Travel / Re: Delta Awards Contract For Second Int’l Airport by patienz(f): 8:16pm On Dec 13, 2013
Alikaxon: what are u trying to justify? Come to Agbor and see, he has been using one whole tenor to tare a single "old lagos/Asaba road in Agbor. The project has been ongoing since 2008 and is not yet completed till date, a road not more than 5km. Aside from that road, there is no other existing project(s) in Agbor. Thumbs up 4 Ibori, Ibori had served Deltans better when compared to Uduaghan. All Uduaghan has achieved since inception is building "international airport". Delta state is among the richest states in Nigeria with nothing to show 4 it. Go to Edo state and see what Adams Oshiomole is doing even with the state's little resources. How can u have "2" international airports in a usle.ss state like Delta? Who and who will use the airline? Will they have passenges? What are people comming to do in Delta? No tourist attraction, no industry, no big market 4 busness like "onitsha" The airpots re going to be dormant I swear. This is just a rivalry of the urhobo people, they want to have airpot bcox Asaba had. Is it by just building d airpots? Whoose persons re gonna be travelling via the airpot. Delta is not even fit 4 two local airpots, talkmore of "international" Silly govt. It's hight time Anioma state is created. Look, Mr Uduaghan; u have money to build "airpot" but u don't have money to pay contractors handling our road. This governor had so much marginalised Delta north. Am just waiting 4 effcc to pick him after 2015. Cheers!!!
May your brains remain blessed. The Urhobo/Anioma rivalry is at play here. Delta needs more infrastructural upliftment than an airport. For the love of God, D cow of a gofornor awards & supervises contract that even a right thinking human being wont! Imagine constructing a road as major as Nnebisi with poor drainage & later awarding D contract for a drainage the size of his BIG & blunt head! Even the Asaba airport is a sorry excuse for development.

Gbawe: They are now complaining. Only in Nigeria. Did these shallow and opportunist profiteers, with nil power sector knowledge, not do their feasibility study to see what they are getting into? Wait, I forget it was AGIPs, oligarchs and callous profit-seekers who won ' transparent bids' for conceded power Stations and utilities.

I stand vindicated. Anyone can check the archives to see I talked of the danger of how "pseudo-privatisation" may be all GEJ will deliver given the ultra-corrupt and amoral "awon boyz" government he leads that is midwifing the "privatisation" of our power sector. Everyone heard "privatisation" and the premature jubilation began. We all forget that numerous evidence, far too many to count, show that the current PDP government , just like others before it, is the sort to cynically bastardize and ruin processes by putting personal aggrandizement above everything else . This is why every institution tha should be independent in Nigeria today remains heavily compromised and unable to delivey.

What, as I argued in the past, was wrong with giving, as first line solution in a true federalism, Nigerian States the freedom to device their own electrification solution As Fashola, Amaechi and other serious Governors demanded? Instead we had Abdusalami, a soldier turned Politician, and his rapacious layman sort 'winning' bids all over the place. Not good at all. It was always going to end in tears. Nigerians, enjoy your "privatisation". You deserve it for thinking thieves could care about you when their actions show they live to fleece you. I sincerely hope the "privatisation" of the power sector works for Nigeria but excuse me for being cynical.
God bless your brain.

ogugua88: Women who are successful and financially independent intimidate some men for at least a few reasons:

1. They're confident, which can sometimes be interpreted as arrogance.
2. They have their own money and can buy their own things, support themselves, etc.
3. They can make a man feel inferior or inadequate, due to reasons given in point 2.

Men, particularly African men, are raised thinking that they are to be the provider; sole more than likely. Gender stereotyping is still rampant. A woman is to cook and clean; a man is to work. A woman who can do what a man can do renders a man useless.

A lot of men have egos, even if they won't admit it in front of women. In all honesty, however, there are some independent women out there who behave like they have both an egg and sperm. I, personally, think men should be more open to independent women as they've got a lot to offer. They're fierce, bold, and can be your rock in tough times. Meanwhile, independent women should be the go-getters that they are and still be womanly. Make a man feel like the man he is; you don't have to do all and be all because you're successful. No one likes a woman with an attitude, regardless of her wealth, fame, beauty, or whichever assets she may have.
May your brain be blessed! Lol grin

Car Talk / Re: Accident On Lagos Abeokuta Express Road, meiran B/S by patienz(f): 1:03pm On Nov 08, 2013
Siena:

While the wheels were rotating, he had time to notice a brake pad "pulling out"? How? The Vanagon has steel wheels, not alloys that may have large openings to render the brake caliper visible. So how could he spot a brake pad, within a brake caliper (behind a steel wheel) "pulling out"? (remember, this is a guy on a push-bike, trying to maintain balance, and avoid being knocked off his bike by a wayward danfo. And still managing to multi-task, and observe a brake pad "pulling out" from behind a rotating steel wheel? Coupled with the fact that van was travelling at about 25 - 30 mph (based upon the damage on impact).

This guy must have the eyes of a Barn Owl, able to spot the hour hand on a clock move from 3 metres. I need eyes like that! grin

Now do you see where I'm coming from bro? It doesn't make sense, not even to a non-technically-minded person. Meaning this "mechanic" lied! smiley

Exactly. The bottles of stout / beer could have belonged to anyone in the Vanagon, or could have been amongst the general road litter. Either way, it can't be assumed the driver was swigging from those bottles. I'm not just picking at your journalism, this is just what I've observed to be the general trend with Nigerian reportage.

