Lagos state police have arrested one Ifeanyi Owoh,for attempting to steal from a businessman who was in the state on a visit.

A statement from the state police command spokesperson, Chike Oti, says on Tuesday January 22nd at about 15.30hrs, along Billings way, Oregun, Lagos, policemen who were on a motorbike on street patrol duty, sighted two men. Then approached the men for routine check, but rather than subject themselves to security scrutiny, they took to their heels.

The police riders chased after the fleeing men and arrested one of them.

During a brief interrogation, Owoh narrated that their mission in the industrial estate was to rob a business man who they learnt was in town for a transaction with a notable automobile company in the area.

When searched, one locally made pistol, three live cartridges and a dagger were recovered from him.

The police says efforts are on to arrest his fleeing accomplice while apprehended suspect would be charged to court soon.

Zambia Policemen have arrested a slay queen and businesswoman after fetish items believed to be used for rituals were found in her house.

The single mother of one identified as Bridget Banda, shocked police officers who discovered the items at her residence in Kabulonga area of Lusaka, Zambia.

It was learnt that the suspect was arrested after her housemaid reported her to police suspecting she’s a ritualist.

The housemaid, Mary Mulembe, allegedly overheard her boss in the room talking on the phone while planning to sacrifice her life and a fellow worker at her home in Kabulonga.

The maid ran away from work and decided to report her boss to the nearest police station

Officers later followed up the issue yesterday morning and got the woman arrested.

Reports have it that she has so far not talked to anyone or answered any question as she claims she’s waiting for her lawyer from Italy.

Operatives of the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team, IRT, have recovered 13 buildings, 10 cars, two tippers, a trailer truck and three AK-47 rifles from a notorious kidnapper, Collins Ezenwa, who is popularly known as E-Money.

It was gathered that E-Money, a dismissed policeman that had been terrorising Imo, Abia, Enugu and Rivers states, was killed during a gunfight with the Police from Imo State Police Command in Owerri last year, where he had gone to kidnap a businessman.

He was said to have acquired several property with proceeds from his exploits in kidnapping and robbery in the South-East and South-South states .

Police sources disclosed that E-Money, who coordinated several kidnapping and robbery gangs in Imo State and environs, met his Waterloo after he kidnapped a South Africa-based businessman.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said that the ongoing industrial dispute will continue except certain acceptable conditions are met.

It said to end the strike, the Federal Government must urgently release additional N50 billion to the N20 billion released earlier for revitalisation fund, show evidence of mainstreaming the Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) into the 2019 budget and evidence of the payment of shortfall in salaries.

President of ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, in an interview with The Guardian yesterday, said the union rejected the latest proposal of the government after due consultations with members, pointing out that government’s offer was meagre.

He added that the association’s reservations would be communicated to the Federal Government today at the inauguration of the platform for addressing matters relating to state universities.

Ogunyemi said: “The last time we met with representatives of government, they gave us their proposal and we said we will present it to our members and their reactions to the items of the proposal will be sent back to them within a week. And now, we are almost through with the consultation and we will communicate areas of disagreement to them today.

They are basically two or three major areas; one is on the revitalisation fund. We presented to them that government owed an outstanding balance of N1.1 trillion in five tranches. But what government eventually proposed is something that is far-fetched. They were talking about N20 billion that will be released in two tranches starting from next quarter, and we felt that will not address the issue at hand. Though they said that they released N20 billion earlier, the N20 billion was to be released in 2017, if they released it in November 2018, it is not the same thing.

Out of the N20 billion that the government released earlier, we have outstanding N200 billion. So, if government can release N50 billion in addition to the N20 billion released earlier; and the remaining N150 billion can be released on quarterly basis within this year, N50 billion each for the remaining three quarters, then it will show a sign of commitment.”

Additionally, the group demanded that for EAA and shortfall in salaries, government should provide evidence of its promises and give specific information and guidelines to its proposals.

Although government has shown us a paper authorising the release of N15.89 billion to universities, but universities have not confirmed receipt. As far as ASUU is concerned, it is an issue of ‘once bitten, twice shy,” he further stated.

Edo State Police Command, has arrested a 35-year-old man, simply identified as Uwaila, for shooting his wife and two sons dead.

According to Punch Metro, the incident happened on Sunday at Ovbiogie village in the Ovia North-East Local Government Area of the state.

APC’s governorship candidate in Kwara, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak had to be escorted away from a rally in Ilorin on Sunday after suspected political thugs fired bullets into the crowd leaving at least two persons seriously injured while vehicles damaged as thousands fled the scene.

The Nigerian Police Force confirmed the attack in a statement by spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, affirming that the thugs went on the rampage in Ilorin, Kwara and disrupted a rally being held by the All Progressives Congress.

“As we speak, the situation report from Kwara State Police Command was that the APC holding a Governorship campaign rally at Agbaji in Ilorin came under a sudden attack by suspected PDP thugs, who disrupted the rally, damaged five vehicles and some Keke Napep and wounded two innocent people”, police spokesman Jimoh Moshood said.

