOMAVOICE.COM observed that Dr. Enenche was reacting to a statement recently credited to the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina that “You can only have ancestral attachment when you are alive. If you are talking about ancestral attachment, if you are dead, how does the attachment matter.”

Responding to the statement, Enenche described Adesina’s comment as symptoms of primitivity of mentality, primordial sensibility, retrogressive discretion, bankruptcy of ideology and cerebral sclerosis

According to him, “It is an insult on our collective sensibility for anyone to suggest that the killing of innocent Nigerians is justifiable if cattle colony is not accepted.

“What a senseless, useless, worthless suggestion! Such quality of suggestions are only symptoms of primitivity of mentality, primordial sensibility, retrogressive discretion, bankruptcy of ideology and cerebral sclerosis.

The General Overseer went further adding that “It is therapeutic failure at the highest level for when drugs expire; they can neither remedy nor be remedied.

God is on the throne and it shall not happen.” he added.

Christianity EtcMeet Prophet Udensi, Pastor Behind Viral Audio On Tragedies In Nigeria (video) by owukpa(op): 2:16pm On Jun 29, 2018
DAILY POST has unmasked the prophet behind the viral audio message, which warned Nigerians to pray against disasters in some certain days.

Prophet Udensi Godlove of Land of Oil Prophetic Ministry (AKA Hill of the Lord), Lagos is the face behind the voice, DAILY POST can authoritatively report.

In the audio, which went viral few weeks back, the fiery preacher specifically warned his congregation, nay, Nigerians to pray and avoid traveling out of Lagos on some certain days.

He said, "I saw a lot of dead people and over flow of blood, please let's be careful.

"June 23, June 28, July 11, July 24, July 30 and August 1, these days have been marked for evil and disasters.

“Do not travel out of Lagos using any of these transportation companies on these dates.

“Okeyson, Benue Links, Agofure, Young Shall Grow, Air Peace, God is Good, Abia Links, Efosa, GUO.

“On July 22, August 5 and 19, no one should travel out of the state using plane, you can travel with them any other day but on these dates, avoid them, they have been marked for blood," he had said during one of his services few some weeks back.

Barely one week after his prophecy, over 200 persons were brutally butchered by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Plateau State on June 23, one of the days he mentioned in his message.

Just on Thursday, June 28 (another day he mentioned) nine persons were roasted to death and more than 54 vehicles burnt to ashes after a fuel-laden tanker fell on Otedola Bridge along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and went up in flame, trapping motorists and passengers.

The message was erroneously attributed to Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministry.

Suleman had since disclaimed it.

However, our reporter obtaned the video version of the message where Prophet Udensi warned his members on some impending disasters in Nigeria and how to avert them.

The man of God, whose Church is located on 103 Iju Road beside Ifako Int'l School College Bus Stop, Agege, Lagos, in the video specifically called on Nigerians to be careful and as well be prayerful as the devil as a roaring lion was seeking for those to devour.

He said God is capable of averting the impending tragedies only if 'we can pray.'

Christianity EtcPlateau killings: Dr. Paul Enenche speaks, condemns attacks by owukpa(op): 7:23am On Jun 27, 2018
The Senior Pastor, Dunamis International Gospel Centre, DIGC, Dr Paul Enenche, has condemned the statement by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, over the killings in Plateau state.

www.idomavoice.com observed that the fiery preacher spoke on Tuesday morning in Abuja during the DIGC Healing and Deliverance Service, Enenche said such a group should be brought to book for taking responsibility for the death of over 100 Nigerians.

He said: “Mass killings of human beings, as a revenge for stealing 300 cows from herdsmen. Even if this were true does it justify the killings of lives?

“The person or group that made this statement is still walking free? How can someone compare the lives of human beings with that of a cow.

“You hear a Nigerian saying that attacks on his fellow country man are retaliatory. Yet, he doesn’t support the killing of human being, saying that those who carried out the attacks did it on a revenge mission.

“What are the security agencies doing to this person that has openly confessed he has committed a crime and yet no arrest is made instead innocent Nigerians are being terrorised daily.”

He expressed concern over the sudden silence by activists in the country.

He said it was time the security agencies knew that Nigeria remained a secular state and should not turn the country into something else.

The cleric urged the congregation to pray for every genuine security men and women fighting for the peace of the nation.

