1. I am having a hard time clearly seeing these salvation periods you speak of. undecided

2. The scriptures don't really do for me what they seem to be doing for you there.

3. The statement I had in bold there in the passage from Philippians speaks of not 3 but the same salvation from Death and eventually sin. Recall, that when a person becomes born-again, that person is gifted with Eternal life which is grace from Death(hell aka perishing in the grave). However, that same person is not yet Heaven-bound. And so to be Heaven bound, one has to attain holiness followed by righteousness — seek first the Kingdom of God(Holiness) and His righteousness. And Paul is pretty much speaking in reference to this. undecided

Jesus Christ, God's Truth, and God's Eternal Life, and God's Way offered two salvations

Salvation from the condemnation of Sin which is Death - John 3 vs 1 - 21 by which He gifts those who obey with Eternal Life aka grace in place of the curse of Death which was previously upon such a one. As it states, this salvation is eternal in origin meaning one is incapable of losing it. In other words, once one gains access to the Kingdom of God — either through the broad gate or the narrow gate described in Matthew 7 vs 13 - 14 — by way of the Spirit of Eternal life, there is no going back after that. The individual becomes eternally bound to the Kingdom of God for better(eternal reward) or for worse(eternal damnation) - Matthew 25 vs 31 - 46 .

Salvation from Sin unto everlasting Righteousness - Matthew 10 vs 22 & Matthew 24 vs 12- 13 & Mark 13 vs 13 - by which one is then sealed by the Spirit of God aka the Spirit of Truth in righteousness. As Jesus Christ made clear in His Gospels, it is only those who stand faithful — living in continuous submission and obedience to His teachings and commandments, God's Truth — until the end, that will be saved in this manner. Those who fall by the way before the end will have themselves to blame. undecided
So which one exactly are you asking me of? undecided

My stance

The Bible divides the matter of salvation into three periods
And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [separate you from profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God]; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved sound and complete [and found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).

1 Thessalonians 5:23 Amplified

The first period is the past when God saved us from the penalty of sin which is hell. The second period is the present in which God is saving us from the power of sin. The third period is the future when God will save us from the presence of sin to enter the kingdom and to reign with Christ.

Let me illustrate each of them with a pertinent verse:

(1) “Who [God] saved us, and called us . . .” (2 Tim. 1.9). This is the past experience which everyone who believes has had.

(2) “Wherefore also [Christ] is able to save to the uttermost them that draw near unto God through him . . .” (Heb. 7.25). This is present salvation which we may obtain today.

(3) “So Christ also, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, shall appear a second time, apart from sin, to them that wait for him, unto salvation” (Heb. 9.28). This is future and complete salvation.

Thus it is evident that the Scriptures speak of these three periods of salvation. All Christians may have the salvation past, but they may not have the salvation present and future. Some may have the salvation past and present, and they are looking for the salvation future. A person may be saved from the penalty of hell, yet he may still sin daily. A person may be saved from the penalty of hell, but he may not necessarily reign in the future.

I will quote three more Scriptures to prove the validity of these three periods of salvation.

(1) “By grace have ye been saved. . .” (Eph. 2.cool. This refers to salvation past.

(2) “If, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved by his life” (Rom. 5.10). This speaks of how we now are saved by the Lord’s life.

(3) “In hope were we saved” (Rom. 8.24). This points to the future salvation.

We thank and praise God, for we were saved! Nevertheless, there are two periods of salvation yet to be experienced. Hence we must earnestly pursue. To people who have not been saved, we should tell them to believe that they may be saved from the penalty of hell. But to us who are saved from hell, we need to be saved from the power of sin, as well as to seek after the glory of the kingdom to come. Let us accordingly work out our own salvation with fear and trembling.

Therefore, my dear ones, as you have always obeyed [my suggestions], so now, not only [with the enthusiasm you would show] in my presence but much more because I am absent, work out (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own salvation with reverence and awe and trembling (self-distrust, with serious caution, tenderness of conscience, watchfulness against temptation, timidly shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ). [Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.

