Anime supremacy!

I've been rewatching AOT S4 all week, but I didn't remember it being this dark, bleak, and intense, like wtf! 😩. I needed to step away and find an anime with a lighter tone to fill the void, and this was exactly the right fit.

It struck a nice balance between goofy and intense. Tanjiro finally undergoes Hashira training in preparation for what seems to be the final showdown with Muzan. But with Nezuko proving she can survive sunlight, Muzan wasn't about to sit around waiting,he brought the fight straight to the Hashira headquarters.

And Muzan might just be all talk... because, bro, his demon chain might be fake, fgs. 😩 He saw all the Hashira ready to murd him and was like, "Whoop! Everybody into the Infinity Castle you go."!

I thoroughly enjoyed this. It had all the hallmarks of a proper anime, especially the habit of over explaining every situation. 😩😅 The visuals were absolutely stunning as well.

I've been mostly busy with work and personal struggles which have mostly kept me away here for the better part of two months.

On a lighter note, I was on fire last year. I just don't pay that much attention to details and analysis of box office predictions like I do before. I no get time to dey look movie calendar several months before release and compare competing films. Very much unlike me when I know almost all the major films releasing each month through the year.
I just move with the feeling I'm getting these days. Which have been quite off lately. 😏

I would really love to see "The Odyssey" (2026) tomorrow, which is looking like, is gonna be one of the biggest cinematic events this year but i am currently stuck in a town where the lastest screening, are films from like a year ago! 😩.

I hate, how our film culture is so mute here, outside the big 3 states and some mini states, the cinema game is almost at ground zero. People in Jigawa and Ebonyi, will get to hear about "The Odyssey" around November or so, when it drops on VOD fgs.

I am too wild of cinephile at heart to be living in this hell hole 😔

Obsession (2025).

Kinda meh.

Again, what are we even doing? Have we lost touch with what a really, really good film looks like because we've seen so much slop over the last few years?

I billed today as the perfect day to watch perhaps the two most hyped films of recent times, and after gbàrooms, I immediately started this. It didn't fare any better either.

A lovestruck bozo wishes upon a mythical object that his crush falls head over heels for him, but the results were very far from what he expected.

The story was so ordinary that I was confidently fast forwarding through it, and I didn't lose any important details. I had coined the perfect opening line for this review: "Be careful what you wish for." But I changed my mind at the last minute. I couldn't waste such a good line on this mid-fest.😩😩

Again, my expectations were through the roof, and again, I was disappointed. I could have been totally fine without seeing this, and if you avoid it too, you wouldn't miss anything... trust me 😔

Now, is it watchable? Perhaps, yes. But it could do without the hype. It nowhere matched it in delivery. Difficult, difficult recommend.

I too would also like to know because the famous one i know was a miniseries in 1997 dubbed into one full length movie.

Anyways...Saw this Gif and it instantly gave me life!!, and not to be an alarmist, but we might be looking at one of the best films out this year. I have a good feeling that this franchise has something special for me.👍🏿

Moana (2026)

It should get to a point where enough is enough, and I think we're at that point.

When Moana (2016) came out, I wouldn't say it was groundbreaking, but there was definitely a shift. It quickly caught on and became one of the best animated features from a company famed for the medium but which, in the years prior, looked like it had lost its spark. It became a pop culture icon almost overnight, and the rest is history.

Fast forward to 2024. After a staggering 8 year gap , a sequel was conceived that, sincerely, no one asked for. But apparently it was still enjoying the goodwill of the hugely successful first film. The story was kinda meh, but it still did very decently at the box office. At that point, you would have expected Disney to take the win and pack it in. But no.

A mere two years later, they're back with a live-action remake of the original, and I'm left wondering, what is even the f**king point?

This is the same lead from the previous two, but this time he's at the lowest point of his career, looking for anything that resembles redemption. Sadly, this isn't it.

I already have my issues with live action adaptations of animated films because I think, most of the time, it's difficult to translate all the intent, charm, and expression from animation into live action. As such, I think the two mediums should stay as far away from each other as possible. But that isn't even my main problem here.

My biggest issue is just how needless this is. There isn't a logical reason for it to exist, and the overwhelmingly negative reviews aren't even surprising and a live action remake of thee first animation, inverably means they might make a live action remake of the sequel of the animation and that thought scares me to bit 😩😩.

I hate wishing for a movie to fail because I have people in the film industry, and I know the sheer effort it takes to make even a short film. But part of me hopes that if this fails spectacularly, it'll force Disney to do some serious inward reflection on whether these live-action remakes of their animated classics are worth making.

