Christianity EtcRe: Listening Into Others Prayers In Church. Good Or Bad by paris10: 1:27pm On Aug 24, 2010
watchme:
NEW GENERATION CHURCHS; the course of all these is shouting and making noise mistaken as being praying.

Jesus Christ our mentor never shouted while praying nor committed any nuisance, when he was asked by one of his fellowers; "Master teach us how to pray" He told them to go to a quit place and peacefully say "Our father, "

So any other shouting and making noise in the name of praying is a nuisance.
I sure do love you my dear, you're well bang on the point.
Christianity EtcRe: Listening Into Others Prayers In Church. Good Or Bad by paris10: 1:25pm On Aug 24, 2010
Listen all,

No one wants to listen to any body's prayer deliberately, just a form of misinterpretation on the part of the complainant.

Don't you know that the more you raise your voice and increase the decibel, you're more likely to distract the person beside you!. Because your voice tend to overshadow that of your neighbour, they automatically lower their voice, and thereby  prompting you to think they did that on purpose to listen to what you're saying to Baba God.

Enough of this preconceived and ignorant ideas. And even if they do listen to your prayers, you might unwittingly be  helping them to pray the right way! A lot of folks out there don't know how to pray, your zealousness and kaboski might help them you know.

All your plans and pettitions will have no head way cos we all know that we live in a world of LIBERTY and the church members and donators are not forced to give to the church and the MOGs neither are they forced attend the churches.
They may have been brainwashed,yes
!and in the name of God too but there is realy nothing anyone can do about it so stop stressing yourself.

and about building churches on every corner,i think it has more to do with large areas of land to construct the big structures and jesus would have done the same if there were no space than have a church which is unable to contain all it's members.
You know what, we have in recent times swap the real meaning of giving to 'eye service giving'. When last did you or someone close to you look at someone sitting beside you and bless them with gifts or things they lack? And again, ask yourself this, why do we give either offering or tithe? Is it not to relieve those that lack and feed those that are hungry? The Pastors gets richer every second whilst his fellow brethren gets poorer every day.

We are all hypocrites and the truth is not in us. We are so deluded that we often fail to realise that our only mission here is to help the brethren. WWJD is still my question, Would Jesus buy more cars or build more houses to those that preaches to him, or rather give to those that do not have at all? These days, our Pastors are not just contempt with their salaries any more, they now have what I call oju kokoro. Every one is entitle to their own opinion.

, Don't wanna sound preachy, but ofcourse poignant. You probably should know that by now you don't need a soothsayer to tell you that the end time is here. Moreso,, the time to end this acrimonious, dubious and criminal activity in the Church of God is also now!

Risen from the dead is Christ, and bearing all the sin of the world is also Christ and not some 'Holy' pentecostal Churches Pastors who their congregation now worship. I will not have you ignorant, but come plain and have you reason with me.

Every Churches now advertises its own agenda to making more money rather than saving souls. Churches are now more eager to open a branch for profitability than norturing the one they already have. Churches now wanted to be known for its brand sake than what their original intention were.

I just sat down and wondered if Jesus would do what these CEO's are doing; the opening of many branches in the same vicinity, the opening of a psychiatry hospital (now called healing school), the use of helicopter to travel from states to states, the persistent, aggressive and mean ways of collecting tithes, the flamboyant houses and cars own by these individual pastors. I believe Jesus would rather build a massive Church in a vicinity and have all the locals worship there, rather than having them on every street.

Was at a Redeemed Church few weeks ago, and the Pastor was telling a story of how he told his son that his bank manager only respect him  because of how much money he's got in the bank. The Bible says Jesus was rich but for our sake he became poor. Which Pastor would become poor for the sake of his flock now a days? Don' t think they exist any more!

I think the idea of having your card details taken in a Church for offering or tithe sake is bad. I'm opposed to it. Bring your tithe and offering the Bible says and not your card.  Don't think there's any difference between the Shia Muslims and Christ Embassy members; they're both fanatics! Always at logger-head with anyone that critique their sect, and  replacing the Bible with Chris's Rhapsody.

Daddy G.O is a fine man and Ashi is a business man. Oyedepo is a Professor in his own University while Okotie has turn his members to be rappers. Chris O's friend is a miracle working man, and quoting the scripture is seen as being in the spirit by C.E members,  the most popular ones are, ',  the Bible says in the city of Ephesus, so mighty grew the word of God and it prevailed, ', and , 'if any man be in Christ, ', hence CHRIST EMBASSY.

