Taiwo Akinkunmi: Designer of Nigeria’s flag honoured in Abuja, placed on N500k monthly salary for life Pa. Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi OFR, the designer of Nigeria's national flag, commonly called "Mr. Flag Man" was on Saturday honoured in Abuja for his contribution to Nigeria. The elder statesman, who clocked 83 last May, was also placed on N500k monthly stipend for life by the Nzenweofor Group at the just concluded maiden edition of the LACLIC GOLDEN HEROES AWARD held at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotel Abuja. Speaking during the well-attended event, Chief Ndubuisi Nzenweofor, the CEO of the Nzenweofor Group, said the award was put together to honour Nigerians who have laboured to put the country on the world map. “Just like we sing in the first stanza of our National Anthem that the labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain, this is one of the ways to ensure that the sacrifices they made for this country are not in vain. “Pa. Akinkunmi is a perfect example of one of the heroes and this is one of the ways to honour them. We have so many of them around the country, dead and alive and we must honour them in their graves,” he said. WWW.IDOMAVOICE.COM gathered that the Nzenweofor Group had paid two months salary upfront for Pa. Akinkunmi’s upkeep. The also decried the fact that no street in Abuja has been named after the national hero. Just last week, the Nzenweofor Group also donated 500 bags of rice and N3m cash to wives of late military personnel, under the umbrella of Military Widows Association (MIWA). Mrs. Veronica Aloko, who is the National President of the group, confirmed receipt of the items. The event was witnessed by top politicians, entertainers and many Nigerians including minister designate and former Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Dame Pauline Tallen, Alh Danladi Pasali, the National Coordinator Buhari Campaign Organization. Others were Nollywood stars, Ramsey Noah, Zack Orji, Ejike Asiegbu, Segun Arinze, Francis Ordega and host of others. Here are pictures from the event. source>>>http://www.idomavoice.com/2019/08/taiwo-akinkunmi-designer-of-nigerias-flag-honoured-in-abuja-placed-on-n500k-monthly-salary-for-life.html L

A civil society organization under the aegis of the Peace and Justice Forum has commended President Muhammadu Buhari obeying court order, which allowed the embattled leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, to embark on medical vacation overseas. Recall that a Kaduna court led by Justice Darius Khobo, had on August 5 granted El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat, leave to travel abroad for medical treatment. The group said by that singular gesture, the government proved that their detention and trial were not in bad faith but were necessary steps taken in national interest. Addressing newsmen on Sunday, the group through its President, Elder Andrew John Onuche, urged the court to commence the trial of the IMN leader without delay. The group further called on el-Zakzaky's counsel, Chief Femi Falana (SAN) and his supporters to prevail on him to defend himself in the court where he is being tried and stop the unnecessary comedy of embarking on medical tourism as an escape plot. The statement below. Gentlemen of the press, for the past several months, Nigeria came under attacks from the radical and extremist elements of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN). They first relocated their violence from Kaduna to the nation’s capital, Abuja and eventually spread their disruptive activities to other cities across the country. These extremist activities only mellowed after the court proscribed IMN as a terrorist organization in accordance with the anti-terrorism legislation in Nigeria. The basis for these violent protests was the excuse that IMN militants were protesting for their leader, Mr Ibraheem el-Zakzaky to be freed even though he was in custody while being tried for treason, murder and sundry crimes. While the protests began as unruly affairs that involve IMN members menacing innocent Nigerians and depriving them from moving freely about their daily business, the propaganda lunched - with the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran – that el-Zakzaky was mortally sick became a basis for them to engage in full blown terrorist activities, including a brazen attempt to overthrow the National Assembly as well as targeted assassination of police officers and journalists. Note that a group of doctors from Iran visited el-Zakzaky and his wife in detention came up with a catalogue of ailments that hinted the leader of the terrorist organization may have only weeks to live if he was not urgently flown abroad for treatment. They created the impression that the hospitals in Nigeria are unable to treat his ailments. This assertion was curiously reinforced by a team of 186 doctors from seven countries, who were mostly Shias like el-Zakzaky. We thank the Federal Government for taking the humanitarian step of allowing el-Zakzaky and his wife to seek treatment abroad, even when acceding to this request appeared like pandering to the demands of terrorists. By that singular gesture the government proved that his detention and trial were not in bad faith but were necessary steps taken in national interest. El-Zakzaky is now back in Nigeria as the authorities in India found him insufferable and disruptive to the point that they were not able to put up with his behaviour for 72 hours – law-abiding Nigerians should thus be commended for enduring decades of this plague in human form. He was simply belligerent. He pestered the security accompanying him to return his passport during a Dubai stop-over, he wanted to be checked into a five-star hotel, he rejected treatment from one hospital and rejected assigned doctors when he eventually got to his preferred hospital. He refused to submit for pre-treatment tests but was rather receiving an assortment of visitors and above all made a video broadcast that gave him away as a scam, a fraud. It is worthy of mention that El-Zakzaky only sought a medical vacation as a ruse to escape. His must have thought that only himself, his Iranian handlers and lieutenants were aware of the nefarious reasons for acting the way he did but facts are now emerging. It is now known that had he been given his passport as requested he would have later requested to use the toilet facilities from where he would have sneaked out into the waiting hands of his Iranian handlers who had a private jet positioned to take off within minutes. Had he been checked into a five-star hotel as requested his Iranian handlers had infiltrated the place and would have drugged the security team and proceed to ferrying him to Iran. The same arrangement was made as a fallback option when he was checked into Medanta Hospital, which explains his frustration when he discovered that India had a full complement of security to support the Nigerian team. Seeing that the game was up he became irritable and dramatic. It should be noted that the rejection the assigned team of doctors and declining to submit for new medical tests was because both instances would have led to the discovery that the ailments, they had reported, were either a ruse or highly exaggerated. It is a development that would have made self-respecting countries withdrew the medical licenses of these doctors that placed their sectarian affiliation above professional ethics. There are however positive aspects that have emerged from the entire saga. We have found out that the “el-Zakzaky is sick and dying” story is a big fat lie, a pig in a poke. As one social media user, Kikute, puts it on Twitter: “Zakzaky walked. He talked. He glanced at his wristwatch and said the time. He is seeing clearly with his two eyes. Zakzaky is not sick. Baba Falana...nooooooo”. The whole of this is a conspiracy to assist him in escaping to Iran to direct IMN’s terrorism from there. From his assertion that the security around him in India made Kirikiri Prison to feel like a five-star hotel, it can now be concluded that law enforcement and the military in Nigeria have shown him such courtesy as he and his group do not extend to other citizens. It has equally been proven that he has received in Nigeria the kind of medical treatment that assured him to reject treatment in India. Another fact that has emerged from el-Zakzaky's aborted medical tourism in India is that through the video broadcast he made confirmed that he is not remorseful for the deaths he has caused – his members, military and law enforcement personnel, journalists and innocent Nigerians have died from situations created by him. It is now clear that he will make inciting multimedia messages to urge members of the IMN terrorist organization to launch attacks against Nigerians if the mistake is ever made of allowing him escape to Iran then the world should brace for such terrorism has never been experienced before. We call on el-Zakzaky's counsel, Chief Femi Falana (SAN) and his supporters to prevail on him to defend himself in the court where he is being tried and stop the unnecessary comedy of embarking on medical tourism as an escape plot. He may think he is engaged in a juvenile game of hide and seek but it is grossly irresponsible to squander taxpayers fund the way he did on his India trip. Our expectation is that those who were deceived into being sympathetic to el-Zakzaky's the IMN’s cause now have a vista into what they have been supporting. Nigerians should begin to question the NGOs that had sold the lies that the IMN is an armless group. Even as we commend the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for giving el-Zakzaky the privilege to have gone on the Indian medical trip, we urge that there should be no further waste of taxpayers’ money for what has now been proven to be an escape bid. Such funds should rather be channelled into rehabilitating repentant IMN members. The government should in the meantime approach the court to note how the accused abused the travel leave granted by the court for making the inciting video broadcast. It should as well send a commendation not to the government and people of India for their support in managing the situation in a way that it was not internationalized like the IMN and Iran wanted. The Nigerian government should equally run its own set of medical tests to establish the lies told by the Iranian doctors and supported by the group of 186 doctors with a view to reporting the other doctors (that are not Iranian) for medical malpractice. They abused their position of influence by lending themselves to a terrorist plot. It is our sincere wish that these exposure of the sham by el-Zakzaky, his legal counsel, doctors, IMN, Iran, and retainer NGOs will bring closure to the demonizing of the Nigerian state. http://www.idomavoice.com/2019/08/el-zakzakky-group-commends-buhari-for-obeying-court-on-imn-leaders-medical-vacation-asks-court-to-commence-trial.html

