She walked downstairs in her bikini. She had bought this particular bikini just two weeks after her wedding when the pool was installed but she never got the chance to wear it. Cooking and taking care of her husband and business had taken all her time. But not anymore. She would use her time well now. She adjusted the towel on her left shoulder and made for the back door, clutching her iPad in the other hand. She will order for a new phone once she settles down in the pool. Chika was locking it and turned as soon as she heard footsteps. Her jaw dropped as she saw her boss. "Close your mouth Chika and open the door for me.* "Ah! Sorry madam. I couldn't believe my eyes. You look like someone from......" "Chika?" "Sorry madam." She fiddled with the lock and succeeded in opening it. "Tell Mr Michael that I'm in the pool yea? And get me a bottle of my favourite wine with a glass." "Okay madam." Chika watched her walk out the door. This was really a drama house but she was enjoying it. Why? Her boss was already winning the game and her enemy, oh yes, Amara was going down. She gently shut the door and walked into the sitting room. She'd serve the wine and then call Mr Michael. ********** Amara took a turn to her left She was going to the beach. The time said 9pm but she didn't care. She had boarded a taxi which stopped her at the bus stand. She needed the chilly weather of the beach, even if it's for two minutes while she mapped out plan on how to deal with her sister. She settled on a huge rock and breathed in. This was heavenly. "Hi." A voice said clearly, bringing her out from Disney island She opened her eyes and there she was, the woman who had started the problem in the Njama house. Amara stood up and glared at the face of the woman. "Wow. Fancy meeting you again $lut." ************** He was about going downstairs when he saw her retreat to the room she shared with Chika. The loud mouth Chika had informed her of Claire's location in the house and he had smiled, praying they get comfortable in the pool. He walked straight to the room and was glad the door was open. She was seated at the corner of tge room where the dressing table occupied. He locked the door and she looked up, shock and fear registering on her face. "Sir." She quickly stood up "Why didn't you tell me you're pregnant?" He asked calmly "Sir, you were going through so much already and I........" "Planned to keep my baby from me then come back later, claiming damages and compensation huh?" Tears fell from her eyes and she bent her head "I know your kind. No wonder you didn't resist me because you had plans. Cheap girls from the gutters trying to make a living out of a careless gpung man. I'll ........" "Sir I'm not a $lut. We both wanted this. We both consented to it sir so......" Tears ran down as she was interrupted by Chika who came into the room bearing a plate of water melon. "Sorry if I'm interrupting you Sir." Chika said pleasingly He looked them over and turned around, walking out of the room without as much as another word ****** ".............so my sister, accept Christ into your life today and he'll......" "Enough." Amara said, raising her palm. She looked at the face of the girl who had been preaching to her. "You go for evangelism with this borehole? Funny. Guess what? I'm sure my feet straight to my ankle can enter her stupid ¢unt. I'll tell you what this woman did." She told the lady everything not minding who she was. "Okay. My name is Millicent and I've got something to tell you." The lady said calmly, surprising Amara. Good night fellas. Sleep dey my eyes o |
Her phone rang just as she drove in. The caller was Phil. She silenced the phone and parked the car, breathed out and got down. She brought out the little she had bought and proceeded to the entrance when her phone rang again. She was about picking the call when Amara bumped into her, causing the phone and a shopping bag to drop. She stared from her phone to Amara, anger and hatred filling every vein in her body. Amara hissed and made to walk away but Claire wouldn't take that. She grabbed her by the arm and pushed her back. "Pick them up." She ordered. "Why?" Amara scoffed "Because you're slowly getting blind and your husband needs to get you a walking cane to help with your movements.* Amara smiled. "Glad you know he's my husband. You've got hands. Pick your stuffs up." Claire raised a hand and settled it on her younger sister's left cheek, throwing her off balance. "You won't speak to me like that in my own house. You won't. Now, pick those things except you want to get more slaps cause I have more where that came from." In that moment, it was a battle of the eyes. Amara stared with hatred while Claire stared like the boss she was, intimidating her kid sister. "You slapped me? I....." "You'll do nothing you conniving witch. I should have let you die in that fire. I wouldn't have gone years sharing my food with you in that miserable hole called an orphanage. If I'd let you die, you won't be here so shut up and pick my properties." Claire barked angrily. Amara had never seen her in that state before. Her eyes were burning with rage and the best thing was to leave her for now. "This isn't over Claire." "Of course I know cause you've got just four days left to leave my house with that man. Pick up." Amara slowly bent and picked the bag first. Claire grabbed the bag from her, th3n they went through another round of eye locking before Amara bent and picked the very expensive phone whose screen now had patches of broken glass in front. Claire stared at her phone for a while, contemplating on leaving the phone for her sister after taking the sim card. Her thought was cut short when the said phone started ringing. "I'll let this one slide but while you're here, don't make me do something you'll regret." And with that, she snatched the phone, slide the green icon and walked into the house. ******** She stared back at her sister. What money could do. Her sister now wore clothes that had designer signatures stamped on it. Her sister had over ten thousand followeres on Twitter and IG while she barely had up to 4k. Her sister rode cars, travelled places, signed an endorsement and she still had to fork Michael properly before she got money. But all these were not her problem now. Michael was. He had shouted on her. He had thrown a box of pizza at her face and he had said things that she didn't deserve. Was it her fault that the pregnancy was beginning to affect her appetite and choice of food? But she trusted her Michael. She would take a walk and by the time she would be back, he would not be angry anymore. She suspected that living with Claire was taking it's toll on him already. She heaved a sigh and walked out of the house. ********* He was taking his bath when her car drove in. He would wait a while before going to her. He hoped that they talk things out and that hr doesn't mess up like he always does. His soapy hand went to his john Thomas and images of a lady came to his head. His di¢k became hard and he wrapped his hand around it, something he had learnt during his stay with Sarah. Where was she now? He thought? The image of the woman appeared again and he began to move his hands around his shaft. A slow grunt escaped his lips as he imagined this fair Lady wrapping her thin lips around his member. Yuck. He stroked harder as he imagined her suck harder and the waves hit him as he whispered the name of the new woman who would be robbing him of his sleep. CHANTEL. ********* "Phil I don't want to see you please. It's best if you'd stop calling." She stepped into her room and locked the door. "Let's just sit down and discuss this Claire. I promise never to disturb you after this." "Phil. I....." "Please Claire. For the last time. I'll never disturb you again." "Meet me at Sheraton tomorrow at 7. Good night Phil." She dropped the phone and sat on her bed. It had been a long day. He better hurry up with whatever he was doing because she won't be the one to go to him for the supposed discussion. But while she waits, she rather take her bath than think about the incidence with Amara. She stood up. A cool water would calm her nerves. She smiled as a thought came to her head.. It was time to use the pool at the back of the house |