He, however, asked them to declare that the genuine security personnel would refuse to be used as instruments of dismay, but would be used to bring about the peace of the nation.

LiteratureJohn Shaibu's UNBROKEN' Emerges 2018 Book Of The Year, Plus Review by owukpa(op): 10:25pm On Jun 15, 2018
Unbroken; Channeling the Power of the Mind, an inspirational book written by ace motivational speaker, John Onche Shaibu, has been named Book of the Year in the recently-held Kor Bara Kor Foundation dinner and award night.

The award came barely three months after he bagged the Tech Icon of the Year’s award at the Stakerrs Pan African Awards held in Lagos.

Shaibu, a renowned motivational speaker, writer and idealist delivers success strategies and inspires youths driven by love within and outside the shores of this great country constantly striving for positivity amongst others.

He is also an author of so many inspiring and positive mind-building literary works.

According Kor Bara Kor Foundation, organizers of the award, the 207-paged book, emerged winner above other nominees after a thorough screening by critics.

The book, from the stables of Sapient Hadassah’s Touch Limited, according to the organizers has answers to many questions bordering of issues of life.

Speaking shortly after receiving the prestigious award at Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja, Shaibu, an engineer by profession said he was inspired to pen the book with the aim of exposing the mind to the key that unlocks a rich and vibrant life.

He said, “Owing to a myriad of reasons, it is becoming increasingly difficult to go through one day without coming in contact with at least one man or woman who lashes out at us with obvious frustrations and negative energy oozing out of their being.

“Dozens of people are broken on account of the economic situation, personal issues or even health related challenges that they face.

“The irate boss, the impatient colleague, the scowling neighbour or even the cranky motorist who bellows at you as you meander across the streets, have become a side dish for every day we are served.

“The human mind is capable of doing so many great things but when man loses control of his mind, he is reduced to a mere mortal who is regulated by his environment. The control of the mind can be regarded as the first intellectual step to self-awareness.

“Whatever the mind thinks and conceives it attracts and creates. Therefore, anything we experience is a reflection of what goes on in our minds. Open your mind to possibilities and opportunities, and you will be amazed how positive ideas on how to live well will begin to flow towards you. Take positive action on those ideas and you will attract all round prosperity.

“Your mind holds the key to unlocking a rich and vibrant life. Drain your heart of fears that are unfounded and learn to listen to that positive voice that attempts to calm your mind. As you persist on that path, channeling the power of your mind, you will eventually be a success. Stay unbroken; be the best.”

The author also told Rachel Bakam of the Rachel the Piper Show, that, “It’s a book that focuses on awareness, empowerment and strategic thinking. Without awareness, there is no clarity of purpose. Without direction there is no proper alignment.”

In another development, the writer would be hosting a youth empowerment programme next weekend.

The event, which is tagged working hands challenge: fashion edition award ceremony is powered by JOHN SHAIBU YOUTH EMPOWERMENT INITATIVE is slated for Saturday 30th June in Lagos, Nigeria.

UNLOCKING THE POWER OF THE MIND WITH ‘UNBROKEN’

Book: Unbroken: Channeling the power of the mind

Publisher: Sapient Hadassah’s Touch Limited

Author: John Onche Shaibu

PP: 207

Year: 2018

The book, Unbroken: Channeling the power of the mind x-rays the importance of mind in human life.

It reveals that a mind is an untapped resource that can make one successful or confine one to a life of misery, an affirmation that the world is not viewed with one’s eyes but with mind

One interesting thing is John’s focus on the youth. He speaks directly to the younger generation in his debut literary work. He urges them to sit up and help rescue the nation from the brink of destruction.

The writer in the book exposes the danger of negative thoughts and low esteem.

According to him, in order to make changes in one’s life, one must change the way one use your mind.

The author chapterized the book into 11 segments with subheadings.

In the first chapter sub-titled, You are a human, the writer believes that the mind plays an important role in achieving every kind of success and goal, minor, everyday goals or major goals. “Your thoughts, which are part of your mind, possess power. The thoughts that you most often think tend to come true…” he noted.

He summed it up thus, “Your thoughts operate in particular frequency field and whatever is not in the frequency of your thoughts can never affect you…. Use power of your attention and focus good and positive choices.”

He also harped on the need for one to leave one’s past alone and as well leave a guilt-free life.