Fresh facts have emerged over the recent clash between men of the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police and some personnel of the Nigerian Army in Ibbi area of Taraba State. Recall that the two security agencies have been at loggerheads over the killings of some cops in Taraba State penultimate week ago. However, latest revelation by the Taraba Truth and Justice Committee showed that there might be a political dimension to the clash. According to the group, the clash might not be unconnected with the ongoing power tussle between the All Progressives Congress, APC, senatorial candidate, Ishaku Bauka, and his Peoples Democratic Party’s counterpart, Emmanuel Bwacha, that won the election. The Taraba Truth and Justice Committee said it was able to establish beyond a reasonable doubt that indeed what happened in Ibbi was a fall out of a political disagreement between two prominent politicians who have been trying to outsmart each other using the instrument of the Nigeria Police Force. In an investigative report released by the group on Friday, the group said the kidnap suspect, Hamisu Wadume might be working for one of the politicians, hence, the clash between the security agencies. The report signed by its President, Josiah Kifasi, called on the federal government to as a matter of urgency invite top politicians from Taraba South Senatorial District for questioning on what they know about the activities of Hamisu Wadume. The report reads in full. The Taraba Truth and Justice Committee a select committee was set up by concerned stakeholders in Taraba state to unravel the mystery surrounding events that led to the death of three IRT operatives who went on a mission to the effect that arrest of an alleged kidnapping kingpin Hamisu Wadume in Taraba state. The committee was mandated amongst other things to reveal the identities of the key actors in the skirmish, with the view to putting issues in proper perspective and to aid the presidential investigative panel in the task ahead of them. Consequently, the Taraba Truth and Justice Committee carried out a detailed investigation on the security concerns in Taraba state by interacting with identified key players within Ibbi community and Jalingo the state capital. Critical stakeholders in the state were consulted, and their opinions and positions put side by side with the prevailing realities. The Taraba Truth and Justice Committee were able to establish that the incident in Ibbi was not a happenstance. It is a result of a history of political gladiators wielding their powers in a bid to outsmart each other. This is on the heels that the battle for the control of Taraba South Senatorial district is a significant factor that might have led to the skirmishes that resulted recently. The Taraba Truth and Justice Committee were not able to fully establish the fact that Hamisu Wadume is a kidnapper. Though he lives a questionable lifestyle, he is known to be a supporter of political party bigwigs in the state, especially in Taraba South Senatorial District. His known source of livelihood as it were was fish selling and how he was able to amass wealth requires further investigations by the relevant authorities. The Taraba Truth and Justice Committee were able to identify some grey areas where the relationship between the Nigerian Police and the Nigerian Army went soar in the security architecture of the state. The Taraba Truth and Justice Committee were able to establish the fact that there is an ongoing battle of supremacy between the Nigerian Police and the Nigerian Army in Taraba state. The fiercely contested elections in Taraba South Senatorial District between Emmanuel Bwacha of the People’s Democratic Party and Ishaku Bauka of the All Progressives Congress might have some security implications in the district, which houses to house Ibbi. The Taraba Truth and Justice Committee were able to establish beyond a reasonable doubt that indeed what happened in Ibbi is a fall out of a political disagreement between two prominent politicians who have been trying to outsmart each other using the instrument of the Nigerian Police Force. It can thus be stated that selfish politicians in the state are responsible for the level of insecurity experienced in the state. They have spared no cost or method, including buying the Nigerian Police over to achieve their political agenda. The Taraba Truth and Justice Committee states that after an extensive deliberations and interactions, Hamisu Wadume might be working for one of the politicians, which in turn gave the politician undue advantage over the other and as such the Nigerian Police was called in to effect his arrest in an attempt to whittle the political power Hamisu Wadume brings to the table for his paymaster. This is also on the heels that Hamisu Wadume commands significant grassroots following due to his generous nature, and with this advantage, he has been able to play himself into a position of strength and relevance in the political arena. The Taraba Truth and Justice Committee were able to establish that part of the issue in the state in the build-up to the 2023 gubernatorial elections where the battle to succeed the incumbent governor has started in earnest. So as such politicians with interest have begun making ways for the actualizing of their political ambitions and one of such ways it was established is a clampdown of those loyal to their perceived opponents. The Taraba Truth and Justice Committee after a painstaking process, regrettably conclude that the activities of selfish politicians in the state if not curtailed might turn Taraba state into a killing field. The fact that there is an unholy alliance between the Nigerian Police in Taraba State and politicians portends great danger for the sustenance of peace and tranquillity in the state. The Taraba Truth and Justice Committee in light of the avalanche of information at its disposal with regards to the unfortunate incident in Ibbi that led to the death of three police officers attached to the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team, as a result of this make the following recommendations: That the federal government should as a matter of urgency invite top politicians from Taraba South Senatorial District for questioning on what they know about the activities of Hamisu Wadume. That the federal government should investigate the closeness of the hierarchy of the Taraba State Police Command to top politicians in the state and why it took the intervention of the members of the IRT from Abuja to effect an arrest in Taraba state. The Federal government must mandate the Taraba state government to provide answers on why the activities of political thugs fester unhindered in the state. That there should be sweeping deployments of police and army officers in the state with immediate effect. The Shehu of Bama Kingdom of Borno State, Kyari Ibn Umar El-Kanemi, has expressed delight after his people joined the rest of the world to mark the first Eid-el-Kabir celebration in his domains. According to the monarch, this was the first time in almost five years the community partook in the religious feast celebrated across the globe by all Muslims. "Today we are celebrating Sallah in Bama which we were not privileged to celebrate for the past five years,” an utterly elated Shehu stated on Monday. “ Indeed we have to be grateful to Allah SWT for sparing our lives and non among us here today that is thinking to live up to this moment to grace this Sallah celebration in Bama." Bama was the target of Boko Haram terrorists in the past, forcing natives and other inhabitants to flee their homes. Umar El-Kanemi, the traditional ruler wasn't spared as his wife and daughter were reportedly abducted in 2014 and released two years after. The monarch, alongside his counterpart from Dikwa, Masa II Ibn Umar El Kanemi, even fled their communities to reside in Maiduguri. However, peace has since been restored to the area thanks to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigerian Army under the dogged leadership of Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai. As part of the rehabilitation and reconstruction process, the monarchs returned in July in company of local government staff and primary school teachers accompanied by troops of Operation Lafiya Dole who regained the Kingdom back from Boko Haram terrorists . An eyewitness account revealed that there was free movement of people around the town, especially in public places without fear of any violence or attacks by Boko Haram throughout the Sallah season . There was also a mass prayer on Sunday for the first time in a long while, led by the monarch himself. All these feats have been attributed to the gallantry of the Nigerian military and a decisive leadership

Former CP, Tsav sues for calm between Police and Army, as presidential committee investigates shooting of police personnel Elder statesman and former Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, has called for calm in the ongoing face-off between the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force. The two security agencies have been at loggerheads over the killings of some cops in Taraba State earlier in the week. Tsav, a former Public Complaints Commissioner, called on both parties to cease media fireworks while the committee of inquiry investigates the root cause of the incident. The former CP in a statement on Friday, appealed to the Nigeria Police Force to cease fuether media attacks on the Army which is a sister agency and partner in progress while focusing on apprehending the escaped kidnap suspect, Alhaji Hamisu Bala Wadume. He further stated that the Police must enforce identifiable uniforms by men and officers embarking on special operations in order to avoid such misfortune in the future. His statement reads. I am saddened by the avoidable death of three members of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police Force another civilian under circumstances that are now the subject of an investigation ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari. From my experience as a retired police officer, the death of colleagues in the line of duty is saddening and depressing with the emotional toll becoming heavier when the loss of life is as result of friendly fire. The deceased members of the IRT, Insp. Mark Edaile, Sgt. Usman Danzumi, and Sgt. Dahiru Musa died in an encounter with soldiers of the Nigerian Army. It is a situation that provokes a long string of regrets as survivors and authorities contemplate what could have been done differently. We must however grieve responsibly. I have observed a worrisome trend since the incident in which the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army are engaged in fireworks of blame trading, which in my view amounts to desecrating the memory of the deceased officers. The accusations and counter accusations between both sister agencies, if anything, is encouraging kidnappers, terrorists and bandits – giving them the impression that those tasked with getting rid of them are at loggerheads and in disarray. The energy being channelled into recriminations is better directed at continuing with tackling the security breaches confronting the country even as the nation seeks answers to what transpired. Our focus should be on getting full closure by leveraging the investigation ordered by Mr President to get to the bottom of what happed. This should be with a view of using lessons from this exercise to prevent a repeat of the tragic Taraba incident. Without prejudice to what the investigation will find, based on information provided so far, and as an immediate measure, I advise the Nigeria Police Force to immediately enforce the requirements for identifiable uniforms and properly marked cars for the kind of operation that resulted in this tragedy. The imperative for this is underscored by a few other instances where members of the IRT team came under attack from members of the public that mistook them for criminals because of the way they dress in mufti and the kind of vehicles they use for their operation. Although this is not to dismiss the need for operationally suitable apparels for undercover operations. There should also be a review of information sharing and collaboration among the relevant security agencies in the country to prevent further loss of life to friendly fire. Security agencies should routinely keep each other informed when and where their geographical areas of operation overlap, besides helping to prevent blue on blue incidents it will also increase the likelihood of criminals being apprehended. Meanwhile, I appeal to President Buhari to direct the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army to cease their ongoing media war while focusing on apprehending the escaped kidnap suspect, Alhaji Hamisu Bala Wadume and other criminals as their way of expressing their displeasure with what transpired, if they must. My thoughts are with families, colleagues and loved ones of the bereaved as I pray that God grants peaceful repose to their souls.

