Baddestguyp: samistry:Broosss...The Juliette Nichols stint at Silo 17 might be the most boring sequence i have seen on a tv show in awhile, the whole thing could have been wrapped up in 1 or 2 episodes, but it basically took all season. too invested to turn back now, if not na bin straight. This is a binge show, as a weekly drop is torture. |
Your reminder to see "Chernobyl 2019", today. In the very upper echelon of the greatest show ever produced by HBO...too stellar

Silo S2 (2023-) My least favourite genre of media right now is dystopian, especially one set in a confined space. I dropped this after one episode because it was an extreme slow burn, which is a trait of the genre, but my patience has been on the decline since. But i saw that the S3 trailer dropped recently and i decided to pick it up again. It is still slow paced, but i was able to see it through, and very little is revealed. The fact that this still has 2 seasons more to go before it wraps up, irks me, but it is an Apple TV prod, so it means the production is of the finest quality. Good show if you are patient enough, bad show if you want something spontaneous.👍🏿

pu7pl3:Brooooo i was wheezing last night seeing that take 😩😩, like hey, i used to be a huge critic of TCD takes, but bro has been spot on in the last year or so, so if he says don't watch this, i absolutely do not watch! 😩 plus the whole alien invading earth story is kinda jaded. But my egbon says it is 8/10, so in due time, we will know who is lying 👀🤭 |
Mirasteel:A little pained they hurried with the digital....but it's still playing in some cinemas so let's see. |
Illusioneffect:hmmmm 🤔🤔

Absolutely fitting that, the Biopic of the literal "King of Pop" takes this crown 👑👍🏿.....

Gidah:If i caught on early on something as generational as AOT, i would be so obsessed with it too, you lot will be sick on here of how much i will be going on about it. 👀. "1 of 1 Anime" fr, none of these new cats anime has a sniff chance of snatching it's chains 👍🏿 |
Euphoria US S3 (2019 -2026). Don't do drugs Kids! I have always questioned if this needed a third season, and considering the years that have passed, but seeing it now, i am glad that made it and the entire show is definitely one of my best tv experiences ever. The story for S3 was always going to be chaotic to write because of so many things against it but i think they choose the most logical one, which is years after High School and how the bad turns the characters took during their teenage years affects their entire life. It took awhile for me to settle in, because it was like a Tarantino spaghetti western show all of a sudden, a huge swing from S1 & S2, but when i found a sweet spot, it was smooth sailing and I'd like to review it from the POV of the characters. Ruby "Rue" Bennet - This wasn't a bad kid. Her drug use stems from trying seek relief from emotional stress, and ever since that first high from S1, has life has just spiralled out of control, she try once in a while to grab a handle, but she fails terribly. S3 started out for her as a drug mule, but she kept trying her best to run towards the "light" but darkness kept holding her back, a clear picture how "addiction" can ruin someone's life no matter how hard they try at redemption. I usually have my rift with Zendaya, but OMG! I stood applauding at the end, she acted the hell out of this character. I look into her eyes sometimes, and all i see is despair, grief and absolutely no light...such a brilliant portrayal. Cassie Jacobs - At times i thought OF paid the show for promo, because this was her entire character arc. A bimbo true and true, and Sydney Sweeney played it to perfection. She might be typecast to this kind of role for the rest of her acting career. Lexi Howard - The only character that seemed to make good decisions in high school and it showed in S3, she was the only well put together person that really seemed to have a handle on her life. Nate Jacobs- He has always had a tumultuous past, but in this S3, i thought he had really turned the corner. His end was just a sad sad watch. Alamo Brown - The main antagonist and he was one of the best character all season. So much chrisma and charm and totally bad to the bone. They were appearances by Eric Dane as Cal Jacobs and Aungus Cloud, sad sad watch but a great touch. You could actually feel Eric Dane having difficulty with his speech as the ALS was ravaging his body... continue to rest easy kings😔 🕊️ Ali played by Colman Domingo is probably my favourite character besides Rue in the entire thing. Never has a guest character had such impact, so it was fitting a beautiful shot of him was one of the final shots of the show. A recovery addict himself, he gave such profound monologues on addiction. I go back every now and then to him and Rue's special episode "Trouble don't always last"..such a gem. Many people might give this S3 stick and even hate the ending, but i liked it, the end was as real as it could be, because when you make a couple of bad turns in life, chances are things are going to end badly because life ain't no fairytale. It been an HBO show was another draw, i mean the Cinematography was top notch and really pretty to look at. and sad Labyrinth didn't make music for this final season but Hans Zimmer did a fine job. Same Levinson might be a sick.. sick.. man! but he made a top top show and am actually going to miss it!. 8/10

