abduleez1:Okay Good. As long as no nobody is trigger happy to nuke anybody or thing, I'm good Yess! Solar Energy seems like the best possibility for better and stable power solution here, most especially because we are in a tropical zone but as usual the government is not proactive. We still rely on structures built years ago for power. To put things in perspective, China's average power production is currently about 600 million terawatts whilst we, this hell hole of a country produces, a meagre 5000 megawatts, meaning, China produces about 118 million times the power we produce, and that 5000 megawatts is on a good day on cuz most times it drops, that's the amount of power that the government expects about 200m plus people to use to progress 😩. The funny thing is that Most of China's power is generated from coal, which we have abundantly here, infact go to some places in Enugu, before you dig 3ft, you are already swimming in coal!, but we have bums as leaders. Without constant Power, you can't grow a "genuine wealthy" economy, it is simply not possible. During my post grad, my food chemistry Professor used to tell us, how he kept meat samples at a particular subzero temperature at a lab in Michigan state University, and he went back years after, the meat samples were still intact years after, just like he had left them!, in contrast, i kept my research samples in my department's lab freezer, only to come back to spoilt samples, some few weeks after because no constant power and the gen they have can't power the freezer. Bro, I can't stress it enough, i genuinely hate it here 😩😭. 3 Likes |

abduleez1:I think the Emmy win she got with Euphoria elevated her star power but brotherly, i no go lie, i never see wentin the babe dey act. Tom Holland that is even struggling to get roles now? I don't think that is even a flex, if for anything, she's the one contributing to Tom Holland's smallie star power. I think Genz that knew her from her Disney days, forms the bulk of her fans now. 1 Like |

Illusioneffect:It's like other good historical mini series but probably better in terms of general production design and casting. I wouldn't say the first episode started slow, but it picked up pace once the Nuclear blast happened. |

abduleez1: Bro, Mini series aside, Have you noticed how HBO shows, are always Clean. Like from seeing the opening sequence, everything just looks sharp and in order. I opened White Lotus S2 the other, and it was just so beautiful to look at. Them sabi this show production thingy die. Probably why they are one of the most awarded Network at the Emmys. As for the dangers of nuclear energy, well things are better managed this era than before. And the Soviets were pretty reckless with that incident. I don't even mind Nuclear Power being used to drive turbines for electricity. It is clean and great for the environment. It is the potential arming and usage for military purposes that has me shaken. USA still actively has like 5000 Nuclear war heads, Russia may have even more. Smaller nations like North Korea and Iran, have also start gathering these Nuclear war heads, with nobody ready to decommission its. I just hope there isn't a point they decide to use it for any reason. Nigeria?? Nuclear Plant?? Abeg Abeg Abeg! 😭😩. We can't even maintain roads, heck, we have four refineries that have been out of commission for years, that we are still struggling to put just one online. Bro, our maintenance culture is next to zero coupled with brazen corruption is just a bad mix for a potential Nuclear Power Plant. Nuclear reactions are so fast, and gives high yield energy levels in such a short time, that there's no room to correct any mistakes once it happens. Nigeria is too unstable for Nuclear energy at the moment, so make we just dey manage our Kainji Dam dey go 😭 3 Likes 1 Share |

abduleez1:On subject of Zendaya I really can't fathom the perceived hype around her cuz i honestly don't rate her. The only decent performance i have seen of her, is the one from Euphoria. She always seem to play this lethargic character that has zero dimension. So what's the hype bro? Is it that there isn't enough actress around her age bracket with similar star power to rival her? It can't certainly be sex appeal. I always know what to expect with her acting and I don't think that's a good thing, or maybe i have not seen enough of her movies, is there a particular one i should see? 4 Likes |