In the chapter, Shaibu revealed five tantalite signs that maybe eating up the quality of one’s life. He identified those signs as:

You void certain people or situations because they trigger shame memories.
You say no to opportunities because you believe you don’t deserve them
You tighten up or get defensive.
You rationalize of make excuses
When you play (and replay) the guilty act in your head, it kills your mood and energy leave.

In the second chapter: What defines your happiness, the writer defines happiness as a moral goal of life. He noted that anyone who abandons his or her mind cannot make the most out of life and this is where large percentage of life falls.

Chapters three and four tagged With love, there are no secret chambers, your future, shaped by your thoughts, Shaibu believes that love is the most powerful emotion a human being can experience. According to him, the word love is used and abused for expression of different sets of feelings.

He also capture the Anisa Aven’s ten ways to manifest one’s dream, such as:

keep the end in mind
Identify what you want
Except your dreams to come true
Imagine it in the now
Be energy efficient
Maintain a laser focus on what you want
Be unattached
Go on appreciation rampage and preserve attitude of gratitude
Let go of the past and follow your heart once and for all
Dream big.

Chapters five and six captures the: On breaking the big break and where is your powerhouse? The writer believes that most people struggle with mental health and one can see its manifestation everywhere around one.

He wrote, “The challenge many people struggle with is that they have forgotten who they really are…”

He, therefore challenges his readers to “go inside of you and face your fears…”

The sower, the harvest and the reaper in chapter seven, the writer harped on the need for his readers to sow bountifully for a bountiful harvest.

“If you want to reap a harvest, you must first sow (plant) the seed,” he wrote.

Chapters eight to eleven, the author who recalled his early struggle in life following the demise of his father, challenged his readers not to allow any situation pull one down.

CrimeCourt discharges Peace Corps Boss, Akoh in criminal suit by owukpa(op):
By Yemi Itodo

National Commandant of Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN), Amb. (Dr.) Dickson Akoh, was on Tuesday discharged of the 13-count criminal charges prefered against him by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Kpotum Idris.

The Nigeria Police had, in March 2017, slammed Akoh with a 90-count charge but later amended it to 13-count charge, after it was observed that most of the charges were repetitive.

But Justice John Tsoho, while ruling on a motion of notice filed by Barrister John Ochogwu, on behalf of Kanu Agabi Chamber, described the action of the Police asn"impunity", saying the Police authority lacks moral justification to prosecute Akoh in the criminal matter, until the Police Boss obeys subsisting court orders emanating from the suit.

Ochogwu, had, during a debate on the motion May 8, said "A defendant should be allowed time and facilities to defend himself. The office and some of the facilities of the defendant have been under lock since 1 year and 2 months. There is no way the defendant can defend himself when his facilities have been seized by the complainant".

Ochogwu submitted that, section 287 of the constitution empowers the court to enforce her own judgements, adding that, when prayers in the motion are granted, it would "serve as a deterrent to the executive or other arm of government which tend to disobey the orders of the court".

Justice Tsoho in his ruling, berrated the Police Boss for disobeying "orders of court of competent jurisdiction", adding that, "The act of the complainant/respondent is a flagrant abuse of the fundamental rights of the defendant/applicant".

The Judge asked Akoh to go home, until when the Police and the IGP are ready to obey court orders and unseal Peace Corps office.

"Justice is not for one party, justice is a multi edges sword. This court is mindful of Ochogwu's written address, where he stated that, according to section 36(6b) of the 1999 constitution, that a defendant is entitled to adequate time and facilities to defend himself.

"If the complainant wishes to continue with the matter, he should be ready to obey court orders. No person or institution should be seen to be above the law.

"This case will continue when concrete evidences are shown that the complainant has obeyed subsisting court judgements", Justice Tsoho ruled.

It will be recalled that, the Police clamped down on the Peace Corps of Nigeria on February 28th, 2017, arresting the National Commandant and 49 others, while sealing off the National Headquarters located at Jabi, Abuja.

Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court, however, had ruled in November 2017, asking the Police to unseal the facilities of Peace Corps of Nigeria, while awarding N12.5m damages against the Police.

Also, Justice John Tsoho in a separate suit, delivered judgement on 15th January, 2018, that the National Headquarters of Peace Corps be unsealed.

