The Coalition of Civil Society for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution has faulted the United Nations' (UN) persistent soft stance and lackadaisical attitude on the Islamic State of West African Province's (ISWAP) use of children as an instrument for war. According to the group, the intergovernmental organization tasked with maintaining international peace and security, especially as it concerns children hasn't done enough to protect these young ones in North East Nigeria from ISWAP terrorist seriously. The Coalition's submission trails United Nations Children Education Fund (UNICEF) latest report about the incident in Konduga, Borno State where the group appealed to “all those involved in this terrible conflict to protect children at all times and to keep them out of harm’s way.” In a statement signed by Dr Peter Hosea, Head of Administration, the group, consequently called on Secretary-General of the United Nations to put in proactive measure to halt further disaster instead of reeling out the obvious. “ The Coalition of Civil Society for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution wishes to states in unequivocal terms that the use of children as suicide bombers by members of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) is a crime against huma nity and breach of the fundamental human rights of these young and innocent children. “ This is cognisant of the fact that as minors by law, children do not have autonomy or the right to make decisions on their own for themselves in any known jurisdiction of the world. Instead, their adult caregivers, including parents, social workers, teachers, youth workers, and others, are vested with that authority, depending on the circumstances. “ This much the members of ISWAP have exploited by brainwashing and indoctrinating children to carry out suicide bombings, especially in North East Nigeria. “ The Coalition of Civil Society for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution also frowns at the lackadaisical attitude of the United Nations under the auspices of the United Nations Children Fund, (UNICEF) that works in over 190 countries and territories to save children's lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfil their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. “ UNICEF has indeed not risen to the occasion in North East Nigeria as regards the use of children as suicide bombers by ISWAP. Instead, they have formed the habit of issuing incoherent press statements to state the obvious while stalling on its core mandate of defending the rights of children. “ The Coalition of Civil Society for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution is disappointed with the feeble response by the United Nations Children Fund. “ The Coalition of Civil Society for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution consequently wishes to call on the Secretary-General of the United Nations and by extension the United Nations Security Council to put in measures that would see to the fact that children are protected from ISWAP terrorist. “ The United Nations Security Council must as a matter of urgency form a coalition for the protection of children in North East Nigeria and also to ensure that the rights of children are protected at all times. “ The Coalition of Civil Society for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution believes that if urgent measures are not put in place in North East Nigeria, ISWAP terrorist will continue to influence children and use them for suicide bombings. “ The Coalition of Civil Society for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution with this concludes that the United Nations has not taken the protection of children in North East Nigeria from ISWAP terrorist seriously. “ The United Nations Security Council must as a matter of urgency act swiftly in an attempt to nip in the bud the nefarious deeds of using children as instruments of war. “ The Coalition of Civil Society for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution wishes to state that the rights of children must be protected at all times and the United Nations Children Fund must rise to the challenge in the fulfilment of its core mandate.”

Residents of popular Alhaji Estate in Kurudu area of Abuja are currently living in fear following the invasion of dangerous reptiles in the estate. WWW.IDOMAVOICE.COM gathered that residents of the mountainous estate, which shares boundary with Army Post Service Housing Estate, kill snakes and other venomous reptiles from their residences on daily basis. A resident of the area hinted this reporter that this week alone, they have killed five snakes from the estate. “This morning, we killed two giant snakes again. This is no longer funny. We live in fear on daily basis. We could not allow our kids play outside again because of these reptiles. “The developers and management of the estate should come to our aide.” Another resident said he had concluded plan to move out of the estate as soon as her rent expires. “My family can’t be cohabiting with snakes and scorpions. We kill snakes and scorpions almost everyday. Just this morning, they killed two snakes around my neigbour’s apartment while a routine cleaning exercise was being carried out. This is no longer funny. I am moving out very soon,” he lamented. http://www.idomavoice.com/2019/06/residents-panic-as-snakes-take-over-popular-alhaji-estate-in-kurudu-abuja-photos.html

A civil society organization, Coalition for Truth and Justice has frowned at the recent travel advisory issued by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom on 21 states in Nigeria. DAILY POST reported that a statement on the UK government website said all travels to Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River States and 20km of the border with Niger in Zamfara State should be cancelled. https://dailypost.ng/2019/06/18/breaking-uk-alerts-terror-attacks-nigeria-warns-citizens-avoid-24-states/ The FCO warned against all but essential travel to: Bauchi, Zamfara, Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Katsina, Kogi and within 20km of the border with Niger in Sokoto and Kebbi States, non-riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers and Abia States. Reacting, the collation said the FCO advisory was misguided and an attempt to cause unnecessary apprehension among Nigerians and other foreign nationals in the country; that are going about their regular businesses. Charles Timothy Esq, National Coordinator of the collation in a statement on Wednesday, described the advisory as misguided and deliberate plot targeted at blackmailing the country This is even worrisome in the face of the fact that the United Kingdom has not shown any commitment towards Nigeria in the fight against terrorism over the years. The Coalition for Truth and Justice, therefore, condemns the actions of the FCO in its entirety and views such attempt as a deliberate ploy to cause unrest in the 21 states in Nigeria. The Coalition for Truth and Justice believes that the travel advisory is capable of scaring away investors from Nigeria, thereby causing a strain on socio-economic activities in the country. It is therefore consequent that the travel advisory is withdrawn and an unreserved apology is issued to the Nigerian authorities by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom. The Coalition for Truth and Justice also wishes to state in unequivocal terms that the advisory by the FCO is an expression of a larger agenda to destabilize Nigeria by some interest groups that are not happy with the substantial gains made in Nigeria since 2015 under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. The Coalition for Truth and Justice also challenges the United Kingdom to expressly state how it has assisted Nigeria in the fight against terrorism and other militant groups that threatened the sovereignty of the country. The United Kingdom has refused to assist Nigeria in keeping at bay the threat posed by the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) around the Lake Chad basin region that has seen innocent women and children suffer untold hardship. The United Kingdom also as an ally of Nigeria has not made any concrete effort towards assisting Nigeria in our quest to acquire arms and