Nigerian troops having to roll around the N.E in dump-trucks when Stallion has a facility in Lagos that churns out 400 highly capable troop transports per month...

IDK about Nigerian fleet requirements, but for RSA that kind of capacity would allow us to replace our entire fleet in a year and a half.

Good men died because of bad leadership due to the ill military education of your top military brass political appointees. So I won't indulge your inanities for the sake of their honor.

Professionals honor their peers regardless of allegiance something I'm sure you know nothing about. But hope I helped educate you.

But if you must have the last word as always being the kid you are who always end up running for the shades and mod(s) breathless despite being often placated not to sup then tell yourself what you like to hear as usual.

one of the most advanced cruise missiles in the world finally met it's match? If these are really fragments from a downed MBDA Storm Shadow, then it means the Russians ain't lying about their superior air defense systems.

Why do people always underestimate Russian equipment?

Shooting down a single cruise missile, or even a couple, is not much of an accomplishment.

You need to be shooting down a consistent 70% or 80% to prove that your defense networks are capable of enduring the kind of sustained fire you would take if the US were to actually go for you.

What we saw in Syria was just a series of strikes, in actual war or intervention, it would be what we saw in Syria but 24/7, thousands of missiles would be fired. Over time, these strikes would overwhelm and degrade local networks to the point that the Americans feel comfortable putting aircraft right over the AO for more effective percision strikes... at which point it is game over.

For consideration

Iraqi Air Defense - Introduction
Iraqi air defenses were redesigned after the Israeli raid on the Osirak nuclear reactor in 1981. A network of radars, surface-to-air missiles (SAM) and antiaircraft artillery (AAA) was installed, primarily concentrated around strategic and industrial facilities in the Baghdad area. The national air defense operations center (ADOC) in downtown Baghdad controlled Iraq's air defenses. The ADOC maintained the overall air picture in Iraq and established priorities for air defense engagements. Subordinate to this facility were sector operations centers (SOC), each controlling a specific geographic area. The SOC and the ADOC were connected by the French-built Kari command and control system. This modern, computerized system linked the diverse inventory of Soviet and Western radar and air defense weaponry. It provided a redundant C 2 capability

I wish RSA and Nam would do more meaningful exercises together.

I have a dream of a permanent SADAC brigade (Modeled on the French-German brg) composed of elements from RSA, BOTS and NAM.

It could be a quick reaction formation composed of light infantry.

If the thieves were actually able to steel any enriched Uranium then the USA would have had some justification but instead the thieves were arrested and the security system at Pelindaba was overhauled.

Secondly unlike Nigeria and Ghana we actually use our uranium for generating power and manufacturing of medical isotopes to fight cancer, it's thus integral to our health department and economy(especially the Western Cape).

Lastly It's been 11 years since that incident and there have been 0 security breaches, the US thus have 0 justification to ask us to relinquish our enriched Uranium.

The Pelindaba breach was *supposedly* done by foreign intelligence agents trying to get their hands on the technology for pebble bed reactors. At the time we were world leaders in the field.

Pelindaba is a huge facility, the part that suffered the breach was a "lower" security area.

But an embarrassing incident regardless.

RSA has a number of such sites, I believe we have BSL-4 lab in Gauteng where they keep some really nasty biological stuff.

Watched a video a year or so ago, think it might of been on defencesa or something like that where they explicitly said that females have to (will try to find it) pass the same physical and mental selection courses as men....... How this correlates to actual combat effectiveness I don't know, but I will say I can't ever see a women soldier saving my 107kg injured ass in an actual combat scenario.

2. I agree

SANDF uses different standards for men and women (download the pdf)
https://repository.up.ac.za/handle/2263/19005

If the standards were the same, I would not be as adverse to the position.

USMC study found that female only, and mixed-sex units sustained higher casualties and exhibited inferior combat effectiveness in the overwhelming number of tasks performed.

You can post all the "strong independent women" you want, fact remains that they have no place in combat.

There's nothing disgusting about Women in Combat role.
Yes, they can't be at per with Men but its too harsh to say they are disgusting.

Some men couldn't even pass Airborne Course yet we have women who easily passed it.

1. We both know that selection standards for women are different for selection standards for men.

2. A nation that sends its women to war is disgusting.

SANDF Female combatants MONUSCO:

Absolutely disgusting.

