Thank you.
Hmm, what a generation. Left home cos his father chastise him for curling his hair?

The behavior of kids these days makes u wonder about the future, and many parents are to blame. Parents be asking themselves where they got it wrong when things goes out of hand when all d while they overpamper n spoil their kids.

Nothing happens all of a suden, most often than none the foundation is already destroyed.

The bible says when the foundation be destroyed what can the righteous do?

NB Hope he be found, though the parent needs to take drastic actions if they dont want to experience worst.

ValentineMary:
If your concept of a God is someone who threatens humans with fire just to make them worship him, then he has lost the tittle "All powerful", because he is just being worshiped under duress and not because of his great power. If your concept of a God is a being who would burn someone in hell simply because he/she was not lucky to be born to a particular tribe, he has lost the title "All loving".

Think about this.
No one who is worshiping God in truth is out of fear, those that do do not know God. Hell wasnt made for man bt the devil, bt for the first rebellion disobedient men are now plunged into same faith as the devil.

NB This is what the bible teaches, save u dont believe the bible?

Does that make any difference? The original sin is still supposed to make her impure. Too impure infact to conceive baby Jesus unless she went through some prior clensing before conceiving Jesus.
I guess u just dont want to get it right? Her human purity do not count at all, but d symbol of virginity.

NB A virgin still remains a virgin irrespective, even if she steals her virginity remains intact. Virgin symbolizes purity which was what was/is been considered. Though I personally believed Mary was morally upright, but thats not the point.

Geist:
On the first of January, myself and two other friends decided to start our new year celebration with God and so decided to go to church. One of my two friends is of the Catholic faith while the other attended a new generation church(Day star I think). I personally, am yet to commit to any one faith, though I tend to lean towards Catholicism. Anyway we ended up attended a Catholic church and coincidentally the Catholics were celebrating a feast they called "Mary, mother of God" and the priest who preached decided to preach on the subject quoted above. Right from the start of the homily, my "day star" friend showed his discontent with what the priest was saying. Is reason for discontent was not only the fact that catholics call Mary, mother of God but also the claim by Catholics that Mary was perpetually a virgin and that Mary was born without sin. This soon turned into a full blown discussion when we got home after church. While we were having breakfast and the new year merry was on, my friends argued while I just played the referee. It was for this same reason I have been reluctant to commit to any faith. I didn't want anybody accusing me of blasphemy as they both seem to be accusing themselves. In the heat of this argument a question came up that pricked my reasoning. My protesting friend asked my Catholic friend why the bible will go through what he described as great lengths to mention not only the prophesies of the messiah been born of a virgin but also emphasized the fact that the messiah was indeed born of a virgin but then grow quiet or whisper the perpetual virginity of Mary or her sinless nativity. According to him the bible could have very well gone through great lengths to emphasize these doctrines as well. My Catholic friend did provide his answers which bordered around how impossible it would have been for the bible to contain the level of clarity he expects on every doctrinal differences the Christian community now have and keep the level of clarity it has on doctrines they share in common. He claimed that even if it did, there is no telling if new differences wouldn't come up. He then went on to ask why my protesting friend thinks it was important for Jesus to be born of a virgin. My protesting friend seemed startled by the question and was wondering why a supposed Christian would even ask such a question. I too was surprised by the question. He (the Catholic friend) refused to give any answer to the question and asked us to meditate on it. So I decided to come to the Christian community of nairaland for possible answers. Do you think it was important for Jesus to be born of a virgin? If yes then why?. I have my own theories but would also like to know what other christians think of the question. Answers from both Catholics and protestants are needed please.

The answer u seek is so simple n direct if only u guys look at the word closely n take it wholistically.

Jesus could only have come through a virgin cos thats d only way the prophecies could be fulfilled. Ok lets go all d way back to the beginning. When Adam sinned n was rebuked with the serpent also, God gave a prophecy of Christ coming.

'I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head and thou shall bruise his heel.

Genesis 3:15

Now any bible student will know the seed being spoken of here is noi other person but Jesus Christ. Note that God said the seed of the woman and not the seed of the man, so if the one to destroy the serpent is the seed of the woman then the seed of the man need nt be joined to the woman.

We all know that the seed of the man is his sperm n d seed of the woman is her egg, so for a baby to come forth the two seeds need to combine. So for the prophecy to be fulfilled Jesus need to be born of d seed of the woman as the Holy Ghost came over the seed of the woman.

Would want to stop here n not go too deep, in conclusion, only a virgin could meet the criteria of Jesus birth n the fulfilment of the prophecy.

I don't know... what are you thinking ? The other fellow thinks I am trying to set a date for the Second Coming. Does he mean the day or hour ? No one will not know that ! And frankly, no one can even know the exact year at this point, either (you'll see that there are 3 distinct possibilities from this vantage point in time, not just one).

