Yenefer:Hello, you seem to have no difficulty playing with diction and that's quite commendable. No doubt, you must be learned. |
Yenefer:Thumps up to you! |
Religion is 99% of our problem. We all are doomed for it. Worst is, there is no remedy in site. The most painful thing is that the Europeans who brought this same religious belief have since jettisoned it but the pastors here in Nigeria are cashing out big time from it so they keep selling fake tales to their gullible and shallow minded followers. Quite regrettable indeed. sarrki: |
My brother I am in same shoes with you but I did mine in Ireland and still have additional years to stay here. It's really not easy and I can understand how hard you must have worked to save up that. Please be wise when investing in Nigeria and please seek other wise counsel outside here too before making decision. I don't know of any investment but my concern is that you invest wisely considering what you passed through to save that money. God bless us all. Amen |
quintessence007:How are you doing? |
seniormallam:That's 500€ |
My brother, I wish you well in your pursuit to come Ireland but after phone calls from course mates and friends here in Dublin, I was advised to hands off from responding here again. I got WhatsApp messages and PM from some of you but will never respond again. I will come here to read and that's all. Once again I wish you all success. DonMecasino: |
justwise:Lol..It will be wrong to dare you for challenge by showing scanned copy of passport pages. All the same wish you all the best. |
@justwise can't serve as a stumbling bloc on my way. I am even motivated than ever to dish out write-ups here on my travails, experience and happy moments here ever since I arrived here in Ireland. But tonight will be my ugly experience from this same thread here on nairaland. It happened with my first post here. A newly admitted student of National college of ireland called segun by name and is also seeing this too, contacted me on WhatsApp. Lol...same WhatsApp justwise is fighting me for. We got chatting and he arrived Ireland. One thing led to another and I offered to allow him stay with me pending when he gets a place. I don't know him from Adam other than he is a Nigerian and has been newly admitted. Did my little best to make sure he was ok while staying with me. To cut long story short, I was at place of work in the wee hours of the night when he ringed me. "Hello! Oscar I don dey go ooo...I don get a place. Taxi don come pick my load. Where I go keep your keys?" I was like, "did I maltreat this guy in any way to make him want to leave just that?" I pondered in my heart. Still trying to phantom what was going on, he repeated same question. I managed to reply him to keep it underneath a flower by the doorpost and the line went dead before I knew what was happening. I was lost in deep thought but couldn't call him back since I was still working. Well I waited till i.was done. Immediately I boarded Luas(train) I placed a call. Segun my guy narrated how he saw a nice place and all that and wanted to move in before someone else gets the place. So I replied, "segun you for at least wait make I follow you go check am to see if it's nice". He replied," the landlady dey stay the house and the bed na big bed too. She say I go get another person to share the bed with me". Still on phone I laughed. "Segun if a guy like you say make Una dey share same bed wetin go come your mind? You no go think say the guy na gay? "Chai, Oscar this thing no come my mind ooo...chai I don Bleep up! Wetin I go do now?" He responded remorsefully. Then I still had this Nigerian brotherly feeling. As I speak to you it was almost 1:30am. "Go meet the lady wey get house and tell her you don change your mind. That you need your money back. After that get a taxi and return back to my place. Tomorrow we go go check other places for house". ... I will continue my experience with my Nigerian folks here tomorrow when I am back from work. Stay tuned. This is a lesson to other students to avoid certain people if you must succeed. I am happy he is seeing this to counteract me or confirm my experience with him staying me. @justwise own is by the way. I understand what's going on with him. Stay tuned guys! And please comment here if you want too but please don't send me WhatsApp messages abeg ooo |
justwise:You are just hating bro. Bless God for others and see God lift you up too. I would have asked for your details here but for humility so you don't tag me a braggart I would say we meet anytime I am back home. All the best all the same. No bad feelings. |
I understand your frustration. I have never asked for anything from anyone and never will. One of them chatted me on WhatsApp today narrating his tales and I gave him my advise and it ends there. He can bear me witness too. Please channel your frustrations elsewhere. I am the least of your worries. Snipper isn't that expensive. Use one! Guy, I know how life has been unfair to you down there and the frustration from the current government but please I am not responsible. Times are tough now in Nigeria but please hold your government accountable not me. justwise: |
Please I am planning to settle down next year by God's grace. Tried my sisters back home and it hasn't been a good tale to tell. Please if you are a female based outside Nigeria and ready to settle down, please send me DM. My location is Europe. I mean serious relationship only and must NOT be based in Nigeria for reasons best known to me. Thanks |
Congrats to all those who have secured their visas and I say a warm welcome to the Republic of Ireland. Someone prior before now has already stated the procedures to settling down here on arrival and so there won’t be need for me to repeat same. I am only going to give my advise based on personal experience. Please let it be noted here that whatsoever I state here is entirely my personal opinion and remains that way. First, I will start with the positive sides. Ireland is a nice place to study and work with lots of opportunities. If you are the hardworking type and not extravagant, be rest assured that you will be able to meet your personal needs and still have a sizeable amount as savings too. The country is to a gross extent highly secured, good infrastructure and lots of other features associated with first world countries. No doubt, you will find it worthwhile studying and working here in Ireland. To the other side of the coin, Ireland like everywhere else won’t give you what you deserve but that which you fight for. What do I mean? There is nothing like empathy here. No one gives a damn about you. You are entirely responsible for everything concerning you. Imagine your landlord or landlady wave at you as she drives pass you just as you stand