Chai. I'm close to tears as I read your comments which shows love and lots of concern. The truth is, I've not bin around and network is poor in the stupid village I went to. But I'm back now and I pray we finish this work soon. My job lets me travel a lot and I pray I get the chance to finish this story asap. Meanwhile, updates before dinner. I love u all |
romanticnovels:okay. But you've gotta give me my credits hmmm? |
Nice one bae |
Child abuse bad gan. Nice collaboration though. I see lots of lessons to be learnt here for mothers who don't have this bond with their female wards. |
The door bell rang and she stood up to get it. It was a pizza boy. "For Mr Michael Njama." The boy said. "I'll take it." She took the box and went back in to find Chantel sobbing. "Now, you're gonna make me angry if you don't stop now. It's me whose home is going down the drain so just stop it." "But its not fair. People who don't have sisters pray to have one and look what a sister is doing here. I don't just like it.' "Okay. I understand but you're not encouraging me at all. If you're crying for me, what will I do then? Listen, life isn't fair to all of us. I never thought my own sister would do this to me but this is it happening life. I feel bad, trust me, I do but then, God wants me to to add this to my story that is why I'm going through it. Let me send his pizza to him." She stood up only to see him standing few feets away. She wondered how long he's been standing there. "A delivery for you.' She dropped the box and turned to Chantel. " I'll change into something else so we can step out." Chantel nodded and she left the sitting room. ************* He was the wrong one. He had ruined his home with his hands. But he won't give up now. He would make things right and get his wife back. He looked at Chantel and his heart melted. His wife never kept any friend outside her customers. He had stopped her from doing a lot of things and looking back now, he knew he had been selfish. He did more of the hanging out with his own friends while she stayed at home, cooking whatever his heart desired. He had not been fair to Claire but he would make up for it all. ************ Why was he standing there like a lost calf? She hated him now. How can a man so intelligent and handsome be so shameless as to destroy the relationship between sisters? If Claire won't address the issue on social medias, she would do that for her. She picked her phone and quickly logged into her twitter account. "And I was and still here at the Njama house. @mikeNJ, karma would come looking for you for going after your wife's kid sister, getting her pregnant and asking @official_clairejiji for a divorce when she's ready to move mountains for you." She sent the tweet but wasn't satisfied. "The world will judge you when they do not know your story. @official_clairejiji, we only live once. If he had the mind to get into your baby sister's pants, give him the divorce and get remarried ASAP." ************ "Let's go babes." She was dressed in a Jean trouser and white baggy polo. "Where to?" "Anywhere. The mall, hair stylist, anywhere." She picked her car key and brushed past Michral. "Uhm. Claire, I would want us to talk when you come back." "That is nice cause I also have something to tell you." "Okay then. Have fun." "Thank you.' She signaled to Chantel and they left the house. ************ "Here's the pizza you asked for.' He threw it on the dinning table. He had sat down, thinking up different plans on how to approach Claire with an apology when Amara came down, went straight to the kitchen and came back to the dinning with a plate of golden morn. "But I don't want the pizza. Lost my appetite for it." "You're not serious. You can't waste money like thus in my house. Make sure you eat that pizza or better still, look for someone who'll eat it. That money won't waste." He matched upstairs angrily. He was beginning to detest her. Claire's words rang in his head. "My younger sister and my husband's new......." He had never thought over all he was doing. He had thought she wouldn't agree to divorce him. He had wanted to tame her, reduce her movements and get her back to the semi house wife she was but he had gotten the direct opposite of what he planned. Looking back now, he saw that she had endured enough and Amara was only using him as a pawn to get back at Claire for throwing her out of the house. How come he never saw this? |
"We've spent this past few days together and it's enough to prove to me that I'm not making a mistake. I want you in my life Getry, to complete me, to be by my side forever. I want to wake up every morning by your side. Please, marry me." Her face turned to different shades of pink. They just finished breakfast and he had helped her with the dishes. They had settled to watch a movie when he suddenly got on his knees. "I love you so much and I would be the happiest man on earth to have you by my side." He fished out a little box from his back pocket and opened it. There was a silver ring which glistered under the chandelier. He looked at her face for answers but got streams of tears instead. He was about to pull her into his arms when she stretched her left hand, nodding frantically. He slipped the ring into her finger and they embraced each other. "I love you." She whispered. It was the first time she was saying it to him. She was shy and reserved but he loved her so. He kissed her forehead and hugged her again. This was it. He had gotten it all. He picked his phone from the table and sat up beside Gertrude. It was time to send a picture to Claire. ******** She opened her mouth but no word came out. How could she speak such without feeling bad or breaking down? Where did she cook her heart? She looked at Claire again but the woman was busy with her phone and smiling sheepishly. "Nice to meet you Amara." Chantel shook her hand, swallowing a urge to punch her face. "Seriously? Wow!" Claire screamed, looking at the faces of everyone in the room. "Mike, Kelvin just proposed to Gertrude." She said excitedly. "Wow. That's one hell of a news. I'll call him right away." Michael said, excused himself and left the sitting room. "Who's Kelvin?" Chantel asked "He's Michael's best friend and like a brother to me. But that's not the news. The girl in question was my employee. She quit working here just two or three months ago." "Wow." "You see, we had thought he was going to marry Amara here. How was I to know that she had other plans?" Claire shot her sister a look and went back to her phone. "I'm so happy for them. Look