Saw "The Great" to kill time but it turned out to be one of the funniest shows i have seen this year. The satirical approach to Peter II and Catherine's rule of Russia had me laughing all throughout and yearning for a second season and HULU duly obliged.

What?! The earlier episodes are just as captivating as later episodes.
That seem to be a general complain especially on the Subredit that it didn't start with a "bang", to me i was already hooked immediately the theme song and opening montage played at the very first episode.

so you've not seen The Wire, Westworld Season 1, OZ season 1, Fargo, True Detective season 1&3, Gomorrah and other great shows like that?

Oya, go hustle Fargo s4(currently showing). it is a anthology series, so you don't need s1-3.
Though it's anthology styled, i will advise one see the earlier seasons to be better abreast with the story style and plot theme moreover S1 and S2 are some of the best piece of television crime drama i have ever seen..S3 had a deep in quality but was still a good watch.

The time gap for this sequel is far too wide and I don't think it's necessary now.

My dear if you want anything that has to do with high school sexuality, then try sex education.
Now sex education is way more realistic, fun, and relatable than euphoria.
Naaa at Bolded, Euphoria is more realistic and actually embodies what teens actually go through in the western world. Both are solid shows btw.

We're on the same page. I was eager for a followup, but after carefully examining the central theme (toxic mother-daughter relationships), I understood it couldn't have ended better, as it's central questions have been answered.

Kids who have been exposed to Munchausen by Proxy tend to struggle recognizing what constitutes real violence, and separating it from affection. Amma killed the young ladies partially in light of the fact that her psyche's been tainted by being harmed by her mom her entire life. Taking everything into account, she was a victim herself. Adora was the real villain IMO.

True true.. don't know if you've seen "The Act" which was also another brilliant limited series centered on Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome starring Patricia Arquette and Joey King. Joey King's Character physche was so tainted by years of abuse from her Mom that she easily willing connive with a stranger on the internet to kill her mom.

HBO goofed big time by pursuing a season 2. It wasn't crafted to have a followup season. It told it's story, using mystery as it's backbone, left the ending reflective but conclusive. Consequently, forcing a season 2 did more harm than good, it basically transformed a good mystery to a soap opera.

I hope they wouldn't make the same mistake with Watchmen. It's a limited series and should remain as such. I'm tried of seeing great shows ruined by unwarranted sequels.
Exactly...The "Limited series" style has been HBO strong forte in the last few years and i have come to actually like it..I remember seeing "Sharp Objects" last episode and i was like woow with the revelations about Amma and i immediately wanted a S2 but after sometime i was like naah, no need, the end was perfect.

Unfortunately there won't be a season 2 for Watchmen. I hate that the writer isn't considering to continue the story even when HBO is game should the writer decides to write the sequel.
The intent of the the show runner was for a 1 off season mini series style and i think it was perfect and passed the intended message, forcing another season might not meet expectations and ruin the legacy of the entire show e.g Big Little Lies S1 was perfect and intended as a mini series but pressure from fans made them make a S2 which wasn't quite as good.

Marketing gimmick.
Yup. It isn't based on a true story, it is marketed like that to be in tune with the Coen Brothers movie that inspired it which too wasn't based on a true story but opened with the line "This is a true story".

My Favorite Network.... Wetin just remain— make them just knack us better Big Budget Fantasy Adventure series make we take cooleh. Since no game of thrones, person no fit dey wait till 21-22 before the Prequel come out.

Well, probably LOTR series will make that happen next year. Also Wheel of Time is under devt and Production by Amazon. Those ones one totally dominate Big Budget Fantasy. grin
Gee e b like magic..anytime HBO put hand for show na almost sure say e go be hit form Succession to Euphoria to Watchmen etc. E b lyk say dem no dey accept anyhow script.

I think shows were the actors are able to play two or more roles effortlessly are highly likely to be awarded.

Just like Orphan Black.
Yup.. it's like double everything for one project so if the roles are delivered to perfection it will almost certainly be rewarded.
TV/Movies / Re: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by oyaskii(m): 6:48am On Sep 21
The only category why i was really interested in and Mark Ruffalo deservedly won it because it was an absolute peak performance with a side bonus of him playing dual roles so it was double the flawlessness of the performance. Still reeling emotionally from seeing the show sad, simply one of the best i have seen this year.

You like your Wentworth, fine.
You don't like Lovecraft, fine. Leave am.

I didn't want to answer you o, but nah, make we trash am out.

The issue with you and Lovecraft is that you have this ( lemme use your word) constructive mindset( which doesn't even make sense in this context but make we use am) on how a TV show is suppose to go.

(PS: Not be to speak big grammar, the word you should've use instead of constructive mindset is fixed mindset. Two different meanings, ask Google.)

So lemme continue, why didn't you tell GoT to remain in one city to tell the whole story? They travelled to different places from snowy places to freaking hot places in GoT just for the viewer to grasp the entire picture.

Same thing Lovecraft country is doing, we have been told Tic had a girlfriend when he was stationed in Korea and the last episode, Tic called her cos she had already somehow known his affiliation with the cult or so(we weren't told plain like this, just my assumption based on the call he made to her, asking her, 'how did she know?').

So he is going to meet her and let her explain what she knows and if that can help him in quest to translate the pages of the language of Adam.
i am thinking he's behind one moniker called "Speroquest" one time that was hyping Killing Eve and Cable Girls one certain time. Once he's fixated on a series, this thread would not hear the end of it.
