This is exactly the point i'm making! Can't you for once say something or write something intellectual without involving God in it? Most Nigerians believe in God and so do I, but for God sake, use your God-given talent and come up with something more educational.

I have not in anyway say anything bad about anyone, but just making a statement.

One area alot of us fail is that we look up to these men to be perfect as well as in their deeds, whereas folks like Apostle Peter even made several errors yet was loved by God.

Sorry to disappoint you. i'm not your regular Nigerian Church goer. I am a thinker. How do you expect to succeed without asking question? Pls cut the bullslot, don't tell me to read Mal 3:8-10, Mathew 23:23, Neh 7 and the rest in order to understand the tithe theory.

Do I need anyone to tell me that these so-called are doing the ''work of God''? And when did criticising them now becomes 'touch not my anointed'?

Are we so blind and narrow-minded that we've failed to realise that God has given us  free mind to think and analyse? And why on earth would an inspirational and motivational words be taken as the 'move of the spirit'? Did you all know that Oyakhilome et al reads and study books written by unbelievers who believes that everything has principles and the keys to unlock that potentials and prosperity is you?

Why then are we so deceived? No, we are not! We are just so lazy and ignorant of the fact that consuming ourselves and spending almost all our time in church adds to our ignorance. Go to the 'STUDY' of these Pastors, you'd be amazed what you see! You shouldn't be silly enough to accuse me of not believing that serving God is good. Just that the manipulation and the brainwashing of the brethren got to stop!

Not so fast! You'd notice I haven't yet quoted from the scripture, I won't! I want us to reason together and use our common sense. There are countless and numerous solutions to most problem without necessarily going on hunger strike or letting it all out to our Pastors if we could just relax and think positively.

To the Issue of Miracles, It does happen and occur everyday. Getting saved, living on divine healing, seeing people surviving dangerous stunts and accidents are miracle wonders! Which is not Miracle?,  Camping people and housing them for weeks and making them believe that one day they'd relieve one is totally and mentally  a rip off, this is the work of a Psychiatrist and a Psychologist.

To the conscious mind, the moment you realise or told that something negative or positive is about happening to you, you react to that news in either way! Reaction formation is an intriguing defence mechanism. In Psychometric psychology it is considered to be an index of speed of processing. Lets not go too deep into that. What I'm saying here is, alot of these so-called Pastors mess up with the minds of their flocks so badly that they even get confused.

Believe this or not, Pastors only say 50% of the truth whenever they're on the pulpit, and the rest of the 50% to their wives and fellow bible scholars. Why would you know when you've never attended a theological seminar or even attempt to go to a bible school? But be very careful, not everything is also said in Bible schools especially when that Bible school belongs to that Church.

Poverty in big Churches,  More than 70% of all the big Churches congregational members lives below the poverty line. Check out your intercessors, look around you, study your group. The rich ones are the shrewd ones that lives on false pretence. Where are your tithes going?.Ps, I never mentioned your offering because it is use to maintain the Church.

Note: The Church gives to charity, no doubt about that, but on what percentage? 2% of the total offering and tithe. Aren't the Church suppose to level or bridge the gap between the rich and poor? I suppose not in this dispensation!!! Pastors now boast of the earnings and gifts, dedicating expensive cars week in week out, some of them are even buying jets. Lets cut the crap, ok, don't tell me or start quoting the Bible that ' the workman is blah blah blah'. Aint the workers in the Church part of the workforce? I've never heard a Church buying a car or building a house for its less privileged member! The only building they'd announce is another branch of the Church, your tithe contribution.


These Pastors never wanted to be this selfish, but subconsciously, they became greedy and arrogant.Wake up people! Criticize me if you want, we cannot deceive God. Wisdom is needed in whatsoever thing we do. I go to church, listen to pastors, get blessed under them but don't pay my tithe, all depends on your level of understanding of the scripture, topic for another time.


Are you now telling me that the likes of Bill Gates, Carlos Slim Helu,Warren Buffet and Lawrence Ellison (world richest men) who don't pay tithes but does only  charity works would not enter the kingdom of God?Think again!

With no disrespect to anyone's belief, I think most Nigerians (this time Muslims) are ignorant to the fact that going to Mecca or Hajj doesn't and will never be a pre-requisite to gaining God's favour.

Enough emphasis has been relayed to this issue and often times most Yoruba Muslims have been misinformed of this reality. I have of recent interviewed enough Muslims and all they say was "going to hajj would bring God's blessing on you", totally and utterly rubbish! Christians who go to Jerusalem are called JP's; Alhaja & Alhaji for the Muslims who visit Mecca. Visiting or going to these places doesn't give you an edge over your fellow brethren but rather gives you a title. A title is just a prefix or suffix attached to your name without necessarily changing God's opinion of you.

