DeadPresidents: Not true. Tonali is not a B2B. We do not need a box-to-box midfielder, we need a midfield controller right next to Casemiro. Tonali is perfect for the Erikson role. |

afrodoc: Your case is different. There are people here who are pro-DDG just because people they have real and imaginary beef with are anti-DDG. Some are defending DDG because 1 or 2 of the posters criticizing DDG criticized their own favourite players. It really does not have much to do with understanding the role of a ball playing GK or not. It is the norm here. People take positions on issue based on where their perceive enemies are standing that's why you find so many ridiculous takes here. |

Leyqute: No arguments there. But let's move forward. What's the best step going forward? Sell him at a loss so we can save that 300k weekly wage. I reckon Spurs will have no problems dropping 40-50m. We can use that money to get a better replacement. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 5:44pm On Jul 04, 2023 |
Leyqute: He still got 10 goals in 2 season. That's still a very poor return for a 100m signing.
But let's focus on our own players. Sancho was underwhelming last season. We either improve him or ship him off. He has been underwhelming since he got here |

ChristoBam: Hojlund is touted to be the next big thing. If ETH really believes in this, we should be going for him and a cheap 2nd ST instead of splashing 100m on an Harry Kane.
Everyone talks about signing the next big thing instead of expensive marquee signings. But once another big name gets thrown around, all of these gets thrown into the bush.
Pep and Klopp didn't make all these type of signings until they built a team and knew that marquee signing was the last piece of the puzzle. This is my thinking... |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 3:33pm On Jul 03, 2023 |
Bombblacks: How Is that relevant? We have to sell for ETH to get more money to buy players while other top teams that are expertly run have enough money to get their targets. We have the money but the owners are just greedy. Now, if the rumors transfer budget is to be believed, signing Kane will see us lock up shop as far as incomings are concerned since we haven't been able to raise anything substantial from player sales. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 3:22pm On Jul 03, 2023 |
Bombblacks: Top clubs don't care about resale value. Are you buying him in the hope of selling him for profits or you are buying him to drop world class performances to win trophies? It's better to spend 100milliion on a player that will give 3 to 4 world class seasons like Kane than spending 60 to 80million on potential like Hojund and Kolo Muani. Other top teams are not owned by the Goazers. |

If Sheikh buys the club then I will care less but at this point, I am not sure if we spend £100m on Kane we will have enough funds to strengthen other areas that needs strengthening... |

afrodoc: Arab money doesn’t care about resale value. Arab money cares about winning titles, and Kane gives us the best chance of winning titles now. I don’t think Spurs will sell to us though, that is if we can afford him in the first place. For now, the reality is that the Glazers are still here and we have a limited budget. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 1:46pm On Jul 03, 2023 |
Leyqute: You need to change your perception of Kane. He still has at least 2-3 years at the top. I'm talking 20-league goals season.
If we land Kane, we won't struggle for top 4 and may actually mount a challenge. Over 100m for 3 years of quality football and no resale value, Is it worth it? Liverpool bought Mane and got value from him and eventually sold him before his form dipped for a profit. If Liverpool decide to sell Salah today they'll get at least £70-100m. As of now, even if drops form, no Liverpool fan will question the decision to sign him in the first place. Look at Cit with Sterling, Sane etc. Our problem is that we buy top players at the wrong end of their careers for so much money when we know they don't have any resale value. At other times, we buy average players and place them on ridiculously high wages making it impossible for us to sell when they don't meet our expectations. |

afrodoc: I get you but the experienced striker shouldn’t be Vardy.
I think we should actually go the other way. We should sign an experienced striker to start and a young striker who wouldn’t mind sitting on the bench for now. I don't mind however, I am conscious of the resources available to sign these players. Kane or any other too striker will go for over £100m and we talented young forward will cost between £40-50m. However, we can easily get a talented young striker and an experience striker for under £80m. |

Arsenal are legit building a team that will contend for the title...
Liverpool are strengthening their midfield and will look to strengthen their defence afterwards.
Newcastle have signed Tonali, a very good midfielder and will follow it up with more signings.
Chelsea have been quiet but we know it won't be for too long as they have earned enough from sales to shake the market.
City have quickly replaced Gundogan and are in for Gvardiol...
Spurs have signed a goalie to replace Lloris and they are close to signing Maddison. |

Leyqute: And Haaland scored 50 goals for them last season. And they bought him after they won the league.
Eriksen was also a free transfer, so what are you saying?
Even Alvarez will make a better impact on our football last season than WeGhost.
Kalvin Phillips will probably walk into our starting XI since we're so scanty there. You are saying this because of the season Alvarez just had. Hojlund is another striker with huge potential but no, we want established names. Will any fan here have supported the acquisition of Alvarez as a second option when Martial is out? Phillips is okay if you look at his time at Leeds but he couldn't earn a place in that City team. If Stone is preferred to Phillips then one can not be wrong if he says Phillip has to prove himself all over again. I just checked to confirm Akanji wasn't signed on a free but then, what will the average United fan say of signing a defender from the Buli? I am certain if Manchester United went in for him the fans would have criticized the move. Dortmund concede so many goals, this thread alone will be flooded with stats showing how poor a defender he is. Haaland though is the real deal... |

No wonder they won the treble.
We need at least 4 quality signings to have any chance of a good season next season... Cos, look at who we are competing with! Only Haaland stands out. Akanji a free transfer from Dortmund? Man Utd fans will revolt. Alvarez? You don forget say Man Utd na pressure pot? He wouldn't have played as much as he did at City. Phillips was an okay signing though but they were already stuck in that position. |