Palehair:Hear me out.... Artificial intelligence is too big now to ignore, it's like the biggest tech innovation in this new century so trying to ignore it won't make it go away, and it will be foolhardy in the long run. Anthropic released a piece yesterday, that they might actually need to slow down AI development progress, because they can't imagine the scale of progress they have made.!, So you can't just wish this kind of tech away or pretend it doesn't exist just to stand on some shaky faux moral code. I read the Pope's piece on AI last week, and the key takeaway was that, we should find a way to walk side by side with AI, so as the human condition isn't lost. As a creative myself, i was always quick to call out hypocrisy when i detected the slightest AI use, but maan, i incorporated "Claude" into my workflow and i am 10x productive than without, so i am having a rethink because views should be dynamic and change based on recent facts My point being, like the NRA slogan G*ns don't ki*l people, people ki*l people". AI has boundless good possibilities in every sphere, including filmmaking. The question is now, if you decide to make slops with AI, that's on you, not AI. |
100naira:Not sure even WB believes in this movie. The budget for the promo is in the gutters. If not for contractual agreements, they probably would have skipped it altogether. It will be a miracle if it does well, both critically and commercially tbh. |
joseph1832:Did it, so you don't have to...for the love of the game 🫶🏿 |
Desert Warrior (2025). This reverse masterpiece! 🤎. There are bad films but this was quite the discovery, like i have never seen a film so determined to be bad, doesn't even give itself any ounce of chance at redemption, just straight up bad. I couldn't even tell you the plot without sounding like a nutcase. A king (appeared in just one scene btw) is bent on collecting concubines from all tribes in his domain, but one princess refused to be a concubine, and without prior experience at war, raise an army, recruits a bandit, to go against said concubine loving King. Saudi Arabia make so much buck that they could literally burn money on vanity projects, like they have been doing with Sports in the last few years. Now they have ventured into movies, and apparently this is the most expensive movie ever made in their film industry history but you could never tell. The only person that looked like, he had stepped into a film school or ever touched a script was Anthony Mackie, was wondering why he is even in this, then i figured out, the bag must be really heavy and might be down bad. When a broad is a definite 3/10, like your are convinced, all the signs are there...but you just have to "taste it out" for yourself and warn your Gees in the Hood...this is exactly my thoughts with this flick Never...never....recommend!
|
armadeo:Extreme boredom made me open it. I was trying to export a footage on AME and my PC was taking forever, so i couldn't shut down, and the movie was just lying on my desktop, so indulged...worse mistake ever 😩. |
abduleez1:Brooooooo....I actually need James Cameron to stop this fooling...This kind of high technical film making skills could be better used on other projects. |
DieRich5:Oh really? cuz am pretty sure i put ratings in most of my reviews on here Some days ago, someone post The Boys (season 5).... 2/10 and you reply 2/10 is a bit harsh, maybe somewhere around 5/10 for me, S4 was so bad that I didn’t watch S5 but now your giving biggest harsh criticismand i stand by the rating i gave then and the rating i gave today for this hot mess. "The Boys" S5, wasn't unwatchable, are there somethings they could have done better? absolutely yes but still, it didn't make me want to throw up, like this did. The story wasn’t what we expected but it’s a continuation of last part that’s why I’m not that angry and many people too because many film will jump time. Normally, when i see a film, i do like it to sit with me a bit before writing a review so if i write a review immediately after seeing a film, it's either very good or very bad, and am sorry, this was the latter. To tell you the fact, i didn't even expect anything, because the last one was gobshite as well, but not this level. It looked those walk through video game videos on YT. The story made absolutely zero sense...they plastered that fire lady on all the posters and she did fûck all, what was even the point of her character? Zero emotional stakes, like none of the primary characters have died since Part 1, even the ones that died, they find some voodoo gimmicky way to bring them back just so they can continue this fooling till part 4 and repeat this nonsense cycle again... bro i was literally seething with rage after finishing it. If your rating film just by the story only, I bet The Drama and many others movie will be 0/10 from youlol let's even leave the "story" aside because there wasn't even one to begin with... was there anything else to make this movie stick? Any memorable characters? Any memorable speech? Any high stakes moments?. I'm sorry but i am not sorry, there is no way to convince me that this wasn't a garbage fest..and the runtime was a ridiculous 3hrs plus, which was the most painful part, ain't no way they had something reasonable to do in 3hrs plus 😩...but i learnt something new today, that my player could do FFx32 , that's the only logical way i could get to the end. And to "The Drama" (2026). I still stand by what i said, that it's probably one of the best flicks i have seen this year and it had a "STORY"!, a good one at that and perfectly executed.. it might come off as demeaning if i say maybe you didn't get the story which is not my intent as i value everyone's opinions on the way they see films, but till this day, i haven't still seen a good critic of why "The Drama" was a bad movie, on here, so if you could please enlighten me..maybe i will see your POV.👍🏿 |
phr0nesis:Brooo...my head was hot after seeing it, the visuals sef became repetitive at some point. I have rated it anything more above 5, it would mean, i could recommend this movie to someone, which, in all, honesty i can't. |
[i This isn't a serious movie, or a serious franchise for that matter 😔. I held this off just long enough for the day I was finally bored out of my mind to watch it, and that day finally came, and maaaan, what a hot mess it was. Like, 20 minutes in, I just paused and burst out laughing because I couldn't believe the bare shít I was watching 😂😩. From then on, I clocked that it was a gimmick film. The plot doesn't even want you to care or get invested in it. I don't think even James Cameron believed in this story, he just wanted to flex visuals and chill. I couldn't be arsed to remember the last one or even Google it beforehand, so I was just hearing random names like Lo'ak, Talunka, Enywa... like, what are we even doing here?? 😩 The first one was cool and groundbreaking at the time, and had an actual relatable story you could get behind. A soldier with barely anything to live for enlists on a dangerous mission to another planet, tastes that sweet blue Navi'ssy, shít was good, and decides to settle down and get more of said Navi'ssy... like yeah, relatable. But this one? I didn't even know what they were fighting for. Not that I cared anyway, because there were zero characters in that MF I genuinely cared about. The seemingly only redeeming feature would've been the visuals, but even that got a tad boring and monotonous after a while. I get why James Cameron is soldiering on with this gimmick franchise because, even as bad as this was, it still made money. But I'm glad I didn't contribute a dime. My bird vetoed us seeing it at the cinema last December. I was vexed at the time, but man, God bless that woman because Lord knows I would've come to blows with the Filmhouse manager if I had paid to see this debauchery. It might be anger, recency bias, or exaggeration, but it is genuinely one of the worst films I've seen in recent times. And trust me, I have seen some truly despicable films... this one takes the cake. Absolute rubbish! 2/10.