Jerusalem and Mecca are only historical places for reference purposes and not to be misunderstood with God's plan for your life. It does not make you more spiritual (except at the time of visiting), and after then you're back to your normal self. They are of no value than Museums and Art galleries which are used for reference and historical purposes. I however do argue that the fashion tooth's (gold or silver) these Alhaja's/Alhaji's decorate their mouth with are mere piece of jewellery with no spiritual undertone.

An average Nigerian spend close to #500,000 for hajj operations whilst looking forward to a drastic change of fortune after then. Thousands have been disappointed but still happy they made the journey; thanks to the double silver tooth.

My point: Going to Mecca is not and should never be a compulsory journey you have to make (, a lot of you would argue other wise and back it up with some hadith's). Our God is an awesome God and will never place such a task to one in a different country other than yours.

Pls note Yoruba Muslims, Arabic is a language and should never be placed above your yoruba language! God understands every language in the world and will never tell you to pray or seek Him in a particular language.

I think the truth has definitely eluded you. Just because the Indians, brazilians and the Greek advertises their goddesses and gods doesn't make it any less better to that of the Yoruba's or Nigeria in general.

The fact that the western countries do portray themselves as sexual dogs on scenes doesn't give us that freedom to always showcasing our voodooism.

I tell you, these past few days, my mum is beginning to get worried about the same issue raised here. She is a great lover and supporter of quality cultural Yoruba movies and does rent upto 10 to 15 movies each week.

However, she's now beginning to get irritated by the amount of lack of self-belief of the producers and the use of almost same story line . She told me and I quote " Did you know that out of the 40 DVD's I've watched so far, only 1 doesn't contain a babalawo scene?" Oh boy, that was a lot!

I'm a lil bit concern as I don't know what message the producers are trying to get across.

This thread is a very sensitive one, and a lot people are taking it personal; especially those that comes from a babalawo background or have anything to do with them.

Culture is culture and should be respected, no doubt about that. @poster is only soliciting for a reduced appearance of babalawos in Yoruba movies, let us therefore either support or be against it without being sentimental about it.

This is a huge concern on my part as well. The English version of the Nigerian movie industry are trying as much as they can to either reduce or eliminate the use of occults or black powers in their movies. I just wonder what is actually going on in the head of their Yoruba movie counterpart?

They seems to encourage rather than discourage the use of black powers. I believe Yoruba movie producers would rather stick to the status quo rather than challenge it. For they themselves are victims of these so-called traditional powers. I also do believe that education has a lot to do with it. For almost 60% of the Yoruba casts and producers/directors are half-educated.

The Christians amongst them are not strong Christians but those that believes in the use of black powers. For according to some of the actors/actresses, they said you have to protect yourself by all means to be successful or live in the industry.

Pastors are money mongers and selfish. They are greedy and boastful. They exaggerate always and often repeat testimonies you've heard from other Pastors.

They come to the pulpit and testify of the Lord's goodness and blessings in their lives, but often fail to bless thier sheeps with such blessings (money wise).

Thank God for your family!  Who defines what is OK and what is not? Millions of people are out there looking and begging for what to eat (one square meal a day is enough for these people), you guys are busy contemplating on what to eat out of your abundance.

I believe it is God who has provided your family with the abundance, but don't let your happiness or abundance  make other people sad.

If I ate garri for breakfast, lunch and dinner, I should still be thankful; it does make me strong. We only eat to refresh ourselves. Don't believe the hype; the media and the nutritionists have made us to believe that repeating meal in a day is bad, I beg to differ.

However, eating 3 different meal a day is what all us desire and its definitely a blessing.

This is actually a very good question! Your Pastor is not in any way superior to you. Only in Nigeria would a Pastor remain unquestionable regardless of the doubt surrounding his behaviour or act.

Putting two rings on both hands is not a conflicting factor, but mounting the pulpit with such would definitely raise an eye brow. Let the pastors explain themselves. Let the congregation be pretty clear about some uncertainties in the Church. Be it spiritually, educationally or mentally, it has always been a human thing to question uncertainties.

If Jesus came down today and perform some miracles that are scientifically and humanly impossible once again, I'd question the source of his power. It is not a sin and neither is there a law or scripture that prohibits humans from asking questions and wanting to know.

Feel free to ask your pastor anything as long as you're not asking him if those children of his are really his. Take a tape recorder with you o, for evidence.
