This government is just borrowing to fund their excesses. A sane government will cut down administrative costs and duplicate roles so that borrowed money will go into strictly capital projects. What's the need for some duplicate agencies? Why can't the presidency slash it's running cost by at least 50%? Why can't the national assembly slash it's cost by 50%? What's the need for minister for states? Why can't the government implement open governance to curb corruption? |

agwaisrael:You are right, however, the green bar is the only way non techies and browsers identify an encrypted and secure connection. Most modern browsers are able to know the level of encryption. If not done properly (cipher strength, protocols, forward secrecy, etc). So when they show a green bar or padlock, it means it mostly a strong encryption. The certificate authority alone doesn't guarantee a green bar. Using your own self signed certificate might give you a strong encryption but it won't be recognized by browsers as you are not a certificate authority. There are many ways to communicate with a baby; everyone has their own style, but certain techniques can help a baby’s development. It’s not just about what a parent says to an infant, but also the way it sounds and how often the communication takes place. BABY TALK Experts have debated whether it’s better to use baby talk on a baby or to speak to it like an adult, but Australian speech and language expert Denis Burnham says baby talk’s “characteristic structure, rhythm and use of emotion” helps language development. “Compared with adult-directed speech, infant-directed speech has more emotion, irrespective of the actual words used,” he writes in The Conversation. “It has a higher pitch and more up-and-down patterns, which attract infants’ attention. It also has more hyper-articulated vowels and consonants, which exaggerate the differences between sounds.” FREQUENCY AND VOLUME Research shows that when it comes to talking to a baby, the more words, the merrier. One famous study found that children from the wealthiest families hear 30 million more words than children from the poorest families by the time they turn 3 years old. That makes a difference in language development, which is related to general success in school and reading skills. BODY LANGUAGE AND VISUAL CUES The National Association for the Education of Young Children also says using gestures and facial expressions can help kids understand new words. “For example, when introducing the word joyful, you might smile and wave your arms about to convey what it means.” Research shows that visual cues help young children digest new vocabulary, and boosts their ability to understand context clues. EYE CONTACT Another silent boost to a baby’s development is eye contact. One study published earlier this year in Current Biology showed that eye contact between a parent and a baby improved the latter’s attention span. Parents can help build a baby’s attention span by coordinating attention during playtime. BabiesMata |

The talk of diversifying the economy has been agog for a long time, while many states are still depending on the federal government for it's funding, some states like Anambra state is making serious inroads in economy diversification. Governor of Anambra state Chief Willy Obiano has disclosed that in January this year, Anambra became the first state in Nigeria to export vegetables (Ugu and Onugbu) valued at $5million to Europe. Chief Willy Obiano seem to understand the value of diversifying the economy and attracting more industries to Anambra state and has been working very hard towards this. Recently He confirmed that his concise Economic Blueprint, made up of The Four Pillars of Development; including Agriculture, Industrialization, Trade and Commerce and Oil and Gas he developed on assumption of office has started yielding dividends. Anambra State Investment Agency, ANSIPPA, charged with the mandate of attracting and fast-tracking investments in the state has so far attracted over $4.2 billion deals to the state. The latest investment according to the governor was sealed on Tuesday last week with Zolt Energy Limited to build a 40 megawatts Embedded Power Generating Plant in Ogbaru. When completed in the next 18 months as scheduled, all the power generated from it will be distributed mainly in Anambra State. This post is part of post on NairaBrains: How Anambra Attracted over $1 billion dollars Investment in Agricultural Sector |
Post was culled from BabiesMata.com Researchers have revealed that babies who are breast-fed until the age of six months are better behaved as children. Experts monitored the behaviour of 1,500 children aged between seven and 11. They found those who had only been breastfed for the first month of their life, or less, were twice as likely to display behavioural problems than those who were breastfed until six months. The research, led by Glasgow University experts and carried out among children in South Africa, suggests breastfeeding has benefits that extend beyond physical health. Experts advise that babies are fed with breast milk for at least six months, where possible, as this helps the baby develop stronger immune system, improved digestive system, and lower risk of certain forms of cancer. Other benefits of breastfeeding include IQ, cognitive skills, and behaviour. The NHS suggests women should feed their babies exclusively with breast milk until they are at least six months old, and then continue breastfeeding while gradually introducing other food. Women are advised by the NHS: 'The longer you breastfeed, the longer the protection lasts and the greater the benefits.'UNICEF also warns that child obesity, diabetes and infections could all be significantly reduced if more mothers could be persuaded to breastfeed. This post was culled from BabiesMata Most women know that folic acid is an essential vitamin to take when planning a pregnancy. However, there are a few other less known vitamins and supplements that are also recommended before and during pregnancy. One of these is iodine, particularly if you live in a place where iodine is deficient in the soil, such as in remote inland areas or semi-arid equatorial climates where no marine foods are eaten. However, it is now recommended that all prenatal supplements contain iodine, with the Public Health Committee of the American Thyroid Association (ATA) publishing a statement, in early 2015, reiterating the ATA recommendation that women take a daily multivitamin containing 150 micrograms before and during pregnancy and during lactation.1 Iodine deficiency during pregnancy can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, intellectual impairment, cretinism, maternal and fetal goiter, and neonatal hypothyroidism. Calcium is also an important antenatal vitamin. As well as being necessary for your baby’s developing bones, calcium supplementation has many other benefits, such as preventing preeclampsia and hypertension. Calcium supplementation at a daily dose between 1.5 and 2 grams per day has been shown to reduce the risk of preterm birth. This is also the dose recommended for pregnant women by the World Health Organization. It is important to take vitamin D alongside calcium, as it regulates absorption and metabolism of calcium in your body and your baby’s body. Iron is also essential during pregnancy and the amount of iron that you need increases from 18 milligrams per day to 27 milligrams per day. Anemia caused by iron deficiency during pregnancy can result in a weakened immune system and, consequently, increased risk of infection for the mother. Low birth weight has also been associated with low levels of iron. Omega-3 fatty acids may be worth taking while pregnant. Although the evidence is not as strong as the other vitamins and minerals listed above, there do seem to be some benefits in taking omega-3 fatty acids during pregnancy. Omega-3 fatty acids appear to be important for the developing fetal brain and also for the timing of gestation and birth weight as well. Dietary sources of these essential vitamins and minerals: In addition to making sure that your antenatal supplement contains the above vitamins and minerals, it is also important to eat a diet that provides these nutrients. For example, sources of iodine include iodized salt, seaweed and seafood, dairy products, and eggs.Calcium can be found in milk and other dairy products, breakfast cereals, tofu, and green leafy vegetables such as spinach and broccoli. Foods that contain vitamin D include fatty fish (such as mackerel or salmon) and fish liver oils. Smaller amounts are found in egg yolk, cheese, and beef liver. Food sources of iron include meat, especially liver. Iron from non-meat sources is harder to absorb. However, some plants are good sources of iron, such as whole grain cereals and legumes.Omega-3 fatty acids can be found in fish, vegetable oils, nuts (especially walnuts), flax seeds, flaxseed oil, and leafy vegetables.