None of the judgements was obeyed and no valid stay of execution was obtained by the Police.

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions, had also, in February 2018, ordered that the Police Boss obeyed the subsisting court orders and unseal the office, but the complex, which has been under siege since February 28th 2017, has remained as such till date.

This was even as the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, had written to the the Police Boss, advising him to obey court orders and unseal the office, "in absence of any appeal or valid stay of execution".

The office, which the Peace Corps Commandant claimed to be paying N13.5m rent annually, is still under lock and keys with heavy presence of Police personnel and trucks.

Reacting to the ruling, the Peace Corps Boss, Akoh, said the court has clearly shown that it is the last hope of the common man.

Akoh said, "the Police knew they had nothing against us, they were only witchhunting us because they didn't want the President to sign the Peace Corps Bill. They were not prosecuting me, but they were persecuting me, we have been vindicated".

He, however, said he was not afraid of being prosecuted, adding that, he had enough materials to defend himself, but the Police should unseal his facilities and allow him have access to his materials for defence.

Neither the Police nor its counsel was at the court on Tuesday.

When contacted, the Commissioner of Police in charge of Legal Services at the Force Headquarters, David Igbodo, affirmed that the Police was no longer interested in the case.

"We are no longer interested in the matter. You can contact the office of the AGF", CP Igbodo told our reporter.

CrimeN195BN FRAUD: Senator Gaya’s Backtrack And The Maina Question by owukpa(op): 7:35am On Jun 12, 2018
Chairman of the Senate Joint Committee on States and Administration, Senator Kabiru Gaya, is currently on warpath with his colleagues for misleading them into taking a stance on members of the defunct Presidential Task Team on Pension Reforms, who were wrongly accused of stealing N195 billion.

Senators after reading Gaya had in a recent interview admitted that the money his committee alleged was stolen by the task team Chairman, Abdulrasheed Maina, was not actually stolen but forms part of the money President Buhari says is lodged in the treasury single Account, TSA.

According to his colleagues, the attention of the senate must be called to such grievous errors caused by a lopsided handling of oversight functions by its own committee, so as to save those who may have suffered as a result.

This is even as former Chairman of the defunct Presidential Task Team On Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina has reopened arguments on his innocence over the alleged plunder of N195 Billion from recoveries made by his committee, following recent revelations by the Senate Committee Chairman, Kabiru Gaya, to the effect that, the money was never siphoned as such, but forms part of funds currently saved in the treasury Single Account, TSA.

Maina who spoke to newsmen in Abuja said members of the task team deserve an apology from the Nigerian senate for smearing their names, and particularly from Senator Kabiru Gaya for telling lies against them and from the Federal Government for concealing the facts about the matter, even when they know the team members were innocent.

Maina said, his case is more grievous as none of the members of his team suffered any form of public odium like him, having been singled out for persecution because of the lies told about him by the senator, for which he was forced out of his job, and maligned severally over an issue that never existed. “I was singled out and I suffered so much as A result of the false allegation”, he insisted, saying, nothing short of an apology and
adequate compensation for all his sufferings can address his anger against a system he served dedicatedly all his life.

According to Abdulrasheed Maina, "it is really sad that the same man (Kabiru Gaya), who told the whole world that I stole N195 billion has come out to say that the money is intact in Buhari’s TSA account in the CBN, he must pay for destroying my character, integrity and the loss of my job. I was being haunted all around, and people who had confidence in me thought otherwise of me”, he lamented.

I was being haunted all around, and people who earlier had confidence in me now think otherwise” he lamented.

According to Mr. Maina who has been avoiding public attention since he was alleged to have been instrumental to the fraud of N195 billion, the last has not yet been heard from him as he will pursue justice, even though he has suffered enough for no cause.

According to the pension czar who has been avoiding public attention since he was alleged to have been instrumental to the fraud of N195 billion, the last has not yet been heard from him as he will pursue justice, even though he has suffered enough for no cause. Maina told newsmen in Abuja last Sunday that, Senator Kabiru Gaya and the Nigerian senate should have the courage to apologize to Nigerians and particularly to those they wrongly accused of stealing the n195Billion, as people have been scandalized by their action and their reputations put at stake because of the lousy manner the senate committee handled its oversight functions.