how happy they look." She passed the picture to Chantel. "Awww. He's cute." Chantel commented. "Take your eyes off miss. He's taken." They laughed happily. Amara hissed and walked out angrily. The house was cursed, if not, why was the odds against her? Nothing she ever plans works out well. She hated it. *********** This was the best news she'd heard in months. She would upload that picture on Instagram so people would know that her best friend was off bachelorhood. "Babes." She heard Chantel call "Yes?" She dropped the phone and picked her glads of wine "How come you're so relaxed about all these? I'm not comfortable anymore just hearing what you just said but you feel so relaxed. What's happening?" "You also think it's nollywood right? That's what I thought until she came back pregnant. Worst still, he asked for the divorce not me. I can't kill myself when I know that they will be happy after I die. I'm just going to make a diamond out of whatever life throws at me. I'll survive this. Don't stress it." Chantel wiped the tears which were streaming down her face. "But it's not fair." She cried "Life itself is not fair." Claire refilled her glass and downed it all in one gulp. She won't cry, no, she won't. ********** "I'm happy for you man. You owe me a drink." Michael said into the phone. "Surely bro. Thanks." "Anytime. Chief will be super excited." "I informed him even before now. He's talking about children already." They laughed happily. "Congrats bro." "Thanks man." "Let me not distract you guys. Have fun." "Alright." He hung up. His best friend and brother had it all going well for him. Why was his own case different? He heard the door push open and turned to see Amara walk in, looking angry. "Michael, you disappoint me. I don't believe that I ended up with you. You listen to her insults and you did nothing about it." "Because she didn't insult me. Come to think of it, why didn't you tell me there was someone in the house? I went there and disgraced myself in front of a guest. Do you think it's wise for us to be seen together before the divorce? Do you know what people will say about us? No, you don't." He picked his phone and left the room |

"Welcome to my house dear." Claire said, giving Chantel a warm hug. "Wow. Your house is beautiful." Chantel walked in, looking around the house. The sitting room alone spoke volumes of how wealthy the Njamas' were. "Make yourself comfortable please." They sat opposite to each other while Chantel kept on looking around. "Who's your interior decorator?" "Linda Adams. My husband contacted her though." "Wow. This is a mini eden. I'm impressed." "Thanks. What do I offer you?" "Anything hot." Claire chuckled. "Yes, your hotship." They laughed as Claire strode to the bar. She got back with a bottle of vodka and two glasses. "So you've seen the news right?" Chantel asked, pouring the wine into the glasses. "Yea. I have." "And?" Chantel shot her a gist-me look. "Nothing. Like, I'm getting divorced in some days so I'm not bothered." "You're getting divorced?" Chantel asked in shock. "Isn't it obvious?" "I.... I mean, I thought you're just playing around. Seriously." Claire sipped from the glass of hot liquid and breathed out. "I'm getting divorced.' "Then you shouldn't let social media run conclusions on your life. Speak out babe so the world won't judge you. Get an interview done so you can air your own opinion." "My dear, I've never made my life a publicity stunt. Of it had occurred to me that with the jiji deal, my life would be an open book, I wouldn't be seen out with anybody. I prefer a quiet life, trust me." "Welcome to the life honey. All these hungry bloggers looking for traffic would jump at anything." "It's well though. I believe that with time, everything will take shape." *********** She heard voices and she decided to take a peek. She leaned on the rail and was surprised to find her sister with another lady who looked familiar. Time to disgrace someone, she thought with a smile and headed to Michael's room. *********** He was looking through papers, searching for anything that would move favour to his side when the door pushed open and Amara walked into the room. "Don't you think you've stayed in here for long? Let's watch a movie downstairs." "There's a television here and you can get any channel you want from up here so let's do it here." He said, not looking up to her. "Can't you make me happy today Mike? You're not been fair to me." She nagged. "I'm pregnant for crying out loud." He looked at her and closed the file in his hand. "Okay. Let's go." "One more thing, can you order pizza?" "Alright. I'll do it right away." ********** "There is a movie premiere this weekend. I was sent an email. I doubt if I'll be attending it." Claire said as she read a new notification from her phone. "I got the mail too. Let's go please. It will be fun. I'm crushing on Ken Erics. I'm sure he'll be there." "Chantel please. With all these recent happenings, I want to be on a low right now." "Why? Listen girl, we live once. People that don't know your story will be the people to judge you. You've got to live up. That you're getting divorced foes not mean you should lock up. Mingle, make new friends, slay on red carpets and most importantly, tell the world that you don't care." "Chantel, I care. I've always wanted a simple life. I know where I come from so I can't let fame a and wealth get into my head but don't stress, we'll attend the premiere together." "Yipeee. Shopping shopping and shopping." "What's that one? Let me send you the jiji app biko. You'll order your dresses from there." They broke into laughter only to be interrupted by footsteps entering the sitting room. ************* Now he knew what was happening. Amara wants to embarass Claire in front of her guest. If he had known that she was with someone, he would havr remained upstairs. "Hello." The lady greeted with a smile. "Hi. I'm......." "Michael Njama, I know. All Claire's followers on Twitter and IG knows that." He smiled and extended a hand for a handshake. "Nice meeting you Miss?" "Chantel. The pleasure is all mine." He saw her shift her gaze to Amara, still maintaining her smile; "Hi." Chantel said "Hi. The name is Amara and.........." "My younger sister and my husband's new wife." Claire completed |
Amara stared from Ebere to Michael. "What didn't she tell you?" She repeated her question again "Uhm, baby, its nothing really." Michael fidgeted "But I want to know, so tell me." She settled beside him. He looked from his mistress to Ebere whose eyes were shimmering with unshed tears. What exactly was he going to say to Amara? ******** She looked at the three faces and she fought with herself not to laugh. One face was curious, the other was afraid while the third one was confusion laced with fear. She would come in now. If Amara finds out that Ebere was carrying Michael's baby, she would leave the house. She didn't want that. She wanted her to suffer and go through the same ordeals she had gone through so, its a big no. She won't let them tell her. ********* "Honey, are you hiding anything from me?" Amara stared into his face. He had sweat on his forehead and his eyes were not steady. "What are you hiding? You, what's happening here?" She faced Ebere A tear ran down her face and she looked away. "Amara, you're putting the girl on a tough spot. If your baby papa can't tell you what he's hiding, why turn your