ammunition in the fight against terrorism over the years. The Coalition for Truth and Justice believes the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom erred substantially in issuing the travel advisory and as such the relevant authorities in the United Kingdom must begin the process of reprimanding those involved in the misdemeanor. The Coalition for Truth and Justice believes that the United Kingdom as an ally of Nigeria owes Nigeria a high debt of apology given the fact that the UK has not in times past demonstrated a commitment to assist the Nigerian troops fighting terrorism in North East Nigeria and other parts of the country. The United Kingdom has carried on in a manner that suggests that it is not interested in peace and sustainable development in Nigeria vis-à-vis the threats posed by terrorist groups through its actions and inactions. The Coalition for Truth and Justice believes that countries such as the United Kingdom should be at the vanguard of extending a helping hand to Nigeria in the fight against terrorism by availing the Nigerian troops with advanced technological skills and equipment. It is also expected that the United Kingdom should rally support for Nigeria from the international community in the fight against terrorism. The Coalition for Truth and Justice, therefore, states for the umpteenth time that the travel advisory was in poor taste and should be withdrawn, and instead, the United Kingdom should lend a helping hand to Nigeria in the fight against terrorism and other security challenges in the country. https://dailypost.ng/2019/06/20/uk-issued-serious-warning-security-report-nigeria/

The National Democratic Front, NDF, has accused opposition and enemies of democracy of being desperate to oust the current government led by President Muhammadu Buhari. The group warned them against heating up of the polity by those attracting unnecessary attention to the military with propaganda. NDF was reacting to the report in some quarters, which claimed President Buhari had fired all the security chiefs. The Secretary General of NDF, Dr. Bolaji Abdulkadir, in a statement forwarded to DAILY POST on Saturday, said the claim was a clear indication that the oppositions were not tired on their quest to topple the current government. It said the report of change of Service Chiefs was another coup plot by opposition elements to infiltrate the military for their sinister motive of destabilizing Nigeria’s democracy The statement added, "The National Democratic Front (NDF) is alarmed at the unnecessary attention being directed at the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in recent day because we believe that such development cannot be good for our democracy. "Our reference is specifically to the hoaxes making the rounds about the military service chiefs having been changed, sacked or about to be replaced. "Our decision to express concerns over this development was borne out of several factors. The first is that we observed that the hoax and stories are being published by outlets that have shown a track record of being sympathetic to the opposition or have fully aligned with the opposition in the past. "This, for us, is indication that the hoax is part of an elaborate plan that predated the General Elections, which calls for concern knowing the extent of acrimony the opposition had displayed at that time. "The second factor that gives us concern is that this same opposition had been named in a plot to pressure President Muhammadu Buhari to drop the service chiefs so that a new crop of military chiefs that are sympathetic to the opposition will be appointed following which they will overthrow the government and hold a shabby transition to hand over power to the opposition. "There is no proof that the opposition has renounced this plot, which means the concocted stories about the Service Chiefs is a pointer to how the plot is being modified in the aftermath of the elections. "Already, we are already witnessing series of unwarranted protests that were previously revealed as the excuse that rouge military personnel that have been recruited would use to attempt unseating the government. "We are equally concerned that even if the opposition has no design to overthrow the government, the twentieth anniversary of our transition from military dictatorship to civil rule is not the best time to focus unnecessary attention on the military. "Obsessing about the military chiefs and their tenure at a time when there are other pressing issues of national development amounts to saying that some people want the military back in the saddle of leadership or that they are nostalgic about losing the civil rights that many Nigerians died to secure for the country. Such mind-set goes beyond irresponsible and is squarely in the territory of criminality. "We are aware how these same people that are peddling rumours about the sack of military chiefs have been the ones worsening the country’s security breaches. "They have coined fancy names for the people they contracted to cause trouble for Nigeria so that the true extent of their complicity will remain hidden. "It is no surprise that some of them will always jump up to amplify whatever atrocities have been committed by their rebranded Boko Haram/ISAWP, killer herdsmen, unknown gunmen, killer herdsmen, kidnappers and any other malaise they have decided to afflict the country with. "It has now been revealed that the contacts of these political jobbers in the military have been actively sabotaging ongoing efforts to neutralize the security breaches by leaking information to their political patrons, who in turn pass the information to their hired killers operating under the aforementioned names. "The serial failure of these killer groups to spiral Nigeria into crisis has now made these detractors to turn their attention to the military in the hope of undermining it for that is precisely what will happen if they are able to cast the military in the mould of a political component. "This strategy is uncharitable given that our military is undergoing reorganization and professionalization under President Buhari. "It must also be stated that issues of the military leadership, being a matter of national security, should not be reduced to a matter for beer parlour talks, which appears to be the preferred platform for certain politicians to discuss national issues. "The dynamics around those that have been doing much to secure the country from growing existential threats cannot be degraded to being placed on the same pedestal as those for contemplating political manoeuvrings and permutations. "We therefore see these conjectures and hoaxes being offloaded on Nigerians as an attempt to politicise the military, which we had condemned in the past and will continue to condemn because we know that it runs contrary to the wellbeing of the country." NDF therefore warns those behind the fake news about change in military leadership to desist from spreading falsehood irrespective of what motivates or incentivize them. It added, "The line between what they are doing and executing a coup against the government of the day is very thin. They cross that line and the consequences provided in the law kick in and at that stage being in the opposition, activist or NGO community will not guarantee immunity from tasting the full flavour of the law. "Our warning extends to the agents of these elements in the military services. The reports that some of the military personnel have been contacted to behave in certain ways to compromise the government and the entire country is well known. "Anyone caught collaborating with those that want to destroy Nigeria can be rest assured that Nigerians will rally for them to get the stiffest of the punishments prescribed for coup plotters. "We cannot be striving to make our country better while others sabotage the rest of us for pecuniary gains, even when they work in the military services." NDF unequivocally warned the elements behind the latest hoax to keep away from the military and security chiefs as they have made it abundantly clear that the military will remain apolitical. The statement concludes, "We do not want anything that will degrade Nigeria’s democracy or security, which unfortunately now appears to be the life goal of the opposition."