The Nigerian man who lives Queensland, Australia, reportedly posed as a U.S soldier and initiated a romantic relationship with a woman who sent him $370,000. Kelechi who was accused of asking his victim to send him another $170,000, appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday after he was arrested at his Durack home on Thursday.

The Nigerian man who has been in Australia for two years and lives in a rented apartment in Durak with his partner, a permanent citizen, since entering the country, allegedly received the money over the course of three months from the 34-year-old Brisbane woman, who later contacted police and sparked the investigation.

A close aide of the union leader, who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity on Thursday, said MC Oluomo would travel any time soon as plans had been concluded for his treatment by a specialist in the United States where he is a citizen.

This is just as our correspondent gathered that no fewer than three police vans were keeping guard at the hospital – Eko Hospital – where the patient is being treated.Politicians of different calibre were said to have visited the hospital, as security operatives screen everyone going in to see him.

MC Oluomo was among the people injured at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress campaign at the Sky Power Ground, Ikeja, on Tuesday.

A source at the hospital said, “Top politicians have been coming to see him. The level of security is high. Three police vans are here.”

The Chairman of the NURTW in Lagos state, Tajudeen Agbede, could not be reached as his mobile phone was switched off.

The spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, Chike Oti, said, “A total 16 suspects have now been arrested in connection with the clash. The police are not aware of any treatment abroad; such is a private arrangement. It has nothing to do with us.”

Ahead of the 2019 election, the Nigeria Immigration Service has recovered not less than 700 voter cards from foreigners.

The disclosure was made by the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Muhammad Babandede while speaking at the 2018 NIS awards presentation in Abuja on Friday night.

He explained that the agency had improved on its capacity to further secure the borders ahead of the 2019 elections.

He said, “We have built the capacity of personnel and improved on structures and contributed to Nigeria’s security and prosperity in many ways.

“This year, we have retrieved over 700 voter cards from non-Nigerians. We will be there during elections to ensure that non-Nigerians don’t participate; We will make sure that they don’t vote and they are not voted for.”

The CG pointed out that the N7.1 billion technology building under construction would impact on the operation and data management of the NIS.

“The approval of the technology building worth N7.1 billion by President Muhammadu Buhari will serve law enforcement agencies where we will share such information online with partners,” he said.

Babandede explained that the awards to deserving NIS officers were meant to encourage and motivate them to work harder and deliver on the mandate of the service

Senator representing Delta Central, Ovie Omo-Agege, said the ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance forbids President Muhammadu Buhari from signing the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill.

The All Progressives Congress lawmaker gave this insight in a phone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Friday night.

Article 2 of the protocol forbids member countries from making “substantial modification” to their electoral laws less than six months to elections “except with the consent of a majority of political actors”.

Omo-Agege, who is a staunch supporter of the President, noted that with the elections less than three months away, signing the bill would violate the ECOWAS instrument.

NAN reports that the presidential and National Assembly elections are slated for Feb. 16, 2019, while those of governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will hold on March 2.

Omo-Agege said, “I have yet to see the president’s letter to the Senate, but this bill means so much to Mr President. On a good day, he would want to sign it.

“However, without even seeing the reasons he has advanced so far, I am aware of the challenges posed by the ECOWAS protocol.

“I don’t know if that is part of the reasons he has advanced, but with the bill coming two months or thereabout before the election, assenting to it will breach the protocol.”

NAN reports that Buhari did not mention the ECOWAS instrument as part of his reasons for declining assent to the bill for the fourth time.

The president’s latest decision came in a letter dated Dec. 6, 2018 and addressed to both chambers of the National Assembly.

No fewer than 41 people have been abducted in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna state in two separate attacks. According to reports, the abductions took place in the last 24 hours.

Confirming the abductions, the Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Danladi Idon Duniya, said a Sharon bus and a Golf 3 saloon that were travelling along the Birnin Gwari road were stopped by armed bandits and the 17 passengers were kidnapped.

In a related development, 24 people, mostly traders, who travelling in a commercial bus, were abducted near Labi village along the same route yesterday May 23rd. The victims were on their way to Kano to buy goods.

The NURTW chairman said reports reaching his office, claims that the kidnappers have taken all the 24 abductees into the bush, after forcing them to remove their clothes, while the women among them were forced to remove their veils.

The state police command is yet to react to this development.

The Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Nuhu Gidado, has resigned. In a letter sent to the state governor, Muhammed Abubakar, Mr Gidado explained that his decision was based on his commitment to serve for only a single term as deputy governor of the state.

“Ordinarily, I should have remained up to the end of the tenure, but, with the currently dampened spirit and waning zeal as it relates to my official engagements, my continued stay will not be fair and truthful to you as my brother and leader,” he wrote.

He reminded the governor that during their meeting on April 19th, he had informed him that he was thinking about stepping aside.

Five operatives attached to Special Anti- Robbery Squad, SARS were arrested by the Lagos State Police command over alleged robbery attempt on one Mr Immanuel James, at Ago-Palace way, Okota, a Lagos suburb.

The Lagos State Police Command Spokesman, SP Chike Oti, while confirming the arrest of the policemen on Tuesday said the suspects — two Inspectors and three Sergeants –were SARS operatives attached to Ipakodo.