frustration to the poor girl?" Claire walked in, surprising the crowd of three. "And who invited you to this chit chat of ours?" Amara asked, folding her hands under her bosom. "I don't need invitation when it comes to my employees. Ebere, get out." "Hmm?" Michael hummed unconsciously, surprised at the reaction his ex wife was displaying. Ebere left as fast as her feet could carry her. A part of her was excited. Her boss has forgiven her. If not, why will she cover for her? She said a prayer of thanks as she slipped past the dinning and walked down the hallway that led to the room she shared with Chika. "You're tasting mini powers on a helper, why not look for your mate who'll help redesign this shameless face of yours? Don't speak to my workers ever again. It's enough that they're cooking your meals." Claire warned. "Oh! You won't talk to me like that." "I just did. And yes, she told me about the house upkeep allowance instead of him. That's why he's upset. You should trust your baby papa alright. You two need it." She settled into a sofa and fixed her eyes on the television. "Claire I hate you. I hate you so much." Amara cried and raced upstairs. This was not just what she bargained for. Just few days in the house and she's getting the opposite of what she came for. If she had known that her Claire was now cold to pain, she would have operated from the comfort of her home. "I curse the day you became my sister Claire. I hate you." She cried, throwing herself on the bed; the same bed she defiled. ******* "Why did you cover up for me? You still love me, don't you?" He heard himself say. She shot him a funny look and broke into a laugh which made him ashamed of himself. He wished he had not said those words. He wished he could take them back because the woman he was speaking to at the moment isn't the woman he married for love. "Love you? You must be drunk on some cheap wine my dear." She fixed her gaze back to the television. He won't ruin her mood, she won't let him. "Chief called. He'll still call back though. He saw the trending news so he's worried." "Okay." "Okay?" "Yes. Okay. Do you want to hear something else? If he's worried, get him out of his worries okay. Give him the big news. We'll be divorced in five days." His heart sank. He had not thought it deep. He had not thought about the consequences of his actions. "What was my crime? Tell me, what did I do wrong? I've been thinking about it and my only crime was pregnancy. I got pregnant and it ruined pur home. You slept with your secretary, I didn't complain and you brought your shameless self to my sister. I still forgave you, I still respected you but you still went astray. You showed that you're a dog Michael so don't sit down there and talk to me about love." He saw her fighting with the tears. She was doing a good job by holding it back. He felt her pain. "And you've brought her into my house, to spite me but no, i won't let the wicked hearts of two people on heat to ruin the plans God has for me. You asked for a divorce and I've given you so tell Chief that we're divorced. I'm ready to move on, tell him." She picked her phone and walked out of the house. A walk around would clear her head. ********* "You just sat down there and watched her say mean things to me. You did nothing, you said nothing. Fine, this house belongs to her, let's leave. You've got other properties where we can start our own little family. Let's leave Michael or I'll be forced to believe that you're still in love with her." "Amara, rest for a while please. You're just being .. ......* "Who chases rats when his house is on fire? I won't rest till she leaves our lives." She stood up and left. He slumped on his bed. What had he gotten himself into? There was a big gap between Amara and his Claire. He compaired the two and ended up shaking his head. He has made a mistake. He has lost his wife in a quest to satisfy his flesh. He was not a man anymore. |
"Ask Ebere to see me now." Michael said to Chika. She nodded and left the dinning. He couldn't get any atom of sleep the previous night. What Claire had told him rang in his head throughout. Was Ebere truly pregnant for him? If positive, then he was ruined for life, the name he had made for himself in the business world would be ruined, his career, what would Chief say? His phone rang and he picked it, speak of the devil; "Good morning dad." "Have you seen the news this morning? What is wrong with Claire?" "No sir. I've not seen the news but......." "Just when I thought you two have gotten what you need most in life, she's financially stable and you're still alive so tell me what she's looking for iin another man." "Sir?" "I'll call back in an hour and I want her on the line by then." "Ye.....yes sir." Chief terminated the call. What news was that? He quickly went to his browser. Whatever news that is must be trending on NL. *********** "He's looking for me?" "Yes, you. And before you start thinking that he's in the room, he's not. His new wife is still in bed." Ebere frowned "Why are you teasing me now? Do you think that with the recent happenings, I'll still allow him to touch me? My life is very important to me biko." "Finally, you've started to think with your brain. Ngwa, go and answer him." "But what do you think the problem might be? You served him breakfast so why does he need me?" "Maybe your tea tastes better or maybe he wants to fire you." "Chika!" "Yes nau. Excuse me biko." Ebere looked her over before exiting the room. ********* This wasn't happening. Pictures of Claire and the barrister were trending on NL with different topics; Biafrabushboy - Face of jiji gets a new fork mate. Purityval- Has the new face of jiji found warmth in the arms of another man? Queenitee- Married ambassador of jiji frolicks with a new catch Kimkardashian- Disgrace to womanhood; married woman goes nude for her new lover There were different topics that had both of them in it. He cursed audibly. This wasn't what he planned for when he said he wanted a divorce. Now, his entire life would be on the internet. "Sir, you sent for me." Ebere interrupted his thoughts He looked at her closely. It was the second time he was seeing her since he returned. She looked different, like someone who's afraid of something. She no longer had that courage in her eyes. That means that it was true. She was pregnant. "Why did you tell Claire instead of me? Why didn't you tell me first? We would have done something about it." "About what?" Amara asked, coming into the dining. ********* She tossed on the bed, her phone has been ringing and she was too sleepy to wake up. She had found it hard going to bed the previous night. She had thought of so many things and in the end, she realised that she was never at fault in all if it, except not knowing that she was pregnant. That was her only fault. She picked the phone from the lamp stand and there were nine missed calls, all from Phil. She tried to call back but another call started coming in. CHANTEL "Hello." She said into the receiver. "Don't tell me you're still in bed. Have you seen the news?" "No, I've not. Good morning." "Thank you. Babe, you're everywhere. Your pictures are trending in all platforms and you're still in bed? Shower and wait for me, I'm coming." "Alright." She hung up. They had planned to see in the afternoon and now, whatever news that was trending has changed their plans. She hadn't even had breakfast. She sat up and the first place her mind went to was twitter. She logged into her account and her eyes widened in shock. Her followers had increased to double of what it used to be. Her notification tab had over hundred tweets. What was happening? She scrolled down and a picture caught her eye. Phil was dragging her up from the sandy beach, the next one was when he carried her up in his arms. Then another, they were in the water and she had her arms wrapped around his abs. She had forgotten she was now a known personality, she had forgotten that her life was no longer for herself alone but for everyone. A comment caught her attention; "when you don't have money and you suddenly wake up to billions of naira, the first thing you do is thank God and not leaving your husband at home for some man." Another lady had tweeted, "jiji don make you celebrity so enjoy. Pray desperate girls don't go running to your husband." She smiled and bit her lower lip. She would wait for it to die down, then, she'll bare her mind to the world. She dropped the phone and striped. She needed a cold shower, then a make over. |