AI: Protesters vow to commence 40 days civil disobedience over NGOs refusal to leave Nigeria The Coalition for Civil Rights and Good Governance has threatened to embark on "40 days civil disobedience" over the refusal_of Amnesty International to leave the shores of Nigeria. The group stated this on the 7th day of its occupy Amnesty International office, Abuja over its alleged connivance with some agents of destabilization to cause unrest in Nigeria. CCRGG vowed not to give up until the NGO leaves Nigeria. Addressing newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja, Princes Ajibola, President of the group, averred that "If we are pushed to begin the 40 days occupation, our member will make a daily advance of one metre upon the premises of Amnesty International until we enter its reception, workstations, conference room and offices to bodily throw out its staffers and escort them to the airport." He statement below. Seven days ago, we took the bold step of standing up for our country by openly confronting the monster that threatens its future in the form of an international non-governmental organization called Amnesty International. We consistently occupied the Amnesty International for the seven-day period irrespective of the intense blackmail and propaganda directed at us by the NGO. In the course of the seven days, over two million protestors took part in the anti-Amnesty International protests in Lagos and more than one million participated in Abuja under rain, sun and unwarranted brutality from Amnesty International. The occupation has been illuminating for us because it surfaced a lot of facts and useful information that were hitherto in the realm of conjecture. For one, we have been able to establish that the conspiracy against the existence of Nigeria is more extensive and elaborate than previously thought. While Amnesty International is the arrowhead of the foreign component of this evil agenda, it has a large network of other NGOs, CSOs and even quasi-business entities that are running errands for it – these are the groups that jointly issued statements to condemn the occupation of Amnesty International’s office. Individuals that are on its payroll equally exposed themselves as such by condemning our action. The extent of Amnesty International’s infiltration of Nigeria is alarming to a point where it even has the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on a leash like a dog. It launched NHRC like an attack dog against this protest in an act of desperation forgetting that it has exposed the lapses at the Commission in terms of playing its own role of monitoring issues of human rights in Nigeria. We now understand that NHRC deliberately abandoned its duties to create a vacuum for Amnesty International to exploit. Our protest exposed this unholy alliance, which forced NHRC to tediously attempt to disparage our efforts. Not to be left out are members of the opposition. The people that contracted Amnesty International to run local side shows for them in the course of implementing its internationally hatched destabilization agenda. They owned and tele-guide the proscribed organizations like IMN and IPOB as well as anarchist movements like RevolutionNow and DaysofRage, which have been deployed to cause widespread violence. Even as we occupied its offices, the NGO continued to defend the rights of these groups to destroy Nigeria without being challenged or prevented from doing so. It defended their incitement and call to violence as “freedom of speech”. For those that ever doubted that Amnesty International is interested in plunging into war, its sponsorship of the fake revolution by the proscribed and anarchist movements against the democratically elected Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari is a final proof that should jolt all patriotic citizens into action. We should be alarmed that upon being found out as a subversive organization, instead of giving up its destabilization agenda, Amnesty International has rather intensified its attack on the Nigerian state while urging that inciting and hate speech should be allowed as “freedom of expression”. This strategy had served the NGO in other countries that are today in disarray and it is to our collective peril to allow it replicate same successfully in Nigeria. It is instructive that Amnesty International and its allies have condemned our occupation of its offices while decrying our call for more Nigerians to join the protests against its subversive activities while defending the rights of anarchist movements to do exactly the same thing and even worse against the Nigerian state and its government. The implication is that the NGO is not willing to accept the treatment it is encouraging its clients to give the federal government. It is clear that this organization knows that the people it is supporting are doing the wrong thing but it is defending them simply because it wants to get at the government and weaken it. It was discovered that the protests being backed by Amnesty International are a fallback position after its support for Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) did not translate into an ability to penetrate metropolitan cities and carry out attacks against places of interests. An option to use violent protests by IMN and IPOB similarly failed. But we have also learnt that this NGO has no desire of giving up on its destabilization agenda as it will always plot new schemes to achieve its goals whenever its strategy is defeated. This is why we have resolved that Amnesty International must leave Nigeria now. We stood up, as a coalition of several groups, to challenge its subversive activities in the last seven days. We expect that this organization will use the benefit of the end of the seven days occupation to slink away at night because criminals are accustomed to making their getaway under the cover of darkness. But where we discover that the NGO continues to violate the space of Nigeria by remaining in the country after these seven days of occupation, we want to categorically warn that the various groups may be forced to return on Monday, this time for a round 40 of days of occupation. If we are pushed to begin the 40 days occupation, our member will make a daily advance of one metre upon the premises of Amnesty International until we enter its reception, workstations, conference room and offices to bodily throw out its staffers and escort them to the airport. The 40 days will witness impassioned Nigerians overrunning this Office with their properties to permanently occupy the place until the needful is done. It is reassuring that more Nigerians have indicate interest to join the occupation that will expel the monster that is threatening Nigeria from the jurisdiction of the country. We salute the patriotism of these people that have indicated commitment to act even before they are called upon just as we salute all Nigerians that have come out in solidarity with this protest. We shall keep everyone up to date on the status of the protest and when the 40 days of occupation will begin. Finally, we want to put Amnesty International, its allies and supporters on notice that there will be no giving up until it shuts down its operations and leave Nigeria. The worst that can happen is for it to unleash law enforcement agents of thugs on us and we are prepared.

RevolutionNow: Coalition reveals how foreign interests spent over 500million USD on Sowore Shocking revelations have emerged on the botched anti-government protest tagged 'Revolution Now' being championed by Omoyele Sowore. This is just as latest indications have it that some foreign interests spent over 500million USD on Sowore and his group to cause chaos across the country. The Coalition for on Nigeria, which made this revelation, claimed that the said amount of monies were released to the organizers of RevolutionNow, led by Sowore, to stage the nationwide protest in a bid to topple the democratically elected government of President Muhammadu Buhari. Addressing newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja, Johnson Adelowo Olusola National President of CON, called for further investigation into the action. It further vowed to hold responsible any of the security agencies that allows the sovereignty of Nigeria to be violated without acting to bring the perpetrators to book. The group, however, reaffirmed commitment to indivisibility of Nigeria under President Buhari. His speech below. A lot is being said across Nigeria about the failed protests that were intended to cripple cities across the country. The protests were alternately branded #RevolutionNow or #DaysofRage. International collaborators of the protesters had tried hard to present it to Nigerians as the equivalent of Arab Spring in Nigeria, an illusion of popular revolt or citizen’s uprising. On the contrary, the protests were being paid for, both by the opposition in Nigeria and foreign interests that are interested in destabilizing Nigeria, and there is nothing spontaneous about them. The organizers of the protests had tried their best to incite public anger but were disappointed that the populace see hope in the direction the current elected leadership of Nigeria is taking the country. This failure to incite the population made the organizers, notably the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore to demand and receive additional funds from these international sponsors in the hope of swaying citizen with money. It is against this background that the Coalition for One Nigeria wishes to bring to the notice of Nigerians the grand plot by these enemies of Nigeria to cause a crisis of phenomenal proportion in the country using proxies that appear to have garnered some level of public clout in the society. Nigerians should note that the moment the arrowhead of the attempted coup was arrested, other collaborators in the insidious project to disrupt Nigeria were immediately activated to begin castigating the government. The Coalition for One Nigeria have it on competent authority that vast sums of monies were released to the organizers of RevolutionNow, led by Sowore, to stage the nationwide protest in a bid to topple the democratically elected government of President Muhammadu Buhari. From all the information gathered, the convener of the RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore received the sum of $500,000,000 (Five Hundred Million Dollars) to mobilize street protests against the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari across the country. The objective was to be able to pay daily allowances to paid protesters such that they could abandon their day jobs and take to the streets to create a semblance of dissent. The meeting at which the amount was agreed had the sponsors telling Sowore to study the execution of the Arab Spring and the 2014 Ukrainian Orange Revolution during which protesters were able to stay weeks on the streets without running shot of money. Accordingly, the sum of $100 million was budgeted for protest in Lagos, and the disbursement would have been such that would see hired units of protesters receiving as much as one thousand dollars daily. It was also discovered that the same $100 million was budgeted for Abuja the Federal Capital Territory. The protest slated for Abuja is meant to be intense since Abuja is the seat of power and each cell of protesters would share as much as $3000 daily among its members. The sum of $5 million was also budgeted for other states in Nigeria to see to the success of the protest nationwide. The sum of $50 million was also budgeted to be paid to some high profile lawyers and leaders of thought to agitate on behalf of the RevolutionNow movement in the event of any clash with relevant security agencies. The protests however flopped and failed to attract the expected turnout after the disbursed funds were diverted by the convener. The Coalition for One Nigeria has it on competent authority that Omoyele Sowore short-changed some of the individuals that brokered the deal and they vowed to expose him and his sponsors should he fail to give them their share of the money. This story first came to light following the arrest of Omoyele Sowore, which some of his estranged associates believed he contrived to evade accounting for the funds he has privatized and refused to distribute as agreed. Without prejudice to whatever crimes the Department of State Services has arrested Sowore for, the Coalition for One Nigeria hereby calls on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to commence investigations into the source of the funds deployed to sponsor the RevolutionNow movement. This should be with a view to tracking the connection between foreign agents and the protest movement. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission must as a matter of urgency, investigate and make public its findings of those that are complicit in the whole deal for justice to take its cause. We urge other security agencies to assess how this development relate to their areas of core mandate and to the necessary steps to identify and try anyone found to have plotted to sabotage Nigeria. The Coalition for One Nigeria will hold responsible any of the security agencies that allows the sovereignty of Nigeria to be violated without acting to bring the perpetrators to book, this will include those that allow such nefarious protests to hold despite the glaring fact that it is sponsored against the unity of Nigeria. The likes of Omoyele Sowore must not be allowed to toy with the destinies of over 200 million Nigerians due to the monies he received from external sources to lead the ill-fated protest. We cannot but end this address by calling on all Nigerians to join hands with the Coalition for One Nigeria to collaborate with us on efforts to unite the citizenry across ethnic and religious lines. Our demonstration of unity today has shown to the world that Nigeria is better United than divided and no external force can break our resolve. The National Interfaith and Religious Organisations for Peace (NIFROP) has commenced a 40 days’ program of fasting and prayers for the unity of Nigeria. This was contained in a statement by Sheik Ahmad Jibrin, a Co-Convener at the Unity Fountain in Abuja. He stated that the program is at the prompting of the spirit to pray for the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari at the General Election, having seen the revelation that he is God’s choice for ushering Nigeria into greatness. “We give thanks to God that all that was promised Nigeria have come to pass. In spite of the drums of war beaten by those that were opposed to peace across the country, the Almighty silenced their fury, and the land survived the war and pestilence. The fruits of the evil being planned by those opposed to peace in Nigeria are the killings, kidnappings, banditry, and terrorism that often threaten to engulf the land. However, God has been faithful.” He stated. The cleric further added that the former leaders in Nigerian need to sober reflect in their actions and inactions in the attempt to make Nigeria great again. “Our former leaders need deliverance. They have become as wise ones who do not know the way to the gate of the city. They seek to undo the damage of their reigns by glossing over the crimes they committed against the country without genuine contrition of heart but rather plying our dear nation with empty words and treatises that testify to their desire to have the present system fail.” “Some past leaders have a hand in the killings across the country, and we must as God’s elect relay the message to them that they are being called to repent. They should release Nigeria from all the covens where they have taken the destiny of the country to so that things can again be well with them while the final palls of darkness over Nigeria can lift so that God’s glory can manifest and liberate the citizens whose quality of life they are holding hostage with their grip on stolen national resources and the lies they are telling to hold onto their spoils.” Sheik Ahmad Jibrin also debunked the Islamization rumour making the rounds in the country, describing it as. the handiwork of distractors and those with skeletons in their cupboards. “The fallacy of Islamization agenda that they have launched to pitch Christians against Muslims when, in reality, there is no Islamization agenda anywhere. What we have is the agenda by looters of Nigeria to escape the claws of the law that are closing upon them. What we have is the agenda by looters of Nigeria to escape the claws of the law that are closing upon them. They forget that they may pervert the human justice system, but they can never escape the justice of God. Their lie about Islamization is from the pit of hell and shall haunt them even in their hereafter.” In a similar vein, the National Coordinator of NIFROP, Bishop Sunday Garuba in his remark stated that some former leaders in Nigeria need deliverance from their evil ways as manifest in the battles they have waged against the soul of Nigeria. “Not to be forgotten in our prayers are our former leaders, who need deliverance, on account of those among them that are leading other agents of the devil to trouble the land. They have not only set loose demonic influences like the blood-sucking Boko Haram and IMN terrorists to kill Nigerians daily, but they have also covenanted with the devil to set Nigerians against each other with lies like their claim that there is an agenda by one religion or ethnic group to dominate others. This is the sheer manifestation of the devil.” He stated. “It is these lies that they have crowned with the bigger lie called Islamization agenda, which has now been discovered to be aimed at inciting Nigerians to kill each other thinking that they are fighting for God’s name. They expected that Nigerians would cut each other’s throats as part of sectarian strife that would be triggered by the lie. However, we thank our God Almighty for sending the spirit of maturity into the hearts of Nigerians so that the expected damage did not occur.” He further stated. Bishop Sunday Garuba in eulogizing the gathering stated that why the 40 days’ deliverance prayers are backed with fasting is essentially to intercede on behalf of Nigeria for God to deliver the country from evil. “It is a time the faithful will be in supplication for God to touch the hearts of those that have decided that destruction is the only gift they can bequeath the country. It is an event that we will use to call down God’s fire to destroy all the problems that are militating against peace and development in Nigeria.” “Those who are led to join us here at the Unity Fountain are welcome to do so daily for the duration of the 40 days of prayer and fasting. Those in other cities and those abroad can unite their faith with ours from wherever they might be, and our prayer Answering-God will still receive our requests and supplications. Let us lift our voices and ask for the demons of splintering, and disunity will not succeed in Nigeria.”