"Chernobyl" 2019. "Every lie we tell incurs a debt to the truth, and sooner or later, that debt is paid". Valery Legasov at the Chernobyl Disaster Inquiry hearing. It's like HBO has really hacked this mini series thing cuz i am in total awe of how well made this was. This tells an impressive historical account of Chernobyl Disaster, the subsequent clean up efforts and the cover up by the Soviet Union to downplay the true extent of the crisis, inadvertently leading to the break up of the USSR. Although some aspects of the show was fictionalized for dramatic effects, but the account and delivery was so vivid, and the horrors of a nuclear disaster is laid bare in an emotionally charged 5 episodes. So good that you wouldn't even notice the show wasn't in the native language, and the cast were infact almost entirely British. Ever since i learnt basic Physics, the dangers of Nuclear Power has never been lost on me. It is perhaps the cleanest energy there is, as a few kg of nuclear charged particles could power a whole city with minimal fuss, but again it can be harness for so many other things, some good and some evil. After WW II, the world had now known the dangers of a Nuclear weapon in a armed conflict. The disaster, isn't like chemical bombs, that just destroys buildings and call it a day, some radioactive elements that, are used in making weapons have a very stable half life that could range from a few years to thousands of years, or even millions of years!. A small yield of a nuclear weapon could obliterate a whole city within seconds, every person, every animal, every plant, every microorganisms...I mean everything, gone in a flash!., that is even the short term effect, longer term effects include, Acute radiation poison, cancers, change in DNA sequences, for even people far away from the ground zero and making such places inhabitable for years and years. The city of "Pripyat", which was ground zero for the Chernobyl disaster, is still a desert waste land and unfit for living even till this day, because of the acute radiation still present, some 30 years plus, after the disaster. There is a treaty that protects everyone from Nuclear weapon from been used in an armed conflict, but i fear the world is been pushed further and further into a point where a nuclear weapon is used. Countries with mentally unstable leaders like Iran and North Korea, can seemingly arm and enrich nuclear materials at will, Russia and Ukraine, Israel and Hamas/Palestine are been drawn to endless battles for months and years now, without a end in site, and countries like the USA that are supposed to be suing for peace, and send billions in aid and military relief to these nations, to fuel these wars, i fear we are at the brink. Back to the show. The fantastic attention to detail and impeccable delivery from a talented cast makes this one of the best series ever made and it been one of the highest rated show ever on IMDB, doesn't it flatter. it was able to hold a high level of suspense and grim even the though the story is so well known...Just a brilliant brilliant piece of Tv Drama A true all timer ⭐ 9/10. 5 Likes 3 Shares

"Challengers" 2024 Hyper-Bait!. The ménage à trois scene plastered everywhere when this film was announced, sold this film as some sort of hyper erotic fest flick, with lawn tennis as the side dish. I think that's what drove the popularity. In reality, lawn tennis was infact, the main course , with the side dish being two guys who really loved themselves and a girl trying to separate them, with like one semi erotic scene in the entire thing. That was basically it, just so you know what you are getting into. Absolutely great if you love tennis 🎾, seeing it for any other reason? Look elsewhere. 6/10

Kaycee7:succinctly put!. If you don't like a show, just drop it, and leave the crowd hyping it, to keep hyping it, instead of coming to complain every market day. It gets tiring. I have a clear set of personal traits i look for in a show and not just going after a show or movie, because everyone else seems to like it. This my personal traits sef, has lead to see some mid shows and movies, sometimes, but i always trust my guts. Anyone struggling to see a show they don't like just because finishing it and talking about it on here, means they will tagged them as having a fine taste, are seeing shows for the very wrong reasons and missing out on the only valid reason why we see shows or movies, which is self enjoyment. 1 Like 1 Share |

Baddestguyp:That's why you need to remove emotion from things like this because the fact remains, absolutely nobody owes you any explanation why they hold the views they hold on your fave show. Your emotional attachment to the show is what irks you when someone says the show is bad or mid. Tbh, for AOT for example, one can't tell if the person saying it's mid, is saying it out of spite or genuine imperfections of the show, but you shouldn't worry your head over that. An explanation will do you no good, it will ultimately lead to pointless arguments around circles that drags on unnecessarily. The fact is a negative comment about your fave show, wouldn't change the way you feel about that show or stop you from enjoying it, and if peradventure, you actually meet someone on here ready to debate you on the flaws of AOT on here, fine and good, if not, just look past negative comments and keep it moving. At bolded, the statement reeks of narcissism, movies and shows are not that hard to grab or decipher, infact it's even easier to break down a show to bit for more understanding with the use of forums, blogs or even A.I. so a person having a negative comment about a show, does it mean they misrepresented the show,or didn't understand it or let me use the word you like to use, they have low media literacy . That low media literacy bit you usually use sef, is down right condescending tbh, There is no university that awards "high media literacy" to you or anybody else for that matter. Learn to leave emotions aside, you would see how much more you will enjoy shows, movies and interactions about them on here also. 1 Like 1 Share |