If you are willing to read what I pointed you to (www.unhyp.com/the-end.html), you will see that the Bible does indeed point us to the few distinct possibilities for Jesus' Return, just as the Bible did for the Jews of Jesus' day, so they would know the year of Jesus' First Appearance on the Earth. The Jewish leaders and people certainly had the needed prophecy that pointed them right to the time of Jesus' First Arrival. And as you yourself know, Jesus Himself fully expected that they should know the time of their Visitation... not by guessing, but by knowing their Word of God, and the prophecy it contained.

Believe this - it is no different for His Return. In fact, Jesus' Return is an amazing parallel of His First Visit.

Read, Brother(s) ! Don't reject before you read. It is not of the devil, as you will see if you are willing to look for Truth. It is backed up Scripture by Scripture, with no misuse or distortion, and with NO denominational anything that disagrees with the Word of God. And it doesn't cherry-pick... all surrounding aspects of the prophecy are discussed fully, Verse-by-Verse, in the document on that website.

Will it harm you ? No. Have I harmed you by typing with you ? No. I do not seek your demise, my friend. I am not asking you to eat fruit from a tree that God said "don't touch". This information is given specifically in God's Word itself... does God ever give us prophecy to know in His Word and then tell us NOT to know it ? Never ! He expects that those who Love Him will ask, seek, and knock in order TO know it !

But, if you're still unsure about reading the document I've told you about, I'll tell you what. Start small. Read the webpage itself first. Then, when that's okay, proceed to read the first document on that website about Jesus First Visitation. And only when that's okay, then proceed to the second document about Jesus' Return.

No harm will come to you. It's only when one DISagrees with God's Word that harm comes.

I wish you all Peace.
I have started reading n can see n sense ur sincerity, bt could not process why u deleted ur account?

Would have love to know u better, anyways till we meet at Jesus' feet

Christianity EtcRe: When Was Satan Driven From Heaven? by PastorOluT(m): 9:55am On Dec 30, 2015
INVINCIBLECSP:
That time finally came. A prophecy was given to this effect. Rev.12:7-12. (Note that the book of Revelation focus more on the things that will take place in the last days.). As at the time this prophecy was given, Satan still had access to heaven. Then came the real day. That appointed time. Having waited patiently, JEHOVAH gave Christ the command to rule over His enemies. And there was war in heaven. Christ and His angels chased out Satan and his demons from heaven down to the earth. How did we know that Satan has been driven down from heaven? Who saw Satan falling from heaven? None saw him because it was a spiritual battle. But the saints God, base on the anointing spirit they have, knew that Satan has been driven out of heaven. And there were physical signs. After the casting out of Satan from heaven, an angel cried out saying: "............, rejoice ye heavens......" Pointing to the earth he said "Woe to the inhabitants of the earth...... for the devil is come down unto you, HAVING GREAT WRATH...
Is this not a contradiction of what u have up there?
Note the book of revelation is prophecies of the future just as u pointed out, so how is it that what is supposed to happened at the last days as already occurred?

God's works and spirituality most of the time appears in paradox and could not be fully comprehended by our finite mind. The answer to ur question is, satan has been chased from Heaven, he is being chased from Heaven and will be finally at the end of days.

Consider this scriptures
24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
1Corinthians 15

with this

And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

Revelation 11:15

Going by this scriptures u will note that though somethings has been fulfilled spiritually, the final consummation of all things is at the end.
Christianity EtcRe: When Was Satan Driven From Heaven? by PastorOluT(m): 9:37am On Dec 30, 2015
INVINCIBLECSP:
Some are of the opinion that Satan was driven immediately after the fall of Adam and Eve. Some others says he was driven even before God created Adam and Eve. Few are of the opinion that he was driven immediately after Christ ascended into heaven. But lets view it from the scriptural perspective. When was Satan driven from heaven? It is not true that he was driven either before or after the fall of Adam and Eve. The book of Job gave the understanding that when the angels of God present themselves before God, Satan do sometimes present himself also. Job 1:6-12; 2:1-7 This clearly shows that Satan still had access to heaven even after the fall of man. What of those that believe he was cast out immediately after Christ ascended into heaven? This is also not correct. Psalm 110:1 gave the understanding that after Christ ascended into heaven, He sat at the right hand of God. He waited patiently for the appointed time in which God will give Him the command to rule over His enemies (satan)
If u try to set a particular time u will be contradicting urself just as u are doing now.
A little question for u
How do u explain the crucifixion of Christ from the foundation of the world?
Christianity EtcRe: Does Adeboye Now Believe In Canonization Of Saints? by PastorOluT(m): 9:20am On Dec 30, 2015
Your position is not clear from your posts. Does God send messages through intermediaries or not? Also, I don't know that angelic visitations 'ain't rampant anymore'. I think that depends on who you ask. Some people see angels everyday. I believe I have a guardian angel and it communicates to me all the time.
When I said intermediary I meant thru people dead or alive, and not angels. How many encounters of dead people delivering messages in the scriptures are there? A handful right, which tells us something about how God desires to deal with us.