The Nigeria accountability forum, NAF, had earlier stated in a release that Kabiru Gaya may be dragged to court should he fail to apologize to Maina and members of the Task Team, who he along with another senator Aloysius Etuk had maligned in the clumsy manner the misguided the Nigerian Senate into destroying the character of Abdulrasheed Maina in particular.

The forum therefore called on the President to re-asses those that are being witch hinted. State the N1.3 trillion I saved/recovered for his Government

According to the forum, “No civil or public servant has ever recovered what Maina recovered to date. This the attorney general has confirmed this fact, then why the continued persecution of Maina even by some people in the presidency”

“How can honest civil or public servants come out to blow a whistle on corruption? No one will ever do that knowing what has been happening to Maina since he started fighting corruption even before the Buhari-led Government.

CrimeBenue Killings: Ortom To Hire ‘mama Boko Haram’ As Mediator; Leader Kicks by owukpa(op): 1:02pm On Jun 11, 2018
Respected elder and Benue community leader, Chief John Apochi, has warned the state governor, Samuel Ortom against importing Boko Haram sect into the state.

The Lagos-based community leader said he was irked the alleged plan by the governor to invite Mrs. Aisha Alkali Walkil, otherwise known as Mama Boko Haram, who disguised as peace ambassador and chief negotiator, over herders/farmers clashes in the state.

According to Apochi, Ortom’s fresh attempts to embalm the herders/farmer clashes with the coat of Boko Haram terrorism, with the purported hiring of a very suspicious and questionable character, Mrs. Aisha Alkali Wakil to play mediatory roles between herders/ farmers would spell doom for the already troubled state.

In a thought-provoking letter penned to the governor and obtained by our reporter on Monday, the outspoken Benue leader called on Ortom to rescind his decision.

He averred that the people of the state would hold him responsible should he ignores wise counsel to migrate Mrs. Wakil into our state to spy for Boko Haram terrorists

The four-page letter reads in full.

I am an indigene of Benue state, a Nigerian and a Benue Community leader in Lagos. I am compelled to scribble these few lines to you because I have foreseen danger in your recent steps in handling the herders/farmers crises plaguing our state. To be forewarned is to be forearmed and I write this epistle to you in good faith, believing that you will carefully reflect on the issues raised herein.

Security issues are very delicate and one wrong step could lead to a string of catastrophic consequences. The heightened herders/farmers crises in our state have gone to very complex and frightening dimensions as well as its mutated terrorism character. I am sure, you are shocked by the sheer magnitude it has assumed because of glaringly faulty steps and decisions you have taken and imposed on the state on the conflict.

The deaths and destructions arising from the conflict has given every patriotic and responsible Nigerian leader cause for concern. People of the state are most disturbed and all hands must be on deck to fetch a solution to it, wherever it is hidden. The situation on our hands does not create space for pretenses, as it appears probable now from your handling of the matter.

I am quite clear, as the Benue State Governor and Chief Security Officer of the state, you are not oblivious of the resonating voices of internal forces promoting acts of violence, killings and destructions, which is thoughtlessly blamed on Fulani herdsmen.

The suspected involvement of a Boko Haram member and chairman of the Benue State Livestock Guards, Aliyu Tashaku, your kinsman and four others in the festering crises, suspects who have been arraigned in Court further means claims of local criminal gangs escalating the crisis for personal monetary benefits cannot be entirely dismissed, while we await court verdict on those arrested and charged to court.

It is therefore, very necessary and germane for you to take measured steps, evolve very honest remedies which are tested and trusted to end the conflagration between herders/farmers in our state. To posture, as if you delight in the killings, destructions and escalation of the crises is getting some of us nervous, as it questions your sincerity of purpose.

Your Excellency, I was shocked and saddened to read on online media your fresh attempts to embalm the herders/farmer clashes with the coat of Boko Haram terrorism, with the purported hiring of a very suspicious and questionable character, Mrs. Aisha Alkali Wakil to play mediatory roles between herders/ farmers.

She disclosed this arrangement in an interview she granted reporters at the ceremony of your investiture as Patron and Matron on your wife, Mrs. Eunice Ortom by Scout Association of Nigeria, Benue State Council in Makurdi recently.

Mr. Governor, the comments credited to you indicated you are in total agreement with this arrangement, as you reportedly assured the “Peace Ambassador” (Mrs. Wakil ) of “State Government’s necessary support and cooperation to succeed in the negotiation.”