Oti told newsmen that the men were not operatives from the Federal SARS, Ikeja Unit as reported.

He, however, said that one Insp. Jude Akhoyemta, who was earlier mentioned in the matter among suspects, was found to be innocent.

“In line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, the Command hereby informs the general public that further enquiry into the allegation of harassment of one Immanuel James Ibe-Anyanwu by SARS operatives at Ago-Palace way, Okota revealed the true identity of officers involved in the highly regrettable incident.

“Those involved are currently undergoing interrogation at the Command’s X-Squad Section and would be marched before an Adjudicating Officer at the Police Provost Department for the commencement of their orderly room trial,” Oti said.

A suspected notorious kidnapper, Muritala Umaru, who was paraded by the Edo State Police Command, has confessed to have made over N100 million from kidnapping.

Among the exhibits seized from the suspect was an AK47 rifle with breech number KO340119 and 10 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. He was said to have been responsible for kidnapping in parts of Edo and neighbouring states.

Umaru said he became a kidnapper four years ago in Okenne, Kogi State and had participated in several kidnapping across Edo State. He said he had cattle, adding that his gang had 10 AK47 rifles with which they carried out kidnapping. .

He said it was somebody he described as a ‘Chief’ from an Edo community who gave them identities of their victims. The kidnapper said they realised N10 million from one of their victims.

The Transport Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has, among other directives, ordered every taxi operating within Abuja to fit in air conditions, in their cabs, latest October, 2018.

The Transportation regulatory agency also released more guidelines for passenger service (commercial) vehicles, operating within the FCT.
Kayode Opeifa, the Transport Secretary of FCTA, stated this in Abuja on Monday after a meeting with all the Licensed Taxi Operators.

According to him, all passenger service (commercial) vehicles such as High Capacity Buses, Mini/Mid Buses, Taxis, Tricycles and Motorcycles must carry red number plates.

“All passenger service (commercial) vehicles must be registered in Abuja and must carry FCT number plate with effect from Oct. 1, 2018. All Taxis operating within the FCT must be air-conditioned on or before Oct. 1, 2018. All passenger service (commercial) vehicles must carry two (2) valid certificate of road-worthiness from FCT Computerised Roadworthy Test Centre issued in the last 9 months,’’ he said.

A professor of management and accounting at the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife has been implicated in an alleged sex-for-mark scandal involving one of his female students who failed his course.

The professor identified as Richard Akindele, who is also a pastor of a popular Campus church on OAU, was recorded in a conversation with the student

The leaked audio found its ways into the internet and it has since gone viral.

Several students and staff identified the male voice as that of Akindele. It was also gathered that the lady is a final year student, who failed a course taught by Akindele. Several efforts to get the lecturer’s reaction were unsuccessful on Monday.

A senior academic staff in the accounting department, who volunteered to speak, revealed that Akindele was “caught three years ago” for engaging in the sex-for-mark practice.

The leaked conversation suggests the student had refused the lecturer’s initial sex demand to upgrade her. .It appeared, in the audio, that the student deliberately called the lecturer again, to play along, record him and have hard evidence against him.

The accident survivor simply identified as ‎Eneh Ogechi‎ who’s based in Enugu state was involved in a ghastly accident after a truck crashed into the tricycle (Keke Napep) she was in and it was totally crushed but nothing happened to her.

The accident occurred moments after she took a selfie in the tricycle as she came out from the crash in one piece.

Please oooo my people help me thank God for saving me from this Terrible accident I don’t know what and where I would have been by now but here I am typing with my own hands I can’t thank you enough father for your mercies and love I thank you.

A women who lives in Lagos has has accused her husband for mercilessly beating and abusing her after she prompted him about drinking liquor.

As indicated by the woman, after she advised her husband who takes drugs to control his high blood pressure to stop taking alcohol for his own health, the man allegedly descended by beating and maltreating her.

The woman also claimed this is not the first time of being beaten in her marriage as she alleged that the husband no longer wants to take care of their child.

The woman who has now fled Lagos, is currently in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state capital and is seeking for justice.

According to reports, the husband drove her away after beating her and the husband sisters have taken over her home and her children. The man was said to have taken his wife to swear an oath that any man that has sex with her will die while doing it.

A troubled man has voiced out after he discovered that his wife does the unimaginable thing to the food she serves him. according to man, his wife, who doesn’t want him to cheat on her, has been cooking his meals with urine.

The man alleged that the wife got a potion from the native doctor which has to be mixed with urine to be more effective.

A relationship expert, Cynthia Valerian Raphaels took to Facebook to share the man’s sad story and wrote:

“Madam good morning treat as urgent please, if possible post it this morning.

My wife has been using juju on me all these while. she left for a wedding yesterday . She was the person that made the cake at the wedding. When I woke up from sleep after she left, my children were all with me on my bed (13,11,. So we all woke up crying for food. I went into the kitchen to get food for them.

In my house, rat has always been my problem because of the gutters near us. So I try as much as I can to be dropping rat poison every night. So inside the kitchen, a rat ran across. I left what I was doing and pursued it, closed my kitchen door so it wont have chance to escape, it first ran under the sink, into the dustbin area and inside the cupboard.