The Coalition for Good Governance and Change Initiative, a civil society organization, on Monday staged a ‘thank you’ rally in appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for reappointing Godwin Emefiele as the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor for another term. The group led by Coalition for Good Governance and Change Initiative and the crowd in their thousands in an open letter addressed to the president, commended him for defeating what it tagged ‘ethnic and religious bigotry’ with Emefiele’s reappointment. Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi, National Coordinator/Convener in the letter noted that security and the economy were too sensitive to consider ethnic or religious coloration and Mr. President has proven that these two sectors were very dear to his heart, hence, his reappointment of Emefiele. The group, therefore, called on other Nigerians to rally round the president as he strives to boost the nation’s economy and as well make Nigeria a terror-free nation. The letter reads in full. Your Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCON, President & Commander-In-Chief of The Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Aso Rock Villa, Abuja. Your Excellency Sir, “Mr. President, Sir, You Must Stand-Up For Nigeria Now Than Ever, We Plead Of You!” 1. Sir, leaders and millions of members in the “Coalition for Change and Good Governance Initiative “ group wishes to congratulate you in advance for your repeat and historic inauguration on May 29th 2019 for a second term in office as Nigeria’s democratic leader. 2. We look forward to this eventful ceremony with unsurpassed enthusiasm; which is greater than what Nigerians communally felt, when you performed the twine ceremonies on May 29, 2015 to uphold the sanctity, laws, and democratic ethos of Nigeria, our nation of inestimable value on the African continent. 3. Please, permit us to briefly hint you that what today has become before you, as an assemblage of millions of pro-Nigerians under the SUN group are your beloved citizens who separately and in individual capacities spanning various states/regions and communities in the country worked uncompromisingly for your emergence as President of Nigeria in 2015. 4. We quietly followed you on campaign trails as you traversed the land in campaigns and listened to your soul-touching messages about the predicament of Nigeria. We were rivetted to your honest messages on the plight of the poorest of Nigerians and your agenda of freeing us from the manacles of entrenched relapse of patriotic values orchestrated by the ruling political elites and hijackers of our common destiny. 5. It was very clear to us, as evidenced in the personal fiefdoms these previous leadership vultures erected in Nigeria and abroad for the pleasure of their personal families. We endured it; but nothing can be so repulsive, then this manner of oppression! 6. Sir, without sounding modest, you impressed us; we believed your messages and they sank in us acutely. And even after your victory at the presidential polls in 2015, we individually monitored your government to know if you are a leader we can continue to trust. 7. Sir, as you mounted the saddle of leadership, our members intensely searched for more faults in your administration for three years, but found none. We set assessment yardsticks for your government comparatively with previous administrations in the country, hoping that you would derail, and we shall instantaneously withdraw support. But pleasantly, you stuck to your convictions, vision and mission as leader of Nigeria. We are most impressed and proud of you. 8. The same spirit of solidarity with you compelled members of CGGCI to also faithfully support the cause of your reelection in 2019. We did it because we knew, with you on the saddle, our country stands the brightest of chances to feel the impact of lasting and full recovery from its doldrums. 9. And God heard our fervent prayers for your retention as our democratic leader in 2019 to consolidate on your uncommon impacts on the economy, security and anti-corruption. And we erupted in wild jubilations when the electoral umpire body announced your resounding victory, which resonated all over Nigeria, from a stiffly contested presidential elections, with about 72 candidates and with merged political parties or ganged-up against your candidature. 10. And in your 2019 post-victory era, we are also not unmindful of the connivance to destabilize or distract you from performing the functions of your office. They have sponsored protestive groups or hirelings against your administration in Abuja and elsewhere in Nigeria. 11. So, after diligent deliberations, those of us who believe in your personal ideologies and leadership style, thought it wise to converge under an umbrella body, now with the acronym CGGCI to openly appreciate and to further inspire you on the leadership plane of Nigeria despite the distractions. 12. Sir, CGGCI is therefore a coalition of pro- Nigerian Patriots that believe in your capacity to provide the kind of leadership that Nigerians have always yearned at this point of our beleaguered history. We need not remind again, but for emphasis, Nigerians craved for a leadership stripped of religious, ethnic or regional bigotry, which is imaged and epitomized by you. A leadership which place places national interest foremost. 13. The confidence of CGGCI members in your leadership has not diminished; but rather, it has intensified with the decisions you have taken even before the formal commencement of your second mandate in office. 