Wow. Well-done ma. This was a great piece with lots of lessons |
prodekul:I'm sorry babes. Forgive me |
"You didn't hear or you just refused to answer?" Amara asked angrily. Chika wiped her hand on a napkin and faced her. "My name is Chika, not hey or you. Excuse me please." Chika concluded and walked out, leaving Amara in shock. "What just happened here? Did that girl just insult me? Me? Does she know that I'm her new boss? I bet she doesn't know. I'll show her the stuff I'm made of. I'll teach her not to mess with me." She said to herself before walking out, forgetting the reason for her presence in the kitchen. ********* "She's lucky I'm not in the mood to talk. She thinks she's the only one that has mouth? She doesn't know that I answer to one boss. O maro how things si a run ebea(she doesn't know how things are being ran here)." Chika retorted angrily "What's up? What happened." "That husband snatcher o, but that one dey shaa. Come let's stroll." Ebere's eyes lit up. She loved evening stroll and would often pick to do all the day's chores just so she would take a stroll "See her eyes. Stand up joor." ********* "Thank you Phil. You just know how to lift me off some odd moods." They were parked in front of her house. The weather had become chilly and she had no coat with her so Phil had suggested they went home. "It's okay. At least, I get to spend some time with you." "Phil i ........" "I know. I'm just a pawn to you. You're just using me to get over what your husband has done to you but it's still okay. I'll wait for you." "Phil, how can you........" "Like I said, it's okay. I understand everything." "No you don't. You don't understand anything, you don't understand me. How can you think such of me? Alright. It's okay. I'll leave you now. If you think you're a pawn, then get out of my life, stop calling me, stop helping me, stop allowing me to use you." She cried. She opened the door and stepped out, took a last look at the car and ran inside her compound. She stopped in front of the entrance and wiped her tears. They won't see her like this. They'll never see a drop of her tear ever again. She opened the door and walked in. There was nobody in the sitting room. She went straight up and got into her room quietly. She also didn't forget to turn the lock. *********** He looked at his wristwatch, it was 11;53pm and she was not yet back. How could she have the mind to be doing this in his presence? She was driving him crazy with her actions and dressing. He didn't know her to be cold hearted so what went wrong? He looked at the sleeping figure beside him. He was confused but he would take a step first. He got down from the king sized bed and left the room. He would wait for her to come back and they'd talk about all these. Somehow, he prayed that there should be a way out for him. *********** "Yes please. I need you here tomorrow. I'll be indoors throughout so I could use your company. Thank you." She hung up. Thank God she called, at least, a plan was already in her head on what she could use her for. She tied her nightwear to the side and left the room. She was hungry. She made it downstairs and turned on the light only to see Michael snoring away. She tapped him till he was fully awake. "What is it? Do you want to turn my living room into your bedroom?" He cleared his eyes and sat up. When did she come back? "Please, don't sleep here again.' "Uhm. I was actually waiting for you." "Why? Isn't it enough that I'm still keeping you here? What do you want?" "To talk Claire. I want us to talk." She chuckled and turned away from him. "If you want to talk, meet my lawyer. I can't talk to you because you're a sorry excuse of a man so if you wanna talk, go to my lawyer." "Claire please. You know we can settle this thing between us without getting a third party involved." She quickly turned to him. 'Right. Because it's Claire right? If I didn't come in contact with those papers, Micheal you and I know that you would have thrown me out of this house without waiting for your lawyer. Stop making me look like the guilty one. Stop it." "Claire please....." She looked away. She didn't want to see him cry because it would break her too. "You started with your secretary, I forgave you. I still gave you a chance but you refused to stop. You took it to my sister and now, both she and my maid are pregnant for you." "What?" Michael faced her. "What are you saying?" "Ebere is carrying your child Michael. I regret that I ever fell in love with you. Read my lips Michael, I curse the day l set my eyes on you." Without sparing him another glance, she left the room. ******* |

"Wow." Phil exclaimed as Claire stepped out of the gate. "You look amazing." He completed, giving her a warm hug "No. I look like a loose woman. Let's go." She answered bluntly and got in without waiting for Phil to help her. He shrugged. Something was really pissing her off but he won't stress it till they get to the beach first. He got into the car, looked at her and started the ignition ********* "You've been crying since you came in here. What's the problem?" Chika asked her colleague "She hates me now. You should have seen the way she looked at me, how she asked me to leave her room. I shouldn't have told her, I shouldn't have." Ebere cried "Hmmm. Were you expecting her to hug you or shake your hands? Her marriage has gone down because of her sister so its natural for her to act that way. She's going through a lot so give it time. I know our boss." "Chika I'm scared. I don't have anybody that will take care of me if anything should happen. I....." "What will happen? You've started saying what I don't like now." Chika stood up and went to her. "In as much as all this is your fault, I'll still go with you to madam and I'll beg on your behalf. I don't want you saying those bad things biko. You didn't think of them when you were opening your legs o." Ebere slapped her hand playfully "I don't even know the kind of friend you are." "Eh. The friend that will always tell you the truth. Go and shower biko. You're smelling." Ebere raised her hand and sniffed her arm pit. "It's not me biko." "But you'll have to shower before I chsnge my mind." Ebere looked at her and stood up. Chika had a mischievous smile on her face "Sharp sharp. Iyawo Michael." "God forbid." "Ehe! You