Anyway, there is a way to stop both longings and that's by washing your mind with soap (more refined: renewing your mind.) How? By studying the word of God, not READING the bible. Your got to read with direction and desire. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your heart to receive the truth. And don't start from some funny scriptures, start from the life, walk and work of Jesus. Ok!

To be born-again doesn't mean that you have stopped sinning, otherwise why will God make provision for sin?

Why does the bible "if WE confess our sins. . ."?

The bible says

PERFECTING SAINTS!!!? It means there aren't necessarily perfect!

That's the sweetness of the Holy Spirit. Remeber we say: "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, " because He came to show us this grace of God. However, now that He's gone to heaven, there is One that answers to His Name, and that's the Holy Spirit. ("And the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father shall send IN MY NAME, ". So He (The Holy Ghost) administrates the grace of the Lord Jesus. And here's what He's laid down so far.

"ASK" for forgiveness!?

What the bible says is collect it (King James Version says ". . .obtain mercy. . .", because He's got excesses of it flowing toward YOU alone, talk more of the whole world.

So there's more than enough for every sin you've committed, every sin you may be committing and every sin you may ever commit.

Does that mean we should sin on, so this grace may abound!? Paul (in Romans 6:15) said "God forbid!" And then I want you to read the rest of that book and get the picture for yourself on what is sin.

The bible specifically defines in Romans 14:23 what sin is!

Now while you child is growing, you can feed him, bath him, dress him up, lace his shoes, give him pocket money and more.

How about when he turns 40 years old and you're still doing all that for him, and he's not disabled or sick?

So why do we think so with God. When we first get born-again, he can start us out, and move us up; however, he won't keep doing everything for us like we're babies; that's the growth he expects us to go through. 1st Peter 3:18.

So in the case of your speaking in tongues, the Holy Spirit has been opening your mouth and speaking for you, now it's your turn to learn to speak yourself - That's what He's saying to you - Grow up!

I can tell you this because I went through the same thing late last year into early this year, until I learnt to open my mouth myself and have Him feed it with words. So go ahead my friend - Speak in tongues!!!

A believer could get sick with anything.
But a Christian CAN NOT!!!

What's the difference?

A muslim can be called a believer because he believes Jesus died and was raised and will still not be a christian;
but a christian does that and more; he confesses The Lordship of Jesus.

And a life and body where Jesus is Lord can't get sick!

I love it that you are rational in your thinking my friends, but the gospel is beyond the rationality of the mind. It all together superceedes the interllectual dimension of life, so you can't even try to argue it.

Jesus said preach the good news. Maybe I should highlight to you again that the point according to JESUS is GOOD NEWS That's in the Mark 16:15

Again in Matthew 24:14 He said "And THIS gospel of the kingdom shall be preached for a WITNESS unto all nations, ". Notice He said "'THIS' gospel" of the kingdom and NOT "THE gospel" of the kingdom. So you are right there are many gospels, however, THIS is the one He wants preached.

Don't get me wrong, but Jesus ain't stupid, He knows no poor man will come and receive His life if it carries the message of poverty, neither will a sick man, if its message was disease, nor a failure if the message was failure - He's already a failure, he already feels down, how much more of it does he want before he commits suicide like many who have gone before him without receiving Christ's life JUST because no one could present that life attractive enough.

It is those attractive, motivating things we preach about this life to motivate the man to come and receive the life.

Didn't you read Jesus say ", if I be lifted [beautified and made attractive], I will draw all men unto me, "?

Go check on it! You have not receive the gospel of Jesus if you're not motivated to talk to someone else about Him.
And please tell me, a poor street dude turn rich by the message you call motivational or the guy who was rich and didn't get any richer 'because some guy says ", otherwise you'll go to hell, " who's going to be more grateful and motivated!?

Even Jesus gave such a parable of 2 servants who were forgiven debt. The guy who was shown more grace was more grateful!!!

What do you think Jesus was saying when He said "I came for the sick, not for the healthy; for the healthy need no physician."

Wake up people! Wake up! See things rightly! You are carnally listening to the message wrongly, while another man gratefully seats, listens, hears, receives the message and gets born-again.

The bible says "Whatever is true, whatever is honest, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good report; if there be any virtue; if there be any praise, think on these things [ALONE] ,  and the God of peace will be with you." Philippians 4: 8-9

If what you think about a message that gets people born-again is not true AND honest AND just AND pure AND lovely AND of good report AND praise-worthy, then here's my advice,

STOP THE DEVIL FROM BIRTHING IN YOU A THOUGHT THAT HINDERS MEN FROM GOING TO HEAVEN IF THAT'S THE ONLY MESSAGE THAT WILL MOTIVATE, CONVINCE AND CONVICT

I don't analyse pastors. I am a committed member where I am. And I'm sold out for the vision even if it sounds like motivational speaking.
Thanks for the invite though, it displays your commitment.

However, I need you to consider that no matter the words pastor kumuyi or any other pastor preach, whether it sounds motivational or not, it is the holy spirit who interpretes the words into the hearts of men. If people believe and are being transformed and made better in such churches, then let them be.

And besides, the bible says in Thessalonians 5:21

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

It boils down to a personal factor, I observe!

Finding church boring?

Well, here's what I have to say, If you're finding the music or something else of that sort, then you're really bored!
All you are doing is covering the truth up with a experience and a feeling you get from it.

To be interested is this: If the pastor stepped on stage and sang one song until the service is over, you enjoyed it.
Those who experience this are those who are:
1. Involved at church.
2. Convicted by the message
3. Are real members - by this I mean people who have the church vision impressed on thier hearts & run with it.

check that and you'll be sorted; and if you can't sort yourself out with this at the church you're at, then you probably need to move on - ask the Lord to show you the way.

You forgot that Christ actually specifically taught His followers that some of the things in Deuteronomy were not correct. "You have heard it said , but I (i.e. Christ) tell you , "; or Moses allowed some things because of 'your hardness of heart' "but I (Christ) tell you , "

You were a clown on this one: read that passage again - It's not a law!

In any event, the abuse/misuse of passages like Deut. 8:18 (and soon you'll also be [mis]quoting III John 2 as well) is one of the unfortunate things brought about by the vomit of satan known as the prosperity "gospel'/message.
