giles14: lair . in the Catholic Church u have 3 churches. the triumph church - those in heaven/ saints the militant Church- the living /those still on earth. suffering church - those in purgatory.
so Christianity never had anything similar to the Islamist or jihadist.
even the crusaders are far from islamist.
so wen next u use the word "church militant" pls search for its meaning huh, you are right. I was thinking of the Militaris ordinis |

xwolverine: Now you're contradicting yourself, just knock it off already. I bet you would say the Iraqis have more experience than the Yanks?
Experience is not indeginous it's gained from being involved in actual wars.. A theoretical driver with the best training still needs to understand the driving culture of his/her city...training alone doesn't cut it, if it did the yanks would've kicked some asses in Japan... They needed the A-bomb to end the war. Year: 1990 Last time USAF was in combat: 1974 (15 years before) Last time Iraqi AF was in combat: 1988 (2 years before) Losses in Air-to-Air combat: USAF: 0 Iraqi AF: 39 ........ what conclusion can we draw? |

xwolverine: [s]Really? are we going to do this all over?
The US have always had countless experiences since the turn of the century. From the civil wars to the world wars, you can't wave that off just to win an argument.
When Botswana have had to scramble A-jets (not designed for CAS) within short notice, with the pilot getting injured from AA guns in the process, but still manages to complete his mission...when SAAF have participated and won a single war (not against its own people)...when SADF have managed to restore democracy to one nation while supporting with over $10billion....Then we can have this discussion....till then i say the SAAF achievements are nothing even Chad wouldn't do. (anyone can perform excercises)[/s] Stop moving the goal posts "Hurr, your expeirence doesnt count becuase muh Apartheid" Fact is that SAAF participated in extensive full spectrum air-combat from WW2, to Angola. |

chkil0: not a good exemple , you cant compare iraqi army ( under embargo , no modern equipement) against coalition (more than 40 coutries ) +US NATO armies ! what can do experience when us air force destroy everything from the sky ? The coalition flew over 100,000 sorties, dropping 88,500 tons of bombs, and widely destroying military and civilian infrastructure. + Tomahawk ect... The difference was too enormous in terms of equipment and technology ! The experience can make the difference when the two opponents have a close level equipment and capacity .
what can do an experinced ace in an alpha jet against a new rookie in a f22 formation with awacs support ! or a best experienced soldiers in a t72 with no night vision against an appach thats see him in HD in night from faaar ! Unfortunatly, your Military History needs to be polished Iraq had one of the finest militaries in the world at the time, during the ten year war against Iran (which had finised ~2 years before GW 1) they had received some of the finest training and equipment BOTH the West and the East had to offer. The Iraqi airforce had extensive experience in Air-to-Air combat, doding SAM's and attacking well defended positions. Their SAM crews had extensive experience shooting down Iranian jets and dealing with Iranian SEAD and EW They Iraqi army of 1990 was extensivly experienced, very well equipped, but poorly trained. The American army of 1990 was extensivly trained and well equipped, but poorly experienced. The Americans, as we all know, wiped the floor with the Iraqi's. |

Henry240: You don't agree with the truth, doesn't make it false. The main take away from the meeting for your Navy chief is budget.
The Nigerian navy chief, had maritime security in Africa, not just Nigeria as his focal point. This is the main area of discussion. Even the US navy is complaining about budgetary issues.
You can disagree all you want, but one person was prepared for a meeting, the other was not. South African Navy Cheif was raising public awareness about budgetary constraints for SAN Nigerian Cheif was talking about things Nigeria has no capacity or mandate for Who was doing their job? |

Henry240: There is nothing false in my comment. All I stated are the facts in the news report. If you have any problems with that, take it up with Channelstv and the South-African navy chief. So, you are saying SAAF specially rolled out Gripen for the visit? But you are also saying SAAF doesnt have the budget to fly Gripen So, SAAF wasted budget for a ceremonial fly-by for a "literally who?" which is good because SAAF doesnt have the budget to fly ceremonial flyby's #Henry120ForTokyo2020 |

Henry240: Nice to see that the SAAF brought out jets for him, this should give the SAAF a much needed flying time.
In all, I'm Okay with the visit, but the SA navy chief though, talking about budget first, instead of a shared maritime goal to see security in African waters....... SMH!

Henry240: Yes, and i said, they are better, as a proven fact. The HQ-9, LY-08, HQ-16 are all better Air Defence Systems than the South-African system.
I did not mince words. "better because i say so"If they were better, would Iran then not buy them? Checkmate. |

ActivateKruger: Israel doesn't want Iran to have a meaningful air defence system, remember how much they tried blocking the S300 acquisition even tried using its business influence in Russia to discourage Russia from the transaction.
This one is straight forward, Umkhonto Missile is a modern system that Israel would not like especially if they if they think Iran could use it to defend it's potential nuclear site (s).
This won't go through. Well... look at this way: If Isreal lets the Umkhonto go through... then we know its a sh1t system Them banning it would be a badge of honor and excellent for marketing. |