God dealt with people based on their understanding, really will dont need physical manifestation of beings anymore cos that would much appeal to our senses. The people of old and even the early christians are are more sensual and have limited revelation which makes God appeal to their senses more to believe and understand. We are spiritual (this is not to mean the people of old are not spiritual) and thus have greater revelation believe it or not (compare the revelation of Paul and Peter), and God do not need to do much to appeal to our senses to believe. We walk by faith more and not by senses, or what do u think was the reasons for those revelations? To strengthen their faith in their walk with God, this is the reason we don't have to put salt in water anymore for the water to turn sweet as Elisha, but just believe and speak the word and things happen.

Concerning people seeing angels and guardian angels, I have seen one myself but my stance still remain that that is not a norm anymore.
Why?

That is very presumptious of you. I generally tend to state clearly that I'm making assumptions when I do. I have a wide range of notions from Most casually fanciful to die-cast belief. I don't think I've made any wild assumptions on this thread and if you know me better you would know that one thing that I resent is people who claim to second guess God or know the mind of God. It would be very hypocritical of me to then start to pontificate on the reasons that God would do anything that he does.
No need to say much on this cos like u said i dont know u, so i will be patient observing.
I'm going to go for a run and then do some stretching. I hope to be a lot looser then.
Good for u cos I hope to have a more mature discussion with u than some of ur members.

26Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Rise and go toward the southd to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is a desert place. 27And he rose and went. And there was an Ethiopian, a eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, ---Acts 8

3About the ninth hour of the daya he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God come in and say to him, “Cornelius.” 4And he stared at him in terror and said, “What is it, Lord?” And he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God. 5And now send men to Joppa and bring one Simon who is called Peter. 6He is lodging with one Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea.” 7When the angel who spoke to him had departed, he called two of his servants and a devout soldier from among those who attended him, 8and having related everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.
Acts 10
Yes this is the scripture and well agreed, do you now compare this to that of mary? And note angelic visitation ain't rampant anymore but they do exist.

Maybe u can just give me one example of an old saint that came back with message or whatever?
I am in no position to speak for God's motivations for doing whatever he does whether he is within reason or not, I know that even when there is a reason for something it does not follow that I must be aware of that reason. There are many things that perplex me and I am happy to admit that I do not see nor know the reason for them though that does not preclude the possibility that there's a reason for the events.
Surprising, but all u have been doing all the while was assuming, so why don't u employ that again?

Christianity Etc“whatever U Have Done, Whatever U Have Become, It Doesn’t Matter. Pls Come Home" by PastorOluT(op):
COME HOME

The practice of using earthly happenings to clarify Heavenly truth is no easy task. Yet, occasionally, one comes across a story, legend, or fable that conveys a message as accurately as a hundred sermons and with ten times the creativity. Such is the case with the reading below. Though read it countless times, with each reading I am newly warmed and reassured by its messages.

The small house was simple but adequate. It consisted of one large room on a dusty street. Its red-tiled roof was one of many in the poor neighbourhood of the outskirt of the Brazilian village. It was a comfortable home. Maria and her daughter, Christiana, had done what they could to add colour to the gray walls and warmth to the hard dirt floor: an old calendar, a faded photo of a relative, a wooden crucifix. The furnishings were modest: a pallet on either side of the rooms, a washbasin, and a wood-burning stove.

Maria’s husband has died when Christiana was an infant. The young mother, stubbornly refusing the opportunities to remarry, got a job and set out to raise her young daughter. And now fifteen years later, the worst years were over. Though Maria’s salary as maid afforded few luxuries, it was reliable and it did provide food and clothes. And now Christiana was old enough to get a job and help out.

Some said Christiana got her independence from her mother. She recoiled at the traditional idea of getting married young and raising a family. Not that she couldn’t have had her pick of husbands. Her olive skin and brown eyes kept a steady stream if prospects at her door. She had an infectious ways of throwing her head back and filling the room with laughter. She also has the rare magic some women have by making a man feels like a king just by being near them. But it was her spirited curiosity that made her keep all the men at arm’s length.

