Travel / Re: Migrating To U.K, I Need Your Advise. by Oyehomie(m): 12:49am On Mar 24, 2023

Please i need an honest advise from experienced Nairalanders especially those residing in united kingdom. First i need to briefly introduce myself. I have a B.tech in Mechanical Engineering but has been working as a Maths and physics teacher in a private school in lagos. I also have a certificate of proficiency in computer repair and maintenance and autocad. My proficiency in autocad aided by my background in Engineering has also helped me to work occasionally as a site supervisor on building construction. I have a wife who is a matron in a public hospital. She has just got a job in U.K. and we all need to migrate but she has to be there first and work for 3-4 months so as to prepare the ground for us to join her. My questions now are:
1. What is the job prospect for me in uk based on my own qualification and experience?
2. Is there anything i need to do here before leaving in order to enhance my chance of getting a better job there?
3. What are the mistakes peculiar to new comers that we need avoid making.

Thanks.

Well done bro.... so how well have you done now In your shoe right now o....saw your comments while searching for answers in here.... I'm equally a Mechanical Engineer I've supervised lot of Building constructions and Mechanical works relating to Oil&Gas servicing companies.... Going to UK through my wife but Scare of getting good jobs over there. Please enlighten me as you must have seen light already

Check that you have transferred the funds from your Dom account into your Debit/ Credit card account. If you have not, you have to do that in order to gain access your funds. Also make sure you effect the transfer before 12noon I think so that it can reflect same day.
Your head dey there bro... this was what I didn't do. I be novice, thought it should work directly like that with my dom account. Thanks bro

Did you inform the bank before you traveled they may have blocked it from foreign ATM transactions for your account safety. Contact your account officer

I never knew I ought to contact my bank before traveling though. Thanks

God bless them all, I know a huge number of them. The ones I know are indeed angels in human form. They are gentle, caring, self driven, loving, faithful, hardworking and lot more. Me privileged to be married to one of them [RN]. The ones I know are the inverse of what I'm reading in here. I celebrate every responsible and dedicated professional Nurse out there. Most especially, my wife. Well done...

Lol

A lot of what was protrayed in that movie is not foreign. It might be foreign to you, but not so much for the incredibly wealthy.

It was literally only one detective with a foreign accent and there was a back story to that. The other officers were not forming anything.

Ain't expecting anything less...@the_response... I'm done arguing.
TV/Movies / Re: Blood Sisters: Ratings And Review (Nigerian Movie On Netflix) by Oyehomie(m): 3:04pm On May 07, 2022
Lol... I don't grab all the hype this movie is getting. This to me is just like any other Nollywood. The acts are foreign and not Nigeria at all, so one can easily tell they are faking it. Kung-fu, Noah playing bodyguard..Detectives formingforeign..the camera guy that suddenly woke up and his car won't start...abeg... If it is not it, it can only be like it. Nollywood going foreign can only be like the foreign. To me, it's still a f**k up... I watched the movie because my wife wouldn't let me rest.

Totally different...Please check what you wrote...past state
Education / Re: Have You Ever Forgotten The Spelling Of A Word In An Exam, What Was The Word? by Oyehomie(m): 9:34am On Feb 10, 2022
Berryli:
you are supposed to use "been" in this instance. While "being"shows a state being or existence. E.g I was being candid but he got upset. (Use been when referring to past state)

Wrong....
Use 'been' with Anomalous verbs (i.e. has, have and had)
He has been
We have been
He had been
Use 'being' with linking verbs (i.e. is, were, was, are, am)
He is being
We were being
They are being
J was being
I am being

It's simple

'Been' is PAST PARTICIPLE of 'be'
'Being' is a gerund form of 'be'.

Mine was "OUR"... It was in an essay writing back then in secondary school.... I was there for more than 10minutes... I kept writing rubbish. Awa, hawa, and so on.... I had to call on the teacher supervising to help me out, because we weren't allowed to talk to other students during exams. The teacher laughed at me though, but she later helped me out... That, and so was "YOU"