14. Mr. President sir, like you pledged in your 2019 victory acceptance speech, we can confirm without balking that truly you meant serious business when you again re-echoed that concentration in your second term would be on stampeding the economy into full growth after recession, security and intensifying the anti-corruption crusade. They are the pillars of any nation and once, decayed such a country is doomed and we identify with you absolutely. 15. Thus, your reappointment of the exiting Governor of the central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele, the henchman of Nigeria’s recovery from economic recession for another term of five years, confirms to millions of SUN members in Nigeria, your committed and unalloyed devotion to solving the problems of our dear country. We are totally confident that sustaining the economic recovery of the country is on course. We are very thankful to your leadership ingenuity. 16. Sir, please permit us to remind Nigerians that you inherited Mr. Emefiele as CBN boss from your predecessor who appointed him in 2014. Though, a statutory appointment, you could have used the powers of your Presidency to sack him, as prematurely done to Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, now a traditional ruler in Kano. 17. But you never abused such powers and when the time came for Emefiele to exit office naturally, as stipulated by law, as head of Nigeria’s apex bank, you reappointed him again because of your passion for performance. 18. Nigerians genuinely committed to the progress of this nation can concede to you that it’s not your style and kind of politics. You neither patronize sentiments whether ethno-religious or partisan. It uniquely stands you out as an outstanding leader. You focus on merit and competence from any Nigerian, but hates indolence in public office or corruption. We can confirm it. 19. We hail you as the face of Nigeria’s most de-tribalized and unsentimental leader and Pan-African the continent has ever produced. The eulogies in your glorification are all over, both in Nigeria and abroad, even from renowned foreign leaders. 20. And with your retention of Emefiele, we are confident that your decision to retain only patriots in the coming days ahead will receive a boost from all Nigerians particularly those that have achieved great milestones on the economy of Nigeria. Nigerians are indeed very proud of your fearless posture that has risen above ethno-religious sentiments in the country. 21. Please sir, help us extend our profound greetings to our Security Chiefs and all your lieutnants that have made the milestones possible. There is no doubt on our minds that your team is working day and night to keep us safe. It is our solemn pledge to support the administration and the security team to deliver more on your promises and Blueprint. May you also convey our message of Nigerians unshakeable solidarity with them and our troops. Under your Presidency, we shall finally conquer Boko Haram unfailingly. 22. Sir, we are excited that you have taken total control of the economy and security of Nigeria, which are the key pillars of progression of any nation. Before now, these vital sectors were in the hands of economic plunderers/saboteurs and armed terrorists before your Presidency. But you have rescued us from the fangs of these wearying national malaises. 23. So, we have crafted this public letter to celebrate you Mr. President for your thoughtfulness and impeccable wisdom in addressing these national issues. And may we remind that your decision on the caliber of appointments in the security sector too is splendid. Particularly, the Security Chiefs have recorded the victories we today experience against Boko Haram and the peace in our nation. 24. May we appeal that if Mr. President is satisfied with the performance of these Security Chiefs like millions of CGGCI members, let him not shirk in reappointing or retaining them in office to finally deliver to us a secured nation in peace, security and fraternity. 25. We are equally aware that many Nigerians have expressed concerns over the resurgence of some ugly security situations in some parts of the country. But CGGCI is confident that with Mr. President and his team of tested and trusted security experts on the saddle and like Boko Haram, it will soon become a thing of the past again as our President enters second term. They must be extinguished soon by the renewed focus of Service Chiefs. 26. Finally, the entire civil society leadership and millions of its members wish to commend Mr. President for these laudable accomplishments in just four years. We therefore pass a total vote of confidence on President Buhari and looking forward to a more eventful second term as he hits the ground “flying” expectedly like a tornado. 27. This time to take Nigeria to the Promised Land on the wings of an eagle uninterrupted. This is the ripe time for Mr. President to stand up for Nigeria because you have the greatest support in Nigerian masses as fronted by us and many others. 28. And lastly, Mr. President, we are assuring you that the Coalition for Good Governance and Change Initiative and our allies are always ready to ensure that every policy of your government is not only given full attention, but actively supported. 29. Your Excellency Sir, we appreciate your kind audience, in spite of your busy schedules. We are most honored and Thank you, most profoundly and warmly!