no go marry am but you go agree fork am. Werey le o." "Let it be biko. Let me take my bath." Chika gave a fake nod and left the room. She was happy she was from a strict family. They were poor but their prestige was well known in the village. Her father had trained them well and she still had that fear of him in her. She won't mess up now. She prayed that luck shines on her like it did to Gertrude. *********** "Baby, what are you thinking?" "Thinking of the fastest way to take out a target. I want her out of this house as soon as possible." "Who? Who's your target?" "Your ex wife. I want her out of here. She won't give me peace while I'm here. You're not even helping matters." "But we're together. That's what matters." "No. What should matter is her sadness, her failure. You're divorcing her yet she's happy, I'm pregnant for you and she's happy, she has a plan and I won't sit here and watch you do nothing about it." "Calm down. This mood isn't good for your condition. I'll think up something as soon as possible, I think it's that barrister guy that's helping her out. Don't worry. I'll handle it" "Are you sure?" "Trust me. You know, all fingers will point at us if anything should happen to her so calm down and trust your baby." She smiled and threw her arms around him. "We can now have a " me " time." She said, planting a kiss on his lips "Hmmmm. Sounds interesting." He lifted her to the table and they began to kiss passionately. He whisked her up and began to run up the stairs. He had missed her honey pot. ******* "They're both pregnant for him? What kind of guy is that?" "And you know what, I'm not going to take it likely with both of them. I'll teach them not to mess with me." "Nah. Nah. I don't support that one. I'll tell you what you'll do okay? For now, let's get you out of this mood." He stood up and lifted her in his arms and she screamed "You've got weight you know." "Phil, put me down. People are watching." "Let them watch. You're my baby after all." She laughed as he raised to the water where he dumped her with a loud splash. The next minute, they were already playing with the water. ******** "That was terrific." Michael said as he slipped out of her "Yea. I always blow your mind." "Trust me, you do." "Alright. I'll get juice downstairs. There's none in your fridge." "Okay." She got up and went to the bathroom, tied a towel and blew him a kiss before leaving the room. She got downstairs and saw Chika entering the kitchen. "Hey. You." She called out but the girl paid no attention. She angrily walked to the kitchen and saw her washing her hands "Didn't I just call you?" "I'm sorry but I didn't hear my name." |
She was tired of staying in the room. Micheal hadn't even come upstairs to check on her. Maybe he was talking to Claire. No, she won't give them that chance. She angrily left the room and went downstairs only to meet him alone in the sitting room, sulking like a child. "Honey, what's going on? What happened?" He looked at her and shook his head. What was he going to say? That all his luxuries are not his anymore? Or that he was stupid enough to think with his heart and not his brains. "Talk to me honey, you can tell me anything." But he didn't respond again. Instead, he stood up and walked to the bar and she followed. He poured himself a drink and gulped down the entire glass. He poured the second and was about to down it when she held his hand. "Is this how you'll give me a welcome? Drinking to my face? Michael, you know very well how much that woman wants to break you yet you allow her words get to you, you know she doesn't want our happiness. She's upstairs, doing goodness knows what and you're here, planning to drink yourself to stupor. Where's the warmness you promised me, you're beginning to shatter my hopes even before I start my new life with you. You want to drink right? Fine. We'll drink together." She left his hand and brought out a glass. No! He won't let her drink it. It would harm the baby. He quickly took the glass from her and took her in his arms. "I'm sorry baby. Forgive me. I promise, I won't do this ever again. I'm sorry." **"******** She wore the white chiffon jacket and looked herself over. This was madness but she will go through it just to make her ex husband burn. She was wearing a little bum short and a crop singlet, then she wore the jacket, leaving the buttons open. She had finished her dressing with a silver gladiator. She was visiting the beach after all. A light knock came on her door and she paused. It better not be Amara or Michael. She made a mental note to start locking her door. "Come in." She said and turned to the door. Ebere walked in and locked the door immediately before getting on her knees. "I've offended you madam. I've offended you a whole lot, please forgive me." "What's this one? What's wrong and why this drama?" Ebere broke down in tears, surprising her boss the more. "Okay. Why not stand up from there and tell me egat the problem is? You can always talk to me, you know that. Stand up." Claire helped her sit on the bed before sitting down beside her. "I can only forgive you when you tell me the crime you committed. I've created this boss-employee relationship between us and so far, it's been good. So, talk to me." "I'm pregnant." Ebere sobbed. Claire stood up and walked to the door. She opened it to check if there was anybody in the corridor. She closed it back and bolted it, then went back to her former position "Who is the boy? Did he deny it? Tell me his address and I'll get him arrested immediately. But you, why would you have unprotected sex at the first place? Now look. Young girls of nowadays, who's he?" Ebere knelt down again and her tears flowed more. "I've wronged you in so many ways when all youvd done is to show me love. You're even ready to fight for me. I'm not proud of myself anymore, I hate that I did this to you. I'm so sorry. Please forgive me." "I'll forgive you after I teach that boy a lesson. Give me his name and stop crying." "I can't ma. I can't bring myself to say it." Claire looked at her. "You're hiding something. I can't help you if you don't give me clues. Look, I'm dressed up to go out and you're keeping me here so talk to me." "It's Mr Michael. I'm........ " "Michael? Mr Michael? You mean my own Michael?" She asked, praying it wasn't true. But Ebere nodded. "Get out. Get out now." Claire screamed. The pregnant helper picked herself from the floor and ran to the door, even as she struggled with the lock, she still pleaded for mercy. She had never seen her boss react that way. "Get out now." She opened the door and slipped into the living room. Claire sat down dejectedly on her bed. This was the height of it. He also did her helper? This was the last straw and she won't take it lying low. What kind of man did she marry? How come he his all his true characters the time they were courting? "Oh Lord, tell me what to do." She said helplessly, looking at the ceiling of her room. Her phone rang and she looked at the ID. A thin smile appeared on her lip. "You ready?" He asked "Yea. I'm good to go." "Why not step out? I'm outside already." "Alright. See you in five." She hung up and looked around her room. With phone in hand and a key in the other, she looked herself in the mirror and stepped out of the room. And for the first time since she met Michael, she locked the room. ********** "Don't do this again please." She pleaded