A group known as the National Democratic Forum, NDF, has warned the 2019 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, against dramatizing a story published by Wall Street Journal on the alleged secret burial of slain army officers in the North East. It issued the warning to Atiku while insisting that the report was planted by some enemies of the country in the foreign media just to blackmail the Nigerian Army. The group advised Atiku to "find a productive job and stop going about parading himself as Nigeria’s parallel president just like the Presidency has warned him." Wall Street Journal had in an article entitled, “Nigeria Buries Soldiers at Night in Secret Cemetery” alleged that the military buried soldiers in unmarked graves in the North East. Against this backdrop, Atiku, had called for the setting up of a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the claims of the secret burial of soldiers in the North East. https://dailypost.ng/2019/08/01/nigerian-military-denies-secretly-burying-1000-soldiers-killed-boko-haram/ However, addressing newsmen, Secretary General, Bolaji Abdulakdir, described Atiku's comment as inciting over an unverified report. According to Abdulakdir, "The National Democratic Front (NDF) would have ignored this irresponsible piece of reporting from the Wall Street Journal, knowing fully well that in addition to being committed to reporting to destabilize the newspaper has an existing contract that preceded the 2019 General Elections to run propaganda for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Mr. Atiku Abubakar. But the report, dubiously captioned: “Secret Military Cemetery Conceals Toll of Islamist Insurgency in Nigeria” continued the tradition of demonizing everything about Nigeria. It is therefore pertinent to react to this attack against our fatherland. "An additional reason to question the intent of the report is the series of events that followed its release. Two of these events stood out: first is the rush with which Atiku Abubakar issued a personal statement that was almost as long as the report, the second is the coordinated promotion of the report on the social media handles of Atiku loyalists and those of social media influencers that had been on his payroll for some time now. "The indication this mix of events gives is that the Wall Street Journal’s report was commissioned for the sole aim of being a trigger or platform on which a campaign of calumny against the Nigerian state and government. This is exactly what has happened. Atiku Abubakar and made his position known and his urchins took up the refrain, perfect proof that it was all a hatchet job. "NDF, however, wants to strongly advise Atiku to stop chasing shadows over the purported Wall Street Journal report dramatizing the killing of Nigerian soldiers while touting a well-known military cemetery as secret graves. It is common knowledge that Atiku’s lack of patriotism and the misrule of the government he and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo ran was responsible for the emergence of Boko Haram. "The additional years during which his party, the PDP was in charge of the country allowed the terrorists to grow stronger before the Military was empowered to confront them under President Buhari’s government. It is the height of irresponsibility for the same Atiku to now be desecrating the memory of troops that have paid the supreme price in his bid to score political points. "The PDP candidate will do well to recall his words and actions before and during the elections. He vowed that killings will not end but increase if he loses the election and that has been the case, especially with soldiers being killed by terrorists he hired to destabilized the country. He is yet to demobilize the terrorists and foreign mercenaries he hired to cause chaos ahead of the elections, which is the cause of the unnecessarily frequent skirmishes between troops and jihadists. "This alone makes it irresponsible for him to directly contribute to the loss of the lives of soldiers, pay a foreign newspaper to report an increased body count and allege secret graves while he rushes to condemn the government and emphasize. The feeling he expressed are several levels below shedding crocodile tears because some of the fallen heroes would have still been alive but for Atiku’s desperate inordinate ambition to return to power for the purpose of looting the treasury. He gave the contract to the terrorists that killed them in battle – the only consolation being that our gallant troops brought down 100 terrorists for every soldier that paid the supreme price. "We see his empathy is another attempt to engineer and incite troops to be disobedient to constituted authorities. This too can be proven with Atiku’s track record in the recent past when called on the troops and officers of the Nigerian Army to disregard lawful commands by the Commander-in- Chief because carrying out those orders prevented him from rigging the elections. "His comments, as with his other recent weighing-in on national matters, was further calculated to rubbish Nigeria’s standing in the international community. It takes a dire level of irresponsibility for someone that once aspired to lead a country to turn around to destroy the reputation of that same country. Such an individual does not deserve kind considerations from any citizen or institution in the country and we urge that he should be so treated. "It is our sincere hope that the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal concludes its work soon so that Atiku can stop exploiting his defeated candidacy as a prop for seeking relevance in a country that has roundly and resoundingly rejected him. Once the judicial challenge to the Presidential Election has been closed and disposed of, Atiku would have lost all claims to being the opposition leader, which would effectively make him liable for any incendiary comments, whether made by himself or on his behalf. "In the interim, we advise Atiku Abubakar to find productive a job and stop going about parading himself as Nigeria’s parallel president just like the Presidency has warned him. A presidential election loser is not a designation so Atiku must know that his newfound pastime is borderline impersonation and can never be an occupation in Nigeria or anywhere else in the world. To the extent that his objective of sponsoring the Wall Street Journal report has failed like the previous hatchet jobs the publication did for him, it is pertinent that he approaches them for a refund, especially now that he no longer has access to slush fund from the nation’s treasury. "NDF shall continue to closely monitor the situation to see the extent to which Atiku complies with decorum and desist from trying to destroy the country because of his desperation. Where he continues to imperil the country through his choices and actions, we shall announce corresponding measures, particularly bearing in mind that a competent Tribunal of the country has been duly notified that he is not a Nigerian, which explains his indifference to the fate of the country." Stand Up for Nigeria, a civil society group has fingered the Islamic Movement in Nigeria behind the planned protest across the country in August by Coalition for Revolution (CORE). The group said IMN was only using CORE to cause panic among Nigerians following its proscription by the Nigerian Government. Comrade Sunday Attah, National Secretary, while addressing newsmen on Monday, informed the law enforcement agencies that the planned protest was a ploy to evade the designation of the former as terrorist organization and to enable terrorists to continue gathering freely on the streets. His statement below. Gentlemen of the press, recent weeks had seen extremists and radical militants take over the streets of Abuja under the aegis of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), which was supposedly demanding the release of their leader, Ibrahim el-Zakyzaky. It must be noted that el-Zakyzaky is on trial for murder, treason and ancillary crimes before a Kaduna State High Court. The state does not have control of the police and other security agencies so it is logical that while the IMN leader has a case to answer with Kaduna state, he can only be kept in the custody of federal agencies, which is not the same as the Federal Government or the government of President Muhammadu Buhari holding him. The implication of this is that the violent protests held on the streets of Abuja, and later other Nigerian cities, have nothing to do with the detention of el-Zakyzaky. The protests rather have all the signatures of a terrorism enterprise that is intended to cow the Nigerian state and subjugate all citizens to the reign of IMN, which so happens to be a proxy for Iran. The measured responses from the Nigerian Police Force and other security organizations, even in the face of aggravated provocations by IMN members, are well documented. Its members often throw projectiles at policemen and in some instances used slingshots to inflict grievous injuries on those whose responsibility it was to prevent the arson that the IMN protestors are intent on committing and also prevent them from manhandling Nigerians. A side note of use is the reminder that IMN does not believe in the Nigerian state. For every ministry of government that exists it has a corresponding department, which confirms that it is running a parallel country to the one we all know. It also does not believe in the current political configuration of the country be it political parties or offices that result as a consequence of their activities. Effectively, IMN at its most moderate is an anarchist group that later branched into full fledge terrorism. We were therefore not surprised when the Federal Government, on the strength of a court order, proscribed IMN as a terrorist organization. Let us not forget that militants of IMN executed a Deputy Commissioner of Police on the streets of Abuja in the course of their violent protest on the same they executed a journalist and wasted the life of a dozen others in the course of expressing their so called rage. Before that they have attempted to overthrow the legislative arm of government, being the premier branch of government, when they stormed the National Assembly and laid siege to the place for several hours. That invasion resulted in deaths. As a matter of emphasis, the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Nkeonye Maha, in addition to proscribing IMN as a terrorists organization, further restrained “any person or group of persons” from participating in any form of activities involving or concerning the IMN “under any name or platform” in the country. Gentlemen of the press, we are therefore concerned that rather than desisting from “as acts of terrorism and illegality” as ordered by the court, IMN members have, in contravention of the court, regrouped under the name of the COALITION FOR REVOLUTION (CORE) in order for them to continue with their violent protests and continue killing Nigerians. CORE’s manifesto openly threatened violence by saying “We have the right to be in rage and to protest,” an agenda that not only tallies with IMN’s creed but is also consistent with the behavior of the terrorist organization in recent months. Further confirmation that CORE is nothing but a rebranded IMN can be found in the second of the five demands of the group: "For an effective and democratic end to insecurity and insurgency, combined with the immediate dismissal of the security chiefs and release of all political prisoners including the Shiite leader Ibrahim el-Zakzaky.” Recall that there have been reports that the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Mr Atiku Abubakar has been financing the IMN protests in addition to specifying what targets the group should attack. The other four points of CORE’s demand are consistent with Atiku’s propaganda. What we have learnt is that PDP/Atiku has transferred the existing mandate and funding from IMN to CORE in order for the violent street protests to continue with the assassination of policemen later escalating to include senior government officials. We are using this opportunity to draw the attention of law enforcement agencies to this mutation of IMN into CORE. It is a ploy to evade the designation of the former as terrorist organization and to enable terrorists to continue gathering freely on the streets. This poses a great danger to the country as they will again be able to resume killing security personnel before adding public office holders to their kill list. It is imperative that the coordinators of the planned protests beginning August 5, 2019 are identified before that date for the purpose of further investigating and establishing their links with IMN. Nigerians are advised to note that rather than fighting for their cause, CORE is an agent of subjugation that is representing the interest of Iran and a desperate opposition that is eager to reestablish corruption as a norm. All right thinking people must therefore shun the deceptive protests being called by CORE as they are nothing but a ruse to make people support IMN. Stand Up For Nigeria, a coalition of 22 Civil Society groups and youths groups is challenging CORE to prove that it is not a mutated IMN with the same mandate and funding source. We will soon expose more details of how the promoters of IMN are the very sponsors of IMN protests in Nigeria. We re-affirm our commitment, the commitment of Nigeria and Nigerians to the unity and indivisibility of the country. We solemnly pledge that Nigerians will defend the country from any uprising being instigated by disgruntled politicians, sectarian terrorists and commercial protesters in the country.

