Jobs/Vacancies › Re: I Just Secured My First Tech Job. I'm So Happy. by ozo13(m): 12:55pm On Feb 08, 2024 |
chinasaekpere: I graduated from the University 12 years ago. Since then I have been jumping from one job to another with no progress in sight. I discovered that I have been stagnant for Years, so I decided to learn a skill.
I started by learning how to make footwear, I learnt that for a year but I later discovered that it's not what I want to do, although I can make every type of footwear even boots. Last year I took an online course in frontend web development, for 6 months I studied for an average of more than10 hours daily learning from HTML and now React.js. I learnt figma, scss, CSS, Version control, jquery, bootstrap, Chakra UI and react.js, it was a tough one because I had to forfeit other means of making money. I got hungry so many times, I used my last card to buy data so I can keep studying and doing my projects.
Earlier this month, I finished by portfolio project, I had already worked on 4 projects using react, Jquery, Chakra UI and bootstrap. I designed coupled of web pages using figma.
Earlier this month, my girlfriend who's a data analyst sent me a link for a front-end developer role. In my mind, I didn't feel like I was ripe enough so I didn't apply. 2 days later, I decided to give it a try and so I applied. I was called to come for interview this Monday.
On getting there, the company was working on this revenue web app project they are doing to for a particular state government. I was asked to develop the UI of one of the pages using react, CSS and Tailwind. I have heard of Tailwind before but I have never used it. I told the interviewer that I have never used tailwind and that I'm proficient using bootstrap. He replied that I should go through tailwind documentation and then use it to style the page on top of react.
So I started reading the documentation, I discovered that it's syntax is somehow similar to Chakra UI which I have used once in my project, the are the same concept of class utility. So I decided to start coding, getting snippets from the documentation and then applying my Chakra UI knowledge to work around it.
To cut the long story short, I coded from 9am in the morning and delivered the page by 5pm.
I was sent an appointment letter today. So my tech journey officially started. It's a junior role though but I'm glad I broke the ice.
The salary is what I have never earned in a month since I was born. 😊 nice once |

Now you will have to add everything together, which will likely increase your price of goods, who then is to blame for it I think we need a national reorientation to speak to ourselves because what I see is like a nation against itself development |

Government should follow up on the agreement with them setting up a battery manufacturing plant in proximity to this processing/extracting plant this where the problems always arise. How will they always allow mining taking place without any finished product from it.We just have terrible leaders who are just after their pockets.Nigeria just claiming giant for noting.we hv got this population for God's sake.we prefer to import everything there by making all this companies and countries look down on us when it comes to setting up a factory in the country.I don't think there is any tyre manufacturing company in the country and we got several millions of cars in our road.one can go on and on with the list |

Curious345: Nigerians must not allow these bunch of corrupt freaks destroy our dear nation .
Buhari ministers and hirelings literally stole Nigeria's money so blindly and badly that we became bankrupt . Buhari was complicit in all their actions and he deliberately appointed armed robbers into sensitive positions in Nigeria; with the sole aim of looting and redirecting national wealth to his Fulani tribe and immediate family members. Most of them his relatives and member of his own tribe and religion .
These criminals looted IMF LOANS ,, FOREIGN GRANTS AND CHARITIES , THEY re-LOOTED RECOVERED LOOTS , they PRINTED MONEY AT THE CBN AND LOOTED IT , THEY USED MAGICAL PROCEDURES TO BUY STATE ASSETS INCLUDING BANKS AND A MOBILE TELECOM COMPANY ...
These dangerous criminal cabal are trying to use destabilising tactics to harmstring the current government of bola Ahmed Tinubu ,distracting him from the main business of the day and making it impossible to probe them .
Their actions are tantamount to state sponsor of terrorism and the president must be resolute and proactive enough to have them arrested and prosecuted immediately .. so you expect us to keep calm and enjoy the hunger when the person to prosecute them isn't saying anything. So we should enjoy the hunger just so he secure his second term ticket. This one go dey difficult ooo. |

Subsidy removal was a bad policy
Floating our currency was bad policy.
Policy is what drives a nation forward or backwards I like the way you are bn civil about the discussion and ur line of thought.Election has come and gone and I see people still insulting each other wouldn't change the outcome. Now is the time, we unite to help the country instead of insults. If we are not united and we are still insulting ourselves about political class who don't give a damn about the welfare of the citizens.most if not all the political class are enjoying where are the poor mass which cut across all the political divides, ethnicity and religion are the one suffering |

ivolt: If you think there is a "right thing". Then you have no idea what is going on. Either Nigeria earns more dollar than it needs, or the Naira continues to fall. Just like banning abokifx, you will see insignificant gains for a few days, then the dollar rebounds again. u know alot of micro causes need to be addressed.i don't think this things are allowed.i learnt in south Africa you even need ur banks clearance before having access to dollars but over here, anything goes.until the micro causes are address along side those caused by politician.we will be moving in circles

CharleyBright: American University of Nigeria, Wigwe University of Nigeria and all other business and Stores that are transacting businesses in dollars should be made to stop immediately. They are part of the problem why the Naira is sliding against the dollars.. These businesses should be closed down outrightly if the fail to comply. No more time for rubbish again. we can now say a country against itself.why should entities in Nigeria be demanding for dollars transaction within the country and you have Nigerian citizens there not saying anything. When this naira free fall choke everyone, we will do the right thing by force. |
