I am quite sure we didn't wait for S2 to return for it to be this slow paced. Like i get they have to be faithful to the books and all that, but been slow paced in a book and been slow paced in live action are 2 things entirely, with the latter less rewarding and higher potential to loose interest very fast. I could have skipped episodes following "The Battle at Rook's nest" and i wouldn't have missed anything!. The show runners teased 2 big battles in S2 before the premiere, and currently it doesn't seemed like we would be getting the second with the way things are going. The most annoying bit of this season, is the Corlys and this Shipyard bit, almost unnecessary if you ask me. These brothers have been putting on the same clothes, at the same scene for how many episodes now, pretty sure they shot all those scenes in one day π. Except they are planning to make 10 seasons of this, they should seriously pick up the pace cuz this S2 is basically a filler, and for a show this young, it shouldn't be. It begs the question, if a show takes about 2 years to make, and they don't bring their best foot forward when it premieres, what was even the point of it taking that long to make? 3 Likes 1 Share

Chibudollar:The official word is that most of the ballooned budget is going into personnel settlements rather than actual production sets and design but it still doesn't add up. it's most likely a money grab gimmick by Ben Stiller, since Apple seems to have a lot of cash to throw around. Apple has committed to making 5 seasons of this, but at a r reduced cost, since they are changing the way they spend on production going forward for all their originals. Side note: Severance S2 took this long because Ben Stiller was reportedly trying to justify the over bloated budget, by bringing the very best personnel in the industry on board. Beau Willimon, the famed playwright for House of Cards and Andor, was brought in to oversee S2 and potentially S3, and he didn't come cheap, but no way on God's green earth, does all that even remotely warrant the gigantic budget figures per episode they are quoting. 1 Like

abduleez1:lol The parent company has a 3TN $ market cap so they actually have enough money to throw around, and if that money doesn't yield return, they would still be okay. But like you said, it's wanton wastage and they really need to change strategy if they want to survive in this business. Money isn't everything in production, at least A24 has proven that over the years. So maybe cutting back on budget and focusing on marketing is the best way to go. The crazy Apple Ecosystem gatekeep of the Apple TV+ app should be relaxed. The infact is, the iPhone is truly really only popular within the US, outside of it, going towards Europe and the likes, Android devices hold sway. They should make the app available for android phones and not just the web app and android tv, like they do now. Because, I wouldn't want a situation where they are out of business cuz i don't think i have ever seen an original from them that was bad...more often than not top tier content πͺ 3 Likes |

abduleez1:It's the best show Netflix has put out since Beef for me. The comedy was so dark and brilliant and yet the serious undertone message the show was trying to pass was not lost. Brilliant Brilliant show. ππΎ |

AppleTv + has consistently been putting out better shows than Netflix for the past 2 years or so, with very high quality production value and rich story. I remember seeing "For all Mankind" for the first time, and it was genuinely the best moon landing media i had seen in a while, visually stunning in every sense of it!. Now, the major problem i think Apple Tv + has it's poor marketing, and a market already saturated by other streaming platforms, there shows can easily get swallowed up, and lose reach, without proper marketing campaign. Their catalogue is so rich, but people don't just know about these shows!. I was talking about how good "Bad Sisters" was on X on time, and so many people genuinely hadn't heard of it at that time. I mean this show has a perfect 100% score on RT!. The iPhone brand has made Apple so strong financially that could actually afford to fail in the streaming business and it wouldn't even bite their money chest, but Netflix's sole business is streaming and that's why they make sure their shows and movies are in everybody's faces and they have a wider reach, and most importantly support a wider range of devices and platforms than Apple Tv + does. Apple TV + should heavily invest in strategic, aggressive marketing. I mean their biggest trump card in years has been "Severance" and more than 2 years after, they are still struggling to put out a S2. Also they should stop the nonsense Apple Ecosystem gimmick, and support a wide range of devices and platforms, including Android phones from Android 10 and later, at least. Apple music being available on Android, worked wonders for it, and it's one of the top music streaming platforms worldwide at the moment. So cutting back on funds for making media wouldn't help imo, the simple solution might just be to invest in marketing and a little tweak in operations.