The joy on my little ones' faces when they first watched Moana (2016) is still fresh in my memory, so I'm not about to taint that feeling by letting them watch this big corp, quick money grab, soulless slop...oh no!

This one was just so annoying. When they just released part 2 of the animated film, dem get liver dey give you repackaged shite from the first movie that isn't even old enough for a live action.

loool...The Dwayne Johnson fall off needs to be studied. Big Unc was bagging gig left and right some few years back, now he can't even catch a break. He appeared on TCD's crash and burn series, and i was like naaaw, Big Unc is done in this industry... such a shame 😩😩

ANDOR S2......9/10

It is a gripping political thriller. Superb finale with top notch finesse. Light on the continuous space fights and action that has defined the Star Wars franchise. This one is a more grounded fare and makes me itch to rewatch Rogue One— which it is a spin off of and a prequel to. Rogue One was the first Star Wars movie I ever cared about and this TV show solidifies why it will always be dear to my heart.

This focuses on happenings in the galactic empire; in planets like Coruscant, Ferrix, Yaavin, Chandrilla, Ghorman.....a massive web of events in different parts of the galaxy that leads to open revolt against the tyranny of the Empire. From a spark in the planet of Ferrix where Cassian Andor hails from, the seeds of dissent and rebellion against 'Imperial' terror was born and spread slowly throughout the galaxy.

If I was told Star Wars would provide a tale so intricate and well thought out like this, so gripping, concise and grounded in realism and impeccable execution, I wouldn't believe. But ANDOR did just that.

It explores themes of oppression, dictatorship and blind bureaucracy from the likes of Dedra and Syril who follow orders from above unquestioned, without pause for the lives affected or destroyed with every single decision.

That scene with the Ghorman genocide was a master stroke of directorial ingenuity. The suspense, the tension in the atmosphere, the fear of the unknown, the eerie feeling of knowing how things were definitely going to go wrong. It was a treatise on how brutal oppression and suppression works.

Amidst all the chaos, oppression, political scheming, tension and revolt, Andor still manages to offer moments of hope, a better tomorrow for our protagonists. A case for hope finding a way to win despite the impossible odds against the monster machines of tyranny assembled by the formidable and scary Empire.

The whole episode about Dedra and ISB officials trying to capture Luthen played by the immaculate Stellan Skarsgard, was a beauty. That man just continues to prove why he's untouchable in a drama that requires suspense and dread. Dude is too darn good with his craft.

Top shelf TV show right here. And this continues to be the Best staple Star Wars has to offer on the TV side with its companion movie Rogue One where this was spun from.

I was kinda sad and angry I had come to the end of the TV show cos of how good it was....this is despite consuming 12 wholesome episodes of sci fi goodness. Not many shows make me feel this way. I wanted more.
This is easily one of the best sci-fi shows I've ever watched.

Brooooo. It is such a profound show.. absolutely flawless. The best thing to come out of LucasFilm and Disney Combo. It is a difficult difficult recommend because of the slow build up, but the eventual payoff unraveled so beautifully.

There is a way it mirrors our current reality to a fault. In this era where good shows seems like a scarce commodity, this is actually one of my all timer, and I don't say that lightly.

The season had my great moments but Mon Mothma's speech to the Senate after the Ghorman genocide was my favourite.

It is such a shame that it is literally impossible to make another season but those 2 seasons are gold. 🥇

Rhaenyra is a tragic character. The problem comes from Viserys who made her the heir and didnt teach her how to rule.

Furthermore, when She took Kingslanding, the greens looted the royal treasury. She also didnt have a small council.

The greens and Aegon II had it easy, they took over from a peaceful reign, while Rhaenyra took over in war.

You can know those who have never had leadership roles before. Ruling is never easy.


That being said, Rhaenyra is still a spoilt girl. She too has her own flaws. There are times to bend as a ruler. She should have granted Corlys his request.

I think if we stopped calling every new release the "movie of the year," we'd have more realistic expectations for the kinds of films coming out these days. I don't think we're getting back to the era when movies truly felt worthy of that title.

That being said...

I've never hidden my feelings about whodunit stories, whether they're movies, TV shows, or books. They often follow the same predictable and boring pattern, the killer hiding in plain sight.

But this goes beyond being just another whodunit. It has a warm, cozy charm, and the anthropomorphic characters make it feel like the kind of movie the whole family could enjoy.

No, it's not the [i]movie of the year[/i but it is a good one.