I always see people on here and generally, keep chugging shows they don't like, hoping they will eventually like it because its rated highly by fans and critics and i just laugh because more often than not, they always end up disappointed. When it comes to seeing media, and in life generally, you must trust your guts more often, because not every show or movie will resonates with you because we are all wired differently, and everybody rating it high doesn't necessarily mean it's good for "you", read that again, the show isn't bad and probably deserve the high ratings from the people rating it high, but the most important thing is that it's not good for "you" and there would be no point trying to make sense of it. It doesn't mean you have a bad taste or the people rating it high have a bad taste either, and i am very sure if you sieve through all the many good ratings, you will also find a pretty good amount of bad ratings as well. There is absolutely zero price for liking every show or movie that drops, infact personally for me, it's a red flag if i see someone that virtually likes everything that drops, and i begin to question their taste. Baddestguyp is ready to wear an armour and shining valour to defend AOT as the greatest show ever made but there are people, even here, that would counter him and burst his ballz that AOT is just another anime on top the thousands that already exists and it's nothing special. These 2 truths co-exists in a unique duality of our nature as individuals to perceive art and media differently. So next time a show isn't working for you after a few episodes in, just drop it despite any celestial ratings. That's why it's becoming increasingly difficult for me to even recommend shows to people cuz people just like what they like and hate what they hate at the same time despite your opinions. i started "Dark Matter" (2024) and i immediately fell in love with the main title sequence/opening sequence, totally reminded me of one other one i like, which is " that of Severance", and ironically both shows are Apple Tv originals, seems they have a knack for it. it might not seem like such a big deal, but for someone like me who moonlights as a motion graphics designer, these kind of thing excites me and when i see a show with a very good one, i never skip the opening, all season long. infact the Emmy has a category for it called "Outstanding Main Title Design", of which unsurprisingly, GOT and Severance have won in the past, 2 of my all time fave, notable mentions are that of "The Leftover" and "Westworld". To the show itself, it's off to a great start, but i think they have given away their biggest mystery just 2 episodes in or no?, but i am sure it's gonna be good going forward, and they definitely have my attention. I mean, Apple TV making a show like "Severance" where they dwell on alternate/dual realities? best believe i will be there, with my bowl ready to be served 😌 2 Likes

