Guys, I got the Golden mail on Saturday morning The Lord has been merciful unto me ITA: Feb 20 AOR: March 7 Bil: April 25 PPR: 24 August NOC 0601 VO- Ottawa Single No ADR Zero travel History My journey started early November 2018. First IELTS was 5th of January 2019 (L8.5 R7 S7.5 W 6) Second IELTS on 17th of January 2019 (L 9, R 9, S 7.5, W7) I couldn’t dive into the pool as my ECA with WES didn’t come out until 19th February 2019. So, I enter pool on 19th and got ITA on 20th February 2019. Medicals & PCC I did my Medicals at IOM Ikeja. It was a hectic one because of the crowd. I got there 7 am and I was number 76. I guess the crowd was due to students doing their medicals too that period. I didn’t leave IOM until 4PM. PCC was very easy, I used Inspt Funke. I paid 4k. POF My POF was in my salary account( I was scared of using Mutual fund or TB). 3.3 Million was a gift deed from my elder sister with a notarized gift deed. Funny that I was worried that she now has a different surname as she is married. Reference Letter I got a reference letter from my HR in CIC format. I didn’t submit payslip or any other document. POST AOR. 2 weeks after submitting my application, I read that I am suppose to include a copy of my MSC certificate. I only submitted WES and IELTS, I quickly raised CSE to submit my MSC. As if that wasn’t enough, I discovered a silly error I made while opening my Express entry account. I MISSPELT ONE OF MY NAME ( unbelievable right?). I wanted to withdraw my application and start afresh. Anyway I raised another CSE for correction of name. I was shock they obliged and corrected the name on my dash board. Biometrics Biometrics was on 25th of April at VFS Lekki The Wait. The wait was something else. I have never been that anxious all my life. I order GCMS note and received it on the 17th of July only Criminality and Medicals passed, Eligibility and Security not yet started. I call IRCC 5-6 times, the Last call was 14 August and status was eligibility and security still not started. I gave up after the last call that PPR is not coming anytime soon, only to receive the golden mail mid night 24-08-19. |

No mind this I'm a pioneering student gang thinking like a robot. Because they were not affected means it doesn't exist. Very annoying. Iamzik: |
It's just annoying the way the pioneer student keep writing without really understanding what's on ground. The OP wrote nothing but the truth, the fact that the pioneering student fees were reasonable doesn't mean others got that lucky. You should read the post well before writing I'm a pioneering student gibberish. You can tolerate some nonsense and still praise them does not mean others should keep quiet . profunen: |
Try and read to understand before replying. The pioneer set where used as a trap to lure folks into the program. Be in tune with reality by asking questions from sets behind you. That's the problem we have in this country, just because you are fine does not mean others are not bleeding. What the OP wrote is 100% true nickmanuel: |
I had to cut my losses and discontinued the program after 2 semesters. The program is not flexible and so backward. How can you be explaining maths on Whatsapp as lecture? They give assignments indiscriminately as if you are in secondary school. The program is nothing but fraud. |
The Flag Officer Commanding , Western Naval Command , Apapa, Lagos , Sylvanus Abbah, has warned that terrorists can exploit the gridlock on the Apapa bridges to attack Lagos . He said the enormity of the traffic would hinder timely response from security agencies if there was an emergency around the area . Abbah spoke on Wednesday during an interactive session with stakeholders at the command on perennial gridlock on the Apapa Dockyard Road and neighbouring routes caused by tankers and trailers . The naval boss lamented that the holding bays where the trucks abandoned on the roads were supposed to be kept were not functioning . He then called for drastic measures from all the stakeholders to decongest the gridlock and avert security and safety threats it posed . Abbah urged the drivers to remove the trucks on the Apapa bridges within 48 hours to ease traffic. He said , “ Nigeria is going through a lot of trying times now . Terrorists may strike anytime in any part of the country without you predicting. We have to take adequate measures to prevent such from happening . Some of the vehicles have been parked on the bridges for two or three weeks with some of them carrying loads. The terrorists and other enemies of Nigeria could easily use this opportunity . So many tankers are parked along the road if any of them is set ablaze, you know what will happen to the rest. “When the Chief of Naval Staff visited Lagos the other time , we were trapped in the traffic for over 30 minutes even with the sirens . He asked me what would happen if a pregnant woman who is about giving birth is faced with this traffic situation. So many people have lost their lives in this traffic jam. “ One of the constitutional roles of the military is to protect key national assets , including the bridges . If we need to enforce the laws of the land , we have to work hand- in - hand with the state government to ensure that sanity is restored . ” The Permanent Secretary , Lagos State Ministry of Transport , Dr . Taiwo Salau , said the Apapa Port was designed for 30 million metric tonnes , but had been stretched to over 80 million metric tonnes. He said the increase was responsible for the gridlock , adding that the volume of articulated vehicles parked on Apapa bridges had made the infrastructure to become distressed and unsafe. Salau said , “ The bridges will not pass integrity test if conducted on them. The Lagos State Government has embarked on building holding bays that will accommodate 2 , 700 vehicles . If you go to the port now , you will be sorry for this nation” The Manager , Apapa Port, who was represented by the Traffic Manager , Oginni Victor , said the Nigerian Ports Authority had resolved to adopt call -up system whereby companies would be allowed to send a specific number of containers to the port to load raw materials on a daily basis. http://punchng.com/terrorists-may-exploit-apapa-gridlock-to-attack-lagos-navy/ |