He freed her from his grip and looked at her properly Will she still be here when she finds out that half of his life hardwork now belonged to Claire? He wondered. "I'm sorry. I won't repeat this again." "Alright. Come, we.........." And it was her turn to be speechless as she watched her elder sister come down the stairs. Michael followed her gaze and his mouth went apart. She won't take this, no she won't. She looked at Michael who was already looking at the woman lustfully and her bile went up. "Is that how shameless you've become? Do you know that you're a married woman? If you no longer have any respect for yourself, at least, have one for your husband." "Husband? Please. And hey, ask the man behind you to close his mouth. There are bacterias in the air." She did a little wave and left the house. "And stop staring. Gosh." Amara shouted on Michael. "I'm sorry. I'm just surprised. I didn't know she had those kinds of clothes." "And you claim to be her husband. Really, I do not understand what's going on anymore. What has she done to you? I didn't bargain for this drama when I agreed to come here with you." He swallowed hard. This is going to be hard |
"You're not serious. James, what are you saying? It can't be." "Mike calm down. I've got the papers here with me. 28th February 2014. You had signed this papers two days after your wedding. Claire wasn't there with you. In your own words, you had said it was love. I remember warning you about it but you clearly shut me up." "Jeez. How did she find out then?" Michael asked, looking at the silent Claire. "I'll come in here. And while I'm at it, don't shout on my head." Claire said. Micheal slumped on a nearby sofa. Everything has gone wrong. Everything. James, his lawyer had walked in first, followed by another young man in his early thirties. They had gone down to business straight and he found out that the only thing he owned was his father's company and a farm house somewhere in Abuja plus a Lexus 300 which happened to be an old one. He was madly in love with his Claire that he had signed all he had to her name. He bought their cars with her name, he changed the property papers to her name. Who does that? He was sure he didn't tell her about it so how did she know? "The day I moved out of our room, the girls had taken every file in my wardrobe. I saw it and kept it for you, hoping to give it back when you come home from work but what did you do? You came home that day and beat me to near death. I almost lost my life that day. But I still kept quiet. I still endured, struggled to get you back on track but you refused. And when you asked for divorce, I forwarded the papers to my lawyer and the rest is history." She concluded, looking at Michael's pity face. Amara stood up and walked out. This wasn't happening. She won't leave this house for anybody. She stopped at the stairs and shot Claire one last look before going away. ********** It'll take a week for your divorce to be processed. I'll ask that you two take things easy till then. Claire, can I see you for a minute?" Barrister Alex said after everyone had signed the necessary papers. Claire stood up and followed him outside. "What do you intend to do with the properties? Its not wise for these papers to be carried around daily." "I know. But believe me, I don't intend to take anything except this house and I won't keep it either. I just want to show him a little of what I passed through with his betrayal and all that." "Just be careful. Desperate men can go any length to get what they want." "Thanks Alex. Let me walk you to your car." ********* "James, I'm finished for life. How did I put myself in this mess?" "If only she didn't see the papers. But, Mike, what went wrong? Just two years and its like this, where is that love that made you put everything to her name?" "James, forget that question first. How do I get out of this mess?" "Talk to her. I know Claire, she's just putting up a strong wall. She'll listen." "Are you sure?" "Except you are the one who is wrong." James stood up. "I'll see you in a week." "Okay. But I'll still call you." They were about to shake hands when Claire walked in "Sorry James, I couldn't offer you anything cause it was on a formal ground. But now, what do I get for you?" Claire asked in a pleading tone "I'm good Claire. I've got other things to do. Besides, breakfast is still fresh in my stomach." "Okay then. Take care." James nodded and left while she turned to head to her room *let's talk less about this. In one week, I'll be selling the house so don't talk much." "What? You're selling my house?'' "No. My own house." She glanced at the wallclock and hissed. 2;01. "I beg to be excused please. My date will be here very soon and I've not even showered." And with that, she found herself going up the stairs while Michael struggled not to let the tears flow |
Daisyben:baby, where d hell have u been? |
Small madam, come and quench my thirst o. Ken wasn't doing o. But when his demon possessed him, he became worse. Glad that he's been caught shaa. Madam, you're killing it here |
Toyin223:Nne, today isn't a good one for me. I lost a big job. But I'll try to keep anger outta this thread. |
ericsmith:I'm not Claire and I have every excuse to be angry. And don't, I repeat, don't ask me to hurry up. U don't pay me to do ur work. |
prodekul:I see. Okay. I'll make it longer and just update once in a day than the three times I update. Thank u |
"What is wrong with her please?" Amara said in a whisper "I don't know. This is what I've been seeing since yesterday that's why I asked you to come very early." "Wow. This change wasn't what I expected but all the same, I'll take it one at a time." "Just eat. I've missed you." "But you just left my house yesterday. Is that how much I drive you crazy?" "Of course. Come sit on my lap so I can feed you myself." "Awww. You're gonna spoil me silly. But don't stress. I need to relax and eat this. It's been long I ate home made meal." "Alright. Let me call my lawyer and see how long it will take before he gets here." "Okay." ****"****** She looked at her phone. Phil was calling. She swiped it to the green icon and placed the phone to her left ear. "Hmmm. Thought you'll never call." "I'm sorry babes. I lost a client so I went to pay my condolences." "Oh. So sorry." "Thanks baby. How's it going over there?" "I just finished breakfast. I'm waiting for the lawyers to show up." "Uhm, are you sure you wanna do this?" "Phil, do you want me to beg for a family? He asked for a divorce and I'm giving him one. Heaven knows i tried to make us work but its clear he's grown tired of me. As we speak right now, my sister is officially here as his new bride." There was silence from his end. After some seconds, he spoke up. "I'll pick you by 3, we're going to the beach." "Phil....." "We'll talk there, trust me hmmm?" "Alright. See ya." "Bye." She hung up just as Micheal walked in. "He'll be here soon." He said before sitting down on a single couch. "Oh. Okay." She replied and picked a piece of fish, concentrating on the movie she was watching. "How come you appear so calm about all these? Does that mean you've also wanted out?" She looked at him and smiled. "Honestly, I've never wanted out but then, I got to experience what it felt like to be in the arms of another man and now, I really really want out." His eyes shot out "You mean, you both are having sex already? Just