samistry:There is a general misconception that when a movie is "indie, then it's immediately a good film 😂😂....A24 sef dey miss at times, abi no be dem drop"Civil War"?? 😩 |
abduleez1:I don't think they will change their business model too much from where it is now, because doing that might put them out of the reach of "indie filmamkers" and "indie projects", which is their core value in essence. Where they are now atm, is the best fit. The average cinephile is tired of the overflogged slops big studios keep recycling these days. So this is the best time to back an indie project, and there is a very high chance it turns a profit. |
abduleez1:Although, an indie studio has naunced meaning, but i would like to think A24 is still an Indie studio, because it is the studio, historically ready to back indie filmamkers despite the inherent risk. However, i think they actually need money, and they are gradually changing their business model, shifting from limited releases to wide spread release....but still they aren't still on the scale of big studio in terms of revenue and reach, so in that sense, they can still be considered an indie studio. |
abduleez1:Films of similar genre or catering to the same audience have been released all the time, and there are instances where both were successful...read up on the concept of "Twin film"... The ones i can clearly recall is "The Prestige (2006) and "The Illusionist" (2006), released weeks from each other, catered to the same audience, and both were relatively successful, i think Amargeddon (1998) and Deep Impact (1998) too. My point is, let me state it clearly. Superman (2025) and F4 (2025) not doing particularly well at the box office, has nothing to do with them releasing so close to each other. It is basically to the Super-hero genre down bad at the time (or still is sef), and both didn't really set a high bar and didn't leave any lasting impression. If not you mentioned them now, i have almost entirely forgotten these movies were a thing last year. I might want to agree with you, that they were coming off, weaker franchises and weaker films at the time, but still, they didn't hold their own....and Superman made profit??..wow?! because WB were so sneaky in releasing the entire details, so i couldn't even tell 😩 Trust me if 2 filmmakers, make a film of similar genre and decides to put them out at the same time, trust me, people are trooping in to see both, and both will duly make money. The litmus test for this argument I'd think would be "Obsession" and "Backrooms", with the former starting it's theatrical run, yesterday, i am certain it will make money, but let's see. |
abduleez1:It is a big flex for "Obsession" considering it's budget... nobody told those other 2 to release close to each other, and releasing close to each other, wasn't really what "cannibalised" their box office run tbf, they weren't high quality flicks, and weren't showing what people needed to see at the time...they were even lucky, they broke even, after much mental accounting gymnastics that is. Barbie (2023) and Oppie (2023) literally released the same day, the latter was shy of a bill and the former did a bill, so....🤷🏿♂️ |