Now, to the issue of saving God, in other words, saving HIS Church, i'm already on the verge of leading a petition to the federal govt through EFCC to bring to justice the G.O's and so-called M.O.G's that are using the name of the most high as a cover-up in defrauding, manipulating, brainwashing and embezzling the faithful's funds for their selfish gain.

I know this is an audacious move which would ofcourse come across some attacks even from within, I however will not relent in trying to make this happen. And who told us that M.O.G's cannot be questioned as to how they get their money? This is going to be a very interesting journey which would in long run open a further investigation on the part of those who donates or give large sum of money or gifts to their Pastors.

My aim is that at the end (if God gives us victory), we will give all the money recovered from these people to the less privilege ones amongst the brethren. We are also proposing a Bill to the House of Assembly that all M.O.G's should stick to their salaries and any gift (s) brought to them should be screened. In that bill, we also stated that any Church owned by any individual Pastor should be automatically given to the community to run. The Church should be seen as a charity organisation and not for some individualistic gains.

, I will update you soon as we go further,

Christianity EtcRe: Ramadan: I Don’t Fast, Will I Be Punished? by paris10: 8:21pm On Aug 13, 2010
I do not fast. Will I be punished on the Day of Resurrection? Fasting in Ramadan is one of the pillars on which Islam is built. Allah tells us that He has prescribed it for the believers of this ummah [nation], as He prescribed it for those who came before them

What do you guys know about resurrection? And who told you fasting is for God (Allah as Muslim would say). Fasting is not a compulsory obligation and should not be imposed on one regardless of religion.

You only fast to free people that are in bondage, to atone for your sins, to draw more closer to God and get rid of bad habits. Fasting should be a personal thing or if you belong to any society, a declaration from your head.

Day of resurrection, the day when Jesus will come to the earth and take with him those that believes in God and His only son (whether dead or alive).
Fasting is not a prerequisite to gaining heaven. Your attitude or good deed will not also gain you heaven, but rather your believe in God and Jesus His son. This is all thats required by God. Immediately you confess Jesus to be your Lord and Personal saviour, you are free from every religious obligation like fasting and praying five times a day. You'd also be free from the illusion of the 99 virgins or there about waiting for you to devour.

Your stony heart would then be replaced by a heart of flesh , thereby making it clean as white as a wool. You'd then receive the peace of God that no man can give you. You'd then begin to relate with God as your friend, Father, creator, giver etc instead of what you now know HIM to be. The Holy Spirit would then begin to impact your mortal body and transform you from an ordinary being to a more supernatural one full with grace and power.

Wind don blow and fowl yansh don open. Now, I see u for who you are. I thought your thread was about having a honest intellectual discussion. Didn't know you are a prejudiced tribal-war monger whose aim is to belittle non-Yoruba tribes. I doubt if you digested my previous post b4 posting your prejudice-ridden crap. I should have ignored your useless thread from the beginning - like many did, after u claimed Yoruba to be the most spoken language abroad after English, but I thought otherwise. Now, I seriously doubt if you've ever stepped foot out of that your village in "United States". You are wrong kid, if you think posting threads like this would help solve your low self-esteem issues.

Btw, what the 4uck do you mean by "Muslim speaking countries"? Let me guess, you are from a "Christian speaking Yoruba country", abi?

If the majority of African countries where the Hausa language is spoken are "Muslim speaking countries", so what? how does that change the fact that Hausa is more widely spoken in 9ja and in Africa than Yoruba?

If Hausa lack world wide acceptance because of -as you mentioned -"the violence associated with them", why then would international broadcasting media giants such as VOA, BBC, Radio France, Radio Moscow, Deutchwelle Radio, Radio Beijing etc. have Hausa broadcasting services?
If your Yoruba language has "world wide acceptance" , why is it that non of these international media giants broadcast their programs in Yoruba?

Do you even know that Hausa is the most spoken language (indigenous) in Africa after Swahili? Btw, I don't belong to any of the 3 major tribes in 9ja, but I feel proud to come from a country where the majority of this tribe reside. If it had been Yoruba, Igbo or any other tribe in 9ja , it wont matter to me. I doubt if prejudice would ever let you feel the same, so continue wallowing in your little tribalistic world.

My previous post:
Hey, wats really your 'P'? Did i tell you I don't know much about the Igbos or the Hausa's? Just asking a question here, What I expected of you is to disclaim my write up and address the issue intellectually and not by cursing. I might be wrong here ( I don't belong to any of these tribes).