abduleez1:Yeah, it's weak and any show minimally above par has a shot.
It is really good but it depends on individual perspective sha, and it is Netflix's strongest shot at the Emmy. Also is it the same shït that's played out with FX's "Fargo" TV show? I see that show in limited TV series and I get confused cos I know it's running on its 5th season by now. 🤔😕 Or is it cos its an anthology series format? Seems Fargo is among the favourites for Best actor role in Limited series so its a win-win for FX if Shogun stays clear and give it better chances against Baby Reindeer.Yes!. Emmy classify Limited and anthology together, so Fargo qualifies since it is an anthology! and FX potentially don't want it and Shōgun in the same category, maybe that's why they submitted the latter as a drama. On the best actor for a limited series, i can tell you now, that the guy from Baby Reindeer did better than John Hamm in Fargo S5, and will most likely get it, imo. As for Shogun S2 I don't see a way they're doing it good with how it ended. It's only filler after documenting how Ishido is defeated in which we already have an idea how. Source material is dried up....unless they plan on borrowing from the true life events its adapted from. I still see it ending poorly cos I can't picture them matching the sauce they just served or even surpassing. Bro, there is no wonders money can't perform 😩, but it will be so bad if they are doing this mainly for monetary reward rather than creative and artistic reward. They should find a balance between both. They spent years developing S1, this S2 is most likely going to be developed quickly to strike whilst the iron is still hot and it leaves little room for a proper creative direction. Like it most likely going to be real life events as i explained to geezyk. We have to wait it out and see. Reminds me of "Money Heist", it original channel it aired, billed it as a 2 season event, they Netflix bought it and started remixing things and unnecessarily elongating and it become bland, the dip in quality between S1S2 and the other seasons it's so wild, the writing took a tumble and it just turned into a glorified Telenovela. I haven't even seen the final season and i don't even care. 1 Like 1 Share |
TV/Movies / Re: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by oyaskii(m): 8:05am On May 11 |
geezyk:The backstory before the death of Taiko, is highly unlikely imo, since it most likely takes out the Anjin's timeline, and with the show already losing two key characters in Mariko and Yabushige, there best bet, is to continue with the characters they have now, and just move forward with the story and since the source material is done, they might just draw from the real life events. Tokugawa Ieyasu who is depicted as Toranaga and the Anjin became close friends after the Battle of Sekigahara, and Tokugawa Ieyasu ruled as Shōgun and the Anjin became his ally in trading with the Europeans, Taikō son came of age and assumed Lordship over Osaka, and even laid claim to the Shogunate in real life, so these are the stories that i feel, they will explore in S2. It may seem like they are clutching at straws, but since the beginning of time, there have never been a big motivator like money!. |
TV/Movies / Re: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by oyaskii(m): 11:25pm On May 10 |
abduleez1:interesting read. FX pulled this same gimmick with "The Bear" last year, pushing it to comedy cate at the Emmys, instead of drama cate, potentially avoiding a head on collision with HBO's giant, Succession, that was having it's final season and was a sure Emmy win magnet, and it paid off big with "The Bear" clearing about 8 Emmys in the comedy cate, even though, in actual fact, it is like 95% melo dramatic with serious undertone and even if there was humour it was very subtle. Now again, they face the same dilemma again this year with "Shōgun", which was clearly intended to be a limited one off season affair, but with Netflix pulling off "Baby Reindeer", in the last couple of weeks, the limites series category is looking like a fierce dog fight, as I can't even lie, "Baby Reindeer" is a ridiculously good show and the subject matter is an award magnet 🧲, and the awards available for the limites series category are not that much compared to that of Drama category. So FX, throwing Shōgun into the drama category ring, means it has more than enough chance to scoop so many awards, as i think its the best show, all things considered so far this year, if for anything, it's the best drama show out this year so far. Then, there are 2 curveballs associated with this move, the first been it's a foreign language show, but perhaps the biggest curveball imo, is that throwing Shōgun into the drama category, means it has lost it's limited series tag, and FX hands have been forced and are now open to making a further season, completely outside the source material which they have exhausted. Fillers is that, they have already gotten Hiroyuki Sanada (Lord Toranaga) to sign on, and i can't blame bro for signing, it's a guaranteed massive payday, but i don't even know how a season 2 would look like, i have tried to envision it, and it always comes up sour but if there is one network i trust is FX but this is gonna be thier biggest task yet. If the S2 is officially greenlit, they have the chance to etch it as one of the best shows ever with a good S2 that is plausible or completely ruin the legacy of S1. The S8 of GOT is stil fresh, and universally accepted of how terrible it was, and it did almost ruin the legacy of the entire show, but the saving grace of that, was that it had 5 or 6 really really good season to ride on, but Shōgun doesn't have such luxury, it's go big or go bust for it, i am afraid. 1 Like 1 Share |

Illusioneffect:It is about moving with the times bro. Physical media holds almost no essential value over digital media other than nostalgia. Digital media is portable and can be accessed anytime, doesn't take up physical space and doesn't degrade over time. Physical media used to also have better picture quality and sound quality compared to Digital media when they were just starting out. 4K Ultra HD and DTS used to be a Blu-ray disc thing, but most VOD services now, have their contents up to 4K res now with 6.1CH Dolby Atmos sound. Get a 4K Netflix plan and pair with a solid sound bar, and see "Underground" (2019), the experience is so immersive and all the action looks like it's happening around you...a true cinematic experience right inside your living room without need for a physical media. Besides how many true "classics" are out these days that deserves owning a physical media of it? Oppenheimer is the only one i can think of. Physical media won't phase out, but it gonna be less and less of a thing as the time goes by. COVID lockdown opened people's eyes to how going digital is probably the way forward cuz when people couldn't go out to buy physical media, they relied heavily on digital media, and i think it stuck with people, and apart from media, it spread to other sectors, People now knew that you could be a customer care from the comfort of your room for a company that is continents away. |