Former Senate President, Chief Ameh Ebute has accused ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo of pursuing a strange interest against the country with his constant attacks on government of President Muhammadu Buhari. He said this in a letter to President Buhari on the state of the nation. The letter was in apparent reaction to the recent open letter written by Obasanjo and addressed to President Buhari where the former lamented the state of the nation, while calling for urgent actions to tackle Nigeria’s challenges. https://dailypost.ng/2019/07/15/breaking-obasanjo-raises-alarm-another-open-letter-buhari-full-text/ However, Ebute in the letter addressed to Buhari entitled: “State Of The Nation; A Call To Action And Steadfastness;” An Open Letter, and obtained by our reporter on Sunday, claimed Obasanjo and his dozens of “veiled agents want to return Nigeria back to Egypt” hence his ceaseless attacks on the current government. The letter reads in full. "Sir, let me congratulate you on the constitution of your #Nextlevelcabinet, which process of confirmation of the Ministerial nominees is ongoing at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly (NASS). "I am overwhelmingly elated that you have shamed your antagonists and ardent critics by the quality of your nominees. They comprise competent and trusted technocrats, professionals and politicians who can assist you in propelling your laudable vision in the next four years, some of whom also served in your preceding cabinet, but have been retained ostensibly based on their tested and proven capacities of hard work. "May I seize this opportunity to condole with you, the Inspector General of Police, the NYSC, Channels Television and the families of a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Usman Umar; a serving corps member, a reporter attached to Channels Television, Mr. Precious Owolabi and all those allegedly killed by the violent protesters of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) otherwise known as the Shiites. May their souls rest in perfect peace. Amen! "My sympathies also go to you for Nigerians who suffered various degrees of injuries and incurred losses during the incensed and violent protests by the extremists Shiites sect members. It would have been worse but for the professionalism of the Police and other security agencies who paid the supreme price for the rest of us to be alive. We are immensely grateful. "Mr. President, I have no doubt that our dear nation has been unnecessary troubled and deliberately plunged into needless and avoidable crises. It has now dawned on me clearly that the same forces against public sanity, order and discipline which your administration has brought to bear on the polity and governance of Nigeria are more incensed now than ever as manifest in these evil plots to destabilize your administration and enthrone monumental chaos in the country. "And it is evident these detractors and evil men, are either pulling the strings directly or using hired agents to do everything possible within their powers to upstage you, destabilize your Presidency and the country. This is against the wishes of the overwhelming population of our people who actually came out in their large number to enthrone this administration despite the campaign of calumny and blackmail to disconnect you from your teeming supporters and followers in and outside the country. "Quite unfortunately, the latest anger against your administration and the spate of instigated killings, armed criminality and violent protests by some groups, are spurred by those who are obviously abusing the democratic liberty to lawful assembly, freedom of expression and rule of law with these renewed unrests. Their antics are already known to the security agencies and many Nigerians like my humble self who have had a long standing participation in the polity and by providence as an elder statesman. "It is extremely suicidal for Mr. President to forget or even underrate the capacity of his adversaries for instigative crises since those you defeated at the 2019 general elections are still around. I remain one person among many Nigerians who is not convinced the enemies have given up on their satanic mission to destroy the country in connivance with foreign interests hell-bent on the destruction of Nigeria. Our recent experience in the hands of these paid protesters is a pointer to this well informed fact. "I was perplexed that recently, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, an elder statesman who openly opposed your reelection ambition for no logical reasons and indeed, worked for your defeat by backing your strongest rival in the presidential poll again, wrote another open epistle to you. It is however not surprising to many of us who have had to tolerate his excesses as statesmen in various capacities. "democratic rights to freedom of choice, but surprisingly and expectedly, Obasanjo enviously regurgitated the same old, stale, puerile and, whitewashed tales about your Presidency and impressive leadership of the country. "While I do not intend that this letter serve as a direct response to Chief Obasanjo’s letter, it may serve as a tacit reply to his absurd, farcical, unidealistic, emotional, self-serving and lamentable expression of his emptiness on affairs of Nigeria in blind fury. This is because an attempt by any of us to re-write the history of the country will remain a disservice to the younger generation for a long time to come. "The issues raised by Obasanjo in the latest letter to you, in my understanding, only belittles his status and confirms his egoistic subservience to personal agenda, instead of the collective progress and development of Nigeria which we all sacrificed our comfort and pleasure to pursue. "Your Excellency Sir, without a doubt in my mind and having gone through series of commentaries and replies to Obasanjo from Nigerians who love, cherish and hold Nigeria dear to their hearts; and those who believe in the unity and indivisibility of our country, the dominant voices dismissed the contents of Obasanjo’s letter as irritating hogwash. "Therefore, Mr. President and leader of our nation, it may interest you to know that Obasanjo has been isolated, ostracized and indeed, stands alone like someone marooned on an Island, because majority of Nigerians have expressed in words and actions their unwillingness to toe his inglorious line, polluted thoughts and destructive antics. "It smacks of childishness for the same Obasanjo, who glowingly commended your government for its winning streaks in the battle against Boko Haram Insurgency and the anti-corruption campaign, in his first open letter to you in 2018, would turn around to recant his words today on same issues. It was the same Security Chiefs and troops who performed the marvelous feats he previously praised glowingly. "This sudden U-turn is not ordinary, and it gives me the strong suspicion that Obasanjo must have aligned himself with the internal and external forces clandestinely plotting the destruction of Nigeria, whilst he embarks on his usual manner of intermittently gauging public mood by pontificating his fake sanctimoniousness. "Obasanjo truly needs the prayers of all Nigerians to regain himself because he has veered too far off the track of wisdom and reason. It is our hope that despite all the Almighty God will find a place to forgive him his sins and all the wrongs he has done to Nigeria. "Mr. President Sir , it is not controvertible that anyone who does or have not seen your efforts in these past four years in the impactful reforms being carried out in the military in order to give to Nigeria a loyal and patriotic Armed Forces that will its best to the nation is bewitched by Obasanjo’s haunting “disease” which I prefer to classify mildly as senility. "Obasanjo and his dozens of veiled agents want to return Nigeria back to Egypt and thus, saddened that the Armed Forces are apolitical, and no more the politicized Military like his leadership gangsters reduced our Armed Forces and Security Chiefs in the immediate past. Such Nigerians are like “coupists” and must be watched closely before they derail the progressive transformation agenda of your administration. "Mr. President Sir, your defeat of Boko Haram insurgency and its taming to a very weak ragtag group that can only carryout ambushes and attacks on obscure soft targets is legendary. It remains the best thing your administration has done for Nigeria, ditto for the extinction of other armed insurrectional sects. "Please do not be deterred and remain more undaunted in your determination and obsession with building and nurturing a responsible military under your leadership as Commander-In-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces. And stop at nothing to ensure our military continue to receive adequate training and resources to imbue them with even greater capacities to address the renewed threats to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Nigeria. "It has enormous benefits to the nation and undoubtedly, one of the greatest things that has ever happened to restore the lost image of our country. Nigerians are now proud of a sanitized and corruption- free Armed Forces under your command and the likes of Obasanjo and his demented surrogates are free to yell on rooftops. But the rantings are inconsequential. "Mr. President, believe me or not, but Chief Obasanjo has vengefully and unapologetically spoken for the vested interests which are angling to destabilize the country. It is obvious because the masses revolted through the ballot and thwarted the success of his preferred candidate for the 2019 Presidency and the palpable, unjustified anger against your leadership. "And I feel it behooves on those of us on the side of millions of patriotic Nigerians to speak out because we still believe in a united nation under a Buhari Presidency. We are irrevocably committed to it and shall continue to nurture it for posterity. "Sir, may I further confide in you openly that you should not succumb to any attempt by the paid protesters whether of armed Shiites or any other group to blackmail your administration in order to have a leeway in their evil designs. This is the time for you to take decisive actions against traitors in any guise; remain firm and steadfast in all your undertakings for greater public good and in the best interest of the country. "The sustained killing of security agents, innocent Nigerians and destructions to public properties by members of the repulsive fanatical IMN sect must be brought to an end by your government by whatever means possible. I am happy you are also thinking along this direction with your warning in the aftermath of the latest incident that the Shiites are pushing you to the wall and they should not tempt you any further. The Nigerian people whom you swore to defend and protect are eagerly yearning for a decisive action that will bring these traitors and enemies of human freedom to book. "No Nigerian with the genuine interest of our country at heart will dispute the fact that IMN is a terrorists sect, which has mushroomed in Nigeria under the leadership of Sheik Ibraheem EL-Zakzaky without lawful registration for over 40 years, but operates illegally as a religious body, which publicly proclaims allegiance to the Republic of Iran and vows disobedience to Nigeria’s laws and constituted authority. "The IMN sect members beginning with their leader have dispensed themselves as both terrorists and aggressors that have been radicalized, militarized and funded by foreign elements and should neither have a place nor a chance to operate in our country with such impunity and lawlessness. Mr. Presidsnt Sir, the bulk is on your table to again, save Nigerians from their swords and the looming catastrophe as reflected in the actions of armed protesters in Nigeria. "Finally, I make haste to plead with Nigerians and the rest of the world particularly America’s President Donald Trump and British’s newest Prime Minister, Mr. Boris Johnson to stand with Nigeria against acts of destructive religious fanaticism, which have morphed into embryonic stages of terrorism as demonstrated by the Shiites in Nigeria. "I fear that this dangerous group is fast spreading tentacles around the world and I urge that all Nigerians must stand with Mr. President to get rid of the IMN violent extremism before it is too late. I am urging Nigerians to have uniformity of reason by chorusing with one voice, the monsters we have known of the IMN in Nigeria before they plunge Nigerian into another brand of explosive terrorism. They are terrorists and should have no place in our society. "Mr. President Sir, you must stand firm at this hour and never yield to the gang -up by those who want to take Nigeria back to Egypt. Nigerians are solidly behind."