My post is based upon the countries I've visited, expecially the most recognised ones. I'm not biased and I expect you not to be.

@poster

Yes, the Yorubas are the dominant Nigerian tribe abroad (West) followed by the Igbos.  There are 3 dominant tribes in 9ja and they are Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa.  However, It seems like you have never been to 9ja or at least travel around the country.

Most foreigners especially in the west think the Yorubas are the most dominant tribe in 9ja, mainly because of their large population in that part of the world.  However, what most do not know is that the most dominant  tribe in 9ja are the Hausas, hence they hold immense political power in the country. Their language is not only the most widely spoken in Nigeria , but in west Africa. The language is spoken in countries like Chad, Niger, Cameroon, Ghana, Sudan, Gabon, CAR, Gambia, Ivory Coast, Benin, Burkina Faso,Togo, Equatorial Guinea and Algeria. Hence, international  broadcasting media  like VOA, BBC, Radio France, Deutchwelle Radio, Iran Radio, Radio Moscow, and Radio Beijing broadcast their programs in Hausa, but  non has Yoruba or Igbo language in their foreign language broadcast.  In terms of sheer numbers, Hausa thus ranks as one of the world's major languages, and its widespread use in a number of countries of West Africa makes it probably the single most useful language to know in that region

The Hausas are majority Muslims due to their long historical contacts/relation with the Arabs. Their emigration pattern to abroad is more towards the Middle East, and most are not very expose to western lifestyles. The Yorubas and Igbos on the other hand, are majority Christians due to their long historical contacts/relation with the Europeans. Their emigration pattern to abroad is more towards the West, hence are more expose to western lifestyles.

Hope this info helps.
Just finished doing my research, The Hausa's dominate the political scenery (Abuja as their power seat) but lack world wide acceptance because of the violence associated with them. Majority of the other African states where Hausa is being spoken are Muslim speaking countries. Go to developed world, the first Nigerian or african language recognised by these people is the Yoruba language.

See I really don't care about where anyone of you comes from, just making a point. Even in United States where we have a large number of the Igbo people, Yoruba language is still well spoken and heard. Travel to the Uk, same thing, Canada, Australia, and most of the well organised countries, except ofcourse countries like Germany, India, China where the Igbos tend to find refuge (I heard its because of their dodgy business.)

I might be wrong, but I doubt it! Kinda noticed that the Yoruba language is the most spoken language in Nigeria and abroad besides English lang. Don't know the population of this tribe, but boy, they're every where!

Even the Nollywood Igbo superstars tend to speak this language too. Saw some of them in some Yoruba movies; they're very fluent in speaking it. Back in London and the USA, their govts are proposing introducing this language to their syllabuses.

Again, I noticed that any Nigerian Artists that does'nt include Yoruba in the lyrics of their songs is like an accident waiting to happen. Although Timaya's got his own style, he's beginning to see why he must atleast put some of the Yoruba lyrics in his song.

Why Yoruba?
FoodHw Much Is A Bag Of Garri, Beans, Semo, Elubo, Rice & Veg Oil(25kg) In 9ja Now? by paris10(op): 2:00am On Jul 31, 2010
My sister is trying to open a food stuff store in 9ja soon, but the prices she's quoting for these stuffs baffles me alot o. Imagine her telling me that a bag of Elubo (not yet processed) is #30k. Also going as far as saying a bag of beans is now #9k.

The last time I checked, rice was #4,500 and beans almost same price, let alone the elubo that is mostly consumed by the Yoruba people. Just wonder why she's putting enormous prices on something that would benefit her.

Need honest and real market price for these things people.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not of the opinion that she shouldn't gain from me, but just saying since I'm trying to set her up for life, she shouldn't be doing that.

Thanks

The visitation of his father is mre psychological than it is spiritual. Like your post read, his father abused him as a child for 17years (thats assuming the abuse started at birth). Your cousin needs to see a shrink and not a pastor. He needs to resolve the issues in his past so he can face the future.

On the issue of his mother, its nothing but over-bearing maternal love. His mum just needs to let off a little on the hold she has on him. Its all love and nothing diabolical. I suggest that your friend should sit his mum down and have a chat with her. I suspect that he is prolly her only child or only son. Either ways, your cousin needs to bridle his tongue lest he falsely accuses his mother of being a witch and behind his nightmares and loose the last remaining parent.