1. I understand a paradox well; what I don't understand is how you concluded that this qualifies as a paradox.

2. What you described does not in any way sound like a paradox as it instead suggests that God has done His part, and what is left is in your doing your part of the work that is required. Yes? undecided

3. Lack of language comprehension is at the core of the problem that is understanding and resolving it means having to deal with the semantics of claims we make, etc. undecided

Jesus Christ never said God has done it all as after all that would mean we are not to bother doing any of what He commands in His Law and teachings to us. As a matter of fact, Jesus Christ was clear in His Gospels that it is those who do the work commanded by HIm, and the work done by Him, that are truly His and loved by God, and will go on to be saved at the end - John 8 vs 31 - 44 & John 14 vs 15 - 27 & John 15 by 7 - 11 & Matthew 10 vs 22 & Matthew 24 vs 12 - 13 & Mark 13 vs 13. As a matter of fact, the entirety of the Gospels — embodied in the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ Himself — is in fact God's Constitutional Law in God's special Nation of Priests - Exodus 19 vs 6 - and it is only those who abide by the Constitution that will inherit the Kingdom of God - Matthew 25 vs 31 - 46. That is instead what Jesus Christ in fact taught and to abide by a Constitution means one must live and breath by — work— its statutes and commandments. undecided
Before I continue with the discourse I will like to know your stance on Salvation?

I see its a thread long ago. I will come back after reading the whole thread from beginning..

You don't seem to have a clear understanding of what a contradiction is

If God has in fact done it all for you what that should mean is that there is absolutely nothing left for you to do in this. However, since according to you, you have work that you must do for what you claim as manifestation, then it means God has not done it all for you as you previously claimed. undecided

Smile, and you seem not know what paradox means. A seemingly contraction but in fact true.

God has done it all and nothing is added, but we bear the responsibility of showing it forth as we work out what God has worked in.

NB. I also strongly think semantics is not the bone of contention here, but living the life of Christ in this fallen generation. Not living compromisingly and morally bankrupt in this evil generation but shining the light and life of Christ.

I don't see the contradiction. God is working it in you and you are working it out for manifestation.

Hmm, what he said is in context which many don't understand.
There is a principle of Sin which is the root cause of the many sins we commit. when the principle of Sin is dealt with which is the original sin, then the many sins wouldn't be an issue cause we will stop committing them as we have anew nature when we accept Christ sincerely (Emphasis mine)
But for those who run after knowledge without encounter, the many sins committed is still an issue cos they deny Christ with their sinful nature which invariable leads to Hell.

NB. To put it straight, denying Christ is not just by speech alone but also action, so by extension even the many sins committed can lead to Hell.

But to me ...what will be will always be...wether permissive, authoritative...or balanced parenting
Some individuals got no parenting but still turn out to be good...

Anyway what we should pray for is that the responsibility in our kids should always outweigh its irresponsibility
Because whether we like it or not ...the spirit of irresponsibility and responsibility is in every one..

You dont say that, we are created with freewill choice and everyone is liable to their decisions. Reason The bible says train up a child the way he should go and when he grows he wont depart from it. Every parents hold the responsibility of guiding their kids on the right path cos the kids dont know better and when they are giving that foundation most of them turn out well. You argued some turned out well irrespective of parenting method, truth be told what is the percentage of those that turned out well and those that do not? The stats are there for all to see.
NB
No parent should neglect their responsibility because they will definitely give account of their wards before God.

GOD Hates Divorce. And as people of GOD, we don't do what our Father hates. That does not mean you should remain in silence if your life is threatened.

If your life is threatened in your home, dont keep quiet. get Godly counsel, get out of the place.

Mathew 5:31-32

31 AMP:It has also been said, Whoever divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.

32 AMP:But I tell you, Whoever dismisses and repudiates and divorces his wife, except on the grounds of unfaithfulness (sexual immorality), causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries a woman who has been divorced commits adultery.

