Obostone: [s]The black death reduced the popu increasing famers access to land on a whole lot of stuff that went on but whqt they will not tell u is that the moors which was another name for black people were the military power at the time. They thought them everything they know or built opun ask them who were their scientist and other priminents people's teachers. Simpel they were down we unfortunatly we educated them they kick us out of europe ask them why all the early saint and religious and scientific leaders were Africans and they used it to enslavef us whitewashed jesus.(they have been on the planet only 40000 years they are the newcomers)Jesus was born in the middle east which was north west or east Africa untill they built the Suez canal and called it middle east. Jesus was black wolly or nappy hair as stated in the bible. All of this is the source of conflict in the middle east that causef the rise of terrorism with the black and white mixed and sometime white people we call Arabs today. So before u understand what the big boys are doing know thy self learn ur history and u will understand why all of this are happing. They used our spirituality or our sacred science in Kemit against us not the morden egyptians against us remember it was not called religion. This is why the leaders and military fuys need to sturdy history from day one before christianity hay by the way the 10 comandment is actually 48 or something like that in the stone obvthe pyramid in Egypt before Christianity think about it. Bc all this terrisim has economic underpin to it but to undetstand the whole global scenerio u got to understand all of this. When did the bible say Israel will be created I know it is not know bc if they are jews then the profercy of them being shiped on bote as slaves across the ocean has not happend yet after the creation of the state that is when the crazy arab and morden terrorism started and our people begun using it as a means to solve crazy problems.72 vergins. Some are so smart they get theirs on earth before they die. I hopr it helps to give u an over view of the whole situation and how and why it is happening and those who are exploiting it[/s]. Get the fvck out of here with this "WE WUZ KANGZ" Bullshit |

He is, for once, correct.
Food/Clothing Aid has destroyed small-scale farmers and textile markets.
Drought and natural disaster usually help in development,
Take drought for example: good/clever farmers are often in a better position than others during a time of crisis. Hence can sell their wares at higher prices (decrease in supply, increase in demand), thus they generate more capital. Because the drought has slaughtered the competition, and killed people themselves you now have an increased supply of land and a decreased demand to occupy it. Hence these surviving farmers are able to use the capital they generated earlier to buy the land of the farmers who have failed... expanding their operation, increasing their output and thus the cycle starts over - they generate more capital and use the capital to aquire more land to generate more capital. In a couple generations large scale commercial farms (though lacking sophistication) begin to arise.
Food aid destroys this natural cycle.
[PS: Look into the ANC's drought relief from last year and see if you can figure out what they are doing.]
The European renaissance, for example, was only possible because of the Black Death. |

Henry24o: I'm completely sick to my stomach. I had seen the video earlier on, and i could not believe what i saw. These terrorists are taking our militaries seriously, yet it seems we are still engaging them with kids gloves.
I'm not happy with the KDF, faced with overwhelming force they could have retreated a long while ago. Read the link in the story, the attack was the result of poor inteligence. The KDF guys who got wiped out were from a unit replacing another... the unit leaving didnt full them in on the situation properly. Henry24o: The base seemed well fortified but it completely fell. Actually, it was poorly fortified. Long lines of defense, with isolated firing positions. If you watch the video you cant those faggits from AS breaching parts of the perimiter, isolating pockets of resistance and then bringing heavy weapons on technicals to silence them. Shorter lines, bigger fortifications and no indirect fire support. Henry24o: 2 APCs and no defence. Those terrorists moved across open fields for atleast 200 meters, the Oto melera's should have been employed. Problem is that they just didnt use their APC's at all. They didnt laager them properly Look at Pics of NATO bases in Afghanistan, they keep their APC's around the outskirts of their bases and there are little ramps all over the place on the inside of the defences... its so vehicles can drive up the ramp, fire, drive off the ramp and move to a new ramp to repeat the process. Very important. Henry24o: I don't understand why, faced with 14.5mm's, the Kenyans still hull around with 7.62 MG's. The Nigerian army learnt this the hard way. Faced with superior arms, you also have to be prepared to respond with equally superior firepower. 7.62 is very effective at those sorts of ranges. 7.62 rate of fire > 12.5 rate of fire When you can sling more lead, you have fire-superiority. When you have fire superiority you can supress your enemy When your enemy is supressed he is fixed When he is fixed, you can destroy him Also, I cant at least 2 Panhard AML's... those 90mm would have wrecked AS if used properly. Mortars would have won that battle Henry24o: The guys on guard duty were basically sleeping. 2 guys for 2 hour shifts, should have kept everyone alert. I think its silly to talk about duty rosters when we have no idea how many men they had inside the base. Henry24o: African armies need to go back and critically look at the trainings received to deal with asymmetrical contacts with the enemy such as these.
Why did the KDF not retreat, there was not a proper response, the big guns weren't firing, the APCs, weren't firing, the Oto melera wasn't also firing, so why not basically flee, re-group and counter-attack. At least, that's what the video showed. Mortars, most African nations dont use enough mortars, or lager their vehicles (even the Germans did that in WW2 - see: Hedgehog formation) I dont want to be arrogant, but y'all need to study what the old SADF did during the war in Angola. The major battles are irrelevant, a set-peice battle is a set-peice battle. But the practices employed by our mechanised formations when operating in Angola... those are perfect for Africa. |