CultureI ThinK His Mum Is A Witch!!! If Not, Then Why Is She Doing These........... by paris10(op): 1:45am On Jul 29, 2010
I have this cousin that lost his Dad seven years ago. But since his Dad death, there has been constant dream of my cousin seeing his dad beating him up.

My cousin is a Christian and a very good one for that matter. Most times, during heated praying and fasting exercise, his dad would not show up, but some times, he does!

My Cousin felt he could not handle this alone and went to his Pastor. His Pastor read no meaning to it other than pray alongside him. Although for the past weeks his dad has not been visiting, my cousin felt there's more to this.

My cousin was abused as a child by his father until he was 17. Now my cousin felt his Mother is behind this dream as she wants him to live with her. My cousin moved out of his Mum's house five years ago, and found himself there again after just 4 Months. His Mum called his girlfriend and reigned curses on her that her son now seldom  come to her house due to the girls involvement. She threatened the girl that if she did not leave her son alone she'd join her mum in heaven. Soon after, they broke up.

Now my cousin is planning getting married next year and needs a house of his own. But his mum wants him to buy her a car and also complete her housing project in Nigeria before thinking of moving out of her house. My cousin is 29. My cousin says he's suspicious of his mum and often thinks his mum is behind those visits by his father.

I'm a bit terrified and don't know what to do. We've prayed and prayed, but now think we have to confront the mum. He's got his life to live and the mum should just back off.

And finally, anytime my cousin think of moving out, there's always something somewhere that stops him.

Pls help people! Can someone pls come up with the meaning of this dream, and the mum's attitude.

Pls Nairalanders, help!
Paris100,

I dont know if i'll make heaven if i continue in my tithing neither do i know if it will lead me to hell if i dont tithe, but one thing i know is Jesus opened his mouth to rebuke the Pharisees (like you, me, nuclearboy, KunleOshob, Image123, et al) for choosing to honor some part of God's word at the expense of the other.

The pharisees took tithing so serious like it was everything about life and godliness, and here was Jesus saying no no no there are still other important areas like Justice for the oppressed, mercy for our offenders, faithfulness in our service to God, these things we ought to do and also as we do them we should not neglect the act of tithing too. is that not what Matt.23:23 says. The words of Jesus carry life and has the power to reconcile man to God, maybe if i continue in my act, i could be justified like Abraham's 'simple' obedience was counted to him for righteousness. have you heard the song "trust and obey"?  cheesy cheesy cheesy

Greedy and stingy folks who will rather eat up their bread and seed and turn back to accuse MOGs for their woes and afflictions they are suffering in the body of Christ. how pathetic!  grin grin grin Maybe i should even quote my favorite verse of the NT again sef
 grin grin grin

King James Version) Matt.23:23

23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone[tithing].
Why do something you have absolutely no idea about? Are you paying tithe because your Pastor say so or because you're convinced Jesus told you to do so? And why emphasis on Matt 23:23? Why dwelling on tithe and not the most important thing Jesus said in the same verse of scripture?

Why can't we just make the world a simple and better place for all to live without necessarily sounding religious. The greatest commandment of all is 'love your neighbour as you would yourself'. Jesus is that love, so lets preach love and leave behind this so-called religious law of old.

Don't you know that Jesus was himself born into law? When he came, he couldn't do away with it, except he be gone! Oh boy, did he not just did  just that! Halleluyah!!!

Lets preach Christ (love), give to the poor and stop acting like the Pharisees who thinks they're righteous by paying tithe.

bee444:
I've never heard a man say a girls mouth is pretty with a cigarette hanging on it, and neither I've I ever heard a girl say  she'd delete her male friends contacts off her mobile phone!

I was not expecting what I'd passed through these past few years. I thought I was on a roller-coaster jolly-ride to successes and breakthroughs. From then on, my thought was born!

God has designed this world in a way that will suit us as long as we understand the fundamental principle that governs it. I'm not any way trying to preach or sound like a Pastor today, but just want to draw us to the attention that this God we serve is somewhat partial and undefended.

I've always resent those of other faiths and beliefs before now, and often criticising them of not sharing my own belief. We always have the idea of how a Christian should sound like and behave, the Pastors also having the idea of how his flocks should be. Religion is not for sale, but a given.

We often live in past glory, but past glory is proven not to be enough in this current dispensation. Jesus upset the money lenders, particularly the red blooded blocs; Jesus was himself red blooded.

God does not need to be defended. He understands our plight and knows our shortcomings. Think of the people Jesus particularly invited to dine with him; the love-peddler, the tax collector, the prosecutor and so on. God enjoys those people we detest.