The data is very clear on this issue, women are inferior to men in combat roles. The USMC did a field study as well as a meta-study (a study of other studies) and the results were very clear, and despite the protests of feminists in the social sciences, passed peer-review without any meaningful criticism of the methodology or the data set.

The study found over 35 biological, psychological and physiological issues with women - aside from the usual (strength, cardiovascular, aerobic respiratory rates, anaerobic respiratory rates) ranging from poor spatial awareness, inability to dissipate heat as effectively, increased rates of bone injuries, the fact that when they run at a calorific deficit their bodies literally eat their bones (ever wonder why women need to take calcium?).

This is the executive summery of the field tests, I am trying to find the meta-study (which is much more detailed).
https://www.scribd.com/doc/280017557/Marine-Corps-gender-integration-research-executive-summary

Having women in direct-combat will do nothing but get people killed... but then again, in the last century, over a hundred million were killed in the name of "equality", what is a few more bodies on the pile?

Err....no. That's a common misconception. They lost at least 5 major engagements in their 10 year war. In 65 the victorious 7th cav stumbled off the hard fought LZ X ray without flankers and lost an entire coy within hours.

In Op Hickory May 67 the 3 Mar Div also lost a whole coy.

Very very interesting reading!

They lost units, but they never lost a major engagement

And that inadequate preparation was only seen with the benefit of hindsight. So basically the test of your preparation is battle. Without that its just words and stats on paper. My earlier statement was nt targetted at any group, it cuts both waysuote author=Patchesagain post=67640278]

Yes, you need skills to use them.

If you are properly trained, your high end precision rifle will be better than a crossbow.

I dont see how effective employment of weaponry related to COIN. The American weapons worked just fine in Vietnam, they never lost major engagement. Ditto for the Russians in Afghanistan.

What you are confusing here is skills training and doctrine.

Experience is irrelevant as well, when compared to training and doctrine.

The simple fact of the matter is that those flaws you pointed out came from militaries that werent prepared for the type of war they faced.

I know it wasnt aimed at any group, thats why I responded seriously.

With regards to preparation that goes to training and doctrine.

The American difficulties in Afghanistan and Iraq were specifically because they actually learn anything from Veitnam. The lessons they learnt in 'Nam were applied in the Gulf-War 1: over-whelming firepower, precision air-power and, most importantly, clear and limited political objectives.

None of these lessons were applied to Afghanistan. At one point there were less American troops in Afghanistan than police in New York!

Depends on what you consider expensive....the $40 price tag that everyone likes quoting includes the entire 25 year development cost.......if Denel gets enough export orders to reopen production the export price will be considerably lower.

This.

When calculating unit cost its literally cost of R&grin divided by number built.

A great example of this is the F35, everyone harps on about "the 1 trillion dollar fighter"

But when it reaches full production it will be cheaper per unit than any NATO fighter currently on the market.

To make sure civilians don´t skydive in bad weather. There are health risks involved. Only the Military minded perform such hazards like the NAF Special warfare Operators did in terrible weather at the NAF day celebrations something which is very Special.

As always Covert validated.[/s]

Nothing special about sky-diving from 10,000ft, basic capabilities.

Augustine, all you have done is show us the height of your delusion - claims of being a covert operative, claims of capabilities you cannot prove etc etc etc.

Now, Augustine, we have indulged your nonsense enough. This is not a place for discussions, if you keep de-railing this thread, I assure you that your ban will be substantial.

Indeed. And again I maintain that it is a rare feat the MFF performed by NAFs elite SF Regiment during the NAF day celebrations in low weather at over 10,000 feet above sea level. No not you (you watch too much fiction videos) but any expert can validate or challenge that fact. In addition HAHO/HALO Jumps are performed by SOF elements of Nigeria´s Armed Forces who have undergone advanced Airborne Training.

1. Jumping at 10,000 ft is nothing special. Civilian skydivers do that all the time
2. No one denies that individuals within the Nigerian SOF community are HAHO/HALO qualified.

Congratulations for proving you actually have no idea about everyone was talking about and yet again have completely destroyed what was an interesting and sensible conversation. In so doing, you have humiliated yourself, and made the Nigerian military (whom you claim to represent) seem cartoon-ish.