at the bus top waiting for the Dublin bus even though she heading same direction as you. Please don’t misunderstand it all. It’s just their communal principle I guess. It’s same thing we call OYO. No one fucking cares if you exist. So please do not come here thinking empathy will get you anywhere. Nope it won’t. You will only get what you truly fought for and rightfully deserve. . Secondly, racism here is taking a whole new dimension. Here in Ireland they don’t exhibit it openly but rather do so in what I would tag a polite way. What would you call a situation where it’s rare to see them sit next to you inside the bus except mostly in scenario where the bus is filled up and there isn’t any space left? My brother, please don’t feel bad when you experience this cause you are most obviously going to witness such from time to time. It’s just a norm for them here with the elderly ones exempted. The older ones can easily identify with you but same isn’t the situation with the younger folks. So please brace up and start developing thick skin cause you are obviously going to need that here. For those of you that will be retiring home from work at odd hours of the night, please turn deaf ears to junkies if you ever come across them. This problem is not peculiar to Ireland only. Is everywhere but my advise is that you turn deaf ears to their rantings if you ever come across them for your personal safety. Lastly, please carry yourselves as ambassadors of Nigeria. Keep the flag flying here and refrain from acts capable of denting our already battered image as a country. I once scolded a fellow able bodied Nigerian fellow who has made it a habit of begging at odd hours of the night at the city center. On the pretense of been stranded and needed financial assistance to get home. I first fell for it only for him to come again another night unknowing it was me. But for the fact that we are same national I would have called the Garda officials who were close proximity from where I was to effect his arrest. Please for the newbies, if you ever come across him at odd hours of the night, don’t fall for that gimmick as he only approaches black guys. Ireland is a land of opportunities. Lots of both blue and white collar jobs. Work hard and be proud of your humble beginning. It’s never ever going to be easy. I repeat, it won’t be easy at first but with time as time passes by, things will begin to work for your good IF and ONLY IF you are steadfast and hardworking. Please avoid toxic friends here. Trust me they are much here. I know many who started very focused at first and then as time passes by they lost it and it’s now jamboree. Always remember your family And where you come from. Don’t ever be carried away with staying in Ireland cause that’s not achievement. Making it in Ireland and coming back home to assist your family and folks in whatever possible is the real achievement. One last comment, for the guys, if you have a serious relationship back home, please do not jettison it cause here, their young white girls mostly prefer their white guys. Ireland isn’t fully ripe like the UK and America when it comes to inter racial relationships and marriage. For my newbies sisters, as funny as it may sound, 99% percent of the time these white folks will accost you is just for paid bedroom pleasure and nothing more. Sadly enough, this has turned few of our female folks here into something else. But notwithstanding, sizeable proportion of them still hold sway in high esteem and seriously committed in exhibiting high levels of morality imbibe in our African culture. So please don’t leave that poor guy back home with the hope that you will catch one sweet clean white dude here..lol Congratulations to all those that have been granted their visas and my wish and prayer is for those awaiting theirs will be granted too. One love! |
Tried Nigerian ladies back home twice but distance and the believe in materialism isn’t making it work. I need a Nigerian lady based abroad too in any part of Europe or North America for serious relationship that could lead to marriage. You must be a professional working lady and based abroad. My location is Dublin Ireland. PM me as I can’t drop my contact here for privacy concern. Must be based abroad too and I am ready to meet with you and then we take it from there. |
FreeSpirited:I believe you are still young. You need a purpose driven life. Better still you need a job and some other responsibilities as a man to keep you busy and focused. |
clive2u:I pray your dream come through. Amen |
clive2u:Lol...don’t tell me you want to work there cause of cheap drink |
clive2u:Lol...Excessively cheap. Ireland is home Guiness and Diageo. |
AwkaetitiBabe:That’s not true. I am legally based in Dublin Ireland. I didn’t drop email or phone number cause of privacy concern. I only indicated interest cause it’s hard to get true love from a lady back home. Most of them only pretend to love you cause of the fact that you stand a chance to get relocated abroad once you marry them and other privileges that comes with living abroad in a developed country. I sincerely indicated interest for two reasons. Firstly, she is based abroad and secondly the UK is very close to me here in Ireland. I can make out time during the weekend to see her or the reverse. So my sister, not everyone on nairaland is a gold digger. Some people come here to read happenings back home during their leisure moment. |
citadels:Me too. I am proudly Igbo but have nothing to do with a criminal masquerading as leader. |
Hi, I am Nigerian male legally based in Dublin Ireland. Settling down is on my mind now but with the right and serious lady. I am ready for us to meet up. Hoping to hear from you. Would have love to drop my contact details here but for privacy concern. |

Onyi22:Leave me a message |
slimdaddy2822:That would be the right step in the right direction but the chances are second to zero if you ask me. All thanks to our country of origin, Nigeria. Also beware of scammers who pose as potential employers in Ireland seeking for young gullible minds to deceive. Truth is, try get a student visa and then when you are here you can take it up from there. My own opinion though. |
slimdaddy2822:Do not attempt that. I repeat do not attempt such so you don’t end up regretting it. There is a PPSn number given to all legal registered residents with which you can work legally and get taxed. Coming to Ireland illegally will make you work for a job called under G or cash at hand. You remain illegal and mostly at the mercy of Nigerian restaurants who pay as little as €50 per day. Above all, you remain illegal and dent your travel history which makes it pretty difficult for you moving to another country. Lastly, do NOT attempt that for your own good. Thank you |