So, why are we now so enraged and bitter about those unbelievers that are making it big? Is their blessings not from God? . Is their not going to Church or confessing Jesus as their lord and personal saviour leaves them in doom?  And finally, is their not confessing Jesus has anything to do with getting rich and making it big? I don't think so.

Becoming a successful person in this world is got nothing to do with going to Church and confessing Jesus; a bit controversial you'd all say. There are thousands of insane things to believe out there. Is our lives just gonna be blown away like a candle, or be evaporated like a fading smoke? What are even the guarantees we do hold concerning the life after death? What if what we've been told were totally a myth or some sort of fabrications?

This is why we have faith which has been tested and trusted. The Spirit of God in us; the power of conviction, the instant miracles and answers we receive to our petitions: these testify of the existence of God and HIS power that manifest through us.

Concerning the partiality of God, think about this yourself, You fast, pray and do all that is required to gain favour of God, but no, HE gave it to some unbeliever. Can we then buy Gods favour and blessings? The answer is yes, do what the unbelievers are doing; give to the poor.   Some of us have been brainwashed that if we don't pay our tithe or give offering to the Church, we won't receive from God. This is a pathological lie that comes from the pit of hell.

The unbelievers are getting richer because they understand the principle of giving to the poor, while the Church goers are finding it difficult to make ends meet because they are just being religious.

And finally, we do not become rich and wealthy because we are Christians, We become rich and wealthy because we understand the principle of getting rich. Why serve God some would say?. We worship God for eternal salvation and get rich on earth if we are as wise as the unbelievers.
That is funny grin

REAL TRUTH:
You obviously have a mental problem,,and am surprised why your pastor haven't healed you yet! This is exactly how your pastors wants you to be thinking. Does have a private makes you wealthy or poor? My prayer is that God should mercilessly deal with these pastors messing up peoples ability to think and reason.
Your church has 3 privatr jets? of what use is it for? what do they produce? ,,Do you know Warren Buffet who happens to be the ruchest man in the world at a time and now the second richest man in the world does not have a private jet?
Do you know he actually owns a company that manufactures private jets yet he does not have one to himself? I will rather listen and learn from Warren Buffet than paying any attention to the criminals parading themselves as pastors in nigeria,,,so called men of God merchandising in the name of the Lord and making God's name to be ridiculed,,,
Even multinatinational/multibilion companies in the US re asking their chief executive officers to drop their private jets in order to cut cost,,,but some silly knitwitt would contribute their hard earned money to criminals who will buy jet from such contribution,,
, Just need someone to tell me otherwise, is it me alone that thinks this tithe thing is getting more attention that it actually deserves? Jesus only made mention of tithe throughout his time on earth once (that shows how insignificant tithe is)

Abeg make una tell me o, does that mean if you don't pay tithe, no heaven be that? Na wetin concern me most be that. If the answer is no, then sr*w tithe then.

GNBohr:
Why is Christianity so controversial and volatile amongst Christians. The faith has been overwhelmingly denominated to the extent that churhes dont see eye to eye in their mode of worship and preachings. This idea of getting a call has become so fraudulently applied that you wonder what these calls are all about. Different versions of the bible that do not seem to be saying the same thing on issues makes the whole religion confusing.

Take this for consideration: celestial church goers cant worship in cherubim and seraphim; CAC will not worship in Apostolic Faith; Jehovah's Witness will not worship in any other church; Assembly of God totally distance from Church of Latter Saints; Anglican will not worship in Catholic, Methodist is averse to Baptist, Presbyterians will not go to worship in African Church of Christ, the Pentecostals are worst, Redeemers stay off Winners, RHEMA averse to Deeper Life, KICC is not worshiping with Love World; Latter Rain members will not touch Household of God for worship. Synagogue is a different case entirely. You can continue till JESUS comes.

Yet they are all christians, they are all churches, they are all pastors, reverends, archbishops, prophets, cardinals, etc. The faith has become polarised, diluted and corrupted with human minds and interests. These interests include politics, culture, tradition, heresy, commerce, sexualism, regionalism, tribalism, cultism and professional consultancy.

That is why church has become a huge socio-economic organisation with mission statements, visions, targets, business principles and policies, operational strategies, business development models, expansionism and diversification plans and programmes. The goals have become profit oriented, publicity and advertisement, product innovations and packaging, mergers and acquisitions.