The Police Service Commission (PSC), said that more than 150,000 policemen were attached to VIP’s and unauthourised persons in the country. News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that President Muhammadu Buhari, in 2015 directed that police personnel attached to unauthorised persons and VIPs in the country be withdrawn and deployed to confront the security challenges in the nation. The Chairman of the commission, Mr Mike Okiro made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday, in Abuja. “We cannot afford to have more than half of the population of the Police in private hands,” he said. He said that the commission in conjunction with the Nigeria Police Force, had commenced the implementation of the withdrawal of policemen but the exercise was stalled due to lack of fund. “We could not sustain the enforcement of the order on the withdrawal of policemen attached to unqualified persons in the country because of lack of fund. He expressed disappointment at the practice where persons who served as ministers for over 10 to 15 years still go about with police security. Okiro said that the nation cannot be battling with shortage of manpower in the force while majority of these officers would be in the service of few privileged Nigerians. The chairman said that that the number of policemen in the country was inadequate for the population, hence the request for the recruitment of more policemen. He said that issue of paucity of fund had been one of the problems hindering the recruitment of more policemen for enhanced service delivery. “The Nigeria police Force is underfunded and not only in the area of manpower. “The issue of funding is very strategic to the Nigeria Police Force. If you want to police Nigeria as it should be, the entire budget of Nigeria cannot be enough for that,” he said. The chairman said that the Police Trust Fund bill before the National Assembly if passed into law would go a long way to address the issue of funding for the police. (NAN)

A ‘phantom ship’ which had more than a tonne of crystal meth on board has been seized by the Indonesian navy. The MV Sunrise Glory was intercepted by a navy boat patrolling the Phillip Channel between Singapore and Batam. It was flying the flag of Singapore but the crew changed it for the Indonesian one as the military vessel approached. When the boat was taken to Batam for inspection, 1,029 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine were found stashed inside 41 sacks of rice. Navy deputy chief Vice Admiral Achmad Taufiqoerrochman said, “Last night, we discovered more than one tonne of crystal meth and the amount might increase because we have not finished checking everything.” Four crew members were arrested and the men told their captors that they had planned on taking the drugs to Australia. Indonesia has some of the toughest anti-drugs laws in the world, including capital punishment for traffickers. Officials initially suspected that the Taiwanese fishing boat was a part of a drug syndicate wanted by the Indonesian military. As well as the huge stash of drugs, at least four different national flags and fake documents were found on board, prompting suspicion that the vessel was a ‘phantom ship’ which changes its name and flag depending on which country’s waters it is sailing in to avoid detection. http://punchng.com/navy-seize-cocaine-hidden-in-bags-of-rice/amp/?__twitter_impression=true |
President Muhamamdu Buhari on Saturday expressed happiness on the release, through negotiations, of three University of Maiduguri lecturers abducted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Magumeri, Borno State. According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President expressed delight at the development while being briefed by the Department of State Services. Also released from the Boko Haram terrorists, according to the statement, are 10 women kidnapped in a raid by the militant group on a military/police convoy on Damboa Road, near Maiduguri. Shehu said their release followed a series of negotiations facilitated by the International Committee of the Red Cross, as directed by the President. The presidential spokesman quoted the brief given by the DSS as revealing that all the 13 rescued persons are in the custody of the service and are on their way to Abuja with the assistance of the Nigerian Army and the Air Force. In expectation of their being brought to the DSS headquarters, he said a team of doctors and psychologists has been placed on standby. He added that the rescued persons may be presented to the President and thereafter released to their families, if there are no issues of security or medical concerns. The statement read in part, “The President, who got step by step progress reports on the lengthy negotiations while they took place, received the good news with a lot of happiness. “He commended all those who in one way or the other helped in making the release possible. “He then urged the DSS and the Nigerian Army to intensify efforts to bring home the remaining Chibok Girls still in the custody of the terrorists. “The Director-General of the DSS, Lawal Daura, assured the President that they were working hard to bring home the remaining girls and, as soon as possible, bring the Chibok girls saga to an end.” |