The Middle- Belt Conscience Guard (MBCG) has called on former Chief Army Staff, Lt. Gen. TY Danjuma, to stop the ongoing killing of Tiv farmers by armed militias from Jukun area of the state. The group claimed that Danjuma’s loud silence over attacks on Benue farmers in Jukum LGA of the state by his kinsmen was pregnant with meaning. MBCG in a statement signed by Its President, Prince Raymond Enero and Secretary-General, Dr. Paul Itodo, asked Gen. Danjuma to call his kinsmen to order. The statement also urged the ex-solider to immediately warn his tribesmen to desist from the incessant killings of Tiv people. The statement below: MBCG is saddened with the penchant or mentality to impulsively resort to violence and killing as a means of settling minor disputes and acrimonies by our brothers and sisters in this region. The ongoing violence and killings between the Jukuns and Tivs on the border communities of Kante in Wukari LGA of Taraba state and Ukum in Benue state is regrettable and most unfortunate. There is no sensible provocation to push the Jukun people to take up arms against their Tiv brothers either in Wukari in Taraba or Ukum in Benue states. Reasons for the eruption of the current crisis which has placed Tiv farming communities in disarray are absurd, senseless and barbaric. Our independent findings in Wukari LGA of Taraba state, where the idea was conceived reliably gathered that some suspected armed youths violently assailed and brutally murdered military personnel in Wukuri. The armed killers went into hiding after the commission of the dastardly act. By military tradition known to us in Nigeria, the killing of its personnel irked them. But instead of a general reprisal attack on the community where the killing occurred, they launched a painstaking secret investigation to unveil the actual culprits. However, the inclination of some armed criminals and their collaborators to stoke trouble decided to speculate on the killing, erroneously pointing accusing fingers at Tiv youths in Kante, Wukari as responsible for the murder of the military personnel to spark reprisal attacks on Tiv communities by soldiers. Unfortunately for the purveyors of violence, the Military refused to accept the malicious rumour and proceeded with its discreet investigation to find out the truth. The result of the military’s preliminary investigation plainly disclosed that Jukun youths at Kante were responsible for the killing of the military personnel. And the military in further reaction arrested some Jukun community leaders for detailed investigation to identify the actual suspects from interrogation of the community leaders. Unfortunately, the arrest of the Jukun leaders provoked Jukun youths who felt betrayed by Tiv people. They alleged Tiv people provided information to the military on the source of the killing of the military personnel. This simple and normal course of action instigated Jukun youths and armed militias to launch the unbridled attacks, killings and arson on Tiv communities in revenge. We are not aware of any other contrary version of the cause of the present crisis. It is condemnable and irrational for normal human beings to act in this wicked and evil manner. The Tiv farmers Jukun youths have continued to attack and render homeless in their ancestral abodes have done nothing wrong to warrant such violence on their communities. MBCG is tempted to believe strongly that the ancient feud and acrimony between the Jukun and Tiv populations in Taraba state is replaying and for no just cause. It is unreasonable and crude to think or act in this manner. It is a needless violence, meaningless expression of hate on a tribe to the extent of ascribing to it your own sins. It is an avoidable war. We are tempted to believe the Jukun armed militia are acting the script of Gen. TY Danjuma (rtd) who on March, 24th, 2018 at the Taraba State University maiden Convocation ceremony, urged his Jukun brothers and indeed other Nigerians to self-defence. The former Chief of Army Staff and Defence Minister echoed that “You must rise to protect yourselves from these people, if you depend on the Arm Forces to protect you, you will all die…I ask all of you to be on your alert and defend your country, defend your state,” We believe it is the error of judgment of this statement from Danjuma by Jukun youths that has led to the present crisis. Perhaps, the alleged killing of the military officer by Jukun youths was their idea of self-defence as propagated by Danjuma. And the current round of violent siege of Tiv communities in Wukari and Ukum is the extension of self-defence by Jukun youths. We have no doubt that it is the Jukun youths’ interpretation of Gen. Danjuma’s call for self-defence, probably because they feel killing their Tiv brothers over the arrest of Jukun community leaders is the self-defence of these leaders and shielding of the real suspects in the murder of the military personnel. This is horrible and senseless. It must cease forthwith. To deliberately murder a human being in wrong and those who commit such abominable acts must not be protected by tribe or community, as the Jukun people seem to be doing. The military must be allowed to complete its assignment and handover the actual suspects to prosecuting authorities for justice to be done in accordance with the law. The time for Danjuma to speak to his conscience is now. His intentional silence, as an elder statesman since the current violence on Tiv farmers in Wukari and Ukum LGAs broke out are pointers to his endorsement of it. MBCG views his inaction as contempt for the peace, unity and security of Nigeria. We, therefore, call on African Union (AU), the United Nations (UN) and World leaders to sanction Gen. TY Danjuma. They should prevail on him to stop colluding with the militias of his kinsmen to exterminate the Tiv people of Taraba and Benue states. The rampant killing of these innocent people by Danjuma’s kinsmen is alarming, wicked and evil. And it should not be condoned any longer. |
