If my knowledge of Oil & Gas industry is still valid (and definitely 20yrs experience and still counting), I dare say no Oil company, govt, indegenous or IOC can "take over" lands. Land Acquisition through a legal transaction is valid means by which Oil company acquire land for project, even Right-of-way (ROW) for things as little as pipeline projects. I would be interested in this scenario and I can get the details out here in less than 24hrs.

The scenario of someone bringing a cleaner cleaner from SE to do a job in SS is not that clear from your description. I know for example that jobs that are "ceeded" to the local/operating communities are agreed in an MOU with local communities. How a South Easterner be brought to breach a an MOU and the community will not raise hell, beats my imagination.

NPDC headquarters in OKO/Ogba road, Benin city. The construction was being carried out by BNL ltd. The project has been suspended for now due to disagreement between the construction company,BNL and the govt agencies NNPC/NPDC/. no. Being a "Nigerian" is a better qualification. If we are talking about "local content", it means the local population should be given some advantage. NPDC took a large farmlands from indigenes without compensation. Isn't it injustice to give almost all jobs, not even specialised ones, to non-indigenes even when indigenes were willing to work? I witnessed a situation when an somebody brought a relative from south-east to become a cleaner, a job an indigene could have done.

I once worked on a federal govt project in Benin city, NPDC project to be precise. Non-indigenes/non-south-southerners made up over 80% of the workforce even when the indigenes were willing to work. They still allowed the project to go on but when it happens in other regions, all hell is let lose. Igbos won't allow non-indigenes, hausas/fulanis won't and yorubas won't also. But south-south will be assumed to belong to everybody, same way oil is treated. We must learn to use the same measure for everybody. What u don't allow for yourself,don't use for others.

Don't be penny-wise and pound-foolish. Whatever sacrifice to make to enable the project's completion should be made. Don't lose on the altar of selfishness.

I’m not an engineer so I don’t know much about road construction. With what I saw in the picture however, it very likely the Germans are constructing a cement road. This kind of road also exist in Nigeria. The Lokoja-Kabba road that is nearing completion was done exactly like this.

Asphalt road is what is more popular in Nigeria due to cost I think. I don’t think asphalt roads needs this kind of iron reinforcement.

the cost of concrete road is more than twice that of tar but it last more than twice the lifespan of asphalt roads. Flood doesn't also affect concrete roads unlike asphalt. The more the flood, the stronger the concrete road becomes.

We have the resources but unfortunately, leadership and followership have always failed us. I added followership because a bad followership will beget a bad leadership. Every bad leader was once a bad follower.