I could throw a blood-stained knife into your front garden, would it then be correct for the members of the NPF to bust into your home, to arrest you on suspicion of murder? Bearing in mind, there hasn't been a body found, heck, the blood-stained knife could have been used to slaughter the pig that's been providing myself and my family with pork for the last couple of days. wink

Now do you see why things are not always what they seem?

luqaz: When a Nigerian National team scores a goal, Nigerians of
all Ethinicity and religion will jump up in jubilation and be
screaming one word, one language and in one
voice,"GOOAALLL".
That moment, we 4get our ethinic, religion and tribalistic
sentiments, whether it was scored by an hausa, igbo or a
yoruba man. We love the feelings, we cherished the
moments, we adore the players, and we sing with one
voice.....Up Super Eagles, Up Golden Eagles, Up Flying
Eagles". Wen we talk about those games, we talk about
"NIGERIA" with one voice. We always wish Nigeria the best
and support Nigeria with our great man power to go all out
for the glory for the interest of "ONE NIGERIA". Nigeria can
work, Nigeria can be a better place, Nigeria can move
forward if only the Hausa man can support the yoruba man in
government, if only the yoruba man can shun every
sentiments and ethnicity to suport the igbo man in govt and
vice versa. Look at d Golden Eaglet, a hausa man (Yahaya),
passes the ball to the igbo man (Kelechi) and the igbo man
tries and dribble his way out of d hurdles just to set up d
yoruba man (Awoniyi) to score. That one goal which was
scored was as a result of the collective responsibility,
hardwork and contribution of all the Ethinic Nationality for
one common goal that will benefit, elevate and sky rocket
this Nation to a greater height. Lets learn from this. We are
one Nigeria and that one Nigeria will only be possible if we
eschew this our habit of ethnic and religion sentiments.
Long Live The Flying Eaglets!
Long Live Nigeria!!
Its been a long time I felt this close to tears about my country! Indeed, we need love, unity & 'brotherliness' to move ahead. . . God bless your heart,

She's a national asset and you all know what happens to Nigerian assets; they are mostly mismanaged. After fani dumped the bytch, ojuku came and helped her. They sort of did overnight marriage and before you know, she started spitting, had bumps and babies started coming.

Ojuku was lonely and needed a fresh blood badly to mend his broken heart considering the defeat, the betrayal against his troops and people arising from his cross country race to ivory coast and the aftermath. The family should let bianca enjoy ojuku's money afterall she was a good asset to ojuku and the nation at large. I only hope she places herself for public offer too so that interested nigerians can apply.

turl:
what an ignorant opinion. I feel sorry for creatives that have to work with people like you. Try copy anything looking half similar to the coca-cola logo and see how their lawyers bend you over and tear you a new one.
I work with small start-ups here in the UK and the logo is a huge part of the development process. Everything is licensed and examined to the smallest detail.
You won't fully appreciate the value of branding as a creative until you've worked in a corporate setting where you have to use specific colours (down to the exact hex values), font (some bodies like a bank in the UK called NatWest have their own specific font designed just for them), page layout design e.t.c

Truth is, in Nigeria, Africa in general, design is hardly ever appreciated. Look at our govt. websites. Even popular blogs like linda ikeji - ugly user interfaces and a whole lot of other issues.

Although I'll point out one thing this guy said that made sense. It's not just about the logo. If the logo looks good but your product is shite, it still won't go anywhere - and that is what branding is, it's the combination of your appearance and your reputation. Coca cola is respected because of both its visual and qualitative appeal.

As a business, your brand should not and cannot be taken for granted, especially during it's early days when people are still getting to know you.
.
At first I was indifferent wen u were insulting dat fellow. Only for me to find out dat u're even worse off! U ended up looking dumb cos u actually mentioned virtually everything u insulted him of.

deandavid: FG urged to facilitate Ibori’s release from London jail

on August 08, 2013 / in News 1:20 am / Comments

OGHARA—MORE than one year after former Delta State governor, Chief James Ibori, was convicted by a London court, his kinsmen and key political stakeholders in Delta State have called on the Federal Government to facilitate his release and subsequent return to Nigeria, describing him as an epitome of infrastructural and human capital development in the state.

Niger Delta activist and Warri chief, Ayirimi Emami, who was among stakeholders that spoke to newsmen in Oghara, the country home of Chief Ibori, shortly after a novelty football match organised to celebrate the former governor’s 55th birthday, described his travail as political, adding that Ibori developed the youths, roads and other infrastructure to better the lots of Deltans.

Chief Emami, Chairman of Itsekiri Regional Development Committee, IRDC, said: “Despite being in prison, if Ibori happens to contest election now, he will win because he is a man of the people.”

Delta State Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Ben Igbakpa, an aide to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, Faith Majemite, a member on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Mr. Henry Ofa and other top political office holders in Delta State, who also bared their minds described the huge turn-out of people at the novelty football match played at the Oghara township stadium between Ibori United of Oghara and Ibori United of Warri as a testament of the ex governor’s popularity and developmental strides while he was in the saddle as Delta State chief executive.

An Oghara indigene, Simon Otobo opined that the Urhobo, who prayed for Ibori’s arrest were now regretting doing so because of the political gulf his absence was causing the Urhobo nation and pleaded for leniency on the part of the Nigerian and British governments.

An elderly woman and a commercial motorcycle rider, Omoko Rose and Edafewogho Ekawhen, respectively, commended the former governor for developing Oghara in Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state and appealed to the Federal Government to work towards Ibori’s release, noting that it would help stabilise the polity.