In Nigeria, while commercial businesses are collapsing, the church businesses are booming, the former premises of commerce have being taken over by church branches, chapels, parishes and chapters. Where there is poverty and deprivation, church business grows. Where there is ignorance and lack of study, lies, concoction and manipulations rules. The real BIBLE says my people perishes for lack of knowledge. An African idiom says, in the land of blind people, a one-eyed person becomes the ruler.

Nigerians go to school but dont study, dont research, dont query, dont analyse, dont show objectivity, dont antagonise, very complacent, very timid and feeble minded, dont display intelectual capability when it comes to religion. That is why they remain experimental tools in the hands of challatans calling themselves men of GOD. The question is who is not a man of GOD and who will call himself a man of Devil.

Search me!!!!!!
You're well bang on points bro! To the issue of ''call'', Only Nigerians fall for these people who always claim to have received from God to open their own Church!

We are called by God to render services in area in which we're good at. Only lazy, timid, complacent Nigerians refuse to understand and know who God really is.
That boldened part actually got me LMBO at least i finally found me-self an intelligent ~~,  grin grin why should i quote from the same version as you did come to think of it has he quoted any scriptures so far?

my friend, Jesus did not quote that passage as a figure of speech (be it simile, meta4 or whatever) he was straight on it, he rebuked the hypocrites for trying to put so much emphasis on things that mattered almost little at the expense of things that mattered.

The pharisees where known to be keen observers of the commandments of God (law) and this they did in a detailed matter that they began to add their own doctrines called the "traditions of men", for instance they paid tithe to look 'righteous' before men but not to fulfill its very essense which is to honor God.

with time they continued doing those things that men see with the physical eyes to gain respect and honor, but to the detriment of important issues like caring for needy person (mercy), fighting for the oppressed (justice), and following steadfast in their relationship with God (faithfulness), when Jesus saw this he rebuked them for wanting to look good by giving tithes, but refused to give attention to areas that mattered too hence that passage

lets see it again (ok! for the sake of respect i'll quote your version) grin grin

Matt 23:23-28

23 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices — mint, dill and cummin [keeness to keep the minute part of God's commandment] . But you have neglected the more important matters of the law — justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former [what is the former? Tithe of course, did he condemn its practise? No of course!].

24 You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

25 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.

26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

27 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean.

28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

so you see, he did not condemn tithe as a practise, rather he condemned their hypocrisy[pretense] and quest for appearing righteous outside at the expense of the inside man. (you need to see the translation of this passage in the version i use - self expanatory) cheers!  cheesy cheesy
Hey my friend, I wasn't referring to Bible versions, just pointing out what Jesus meant in Matt 23:23. Like I clearly stated, I wouldn't want to quote the Bible to cumber this post. This is my final reply to you, don't wanna get into any sort of argument with you.

Be blessed.
Maybe i should also come to think or preach that Jesus was also incompetent and fraudelent to teach the people to continue tithing  tongue. or maybe i should also go back and check out just what the Jesus said about tithing  embarassed

Matt.23:23:. . . and Jesus continued by saying assuredly  i say unto you practise justice, practise mercy, practise faithfulness and also do not neglect to practise tithing

And to say our free-thinker friend should go on thinking reprobacy goes to tell me that Oshob can maybe add free-thinking to his CV after subscribing to 'gnosticism', 'anti-tithing' and 'anti-trinity' even in the glares of scriptures, it sure goes to tell me just what kind of mind you possess, free-thinking of course  grin grin. i just dont pray my dear friend and brother wakes up one day to tell us God doesnt exist  tongue  grin grin
Now I know that people are just as ignorant as themselves! Matt 23:23, ' "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former''., Stop quoting out of context!

How come the Mathew you quoted is totally different from the one I just quoted? Let me lecture you on what Jesus actually mean by the highlighted words above, A figure of speech is a use of word that diverges from its normal meaning, such as simile, metaphor or personification. Jesus's statement in Matt 23:23 was an Irony! It was totally a sarcastic gesture from Jesus towards the scribes and Pharisees.

A typical Nigeria example would be, '' You give that policeman egunje, why you no kuku give that custom man too make we 4 know say you complete the bribery thing. You should have done what you did for the police man without neglecting the former!, This is called sarcasm!

Anoda mumu   on the rampage , must you mention names?olodo.
I believe u're better than your comments! You should however be more cultured and refined in responding to posts and articles. Start acting like a civilized person!

I am at the same time appalled by the total erosion of the sense of value and dignity in you. However, I think you are a good person! Mentioning names tells you I intend to hit points and not be afraid to say what is right.