Why Most States Cannot Pay Workers Salaries Dr Joe Abah (a.k.a Eze Mmuo) - February 10, 2018 This morning, I want to talk about why I think some states don’t pay salaries. As always, my intention is to explain, not to justify. It is immoral and wrong not to pay ANYBODY that has done agreed work, both in public and private life: civil servants or domestic staff. Thread… Many states are public service states. In some, the main economic activities in the state revolves around the public service. The only good jobs available are public service jobs. Public servants are the elite. Everybody’s ambition is to join the public service. It’s prestigious. The public servants are, if you like, the representatives of those in the rural areas. They are the educated elite who tell others what to do, even what to think. The salary of each public servant supports 30 dependents. They know how to write petitions. You don’t mess with them. Because each salary supports 30 people, having high salary costs as a percentage of the budget is not seen by the people as a big deal in the states. It is seen as a means of direct distribution. So, a governor MUST recruit...and pay...and do infrastructure. Borrow, if necessary! In some cases, personnel costs consume as much as 90% of state resources, even though the public service of that state is much less than 5% of the population. If you sack people, you’ll lose elections. It’s that simple. You may be forgiven if you sack AND REPLACE, like el Rufai. So, you have less than 10% of resources available to spend on infrastructure, healthcare, education, security, youth, etc. As a governor, you know that if you don’t build roads, you’ll lose elections. If you don’t build gigantic structures in bricks and mortar, you lose elections Now, assume that you defeated the incumbent governor to become governor. A month before he hands over, he will recruit an additional 10,000 people and dump them on you. They’ll report for work IMMEDIATELY! When you are sworn in, to sack them is a problem. To pay them is war. At a point, Ekiti State which has about the smallest allocation from the Federation Account had the largest civil service in the country: 60,000 people. Even the Federal Civil Service is only 82,000 ...and some people say it is bloated. You take over as a governor, in shock! Now, the public service in the states are TOTALLY politicised. EVERYBODY ACTIVELY belongs to the ruling party. The main preoccupation of the civil service is party politics. Any contestations are within the same party. The only exception I’ve seen is Ekiti: about 50% APC; 50% PDP Remember I said if you don’t do roads and build white elephant projects, you’ll lose. The same civil servants will tell the whole world that you are not doing anything, so you are not sure of their loyalty. There is no money. People that invested in your election are waiting… So, to get anything done, you have no choice than to borrow. If you ask your Ministry of Works or Education to give you a quote for re-roofing a school, they’ll quote N50 million. You know you can do it for N5 million. You ignore the Ministries and do it yourself directly. Because each successive governor has ignored them, they haven’t done any work in years and years. Any capacity they came to the Service with is now COMPLETELY lost. Indeed, you’ll need some convincing that some even have degrees. Many have fake degrees but that’s for another day. So now, as a governor, you are asking yourself why you should be spending 90% of State resources on this “useless, unproductive” 2%. You find it totally maddening. You can’t raise taxes either. You can’t make enough money to be politically independent of your political sponsors. Because capacity is so low and the cost of going through the public service is so high, you bring in your own staff and just award contracts from government house. You decide to throw a big party for your wife. The civil service prepares its dossier for EFCC when the time comes. The choices before you are stark: 1. Do the right thing, sack some and risk your political future 2. Continue to pay them, do no projects and lose re-election 3. Borrow massively to do projects and leave the Federal allocation to them 4. Raise IGR, annoy market traders and lose. Many governors will choose Option 3 and borrow massively. The problem comes when you’ve borrowed so much that you can no longer service the debt. You can’t afford to default on your loans. FGN guarantees international ones and will deduct at source. Local debtors don’t give time. All of a sudden, you realise you can’t pay salaries. You promise them you’ll pay. Don’t forget that 30 people depend on EACH salary. The heat is so much that you start looking to borrow more. If you get “bail out funds”, you either want to do projects or pay other debts. Since the public service has captured 90%, if you don’t do projects, you don’t make any money for yourself in kickbacks. So you build schools nobody needs, a state university or even an airport with the bailout funds. You continue to owe, and that’s how the cookie crumbles. End!