Veteran gospel music minister, Panam Percy Paul, has revealed how his father disowned him for choosing to go into gospel music ministry for 19 years. Born Bakulipanam Percy Paul Mokungah, widely known by his stage name Panam Percy Paul, this Nigerian gospel singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose musical career spans 40 years. He was born to Major Paul Harley, an officer in the Nigerian Army, and composer Paulina Paul Mokungah in 1957. Most of his songs have been choreographed by children in many churches within and outside the country. Speaking on Friday during the 2019 Music Ministers Conference tagged ‘The Minstrel’ at The Glory Dome, Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Airport Road. Abuja, the iconic singer said he father was forced to accept him after he became a household name in the nation and beyond. Panama, 62, a native of Adamawa State recalled thus during the programme monitored by IDOMA VOICE: “My father looked at me and said I have gone mad, because I left everything only to sing. “My father said to me, don’t come back home no more. My father even struck out my name from his will and said to me ‘you are no longer my son.’ It was a time of pain, a time of grief and a time of gloom. But ladies and gentlemen, that is not the end of my story. “A few years later; and one day, the elders of my people sat down in a meeting in the city of Yola, Adamawa State Nigeria. And one elder stood up and said, my name is Retired General so so and so, another elder stood up and intoeduced himself that his name was Retired Air Vice Marshal so so and so. “But when it got to the turn of my father, he stood up and said, ‘how do I introduce myself to you? “And he asked the elders, how many of you know the man called Dr. Panam Percy Paul? And they all raised their hands. And my father for the first time in 19 years proudly said, ‘he is my son.’ Source...http://www.idomavoice.com/2019/07/photos-from-2019-music-ministers-conference-at-dunamis-glory-dome.html

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has been warned against their constant anti-Nigerian propaganda, capable of heating up the polity in the country. The Nat Democratic Front, which handed down this warning on Friday, described HURIWA and its leader, Emmanuel Onwubiko, as commissioned agents to escalate anti-Nigerian state propaganda. NDF was reacting to a recent statement by HURIWA where it accused the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, as working against the Nigerian state. Bolaji Abdulkadir, NDF National Secretary, while addressing a press conference on the constant media propaganda by HURIWA on Thursday in Abuja, said Onwubiko and his group are agents of destabilization that are in pursuit of ethnic agenda in Nigeria. It, therefore, asked Onwubiko to refund their paymaster as their task of tarnishing the images of Buratai and Gbajabiamila has failed woefully. Full text of his speech below. The National Democratic Front (NDF) has become aware of escalation of anti-state propaganda by one Emmanuel Onwubiko and his blackmail group, the so called Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA). This is not his first time but we are seeing a dangerous pattern that requires that the lies he is putting in the public space are expeditiously corrected before people think that is the correct state of affairs. The latest of this failed attempt at using negative propaganda against the Nigerian state involved Onwubiko disparaging the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila. He futilely strived to create the impression that these reputable men are the enemy when the real enemy of the people is the person attempting to shove falsehood down their throats. This refined urchin accused General Buratai of sophistry because he dared to expose how politics and politicians are the real factors driving the widespread security breaches in the country. Interestingly, Onwubiko alluded to how banditry, kidnapping and terrorism are happening across the country without acknowledging that the people he works for are the ones that unleashed these evil as punishment on Nigerians for not voting to reintroduce corruption during the recent general elections. It is common knowledge in Nigeria that because of monetary and ethnic considerations, Onwubiko is a die hard supporter and canvasser for Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The HURIWA businessman is aware that his client famously declared that killings and violence will intensify when President Muhammadu Buhari gets re-elected. The predicted violence has not taken hold and one of its promoters is blaming the Chief of Army Staff for situating the problem where it is. At the right time, Onwubiko will have to answer for his contributions to the carnage that has been witnessed in some parts of the country. When that time comes he will be able to tell Nigerians how much he collected to launch the evil propaganda against the government and the persons that paid that money. Meanwhile, we realise that Onwubiko’s main interest is not General Buratai, whom he merely used to gain relevance and attract attention to his wares as a blackmailer. His intended target is the Speaker, Rt. Hon Gbajabiamila, whom he believes would be amenable to blackmail, only that his projection was wrong. Not only is the strategy wrong, the premises upon which he attempted to tarnish the image of the Speaker were faulty to the point where one have to begin to review his mental state. He has a problem with the peace mission embarked upon by Rt. Hon. Gbajabiamila in Zamfara state, which he concluded was high treason. While this appear logical on the surface, an actual understanding of it will show a kind of deviousness that merits being confined to supervised care. He rather wants the bandits to be tried and no talks held with them even if that will bring solutions. We are at a loss if this is the same HURIWA/Onwubiko that chastised the government for not negotiating with extremists of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB), two groups that have been outlawed on account of their being militarised and being a terrorist group respectively. Two things stand out in this historic transaction of Onwubiko. He is first about the money and will sing to support any group that drops coin in his bowl, which was the basis on which the IMN bought his services to argue that government should dialogue with them. The second thing is that Onwubiko is an irredeemable ethnic bigot who thinks a terrorist IPoB should be pampered with negotiation and amnesty while bandits should be treated differently simply because they are from the north that he hates with all his being. The records are there and they speak to how the HURIWA leader has been playing two sides of the divide. It is therefore not in doubt that HURIWA and Onwubiko are agents of destabilization that are in pursuit of ethnic agenda. Since the organization and its leader are one and the same, we confidently say that Onwubiko has proven that he does not know the difference between politics and agitating for human rights. If he does he would not have disingenuously attempted to retire the political contract he got to malign Buratai and Gbajabiamila under the sub-head of human rights. It stuck out like a sore thumb for what it is. A cheap propaganda that was badly packaged and delivered. We know Onwubiko as a confused bigot that can sell his family to the highest bidder or if the money arrives at a certain time in the right amount. His brand of activism is purely monetized at the very least it must appeal to his ethnic jingoism, for which he must be paid anyway. Our charge to Onwubiko with his HURIWA is simple. He should go back and refund whatever he has been paid to carry out his latest assignment because he has not only failed those who sent him the errand but has also failed himself for not being able to come up with something more creative than the watery non-issues he tried to raise against the two leaders. He must also learn to not try gaining political capital out of something that Nigerians are trying to get rid of. His attempt to leverage on the terrorist attacks and kidnappings for making money is reprehensible and he is advised to desist from such irresponsible acts.

The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr Paul Enenche, has urged Nigerians not to give up on their country. Enenche urged Nigerians to trust God for a better Nigeria. He said this during a Sermon at a “Day of Outreach and Prayers” for media practitioners and journalists at the church headquarter in Abuja, on Sunday. The cleric, who declared that there was hope for a better Nigeria, cautioned against negatives perceptions thatNigeria could never work again, NANreports. He said: “A lot of people are disappointed at the turn of things in the country, but we must all believe that hope is not lost. We must be optimistic and trust God for a better Nigeria. “It is dangerous to give up on Nigeria. We cannot risk that because this is the only country we have. We must keep hope alive.” The cleric encouraged Nigerians to remain steadfast, declaring that “God, who brought us from yesterday into our today, will take us from our today into a tomorrow of answered prayers”. “If not for God and prayers, there will have been no Nigeria today; there are nations that did not face half of what Nigeria has faced and are today in serious turmoil. “We must be grateful to God at all times for life and peace because there is always something to be grateful to God for,” he said. Enenche said that Nigerians must live their lives with eternity in view since death was inevitable. “Those who live by the sword shall die by the sword; a day of judgment shall definitely come. It doesn’t matter what you have, one day your heart will stop beating, your breath will stop, and blood will stop flowing from your veins. “When you are gone, nothing will follow you to your grave or to the life after; you will appear before your maker and what you killed to get will not be useful to you. “After death comes judgment; everyone will face a Judge, God, an authority that cannot be influenced. A Judge that cannot be compromised and cannot be bribed. That day is coming for everyone because there is life after life,” he said. He advised the media to “work closely with God” by driving Nigeria in the direction of God. “Journalists must write and speak the truth at all times. It is the only way to make Nigeria a great nation,” he said. He urged media practitioners to strive to influence the society positively and work toward effecting positive change on the nation. Enenche also cautioned journalists against spreading fake news and hate speech, saying that any wrong word uttered by man would be accounted for, on the last day. http://www.idomavoice.com/2019/07/dont-give-up-on-nigeria-dr-paul-enenche-says-as-he-prays-for-journalists-at-dunamis-glory-dome-photos.html

The National Democratic Forum, NDF, has in strong terms condemned the invasion of the National Assembly by members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, otherwise known as Shiites, on Tuesday. NDF described the attack on security agencies as an attempt to overthrow an arm of government. DAILY POST recalls that some protesting Shiites members agitating against the continuous incarceration of their leader, Sheik El-Zakyazky on Tuesday clashed with the security agencies, resulting in the death of some persons and burning of vehicles. The protesters, who were in large numbers, were heading towards the National Assembly at about 1.15pm but were intercepted by the military personnel already waiting at the gate. Reacting to the development, NDF wondered why the authorities have continued to threat the issue of the IMN with kids’ gloves. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, shortly after the bloody clash, Dr Abdulakdir Bolaji, Secretary General of NDF, called on the authorities to immediately expel all known IMN members from Abuja. The group also demanded that all those arrested in connection with the attack on National Assembly must be arraigned for treason and attempt to overthrow the government. The statement reads in full: Tuesday July 9, 2019 was the day members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) terrorised the very symbol of our democracy by launching coordinated attacks on the National Assembly. At the end of the attacks, the IMN members had snatched weapons from the security personnel on duty with which they shot two policemen and an officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). At least three cars were destroyed while a security post was also vandalized. We are in the process of verifying if anyone died in the attack as reported by some media organizations. For the duration of the attacks, Nigerians in the National Assembly Complex were terrorised on a scale comparable to last year’s terror attack on the Inter-Continental Hotel in Kabul, Afghanistan; the attacks carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba, an Islamic terrorist organisation based in Pakistan on Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Mumbai –India in 2018; and the terror attack of two months ago on Pearl Continental Hotel, Gwadar – Pakistan. The attacks on the National Assembly bear a frightening similarity to these other coordinated terror attacks because of the sheer helplessness that the occupants of these buildings experience for the duration of the barbarity. Even at height of their madness, Boko Haram never sent their terrorists to attack the National Assembly because they know the implication of such. They are aware that attacking the National Assembly is to add the crime of treason to whatever other criminality they may already be guilty of. The rap sheet for IMN is therefore growing longer with illegal arms possession, operating as an outlawed group, acquiring military training in violation of the constitution, murder, attempted murder and now treason with attempt to overthrow Nigeria’s democracy. Permit us to mention that we know the Nigerian state is not helpless as some people will think. Without prejudice to whatever investigations will unveil, we believe that the snatching of the weapons from the security operatives was possible because of the directive that security agencies should exercise restraint in the face of IMN extremists. This approach to dealing with the threat posed by the outlawed group has proven to be a wrong call, one that must be immediately jettisoned by the state. The National Assembly is the highest symbol of Nigeria’s democracy. Whilst IMN was once seen as the problem of Zaria, Kaduna State and Abuja, the Federal Capital territory, by attacking the National Assembly, they have made themselves the problem of all Nigerians because each and every one of us has a representative in the national parliament. The attack is therefore an attack on every state of Nigeria, on every citizen and on everything we stand for as a nation. The action of the IMN is therefore a visitation of terror on the Nigerian state. It is an attack targeted at