The Dunamis International Gospel Centre, has in strong terms condemned the burning of goods belonging to some traders close to its Lord’s Garden along the Abuja Airport Road. The ministry, however, faulted the viral video and report online, which claimed that it was responsible for the ejection and burning of the traders’ valuables. Pastor Victor Stephen, who responded to the report, described it as a malicious propaganda. The ministry in a terse statement on Wednesday said its Senior Pastor, Dr. Paul Enenche never ordered anybody to pull down traders’ property as claimed in the video. The statement noted some traders selling outside the Church premises were even empowered by the Church as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility to setup their own businesses and wouldn’t have in turn chase them away as being claimed in the video. The statement below. My name is Pastor Victor Stephen, Head, Central Admin of Dunamis Int’l Gospel Centre. Our attention has been drawn to a video clip circulating the cyber space concerning Traders’ properties being burnt down by Dunamis Church at the New Headquarters. We wish to state, though with dismay, that the Church, Dunamis was not responsible for that kind of act and can never be. Dunamis is geared towards the restoration of human lives and destinies and can never be associated with such heinous acts to indigent persons. It is also worthy of note that some Traders selling outside the Church Premises were empowered by the Church as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility to setup their own businesses. It would therefore be mischievous for anyone to assume that Dunamis would authorize such an act. Please disregard this malicious propaganda, Dunamis is not responsible. Thank you and God bless you. Rivers election: Wike, INEC’s conspiracy to rig elections responsible for stalemate – Niger Delta Group As confusion continues to trail to trail the outcome of just-concluded elections in Rivers State, the Niger Delta Volunteer Congress has accused the state governor, Nyesom Wike of conspiring with the Independent National Electoral Commission to hold the state to ransom. The equally hailed the Nigerian Military for its role during the election and for restraints it showed in the face of grievous provocations in the oil rich state. According to the group, the Nigerian Military stood on the side of deepening democracy in the country by deploying its men for election duty as duly directed by the Commander-in-Chief if the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari. source>>>>http://www.idomavoice.com/2019/03/rivers-election-wike-inecs-conspiracy-to-rig-elections-responsible-for-stalemate-niger-delta-group.html NDVC rising from an emergency meeting on Wednesday March 20, to review the tense situation that is prevailing over the conduct of Governorship and State House of Assembly Election in the Niger-Delta region faulted the failure of INEC to hold its staff to account after it emerged that many of them, including those in senior positions were compromised and were working for specific candidates and political parties in violation of the neutrality expected of them. A communiqué jointly signed at the end of the emergency meeting by James Goodluck, President and King- James Egule, Secretary General, called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the INEC staff that took part in the elections in Rivers State, policemen, military personnel and all other actors with a view to identifying the compromised ones among them and to diligently prosecute anyone indicted. The communiqué reads. The meeting particularly noted the impasse in Rivers State, where confusion continues to trail the outcome of the elections, such that the prospect of violence remains high. It is obvious that subsequent actions taken by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will have implications for the peace and security outlook of not just Rivers State but the entire Niger-Delta region. The meeting acknowledged the stabilizing role played by the Nigerian Military during the elections as the deployment of troops was crucial to the fewer incidents of violence that were recorded during the exercise relative to the heightened sense of imminent region-wide violence that had been anticipated. Attendees however expressed concerns that the deployment of the military was exploited for evil by leading politicians in the region, particularly in Rivers State where thugs and hoodlums in military uniforms impersonated soldiers to cause mayhem at collation centres and other venues of electoral activities. The attendees expressed disappointment that INEC did not properly review the situation before concluding that those that disrupted collation centres and attacked its staff were military simply because of the uniform. It was noted that the development in Rivers State, owing to its sensitive and volatile nature requires increased security and military presence to deter the violent thugs that are bent on sabotaging the electoral process to favour those that recruited them for such purposes. INEC’s misrepresentation of the vital role played by the military could however jeopardize its ability and that of other security agencies to provide protection to Nigerians during the remaining exercise. The meeting was of the view that INEC must, within the limitations imposed by ongoing litigations and court pronouncements, immediately conclude the election in River State, and any other place with outstanding elections in the Niger Delta, in order to ease the tension that its poor handling of the process has created. Niger Delta Volunteer Congress faulted the failure of INEC to hold its staff to account after it emerged that many of them, including those in senior positions were compromised and were working for specific candidates and political parties in violation of the neutrality expected of them. Attendees observed that the people of the Niger-Delta region owe it a duty to themselves to remain law abiding, eschew violence, and alert law enforcement agencies to any breach as well as provide information that will assist in tracking down perpetrators of violence and those impersonating the military. Following extensive deliberations and inputs from those in attendance, the meeting recommended that: The Nigerian Military should be commended for standing on the side of deepening democracy in the country by deploying for election duty as duly directed by the Commander-in-Chief if the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari. The Nigerian Military should be commended for its remarkable handling of the election coverage in states of the Niger-Delta while also being commended for the restraints it showed in the face of grievous provocations in Rivers State. The Federal Government should order a detailed investigation to identify those that were responsible for mobilizing thugs to impersonate the Nigerian Military with a view to prosecuting anyone indicted as deterrence against the repeat of such dangerous act. The Federal Government should direct INEC to apologize to the military for wrongly indicting it for the crime committed by hired political thugs in fake military uniform. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) should investigate the INEC Staff that took part in the elections in Rivers State, policemen, military personnel and all other actors with a view to identifying the compromised ones among them and to diligently prosecute anyone indicted. INEC must immediately act in accordance with its own guidelines and extant legislation to bring closure to the situation it has created in Rivers State. The meeting ended with an agreement to give wide publicity to the recommendations made while appealing to the people of Niger-Delta to remain law abiding.

