sheke01: Thank God I didn't post this else people would have said I should allow people to be hopeful.
If I have said here that the EU posted their directives last week about reopening and Nigeria isn't on the list of countries that will be allowed into the EU, some persons would have come here to say am a pessimist.
Truth is a bitter pill. Am weeks away from having an expired visa, I need a visa much more than most people here before am stuck in this country without a visa but I had to swallow the bitter pill that if i graduate without fixing my visa issues I might not be able to leave this country for a long time even in emergency. You are in Nigeria now? |

Sanguine1: Thanks so much for this priceless support.
One more thing how can I do the ND and HND transcripts again? I don't E even know why i included them in my application self. Send them a mail that you can only process your BSc transcript at the moment, and ask them if that will be enough...you may cite cost as an issue. See what they will say. Also, you will have to go to the notary public with your originals for sighting. |

Sanguine1: Hello my better people, My school asks me to order my institution to send my official transcripts with a certified copy of my certificate. What did they mean by "Certified Copy of Bsc Certificate" because I have my Bsc certificate with me already now, so will school send it again?
I used my both ND, HND and Bsc to apply for admission, how I am going to send all the transcripts to them without costing me a lot of money? You can get it certified in a court by a notary public at about 50 or 100 or 200 naira per page, depending on the location. I did mine at customary Court of appeal Enugu at 50 naira per copy. Secondly, after getting it done, you may beg your institution to add the Certified documents to your transcripts when they are sending it. I don't know if this will be possible. I just think it would reduce cost of shipping for you. |

omomayelakesi: The situation in India with respect to COVID-19 is a lot worse than Nigeria in terms of cases. However, two students from India who were admitted into the same doctoral program with me said they have gotten an earlier date through the expedited appointment option for second week of July. The told me on the WhatsApp platform we created that the embassies in India are not open yet and the regular date available is October 3rd but when they used the expedited appointment option they got second week of July. I'm confused. Can we also use this expedient option in Naija? There is no available date in Lagos and the earliest date in Abuja is November 3rd.
Bubu is not ready to allow international travel anytime soon.

Predstan: That will differ from school to school and sometimes profile of the funded student. If you have funding and cant report to school in August, just talk to your graduate coordinator and see if they can defer your funding till the spring semester of 2021. What if the person had deferred from summer to fall... And still couldn't make it for fall resumption? |

Someone said his professor withdrew his funding, I think due to his inability to start this fall as a result of COVID-19. Is it possible that funded student who were supposed to start this fall but could not as a result of embassy not opening for visa, may lose their funding? |

sonofakin: What the whole academic/immigration world are trying to do is to stay positive and maybe be prepared incase things turn out well. A lot of recommendations are being made by the stakeholders concerned to adapt to the situation. Schools, SEVP, USCIS are all trying to modify policies to suit the current situation. An example is allowing schools to send i20 to students' school email addresses. Everyone is only trying to be hopeful, preparing for both the worst and the best, the alternative is doing nothing at all. Worst case scenario, one can defer the admission. Good for you that you got admission and funding and good for you that you are sad about it but everyone must not share your pessimism Excellent reply. |

Tell am o. Since he/she works in the exam room for all schools. FA13: I think I am done with this. Which exam room? Do you work with all schools? I said SOME. Maybe the school you work with has it. I did not deny that. Get the point. SOME do not have it. Why do we all have 'hasty generalization'. The world does not revolve round only about what you have seen. |

TrojanSnail: Dear Applicant,
As of March 18, 2020, the United States Embassy and Consulate in Nigeria is cancelling routine nonimmigrant visa appointments. We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time.
The MRV fee is valid and may be used for a visa application in the country where it was purchased within one year of the date of payment. If you have an urgent matter and need to travel immediately, please follow the guidance provided at https://ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-expeditedappointment.asp to request an emergency appointment.