overthrowing the government by destroying the strongest institution in our democracy. We will like to point out that we had joined other Nigerians in the past to express reservations about the presence of IMN extremists in the nation’s capital. They hide under the pretext that they are demanding for the release of their leader, Mr Ibraheem ElZakyzaky, who is standing trial before a competent court. Unfortunately, possibly because of the fear of international backlash, the government allowed these extremists to continue to infiltrate the nation’s capital without evicting them. The concerns we had expressed about the group in the past were because of their violent activities and attacks against state institutions and unwarranted clashes with security operatives. We must not lose sight of the fact that in their bid to acquire more weapons, the IMN fighters attempted to hijack a military convoy that was conveying weapons along the Zuba-Kaduna Expressway, a development that they used to bring the City under siege. The situation is dire to the point where even residents of Abuja had expressed concerns about the activities of this outlawed group owing to the threat they pose to other Nigerians. This threat is in addition to their menacing protests that they use to deny other people unhindered use of the roads and causing traffic congestion. Our demand to the Federal Government, in the light of Tuesday’s desecration, is unequivocal. A strong and clear message must be sent to the Islamic Movement in Nigeria in a way that it reverberates even with their sponsor, the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has recently been issuing propaganda to support these terrorists. The message must make it known that no theocratic entity will be allowed to overthrow Nigeria’s democracy, directly or through proxies like IMN. We, therefore, demand that the Federal Government immediately expel all known IMN members from Abuja while law enforcement agencies are mandated to dismantle all known cells of the group, in the nation’s capital and across the country. A further demand is that all those arrested in the attack on National Assembly must be arraigned for treason and attempt to overthrow the government. In this case, the government must not cave in to the blackmail of pro-IMN countries and organizations that will wrongly accuse it of rights abuse. The government must also rise up to the occasion and formally designate IMN as a terrorist group in line with existing anti-terrorism legislation. Had the Federal Government towed the line of the Kaduna state government that outlawed this terrorist group perhaps the country would have been saved from the harrowing experience of having the parliament come under attack. It is our earnest hope that the government will not allow things to degenerate to the point where Nigerians are compelled to resort to self-help against IMN extremists as the situation is fast approaching the one of “kill or be killed”. Nigerians will not watch docilely while terrorists overrun their capital and attack their representatives. We expect to see actions on the part of the government in the days ahead as a way of reassuring us that terrorists will not be allowed to truncate our democracy. The Coalition of Civil Society on Conflict Resolution and Human Rights in Nigeria has rubbished the recent report by the United Nations about corruption, describing it as a written script to favour Islamic terrorists and some looters. The Human Rights Committee of the United Nations (UN) had in a recent report accused the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari of not doing enough to stem what it termed high level of corruption, killings and human rights violations among others by various agencies of government. The UN had in the report queried the Federal delegation led by the Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations Office at Geneva, Amb. Audu Ayinla Kadiri, on the killings of members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) popularly, acknowledged and known as Shiites. However, the Coalition of Civil Society on Conflict Resolution and Human Rights said upon receipt of the report of the Human Rights Committee of the United Nations states that the conclusion arrived by the committee was not at best a reflection of the issues on the ground as it concerns high level of corruption, killings, and human rights violations. The coalition in the report jointly signed by Chijioke Ude Esq, Secretary-General and Kolawole Oso Head, Civil Military Affairs, said the UN in its report failed to touch on the activities of foreign NGO’s operating in North East Nigeria. It asserted that the United Nations Committee on Human Rights failed to act in the best interest of women and children who have been at the mercy of Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist in northeast Nigeria and other sundry issues on national interest. The report below. The report was released after its review of the implementation of the provisions of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights in Nigeria. THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE UN REPORT: The UN queried the Federal delegation led by the Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations Office at Geneva, Amb. Audu Ayinla Kadiri, on the killings of members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) popularly, acknowledged and known as Shiites. On liberty and security of persons, the committee sought clarifications on arrests carried out in the absence of a warrant and the related regulations and safeguards. Lengthy pre-trial detentions remained a problem, and information on this matter was needed. THE POSITION OF THE COALITION OF CIVIL SOCIETY ON CONFLICT RESOLUTION AND HUMAN RIGHTS IN NIGERIA: The Coalition of Civil Society on Conflict Resolution and Human Rights upon receipt of the report of the Human Rights Committee of the United Nations states that the conclusion arrived by the committee is not at best a reflection of the issues on the ground as it concerns high level of corruption, killings, and human rights violations. As a Coalition of Civil Society Organisations on conflict resolution and human rights in Nigeria, it is sufficing to state that there has been proper documentation of issues as they relate to the execution of the war against terrorism and other militant groups in Nigeria since 2015. In the areas highlighted in the United Nations report, the Coalition of Civil Society Organisations on Conflict Resolution and Human Rights had before now commissioned a total of four types of research under the various sub-themes in a bid to stay abreast of the happenings and to be able to hold government accountable at all times. The sub-themes are: • Human Rights Violations • Extra-Judicial Killings • Corruption • Activities of Non-Governmental Organisations operating in North East Nigeria • The Non-Commitment of the United Nations Authorities towards protecting women and children in a conflict zone. HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS: Since 2015, a lot has been done by the Nigerian authorities to improve its human rights records, especially with the war against terrorism and other militant groups in the country such as the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, the Indigenous People of Biafra and the Niger Delta Avengers. It is, therefore, sufficing to state that the various researches commissioned by the Coalition of Civil Society on Conflict Resolution and Human Rights indicate that the human rights ranking of Nigeria has improved tremendously since 2015. However, this position differs from the report of the United Nations Human Rights Committee. The reason adduced to this difference is the fact that the United Nations Committee might have relied on information provided through second hands means as against commissioning research work on the field. This has been the bane of the myriads of the inaccurate news report on the war against terrorism in Nigeria against the Nigerian Army. On the part of the Nigerian Army, the Army hierarchy has also done quite substantial to improve its relationship with the civilian population. And one of such initiatives is the establishment of Human Rights Desk which was borne out of the increasing interest of the local and international human rights bodies on what the army was doing in the North East and other parts of the country. EXTRAJUDICIAL KILLINGS: The postulation that the Nigerian Authorities had attempted to cover up for extrajudicial killings is at best an assumption which is based on hasty generalization and illogical conclusions. The issue of extrajudicial killings has taken centre stage in various forays in Nigeria. It remains one topic that has been given extensive research on to put matters in proper perspective. From the available information gathered, it suffices to state that the issue of extrajudicial killings has been over flogged with little or no tangible evidence to bolster the point. The narrative has been twisted to favour Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist whenever they come under a heavy bombardment of the Nigerian military, and also the propaganda campaign of IPOB and IMN seems to have blown issues out of proportion. But ironically same is not given prominence whenever Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist kill women and children, abduct young girls from their dormitories and slaughter young boys in their prime. This is also same when IPOB or IMN members’ attacks unarmed civilians, disrupt public peace and cause untold hardship on the people. CORRUPTION: It is a fact that since the advent of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, the issue of corruption has been adequately addressed. The UN committee did highlight corruption as one of the banes of the present administration. But in truth, it is not a reflection of the issues on the ground, which again can be excused given the fact that rumour merchants are ever willing to sell their commodity to unsuspecting members of the public at all cost. For a fact, the Coalition of Civil Society on Conflict Resolution and Human Rights have been privy to documents that relate to expenditures in critical sectors such as security. And it is this strength that it can be said that the level of accountability and transparency in the procurement and budgeting process is commendable. A good example was when the Nigerian Army made public its expenditure on the war in North East from 2015 to date upon a request by a civil society organization (SERAP). ACTIVITIES OF NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANISATIONS OPERATING IN NORTH EAST NIGERIA: The United Nations Committee on Human Rights for inexplicable reasons failed to touch on the activities of foreign NGO’s operating in North East Nigeria. This is mainly on the heels that there have been several reports on how international NGO’s are exploiting the war situation in North East Nigeria and undermining counterterrorism efforts of the Nigerian authorities. The Coalition of Civil Society on Conflict Resolution and Human Rights has within its disposal sufficient materials that indicates how foreign NGOs have indeed constituted a threat to the operational efforts of the Nigerian military in the ongoing war against terrorism in North East Nigeria. The activities of foreign NGOs in North East Nigeria can be best described as counter-productive and serving the interest of a few who are hell-bent on seeing to the disintegration of Nigeria. These NGOs exploit the plight of women and children for monetary gains. They mostly depict a picture of thorough despair makes believe recording orchestrated by them all in an attempt to continue to justify their relevance in the theatre of operations for continuous funding from their sponsors. THE NON-COMMITMENT OF THE UNITED NATIONS AUTHORITIES TOWARDS PROTECTING WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN A CONFLICT ZONE: The plight of women and children in the theatre of operations in North East Nigeria has received extensive attention especially with the new strategy of Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist using women and children as sex slaves, suicide bombers and also a human shield to perpetuate violence. The United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) whose operations in Nigeria has been dogged with a lackadaisical approach has been reluctant and in most instances unperturbed by the actions of Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists towards women and children. It is instructive to state that the bulk of the suicide bombings are carried out by young boys and girls that have been either brained washed or threatened with death by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists. This anomaly has been reported by a substantial number of civil society organizations, and yet the United Nations have not risen to the occasion to enact measures that would see to the protection of women and children from the hands of Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists. The position of the UN on this critical issue is suspect and an indication that it is either shying away from its responsibilities or it is in cahoots with Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist. That the United Nations Human Rights Committee didn’t highlight the plight of women and children is also a worrisome aspect that should not be swept under the rug. It sufficiently indicates that there are political undertones to its recently released report, hence a need for members of the unsuspecting public to tread with caution. CONCLUSION: The Coalition of Civil Society on Conflict Resolution and Human Rights in Nigeria having extensively researched on the various issues canvased by the United Nations Committee on Human Rights states that the United Nations are indeed the guilty party having for inexcusable reasons defaulted in his core mandate to Nigeria been a member state of the United Nations. The critical aspect women and children were highly neglected by the United Nations Committee on Human Rights in the compilation of its report. It also for inexplicable reasons didn’t touch on the threat posed by ISWAP fighters along the fringes of the Lake Chad basin region that is capable of putting Sub Saharan Africa at risk. The United Nations Committee on Human Rights acted in haste and without recourses to the peculiarities of the war and the commitment of the Nigerian Authorities in the areas above. The Coalition of Civil Society on Conflict Resolution and Human Rights affirms that the Nigerian Authorities since 2015 have exhibited a commitment to upholding the human rights of its citizens regardless of religion, ethnicity, or sex. Though contrary to the position of the United Nations Committee on Human rights, it is sufficing to state that all the information provided herein are first hand derived from years of research work that engaged directly with the relevant actors in offices and on the field. As against relying on rumours, and second-hand information.