Barring any unforeseen circumstance, a young man identified as Akaa James, may go the way of all mortals if the final result of the just-concluded guber election in Benue State goes in favour of the Samuel Ortom of the PDP. WWW.IDOMAVOICE.COM gathered that James vowed to commit suicide if Governor Ortom, who he described as ‘Kanshio’ emerged winner. “Mark my words. Keep a date. I will hang myself if God Samuel Ortom aka Kansio emerge governor for a second time (sic),” he had written on his Facebook wall. However, as at 11:am on Monday, Ortom seems to be leading comfortably with over 82,000 vote-margin and with just a local government area left. Interestingly, another Kamo Emmanuel Kano vowed to walk naked on the streets of Benue if the result favours PDP’s Ortom. “I will be waking naked around Benue with my penis in my hand if Ortom becomes Governor for second term,” he also promised in a post on his Facebook wall. Following the defeat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the last presidential and national assembly elections, some persons have concluded plans to stage a protest under the theme Occupy Nigeria. According to Coalition for Defence Democracy in Nigeria, the paid miscreants have been mobilized by some politicians who are not pleased with the outcome of the polls to shutdown the nation. Addressing newsmen on Sunday, Okpokwu Ogenyi, who spoke on behalf of the BoT, claimed that the planned protest is being championed by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party. His text below. Gentlemen of the press, since the announcement of the results for the presidential election held on Saturday February 23, 2019, those that lost in the election have been reacting to their losses. Some of these reactions have been by way of intellectual engagement in which the candidates and their supporters express their improved understanding of how democracy and political dynamics operate in the Nigerian context. The more sincere ones among them have admitted the near impossibility of unseating a performing president through the ballot hence the overwhelming win of President Muhammadu Buhari who won on the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket. Some losers have, however, been sore in defeat. They denounced the result with the worst choice of words possible. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar are in the forefront of this collection of aggrieved losers. What must be given to them however is that they have been creative enough to limit their bellicosity to inciting utterances and body language, which they possibly expect their supporters to decode and descend on the streets with violent protests. This development is the reason that the Coalition for Defence Democracy in Nigeria, CDDN, is not aligned with those that have been asking Atiku to call and congratulate President Buhari. There is no basis for that because it will amount to creating a situation where the loser in an election must validate the victor’s win. It is enough that the home nations of the international observers once misled by the PDP have sent their congratulatory messages to Nigeria and President Buhari. While Nigeria does not rely on their endorsement to validate its electoral processes, the United States, the United Kingdom, China, the African Union, scores of African countries and other friends of Nigeria have congratulated President Buhari, which they would not have done had the election failed to meet the minimum threshold for acceptability. The PDP is being backed by several ethnic jingoist organizations that present as socio-cultural organizations, religious bigots as well as pro-corruption groups and individuals. Like their client, these people have limited themselves to threats and incitement without actually backing their threat of violence and destabilization with actions. This restraint on the part of PDP and its supporting organizations has now been found to be a Trojan as they have outsourced their violent protests through a consultancy to “Occupy Nigeria”. “Occupy Nigeria”, a misappropriation of the slogan under which Nigerians resisted PDP misrule in 2012, is now being used by these protest consultants to threaten the peace of the country. The group that now goes by the name has threatened to shut down Abuja on Monday and what we have found out is that they plan to spread the protest to other cities if the Abuja legs proves successful. CDNN finds this attempt at using the result of the election to cause mayhem when the international community, including countries that were initially apprehensive of the conduct of the election, has accepted the outcome. We observed that Occupy Nigeria is now expressing disappointment in the endorsement of the polls by the international community when its clients where euphoric at the time these same foreign countries were harassing the Nigerian government on the basis of lies told against the administration of President. It has not been able to been able to present any compelling evidence to support why it is rejecting an election adjudged to be free, fair and credible by all stakeholders except the PDP and its lackey groups. We further observed that the demands that Occupy Nigeria is hinging its protests on bear uncanny similarities to the demands that Atiku and PDP allegedly presented to the National Peace Committee, which they have all denied anyway because they have seen that these requests are criminal in nature and intent. The protests planned by Occupy Nigeria are therefore provocative, irresponsible and an attempt to create conditions that will degrade security in the country while providing excuses for those earlier mobilized by Atiku to attempt a forceful takeover of the government. They represent a stubborn progression of Atiku and the PDP with their original plot to force their way into government even when they know they have been rejected by Nigerians. CDNN is therefore warning Occupy Nigeria to behave within acceptable parameters defined by Nigerian laws as any attempt to provoke crisis would be met with disproportionate citizens’ response. Other measures include laying bare the relationship that exists between it and PDP as well as Atiku. If they persist on trying to destabilize the country we will expose to Nigerians the specific associates of Atiku that contacted them, phone calls and SMS logs, and details of financial transactions of the payment made to procure Occupy Nigeria’s services. Occupy Nigeria must take note that nobody has the monopoly of mischief and violence. It is receiving money to hold its protests but there are millions of Nigerians that will counter those violent outings on the streets out of patriotism and their love and appreciation for the leadership he is providing to the country. Any attempt to destabilize the peace of the nation will therefore be decisively rejected by Nigerians. Occupy Nigeria will fail worse that Boko Haram and other defunct terrorist groups that had attempted to destroy Nigeria. The practice in Nigeria is for anyone aggrieved by the outcome of elections should approach the Election Tribunals up to the Supreme Court to seek redress. If Occupy Nigeria is eager to be of use to the PDP they should then encourage Atiku to go to court and fight his case there especially now that the Judiciary is being purged of corrupt judges. Instead of holding questionable protests, Nigerians should task the organizers of this charade to come forward with workable initiatives to help President Buhari deliver on his promises to Nigerians. Part of the progress we should make as a nation is for the youths not to be misled by agents of destabilization that are bent on triggering copy-cat revolution in a country where it is least needed.