MSGAMBLE9:Good start una..man it's 2024 and this industry more than 30 years old and yet we still can't tell proper stories about our rich history and culture. The industry is like a cult, with production and money going round the same set of people, and they would rather make a shabby representation of our history and pocket the money alone, than hire actual creatives that would do an excellent job. Circa "The Woman King" (2022). The movie was the story of an the Old Oyo Empire and Dahomey, but you could instantly tell the production was top tier and most likely foreign because of the fantastic set designs, props, cinematography and what not...they were basically telling our stories, way better than us. Tired of hearing, "Nollywood don dey try small small" BS, They should be trying big as of now....These nvggas should actually be doing way better 7 Likes 2 Shares |

3 Body Problem (2024). Reminded me of SENSE8 It took a while for them to get to the point, but they finally got to it. Decent sci Fi with a surprisingly fantastic prod design, i just know the budget was huge... I hope they make more. Totally recommended 7/10. 2 Likes

Anyway, it's half of the year and look at the state of said list of the best films so far this year π©π© totally appalling, and i thought 2023 was down bad!... Hollywood has well and truly peaked... I have mentally clocked out of seeing any new flick since like June...i have neither the attention span nor the spare effort to waste on these barrage of bottom barrel flicks that flocks out each week. Lol even reviews for new films on here, for like 5 to 10 pages back scarce like mad, it's mainly oldies. If you even see review for a new flick, it is usually poor. |

Illusioneffect:and between S1 and S2 of HOTD, the production design set is totally different right? Is that what you are trying to say? Oh please. There is no valid reason for HOTD seasons to have a year interval and it's only the Dragons that are sparsely shown that even require heavy VFX work, the other effects are basically green room effects. I can listen to fantasy shows taking time, so what is the excuse for drama shows? or sci fi shows that require very little vfx input? The fact remains, the longer they hold on to these shows, the more relevancy and merch they can sponge off these shows, them not been able to make it as quickly as possible because of the reasons you stated are far from it, is very far from it. I listened to a pod on show making sometime ago, and I got to know that showrunners back in the day, already have a plan for the writing of the show from start to finish, making them easier to film between years. 2 Likes |

ProverbBaelish:Weren't we getting GOT every year from 2011 to 2017 at the very least?. Fact is, it can be done if they set thier mind to it. Showrunners just like to tinker with production these days too much for reasons that are most times less beneficial to the quality of the show itself, more like how the show is perceived by the woke crowd with brittle ears and eyes that will complain at every silly thing. All the redos and rewrite are unnecessary most times. It can't be that the actors has busy schedules, The lead from Severance, Adam Scott, hasn't been in anything new since season 1 ended to the best of my knowledge. I do animation and very little vfx on the side, and i tell you, 90% of the work is done by the computer, the VFX guy just needs to have a design planned and the computer renders within a month or 2 for the low sequence VFX used in majority of shows, except your are talking about hand drawn VFX for complex animations like they have in Pixar movies or Spiderman:ATSV, those could take years to render, because of how complex they are, and how difficult it would be to piece, frame by frame at 30fps which is the industry standard, but there is no way the VFX for a show like Severance, should run into months. They can even do simul shoot for various seasons, by post production takes place later, to hasten things, "The Bear" had a simul shoot for S3 and 4, and these brothers have promised me a new season every june for the past 3 years...This is a proper show. The disadvantages of these long intervals between seasons is that fans are easily weaned off the hype of the show, as it stands now, I really don't give a flying toss how Strangers Things end, these oloriburuku people are splitting the final season into 2 parts to start 2025 and end in 2026, meaning they have taken 10 years to make just 5 seasons. The leads started out as pre teens in High School, and the plot actually revovled round this, and at this moment, one of the leads is actually even a married woman!. Netflix unnecessarily holding on to the show for relevancy because it's one of their biggest titles and nothing more. Bro, this isn't a sustainable way to make shows in a long term if they aim to provide any sort of reward value for the people that see these shows. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Illusioneffect:Like i said, good for you that you can make these list and i totally get your point. But extremely difficult for me or maybe i haven't really set my mind to do it. Extremely difficult to see shows over and over again, especially if they are drama or some other genre that isn't a sitcom. Imagine seeing "Succession" or "The Bear" again, along with all the trauma, lol doesn't mean there aren't great shows and obviously they fit right into any top 10 best show list. I still have some critically acclaimed shows that i am yet see, if i get around to those, probably i will be more eager to make list. Sitcoms are probably tv serial best gift, totally comfort giving and therapeutic, and i certainly get why you vibe with Friends and it's in your list. I saw "The Office US", this year for the first time, and it's probably one of the happiest i have been seeing a tv show in a very long while. π |

joseph1832:Aemond hates his brother guts, so killing him, stragentens his claim to the throne, also killing Rhaenys who is an ally of Rhaenyra, weakens the latter's claim to the throne thereby strengthening his in the process.
