Recently I was conducting legal research, and I was shocked to discover that most jailbirds planned their next crime from prison custody. It was even more shocking to discover that first time convicts were most likely to return to prison custody within a year or two from their release from custody.

I won't tell lies, I had goosebumps.
Prisons are supposed to be correctional facilities but in Nigeria it's a place to only keep you from escaping and drain you mentally and turn petty criminals into hardened criminals.

I recalled a case I was handling sometime in 2019. The accused had barely secured bail and he was already planning how to go back to his internet fraud. My God! I was marvelled.

I felt so bad I abandoned the case because it was obvious he had made up his mind to return to his wayward ways, having built contacts in prison custody that will help him take his nefarious activities to the next level.

It kept me wondering and asking if prisons truly correct or rehabilitate convicts/inmates or simply harden them.

It has never been an easy feeling the times I had none to give Awkward and odd was the feeling ,to say the least. It should always be a thing of joy to be able to give cheerfully to the God who gave us all things. I love to always give to the Lord.