This is not "gloating" This is REAL. We must quit hoping to fight murderous religious extremist on the cheap 5% of GDP? That's what I thought initially. I felt i was going to see gauges all over the place. The cockpit is modern, with 2 LED displays. It goes further to prove the Nigerian F-7 is an upgraded, multi-role aircraft. "I am amazed that the F-7M Airguard is not like a J-7" The fact that the F-7M AG contains western avionics is common knowledge... well, common knowledge for most. And no, LCD screens =/= Multi-role.

frumentius: Pulling out was a rather stupid decision. Yes the delays at Airbus resulted in a cost escalation, but compare that with what we've been paying since then to charter heavy lift. And of course, it didn't help that someone at MoD confused the life-cycle price with the sale price, and the resulting public outrage was simply too much. Indonesia is paying $2 billion for 5 planes whilst we were going to pay $2.5 billion for 8! At least Denel Aerostructures and the rest of our aeronautical industry are still working on the A400M and earning from it. And Airbus hasn't given up trying to sell it to us. That's why they signed an agreement guaranteeing Airbus dynamic components to support any future Rooivalk MK2. So the nonsense that killed prospective Rooivalk sales to Turkey and Australia will not be repeated. If we get anything it will be new C130's. Americans are offering them at the same price they sell them to the USAF... thats too good a deal to turn your nose up at. But then again... Germans said they would finance a sale of excess A400M's Jesus, I just want this to end. |

Without a doubt, it is not a glamourous vehicle, but it played an important part in the Soviet Army of the 1970s-1990s and an absolutely critical one in the arsenals of Warsaw Pact members such as East Germany and Poland.
The many, many variants of the vehicle, both for export and for specialised domestic use, are too many to count here, but it seemed that the humble MT-LB could be modded to fit every single vehicular role out there - as tank destroyers, transports, tractors and command posts.
When NATO and the west first caught wind of the MT-LB in the 1970s, the first question that came to the minds of military planners was why the Soviet Union was producing the MT-LB, albeit in lesser numbers, when the excellent BMP was already in service.
In hindsight, it is quite clear that a similar armed APC role was not envisioned for the MT-LB, but rather a versatile motor to support operations of all varieties with limited industrial and technological strain. The MT-LB certainly succeeded in this respect.

Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Patchesagain: 7:55am On Feb 01, 2017 |
MT-LB. Nigerias wasted resource.
The design that would become known as the MT-LB began in the 1960s as a direct effort to replace the AT-P range of dedicated artillery tractors, which had previously been utilised in the 1950s to tow 85 mm D-48 and 100 mm T-12 field guns.
Expanding on the tried and tested PT-76 chassis, the replacement vehicle for the AT-P was spearheaded by the distinguished Kharkov tractor plant, with two key principles in mind. The first was an emphasis on very slim and low silhouettes, evidenced by the MT-LB's very squat profile, lacking any turret save for a lone single man MG position. The other principle was the need to allow the vehicle to cross water bodies under its own power, being buoyant and able to move through water via the movement of its tracks.
The original unarmoured model was simply called the MT-L, whereas the ubiquitous MT-LB had up to 14 mm of welded steel for protection. Following its debut in Moscow parades in 1970, where NATO quickly attached the moniker of "M1970", it began to appear in substantial quantities in both the Soviet Union and export partners, branching out from its intended role of artillery transport to everything from combat engineering to ambulance work.
Where it would be most commonly employed, however, was in a taxi role, as it could fit up to 10 or 11 soldiers with two crew members inside a relatively spacious canvas lined compartment with NBC protection. In fact, both former communist countries such as Poland or Bulgaria, and the Russian Federation continue to maintain fleets, with the latter boasting 1500 MT-LBs in restored condition.