yesterday?" He thundered "You also mean you've been sleeping with my sister?" He looked away. "Anything else? You wanna say ssomething else?" Amara walked in and gave both of them a questioning look. "What's happening here?" She asked no one in particular. When no answer came from any of them, she sat on Michael's legs and put her hands over his shoulders. "Don't tell me you're already having a bad day already huh? Let me spice it up for you with this news." "Hmm. Let me hear it." "Uhm, I'm PREGNANT!" She screamed the last word so everyone would hear. Michael couldn't believe it as he stared at her excited face. "I'm pregnant with your first child honey." She clutched her stomach "You...... I'm gonna be a father?" "Yes baby. Our baby." They embraced each other happily. This was good news to him, the best so far. ********** The words pricked her ears and she fought not to cry. She played deaf ear to their charter, instead, she thought of the good time she spent with Phil the previous evening and the tears went back to its place. But somehow, that word echoed back to her head. Amara had really gone far. She had it all planned out but she won't let things play out in her favour. NEVER. She wasn't barren and Michael knows that. Anyways, it was only a matter of time and she'll add flesh, become lazy and loose shape and he'll see it was same with a women. He might even be stupid enough to beat the foetus out of her. The last thought caused her to chuckle and she started laughing at her own sick thoughts. How can she wish her own sister ill luck? She must be getting high with fever or acute malaria. ********* Did she just hear a chuckle followed by a laugh? No, this wasn't happening? What thick skin did she develop that the news of her pregnancy didn't inflict pain to her? "And what's funny? Looser?" She asked, standing up and going to face Claire. "Nothing dearie. Just laughing at my own sick jokes." Claire replied with all calmness "Silly jokes my foot or you're just trying to hide the pain and ......." "Whoh. Easy tigress so you don't say some things you end up regretting. Little kids should have at least twenty percent respect for anybody who's older than them. Plus, you shouldn't make noise while you're in same room with me. Adiro adi abuo ayi ara(two people can't be mad at once)" Amara flushed. Something was definitely wrong somewhere. She looked at Michael who had his jaw dropped. The door bell rang and they all looked towards the entrance. "Finally." Claire said and stood up. |
ericsmith:Right. If my "quickies" ain't satisfying you, please click the unfollow button yea. Full time update yet you've got no topic that bear your name. Look, I'm angry, don't add to it |
She was about asking Chika to serve the main course when the door bell rang. Chika excused herself and went to get in only to come in bearing a huge box. Claire recognised the box. The exact one her sister had left the house with. She knew what was coming next so she braced her mind for it. Michael stood up with a smile as soon as Amara appeared with a smaller box "My baby." They shared a warm embrace and a quick kiss. "Welcome home my love. I've been waiting." "I'm here now." They hugged again, showing how excited they were. "Uhm, what's that your name again? Send that box to Michael's room then you go outside and send in the rest." Chika nodded almost out of shock and moved the box. ********** She felt insulted as the new couple stepped back to the dinning. She watched as Michael helped her sit. She took her eyes away and saw Chika struggling at the foot of the stairs with the box. "Chika? That's where you'll stop. Come serve me my breakfast." Claire said calmly but with the charisma of the boss she was. Chika quickly left the box and ran to the table. "One more thing please, nobody should get anything that belongs to me from that kitchen without my permission huh. Until I leave this house at least. Did you hear right?" "Yes madam." "Good. I trust you'll handle it well but just in case I'm not in, use your hands hmm?" Chika smiled and went ahead to dish out the food for her boss. ********* Anybody would be able to figure out the confusion written on Amara's face. What happened to her timid elder sister? The Holy Mary of the house? She was expecting a weak frame but the Claire she saw looked healthy with a glowing skin. And what was that she was wearing? When did she learn to do bum pants and crop tops? This wasn't the welcome back she had anticipated but then, she still had news and that one would definitely hit her hard. "Let me serve you my love." Michael interrupted her thoughts. "Yes please." She gave a fake smile *********** "You can go now. Have your own breakfast because I'm sure it'll take time for some people to eat something so you and Ebere should go on." "Thank you madam." Claire dismissed her with a nod and started eating. She'd looked at her sister who looked malnourished, like she's not been eating and her heart melted. She had planned not to allow her taste anything on the dinning but she remembered what her mother always said, "do not punish someone with starvation." But she won't do this after today. Since her so called sister could be this unjust to her, she would cast her soft heart away and give her the same treatment. Besides, the measure you give you shall receive. She'd spared her sister, looked over every wrong she'd done, given her lots of chances. And she ended up not only spoiling the child, but giving her free assess to come into her home to ruin it. ************* "Wonders shall never end. Two sisters are in battle over a man." Chika said as soon as she stepped into the kitchen. "How? What fake news are you spreading now?" "My news are always first class so bikokwa, hold it there." "Oya ndo. Tell me what's happening?" "Amara is back and she came back as Mr Michael's wife." "Eh! You must be joking. What about our boss?" "They're getting a divorce nau. But I've made up my mind o. I'm not staying in this house like I planned earlier. I'm leaving with our boss." "Why nau?" "Did you just ask me that? Hmmm. When Amara was in this house as a junior madam, how was she? Wicked and without heart. Imagine now that she's the main boss." "Chi moo." "Yes. Chi gi o. Cause I'm sure she'll kill you when she realises you're pregnant for her husband. Take my advise eh, tell our boss or you abort that thing." Chika said, dishing out her own food. She looked at Ebere one last time before leaving the kitchen. Ebere sank to the floor. Her life is ruined already. In her quest to get laid by a rich man, she had messed her own life. She closed her eyes and heaved a sigh. Any which way na way shaa. ********* Her phone rang and she smiled upon seeing the caller ID. Time check. 9;31am "Good morning.... Hope the traffic isn't much..... Alright, see you soon." She dropped the call and picked a new plate. She dished out plantains and a tail of fried fish and stood up, pushing her almost empty plate of rice to the side. She picked her properties in her left hand and picked the plate with the other hand and looked at Michael "Call your lawyer. Mine just called. Let him be here on time so we'll get this thing over and done with." They watched her cat walk out of the dinning. She was not crying or doing any of the things they'd thought she would do Amara didn't like this new sister of hers but she consoled herself. She still had a bomb waiting to explode |