The Coalition for Truth and Justice has condemned in the strongest terms the atrocities being perpetrated by the Islamic State of West African Province, ISWAP, otherwise known as Boko Haram against civilian population. The group described the sect’s existence as an evil that must be completely wiped out of Nigeria and the entire West Africa sub-region. This was part of the address delivered by Charles Timothy at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday. The coalition lamented that from all indications, ISWAP has been on a spree of violence intended to send terror into the heart of innocent citizens and have disproportionately targeted civilian. It therefore, called on the Nigerian Armed Forces to launch a punishing onslaught on the ISWAP terrorists since they have shown that they have no regard for the sanctity of life. The statement reads below. But we believe that if ISWAP terrorists have cause to believe that their days are numbered, which they are, they should beat their retreat or embrace their suicidal ends without bringing innocent civilians into their self-inflicted suffering. ISWAP’s attacks have all the hallmark of a perversion that is intended to make the people suffer. This is why the terrorists are attacking farmers, markets and other locations that will negatively affect food supply. This mode of operation hints at a direct attempt to depopulate the entire region where the ISIS spawn are operating. The Coalition for Truth and Justice condemns in the strongest terms these atrocities being perpetrated by ISWAP against civilian population. We call on all men of good will across the world to rise up in total condemnation of the terror group and its inhuman activities. Terrorism has no place in our society and all those hiding behind terror to either destabilize Nigeria and the dignity of its people are a shame to the world and stand condemned. This condemnation should be backed up by international action to flush the ISWAP terrorists out of the region, something that has become expedient as new evidence are now pointing to the fact that these terrorists are responsible for cases of daring kidnappings that they are using to raise funds for their evil activities. Our condemnation is particularly apt because Nigeria had no business with ISWAP, no connection to the conditions that birthed the Islamic State, ISIS or ISIL, which implies that our citizens do not owe ISIS anything. ISWAP will therefore do well to leave Nigeria alone and even leave the entire regions of Cameroon, Niger and Chad bordering Nigeria. To those showing sympathy for this group by way of tactical, media, social media, financial or political support, we want them to know that the situation is past the level where citizens will say they leave them to the judgement of God. We shall do our best to make sure that such persons are exposed and made to stand first before the law courts of this world and this country before keeping their appointments with God. There is nothing on earth that justifies any right thinking person supporting these murderous terrorists in any way. Nigerians should please expose any of such person they find in order for them to be exposed as part of the country’s problem. A clear message has to be sent that Nigerians will no longer stand for situations where some people act against the interest of other citizens to empower killers. The Coalition for Truth and Justice is calling on the Nigerian Armed Forces to launch a punishing onslaught on the ISWAP terrorists since they have shown that they have no regard for the sanctity of life. This time around, the military should not allow them any breathing space as they have sufficiently demonstrated that annihilation is the only thing they understand and appreciate. Since they have, by their own actions, indicated to prematurely meet their maker, government troops should help speed up their journey to the great beyond. We urge the civilian population in the affected area not to succumb to the campaign of fear and terror that ISWAP launched against some villages. They should continue to provide intelligence that will allow government troops to continue intercepting and thwarting whatever attacks the terrorists have planned.

Elder statesman and former President of the Senate, Ameh Ebute, has written the UK Members of Parliament on the need to support Nigeria in its fight against resurgent Islamic State of Iraq-backed Boko Haram terrorists renamed Islamic State's West Africa Province (ISWAP). Senator Ebute in the letter addressed to Rt.Hon. Mrs. Kemi Badenoch, MP, Member of Parliament (MP), Saffron Walden constituency, other Colleague of the House of Commons, noted that it will good enough for the House of Commons to add their voice of reminder to the issue and persuasion of relevant authorities to initiate appropriate actions for weaponry aid to Nigeria with modern technology devices. The letter reads below. I am delighted to have the privilege to write to UK Members of Parliament (MP) through you. Accept the fondest greetings from me and Nigerians. My motivation of writing the House of Commons through you is my conviction that our lamentations would receive a wider attention in the UK Parliament in recognition of your unique position as Vice Chairman, Conservative Party For Candidates. It is also, spurred by your crystal interest and likewise, the entire British Parliament to assist Nigeria overcome the besieging insecurity challenges in the country. I believe the facts on the disgusting security challenges assailing Nigeria are already known to all. But let me briefly recount that insurgencies and insurrections appear to have become intractable security problems in Nigeria. Over the last three years, the Nigerian Military, especially the Nigerian Army have been doing an impressive job is taming and routing out the perpetrators of insurgencies and insurrections out of our shores. The efforts have yielded substantial liberative fruits or else, Boko Haram terrorists would have forcefully taken control of more than half of the territories comprising Nigeria by today. I cannot say, the counter-terrorism strides of the Nigerian Military have met the targeted results. It means total victory against Boko Haram terrorists as Nigerians anticipate is being frustrated by the interest and sponsorship of insurgents in the country by deadly terror sects domiciled in the Middle East. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) led by Abū Bakr al-Baghdadi or Ibrahim Awad Ibrahim al-Badri al-Samariai, are militant organizations fueling terrorism in Nigeria and environs. And we are aware the United Nations (UN) and European Union (EU) among others have designated ISIL and affiliates topmost on their list of terrorists organizations. May you recall that the United States of America has specifically designated ISIL’s leader, Abū Bakr al-Baghdadi as a Global Terrorist. It confirms his outreach in this devilry act against humanity. Therefore, ISIL’s agenda of territorial expansion has made inquest into Nigeria and other surrounding countries of the West Africa region. And by March 2015, it officially confirmed its sponsorship of Boko Haram terrorists, which previously operated on local strength; which ISIL has now renamed, "Islamic State's West Africa Province" (ISWAP). However, in the last four years, Nigerian government and her Armed Forces have tirelessly fought the scourge of Boko Haram to a standstill. The Nigerian Military has been able to reclaim back her territories under the captivity of Boko Haram insurgents and freed thousands of abducted Nigerians held captive in various secret camps by the terrorists. Nevertheless, like I stressed earlier, the recorded victories of the Nigerian Government against Boko Haram so far have not reached the point of final extermination of these Islamic militant group. Rather, what we have seen in recent months is the resurgence of Boko Harm, with a resilience and sophistry of weaponry, which I believe has slowed down the pace of the final annihilation of the Boko Haram in Nigeria, despite the struggles of our competent Armies. I am strengthened by the recent parley in January 2019 anchored on the issue of Boko Haram in Nigeria, which you and your colleagues in the House of Commons interacted mutually. I learnt the discussion ended with a promise of the Parliament to lobby and or, prevail on appropriate authorities in the United Kingdom beginning with the UK House of Commons to support the Nigerian Government with military technology gadgets/weapons to fight this global threat to humanity. And this is now the time to take steps in this direction before ISWAP (Boko Haram) entrench its tentacles; completely annihilate and dislocate the civilian populations within the Lake Chad region including citizens of Cameroon, Niger, Chad and Nigerian Republics. I make this profound plea, believing that the strength, competence and dexterity displayed by the Nigerian Military in standing out to terrorists these years show determination to overwhelm terrorists if adequately supported. So, with the empowerment of Nigerian troops with modern technology weapons of warfare, I am sure, the regrouping of terrorists under the auspices of ISWAP will be crushed instantly. There is no doubt about the new threats posed to the sovereignty of Nigeria, with the resurgence of Boko Haram terrorists with a strange vigour roundly because of the backing by Iraqi’s ISIL and the UK has a role to play. And the UK’s role is largely to consent and act in consonance with its pledges by deploying the needed modern technology warfare equipment to Nigeria for the combat of terrorism. If this is done, it will no doubt help to reduce human casualties in the theatre of war and finally extinguish the ghost of terrorism in this region in a very short time. I appreciate previous interventions of the British Government to aide Nigeria battle the terrorism scourge in terms of training of troops and provision of logistics. But much more can still be done. So, we are appealing for a step-up of such interventions and gestures in the area of modern technology weapons aid to Nigeria. And it is the most germane time to embark on this action. You can recall that in August 2018 the British Prime Minister, Mrs. Theresa May paid a state visit to Nigeria and met with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja. The bulk of their discussion centered on combating terrorism. And Mrs. May promised to increase UK’s military support to Nigeria to assist the country protect its citizens and British workers resident in Nigeria from terrorists’ atrocities. The British PM’s pledge was later reiterated by UK’s Foreign Secretary, Mr. Jeremy Hunt who also visited Nigeria in early 2019. He was emphatic that discussions by the British Government are ongoing in the aspect of increasing aid and military support to combat the Boko Haram terrorists. This was after Mr. Hunt visited some crisis ridden places in the Northeast and concluded by a verdict that the crisis had the potential to trigger humanitarian problems if left unattended , in a manner that would dwarf the Yemen experience. We are a sovereign nation and our Military is very strong and capable. So, once they are supported, it will completely delete Boko Haram in Nigeria. We are not burdening anyone to move troops to Nigeria or asking anyone to come with boots on the ground because there are enough Nigerian troops on ground. I specially thank you for your audience. And I trust that the contents of this letter will be conveyed to other MPs in the House of Commons for their necessary action.