I have left this task for my good brother pu7pl3...just hold for his review 👀🤭

Illusioneffect:The popular football/Hockey Nepo fawning over a less popular girl, after a heated tensions before? the fake dating? the less popular girl and the popular sports guy hooking up in secret just for segs and actually catching feelings??...maan, except you haven't been seeing cheesy college rom coms but i have had my fair share load of them and i am telling you, this wasn't so different like the plenty others before it. Nothing on that show surprised me!... everything was predictable!, just looking at the poster, i could easily tell...but like i said, it was a good watch still.👍🏿 |
"Alhamdulillah Rabb al-Alamin" 🙏🏿 Sallah Meat + This sumptuous meal.... 🥣. Ohhhh the generational buffet, i am on, this weekend maann 😩👏🏿
|
abduleez1:He is currently my favourite genre of actors. Actors who aren't afraid to take roles from ambitious indie filmamkers and also from well established big studio backed filmamkers, just to flex their acting dexterity. Sebastian Stan, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver are in this same genre...top top actors 🫶🏿 |

Off Campus S1 (2026). College romance, really Hot people and good music 👍🏿. Without "The Boys" and "Invincible" airing, a Prime video sub might seem like a waste, but this got suggested and i kinda liked it. Again, cheesy storyline, that i may have probably seen once or twice before, but the show is really well done, and the leads were able to hold their own and top tier music selections ngl. Good watch if you want something casual and fun to see. 👍🏿 7/10

The Testaments S1 (2026). The Handmaid's Tale for Gen Z. There was a time when quality shows were dropping bar for bar and there was absolutely no room for medicore shows, and The Handmaid's Tale was one of those. The subject matter was heavy af, but it was high quality tv, but they dragged it further than needed, and it became so monotonous...like would they get out of Gilead or not?..got so tiring, copped the final season still but i never went back to it. Then, this was teased as a follow up earlier this year, i reluctantly indulged because of some obvious reasons, and it has been one of my weekly drivers ever since and the final episode dropped yesterday. Well overall, it was an extension of The Handmaid's Tale, like junior league basically same plot, of trying to get out of Gilead, but Man the casting makes it worthwhile...like it was an harem of total beauts 😩, giving, it is obviously overly fem centric and cheesy af, but your eyes is gonna thank you for it, when you are done, especially that Chase Infiniti!, oh good grief, she is one fine piece of biracial goodness!!🍭. 7/10.