She spoke often of going to the city. She dreamed of trading her dusty neighbourhood for exciting avenues and city life. Just the thought of this horrified her mother. Maria was always quick to remind Christiana the harshness of the streets. “People don’t know you there. Jobs are hard and the life is cruel. And besides, if you went there, what would you do for a living?”

Maria knew exactly what Christiana would do, or would have to do for a living. Thats why her heart broke when she awoke one morning to find her daughter’s bed empty. Maria knew immediately where her daughter had gone. She also knew immediately what she must do to find her. She quickly threw some clothes in her bag, gathered up all her money, and ran out of the house.

On her way to the bus stop she entered a drugstore to get one last thing. Pictures. She sat in the photograph booth. Closed the curtains and spent all that she could on pictures of herself. With her purse full of small black-and-white photos. She boarded the next bus to Rio de Janeiro.
Maria knew Christiana has no way of earning money. She also knew that her daughter was too stubborn to give up. When pride meets hunger, a human would do things that were before unthinkable. Knowing this Maria began her search. Bars, hotels, nightclubs, any place with reputations for street hawkers and prostitutes. She went to them all. And at each place she left her picture-taped on a bathroom mirror, tacked to a hotel bulletin board, fasten to a corner phone booth. And on the back of each photo she wrote a note.

It wasn’t too long before both the money and the pictures ran out. And Maria had to go home. The weary mother wept as the bus began its long journey back to her small village.

It was few weeks later before the young Christiana descended the hotel stairs. Her young face was tired. Her bright eyes no longer dance with youth but spoke of pain and fear. Her laughter was broken. Her dream had become a nightmare. A thousand times over she had wished to trade these countless beds for her secure pallet. Yet, the little village was, in too many ways, too far away.

As she reached the bottom of the stairs, her eyes noticed a familiar face. She looked again, and there on the lobby mirror was a small picture of her mother. Christiana’s eyes burned and her throat tightened as she worked across the room and removed the small photo. Written on the back was compelling invitation. “Whatever you have done, whatever you have become, it doesn’t matter. Please come home.”
She did.

This is the word of the Father to all who have gone astray and think maybe they have gone too far away and getting back won’t be easy, the Almighty Father just like the father of the prodigal son is waiting and watching for your return. The Father is waiting and calling, come as are “Whatever you have done, whatever you have become, it doesn’t matter. Please come home.”

“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being.....”
“Come unto me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Weather or not the person contributed to the topic or not. I thank the person and to me a correction is a contribution. Cos God knows how many would have been misinformed by just an error that the writer probably made. I think nairalanders are use to argueing so much that they no longer know the difference btw criticism and correction. Unless, ofcourse, he feel shis article is correct. Then i would appologise to the writer. But he hasn't. Peace

Misinformed? So all the op put there was an error or just Christmas being the celebration of the birth of Jesus alone?

No one is misinformed cos everyone is aware of the fact, and all the remaining part is a blessing to people with open mind. Anyways my point is not to divert others attention from the import of the message, because to simply put, no one is supposed to celebrate Christmas if there aren't saved because the essence of Christ coming will be defeated.

Stay blessed

If you can accept that the came to deliver a msg then why is it so hard to accept, for example, that Mary came to deliver a message to 3 little girls in Fatima in 1917.
I am back!
Cant u see u are misconstruing the scripture "not knowing the scriptures nor the power", how in the world will u compare that to mary's appearance. Ok maybe u forgot let me remind u

Firstly we are in the New Testament era and messages are no longer sent through intermediary, tho this is the way God dealt with the people of old but now things has changed with the coming of Jesus Christ.

The bible says God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.
Hebrews 1:1

Secondly God dont just do things without a reason, now if I may ask what was the reason for the appearing of Mary? Was it to show forth the person of Jesus or glorify Him? Smile I tot as much.

NB I had given a detailed reply to this msg a long time but it was not posted.
Christianity EtcWishing U All A Merry Christmas by PastorOluT(op): 9:16am On Dec 25, 2015
The birth of Christ was the fulfilment of the long awaited prophecies on the salvation of the Israelite and the world at large. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ today, may all the long awaited promises of God in your life and family be fulfilled in Jesus mighty name. And also, may the salvation of God that bring life to everything never depart from your house.

Merry Chrismas and a happy New year in advance.

Stay blessed and remain rapturable

Yes,he doesn't. His nature chose him.

If someone was needed to deny Jesus, Peter won't have had a choice. His mouth was available. More like the parrot among birds.
Fully agreed with the statement, 'his nature chose him', bt I will want to believe u dont mean his human nature (frailty which we all possess bt his consequent actions) and this exactly is my point all along.

@ vooks, all u said is unnecessary (not that its wrong anyways) cos tho it was prophesied 4 God knows the end from the beginnin, his actions (even before he met Christ) chose him.
