Hawttattoo: Please when did you buy the Pta? Went yesterday to diamond bank and learnt that they had stopped selling Pta as directed by Cbn. Am seriously looking for dollars as black market is not smiling at all. Please fill me in Biko Dis Is serious. Maybe we should start looking at opening domicillary account for those of us that still have time before travelling. The last time I wanted to traveled to US, I went to FCMB and was given only $1k cash and $4k was transferred into my dollar account cos I ve already collected $4k cash from diamond bank. And with this, you won't bother about conversion or rate. |

tobzquest: I had exactly the same issue. I tried both GTB and ACCESS bank cards. A friend did the same. All she said was she it only accepts credit cards, mind you I have purchased money orders in the past with this same debit cards. I think its the $300 cap that was the issue though ehe, someone else have confirmed this, I know what I heard, that they collect only credit card. Anyway, will still try again when next I go there |

mimikoko: Please, please, please for those whose husband's were not in the US for their baby's delivery, did you need a notarised consent letter to apply for Nigerian visa? If yes is there a foRm for it like the one they have for the US passport or is it an original letter that is notarised?
Please I need the information urgently. God bless you. Yes, just an ordinary hand written or typed letter that will be addressed to the Nigerian embassy. You and your husband have to sign the letter. If you are using Eddy, he will give you sample of the letter then you can just edit it and both you and hubby will sign. |

domrita: Hi people got into houston on sunday .thank god for every thg. Pls I have a pressing problem am to use dr glen morgan but the problem is d place (north west houston) is sooooo far from where am staying southeast (77061)houston more than an hrs drive n cabfare abt 110usd for just going.wat do I do esp considering labour startn at night and also considering the flood that affectd that area of houston. The good thg is I haven't paid n cos of the flood I can't get thru to confirm my appt for tomoro.pls my pple do u have any suggestatns of how to overcome this transportatn problem or other ffordable obgyn nearer here? I will advise you start looking for another doctor and hospital asap cos that distance you mentioned ain't joke and about $200 wch is about #40,000 naira plus for one hospital visit is something else. Imagine you will be visiting your doctor on weekly basis till you deliver which will be up to 4-5 times including going to hospital to deliver and returning back home. Do the maths. This is only for doctor and hospital visit. You ve actually not transported yourself to shopping mall, downtown, post office, etal. I know your doctor and hospital price is quite Ok, I ve also contacted him and other doctors too but will do the whole maths and settle for the cost effective one. You can also check if der are buses going that route so you can use the buses for your appointment. |

slimmy05: you don't need to withdraw, go to Walmart or Kroger and buy money order, swipe your card for the amount, maximum per money order is $1k I guess, you'll only be charged 79cent. Go to any bank and claim the money or deposit straight to your bank. You can always swipe when making payments the last tym I wanted to buy money order from Walmart using my Fcmb debit Mastercard, dey told me they accept only credit card. I had to use cash to buy the money order. What type of card did U use to purchase the money order. Any body with experience shud answer. |

Lol, have been reading all comments and laughing out loud. I use everything starting from baby crib from day one we got bk to naija up till now (1yr and 3 months baby) and she will keep sleeping there till another baby overtake her. My second baby actually fell off from our bed cos we do keep him at d end of d bed and block him with pillows cos hubby will not allow him to sleep in between us lol, I had to run to a big store to buy the wooden crib dat same day he fell and it has never been ideal since den. Der is no need buying dat heavy duty crib in US, der are fine and very very affordable ones here. Instead use dat moni to buy formula, clothes up to 2yrs depending on when you plan to travel again and other important things. And for the baby stroller, we stroll a lot in the estate and we use it to push baby inside d compound too, lol. u can also use it inside big supermarket while shopping. For the car seat, if U are always on d go, U can't do without the car seat. I drive my baby to work daily and d car seat is a must. The crib sb posted up der is really nice and U can get it at a very good price here. |

oluwafunkenny: Hello house,
It's been a while, waiting for arrival of my precious. Just to drop some comments for those that it might be useful for.
2. For Houston bound mothers checking means of transportation, check Google maps to see if your accomodation is within metro bus area. My apartment has metro bus stop in its front and have been plying that for all my prenatal, shopping and tourism. With the metro card of single swipe-$1.25 you are entitled to to-trips of within 3hours. That means you can visit more than one place with the fund depending on how long you are spending there. I have been able to really save money on tfare with this, though it is slow cos of various stops but am not always time bound in my journeys. I have only spent 20$ to transport boxes of diaper, wipes and other loads from mall to shipper.
3. I was able to open BOA account with my intl passport and visa page. A temporary card that is valid for one month was given same day with internet and other things for seemless transaction. I got my permanent card the second week and it's been working.
That is all for now.
Nice day thanks for all the info. I have questions 1) which hospital and doctor are U using? 2) I need info on ur accommodation 3) how did U obtain the metro card or where did U buy it? When I used metro bus, I was paying $2.50 one way. Thanks |

modath: @Ozycy,
I not only second this public service announcement,I "third" it, Fed staff is not your average GH, its a private/public patnership kind of setting so you receive a private hospital care with a marginal price difference from a public health facility.
Its 1k to register, each visit is 1k for PCV and urinalysis, 8k for ANC comprehensive test and on or before 28wks you are required to pay 30k for a VB delivery.
If you don't require a CS(120k) all your care won't get up to 50k
Option B; District Hospital Gwarinpa, closer to you, same facilities as Fed staff, great hospital (my friend's neighbour's barely 7mths baby was delivered and saved by the NICU) but the CROWD is as is usual with GHs.
Registration is N500, routine visits is N200, test can't get to more than 3-4k, VB is 5k and CS is 40k.... Immunisation of the baby is free unlike fed staff that charges. thanks a lot @ Modath. Federal staff is abt 20 mins away from me if not more dats why I was seeking for other options. Infact dats the hospital I ve been using even when I went there while I was having morning sickness. I don't intend to deliver my baby there, I just need to register for antenatal checkup only. Since am required to pay for delivery fee at 28weeks, how do I avoid it since I won't be birthing there. Will they allow me to continue antenatal without the payment. And pls which day of the week do dey register new people for antenatal? Thanks a lot |