I cannot understand your excitement over the overtly flawed arrangement. Could it be that the Mrs. Wakil’s bogus title of “Peace Ambassador and Chief negotiator” in the fight Boko Haram Terrorists have unleashed on Nigeria, that is the passionate attraction to a woman widely known as Mama Boko Haram?

Did you care to find out her background and the level of her commitment to Boko Haram terrorists beyond what she flaunts in public domain? What have these findings revealed? What has erased the possibility that Mrs. Wakil could be a masked agent and spy of Boko Haram terrorists, you have accepted with open arms in the state? How did she become your guest in the state? The questions are in dozens, begging for answers.

What have you gathered as the success or track records of this “Peace Ambassador and Chief Negotiator” in her performance for the several times she claimed to engage Boko Haram leaders on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria, (FGN) and was allegedly paid sumptuous sums under former President Goodluck Jonathan? You should know better because you were a Minister under the Jonathan Presidency.

Mr. Governor Sir, we are all living witnesses in Nigeria that the negotiation roles Mrs. Wakil spearheaded with leaders of Boko Haram terrorism failed woefully, outside the enrichment of the so-called negotiators. And Boko Haram insurgency rather waxed stronger and stronger against the Nigerian people until President Muhammadu Buhari took decisive actions when he assumed the reins of leadership in 2015.

Mr. Governor, before someone playing such sensitive and critical roles is contracted, it is based on his or her proven records and credentials of competence and positive results in previous assignments. But I am particularly confused and downcast that the character in focus has no such records of performance anywhere. Where can you point otherwise or to the contrary?

And by my judgment, she passes as one of the many spin doctors we have in this country feeding fat, by exploiting crisis situations for pecuniary benefits.

Mr. Governor Sir, a simple check on google would reveal to you that this Peace Ambassador you intend to falsely venerate was declared wanted sometimes in 2016 by the Nigerian Army. She and her two other accomplices have remained subjects controversies within the intelligence circles and it will do us some good to find out from the right quarters if are safe or have brought home another Tashaku upon ourselves.

Therefore, I am compelled to remind you of some indisputable and deafening facts concerning the personage of Mrs. Wakil. May you have it at the back of your mind that President Buhari never contemplated hiring her for any negotiation with Boko Haram, even though the President was keen to end terrorism, and ready to explore every available option at his disposal. But he ignored Mrs. Wakil and the likes. It means he did not trust her.

The Borno State Government did not also engage the services of Mama Boko Haram to assist it battle Boko Haram terrorism. Basically, we learn and take informed decisions from experiences. This should also compel you to hold her in high suspicion, as against the present embrace.

Secondly Mama Boko Haram did not end Boko Haram terrorism, but the sustained efforts and determination of the Nigerian military extinguished the fire of terrorism on Nigerians. It is therefore absurd and absolutely irrational for you to think Mrs. Wakil’s mediatory roles can end herders/farmers crises in your state, which have clearly assumed terrorism traits.

Mr. Governor Sir, I want to believe you are so shamefully and pathetically confused about the conflagration you have plunged our state into, with the herders/farmers crises. Hiring Mrs. Wakil as negotiator is yet another subtle exposure of your mindset as supporting and importing terrorism into Benue State.

Tashaku has escaped from your hands, with his arrest and arraignment in court by security agents and now, you want to implant his successor, Mama Boko Haram (Mrs. Wakil) in the guise of negotiation over herders/farmers crises? Can you explain to Benue people what has convinced you that Mama Boko Haram is not a member of the Boko Haram sect and may be in the state on espionage mission? And you thoughtlessly embraced her. What we may hear next is the escalation of killings or conflict.

Mr Governor Sir, please do our people the favour of rescinding that decision. It is fraught with everything evil and we shall hold you strictly responsible should you ignore wise counsel to migrate Mrs. Wakil into our state to spy for Boko Haram terrorists. If dialogues is necessary in conflicts situations, as you emphasized, to what extent have you dialogued with leaders of Fulani herdsmen on this issue? Enough of these pretenses.

I appreciate your audience and may Almighty God open your blindfolded eyes to the light of truth, justice, fairness and also, imbue you with a conscience that is alive to act properly.

Yous in Service

Chief John Apochi ,
Benue Community Leader,
Lagos.
