jackyraw09: Good morning my NL Fam and wishing you guys a wonderful sunday ahead. I've always contemplated the idea of becoming a digital nomad (so that i can work remotely) and it seems the time is now.
I picked up my Passport last month and now i've decided to start by going to relax and work in greece for a whole month (march -> april) - According to my intended local guide, the country is very cold at the moment but the weather will be more friendly by march so yeah, lets wait.
I proceeded to the embassy website, read through the requirements of obtaining a tourist VISA. I just need to keep this thread as a journal while i go through the process.
I could see the requirements differ depending of whether you are a nigerian national or you are an expatriate who is just applying via greek embassy in nigeria.
for the sake of brevity, i will only outline the requirements pertaining to the nigerian nationals:
1. Original certificate of employment of the last three years and employment letter stating the days of leave. -- This is a tough one i work online as a freelancer coder and also manage a plantation/farm so basically i have no employer
2. Salary slips of the last three years -- No one pays me salaries. for the online job, i get paid via paypal, for the farm, well there is no fixed salary structure for me atleast.
3. Bank statement and balance of account over last three years - Certified at least from one Official and from the Head of the Bank (name, surname, rank, signature and bank’s seal). -- Are these people for real shocked This is not a problem but i can only imagine how big the heap of documents will be
4. Hotel reservation – letter (in Greek) by faxing from the hotel with the evidence of the Guest (name, surname, and the number of the passport) for the whole duration of the intended stay, and the price of booking – Certified from the Manager of the hotel (name, surname, signature and the hotel’s seal). -- Pretty straightforward but i have a question - since i will be spending a month and don't intend staying in a single city throughout my stay, can i just submit a reservation covering my first 1 week? I also read that the hotels cancel the reservation if you do not pay within 24hrs. Is this true?
5. Copy of flight ticket or flight reservation including return flight. smiley
6. Travel insurance – Certified at least from one official and from the Head of the insurance company (name, surname, rank, signature and Company’s seal) -- where can i get this please?
thank you for going through the stress of reading this. I will appreciate if experience tourists can make make the clarifications (100s of them on this forum)
CC Justwise have you gotten the visa? I want to apply for Greece visa. I'm seeing police character report. Hian |

AnaegbuAchara: I’m currently pregnant in Lagos. I am a USA citizen but my fiancé is not. Our wedding is scheduled in December but I am due to give birth in August.. and I would like to give birth in the USA... I want him to be there.. what is the best solution for me? What documents should we bring? Will I follow him to the interview? We are not married yet, how would that work as for applying for the visa with me? Just a little background information, i relocated to Lagos a year ago now but my mom and siblings are still based there. I also have medical insurance there already which I plan to use for my child delivery rather than paying out of pocket. Please let me how I should go about things giving my situation. I only have 4-5 months until my delivery date. Please help!! He should go and try normal B1/B2 visa. He should explain why he's applying for visa, he should demonstrate his ties too cos I doubt if the VO will consider anything about you or your pregnancy cos anyone can claim anything. 1 Like |

Iyayoyo: thanks the reason we planned to send it through Dhl is because we didn’t know she ll be pregnant before her appointment date so we filled in for visitation now that she is pregnant that’s why we are changing it to birthing. So kindly share experience if she need to fill in another Dd-160 and take it along with her for her interview or mail the letter from sponsor and other document. Her boss who is also her uncle a honourable member at the National Assembly will be the sponsor Fill another form, call the embassy customer service line to switch your forms, they will do it right away and send yiu a mail with the new confirmation. you print out your new appointment confirmation with the new ds160 code showing. Your appointment date wont change, Very simple something. 1 Like |

Amaka6934: Good day house, please I need a contact of a doctor that uses Houston Methodist. I'm scheduled for an interview soon and yet to get a drs correspondence. Houston Methodist is closer to where I intend to stay. Thanks Which of the Houston Methodist? I think they said you have to scan copy of visa page, scan and lab before they can refer you to a doctor and you must not be more than 20weeks. I don't know if it's same Methodist hospital we are talking about though |

Isn’t God just wonderful? That was how I packed my burden of proof back. Apparently, if you have a guarantor in the US, a Private insurance can be approved. To everyone who contributed, thank you and I wish you good luck in your endeavor.

vibrant99: You must use your visa when you get one sir!
It violates the whole essence of application.
It is not a Zimbabwe visa, but a must sought after visa, you may get a rejection afterwards if you didn't use it.
hmmmm |

I thought applicants are not allowed to print, scan and upload documents? for family form, if you don't have spouse or children, you have to sign and declare you don't have spouse or children and for that, you have to print, sign and scan as there's no electronic validation for that form. |

No lol those places are the hood with a lot of foreigners without jobs. They hustle there. If you’re coming for vacation, you’ll be fine. A lot of people come to SA for vacation. But beware of the airport environment when you are leaving the airport and don’t stop for nothing. Lol. Thank you, it got me thinking. If someone have to be scared and that careful moving around, is it not better to stay in my hood here. Atleast, it's relatively safe here |

Buy foodstuffs at Jburg south. If you buy at Randburg. Your money will disappear and you won’t know what you spent it on.
Yes, when you get to hillbrow there are signs saying you’re now in a crime hotspot. I'm really worried seeing a lot of not safe, not safe zones mentioned everywhere. Does it mean Nigeria is safer than SA? Let me just vacation in my Nigeria in peace. someone should tell me something abeg |

Lakomsy: Hi Everyone, I am currently applying for visa via online.
Where you have what's the main purpose of visit. I selected others as advise on the group but I can't find where to add additional information which will state vacation and birth tourism.
Secondly, There a question that says do you depend on someone for financial support. I said yes since my husband and I will be Sponsoring the trip. I am the main applicant. I don't know if my answer is right or wrong.
Please assist if you have used the online application.. I think if your hubby has more finance, business or ties, he should be the main applicant so you can add up his documents. If otherwise, you can go ahead and be the main applicant. |

Question is does the embassy open on Saturday? Who has ever visited on a Saturday?