1Corinthians 7:10-11

10

AMP:But to the married people I give charge—not I but the Lord—that the wife is not to separate from her husband.

11

AMP:But if she does [separate from and divorce him], let her remain single or else be reconciled to her husband. And [I charge] the husband [also] that he should not put away or divorce his wife.

God hates divorce but it is an option as seen here, there are conditions that permits separation but the person should be willing to stay single or return back to the spouse.

NB We should stop keeping people in bondage with religious dogmatism. Separation is an option with condition.

Look, I can tell the whole story of how Christians have been mistreated in the North from colonial times to date. I've even read books by people like Jan Boer and so forth.I am a Christian myself.

But this isn't a religion thing, and you know it. This is a land case. The developers apparently lost in court. Demolition happens.

All in all, the real problem is that we don't do things properly in this country. Both people and government. If we did, then such things won't be happening.

El rufai is a bigot...but when it comes to demolition, the guy knows no religion.

You see how you miss the whole point, l never mentioned anything about religion which is your point of view. Tho you are the one that said he did not compensate the Muslim community and l said he did cos l heard of it. All l am saying is his injustice, he hasn't right to do what he did. If El-Rufai demolish a place check very well, there is a cogent reason or the case has been in court for years.

Leave Nigerians and notice... everyone will be claiming that they were not given notice but they are the same people going to court for years or only the community heads have been actively involved in going to court. Every other person in the community just dey go on with their lives until demolition time.

Sometimes, I wonder why matters like this are reported by the press from religious angle when they occur in some other parts of Nigeria but when it happens in Lagos the same press reports them like normal news. No cares the religion of the governor or the victims whose houses are demolished.

Why make such insensitive statement. Were you there to know if they were fully notified? They were only given 24 hours notice for a case still in court.

One fun thing about this thread is the number of people who are seeing this as an attack on Christianity.

Now for the record, I am not a fan of EL rufai, and infact have had a poor opinion of him ever since the time he released that his book called accidental public servant. However, I do appreciate that he did a good job as Abuja minister.

And as Abuja minister, El Rufai was an equal opportunities demolisher. Rich poor, muslim, christian, big man, small man, El Rufai would come for you. He also tried to make Abuja a world class city...but the sad thing was that he did not have the time.

As for demoliitions in Kaduna....here is this report

As you can see, representation comes from both religions.

Plus, the Graceland demolition isn't the first...he did go after an area in the same city that is muslim majority (as far as I know)

Anyway, it is obvious that the man isn't out to get a religion specifically.

Smile, he went to a Muslim community to demolish and fully compensated them. Dont say what you dont know. Elrufai has no right whatsoever to demolish those houses.

So El rufai has no right to demolish those houses as the case is still in court and also its a federal government case not state.
Tho rumor has it that Aviation contacted Elrufai to do it cos he doesn't respect rule of law and he will carry out their wish with little or no intervention.

True that, but one thing l have come to realize over the years after much discussions with singles, especially those that are of marriageable age is that, they are not taught to be single. Scriptures teaches not everyone will get married, being unmarried doesn't mean something is wrong and marriage is not a must for everyone. This should be duly taught in the church, so we don't have frustrated and purposeless youth all around whose utmost is to get married.

10
AMP:The disciples said to Him, If the case of a man with his wife is like this, it is neither profitable nor advisable to marry.

11

AMP:But He said to them, Not all men can accept this saying, but it is for those to whom [the capacity to receive] it has been given.

12

AMP:For there are eunuchs who have been born incapable of marriage; and there are eunuchs who have been made so by men; and there are eunuchs who have made themselves incapable of marriage for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let him who is able to accept this accept it.

Sorry just seeing your quote after all this while of not being active.
There are so many consideration in breaking it cos it depends on how long you have been having it. l am telling you this is real, some have had for 10 years and more. The longer it stays the more difficult to break. But all in all one should break all evil habits and move closer to God. Know there is a problem and consciously fix it spiritually.

There is more to say but some questions need to be asked in order to know what we really dealing with.