The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Paul Enenche, has urged Nigerians to remain calm, following the postponement of Saturday's elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. Enenche urged Nigerians to turn out en-masse and perform their civic responsibilities during the rescheduled elections. The clergy man, who made the appeal during service at the Glory Dome, on Sunday was reacting to the several reactions that trailed the postponement of the Saturday's elections. Enenche, while urging Nigerians not to be too angry with INEC, stressed that no institution and group of people will deliberately agree to disgrace a whole nation before the world. He said: "We have had several reactions from several quarters and I won't say anything about the reactions but I want to appeal to us all that this coming Saturday which the election has been shifted to, we should go out and vote, don't be tired. "People travelled to places for this election and they have to return, please anywhere you can get money do and travel back. "Nigeria is at a very strategic junction, the destiny of the nation is at stake. We believe the Bible and it says all things woks together for good so I believe the moment of election is meant for good to them that loves God. "Do you remember when I said there will be many dramas and we are at the tail end of these dramas but listen to this we don't know the details but Jehovah knows. We do what we can and leave what we can't. It's our duty to go out again and do what we need to do. We vote conscience, what we can defend before God, fear nothing, don't say your vote will not count go and do it and let God make it count, God is on how side in this election and the victory is assured. "Don't be tired hit the road again and discharge your civic responsibility, do what you are meant to do and God will do what only him can do. "Don't be too angry with INEC, I can see everything turning around. I don't think anybody or institution will deliberately decide to disappoint the whole few hours to voting, I don't think anybody would agree to bring the whole nation to shame before the whole world. Every time you see the rat out of the hole in the day time you know something is up so don't over curse INEC just calm down and let us do what is expected of us and God will do his way." http://www.idomavoice.com/2019/02/what-dr-paul-enenche-said-about-postponement-of-general-elections.html

The Pro-active Coalition for Buhari (PCB), has resolved to work for the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari despite the controversy trailing the postponement of the general elections. The group said, although, it received the news of the postponement in shock and disbelief despite its preparedness for the polls, but it is determined to ensure President gets his return ticket. Patience Ekoh, Publicity Secretary of the group, said although, they welcome and respect the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), but they are nonetheless committed to coming out in numbers to overwhelmingly vote for President Muhammadu Buhari on 23 February 2019. He said, “We consequently pledge to abide by the decision of INEC to ensure that every vote counts and the credibility of the poll are not eroded by false prophets who want to see Nigeria fail or return power to those who squandered our commonwealth in times past. “Our unalloyed commitment to the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari is as a result of his great efforts in steering the ship of Nigeria to greatness as exemplified in the past three years he has been on the saddle of leadership. “The commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari to the security of the citizenry despite politically sponsored killings by the opposition is one reason Nigerians will vote for the President overwhelmingly in the next few days. “President Muhammadu Buhari has indeed proved to Nigeria and Nigerians that a better future lies ahead and that it is possible for Nigeria to be great again despite the magnitude of challenges he inherited from previous administrations. “We consequently charge the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain impartial and conduct all their affairs with National Interest. “We also wish to inform staffers of INEC of the need to be of good behaviour during the elections and to remind them that anyone who commits electoral crimes against the state would be prosecuted accordingly. “The Buhari Support Coalition is undaunted in its resolve to vote overwhelmingly for President Muhammadu Buhari and put to shame those that have ganged up against him for no justifiable reasons. “With this postponement, we are stronger and better. We are ever ready to vote regardless of the date and time of the elections. “The Buhari Support Coalition also wishes to advise those that are trying to ferment trouble in the polity to desist from such as the Buhari Support Coalition would not take lightly any threat to our nascent democracy. The Buhari Support Coalition also wishes to remind saboteurs that this is not the place to carry out their nefarious activities as President Muhammadu Buhari has done everything to win the confidence of Nigerians and to be re-elected at the polls.”

The Abba Moro Campaign Organisation hereby informs supporters of our candidate, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro, the senatorial flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Benue South not to be discouraged by the sudden postponement of the Presidential and National Assembly elections earlier slated to hold today by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. While we are still shocked over the eleventh-hour decision by the electoral umpire, let us believe that it was done in the best interest of the country. We are in no way perturbed over the postponement of the exercise because our victory has already been sealed and delivered by the Grace of God. The decision to shift the exercise would no doubt enable us prepare well for the victory party of Comrade Moro, the Ogigo Mebe K’Idoma. Even if the election is rescheduled 100 times, we are confident of victory because our people have decided to vote for a BETTER TOMORROW and won’t renege on their promise. We highly regret any inconveniences our supporters, especially those who traveled down to Benue South to exercise their franchise and support Comrade Moro might suffer over the sudden postponement of the election. We call on them to remain calm and resolute as our victory at the polls is sure and won’t be tampered with. Ameh Comradde Godwin Director, Media and Publicity AMCO

No fewer than 18,000 members of the All Progressives Congress have defected to the All Progressives Congress in Benue South Senatorial district. They were received by the party in Ohimini LGA of the state during the ward to ward tour of the PDP in the area on Thursday. Among the defectors were former chairman of the APC, secretary and council member. The defectors hinged their reason on the failed government of the President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC. Speaking on behalf of the defectors, leader of the group, Oche Ogbu, said they decided to join the PDP because they no longer understand the ruling party. He said APC has not been able to fulfil single promise it made during the 2015 electioneering camapaign. “Buhari is a curse to Nigeria. That is why he’s stumbling and making blunders. He would continue to fall until he stumbles out of power. We were there and can testify that Buhari is a failure to Nigeria,” Ogbu said. Receiving the defectors on behalf of the party, Mike Iduma, former Commissioner for Health in Benue State, described their action as encouraging. Iduma, who was also chairman of the PDP in Benue Stated, welcomed the defectors, assuring them of equal treatment. “In PDP, we don’t know new comer or old member, we are all one. You have made the best and right decision and we are happy about that. “We are all aware that the APC government has failed. I overhead Comrade Abba Moro, our party’s senatorial candidate saying that the APC promised change but ended up bringing hunger to our land. That is the truth. We have seen situations were food get missing from people’s kitchens. It wasn’t like this under the PDP government. “I am sure our people have learnt their lesson and won’t repeat same mistake they made in 2015. “We must vote Atiku as our President, Samuel Ortom as our Governor, Abba Moro as our Senator, Egli Ahubi as our house of reps members and Chris Adaji as our state assembly member,” Iduma said. source>>>>http://dailypost.ng/2019/01/19/18000-apc-members-join-pdp-benue-declare-support-atiku-ortom-moro-others-photo/
