Go and watch Silva, Iniesta, Messi etc and you will see that they help their team retain possession. Then come back, watch as Ronaldo, Rashford and Bruno against Norwich help their team lose possession so easily

Whoever is having that argument with you that the strikers don't have a role to play is definitely not me...I am particular about midfield because you are attempting to put all the blame on the forwards and forwards alone...If I was responding to Expert, I'd also highlight the role of forwards in keeping possession...

In all, a good midfield and defense forms the basis for retaining the ball 70%

Take it or leave it, Busquets is our best midfielder right now. Left to me, I'd ask for one more hand to assist him ( Pjanic would be fine but I doubt we want to see him play) and Jong in the midfield. That way, Pedri ( might walk back in after injury) Gavi, Nico, and Puig can play as substitutes.

The problem here is the backline and forward. As much as I know Dembele cannot be relied on, I see them as one of the top threats upfronts behind only Fati and Depay, so I think we better renew with him and manage his injury ( whatever that means) and get a proper 9. I am exempting Abde and Demir for now.

As for defense, Umtiti played okay yesterday, although rusty and if he can grow well, we should be looking at getting maybe 2 CBs, or maybe 3 ( in case we sell him later)...

Umtiti's case is what I don't get. Injury messed that guy up, I am quietly hoping he picks form...

How can you blame a player that had the highest attempted and successful passes for the team's inability to keep the ball? Why?

For a midfielder, keeping the ball is not just passing it when it gets to you, your ability to receive the ball, spin your marker and pass is key to breaking down the opposition...

Go and watch Busquets, Xavi, Alonso, Modric etc and you'd see how they help their team retain possession as well as initiate attacks by taking out 1 or 2 opposition players either through a quick turn, spin or raking long passes from deep...

Pique, Busi, Lenglet, Alba, Dest etc should be sold or released...

The main problem of the team is not even in attack but midfield (DM) and defense...Only Araujo looks steady, the rest are pants in that defense...

Expert17 doesn't want to see any fault in Bruno, rather he blames Fred whilst eph12 on the other hand thinks Bruno is the reason we can't keep the ball...

The truth is in between but agenda must agend...

I will share my opinion on Rangnick after 10-15 games because I expect the players to be pumped up for his first 5 games or thereabout so, I won't read any meanings to it...

One area I want to see a change is in midfield, McFred against Norwich is a big NO for me, VDB has to play alongside one of the twins. We need to start dominating games. I watched Liverpool vs Villa and whilst they won by a line goal, they attacked up until the final whistle. Liverpool and City create a lot of chances because they are always on the front foot and attack in numbers...

As it stands, no one can replace Jorginho in our team; not even Kante or Kovacic because they are wired differently.

Our attention should even be on our attackers' ineffectiveness. Our defenders are the ones raking up the stats and any off day for them, we struggle.

Ordinary Watford, their 3 attackers owns 90% of their goals not to talk of Liverpool and Manchester City.

People are talking about yesterday's game you're bringing up his overall stats for the season...

TAA has been criticized for being defensively suspect and I think that's why Walker, James and Trippier (He too is bad defensively) are ahead of him but he has quietly gone about improving the defensive side of his game. This season, he has been a bit better in defense and keeps improving. In no time, TAA will be the perfect fullback combining defense and attack in equal measure.

Bruno needs to work on his decision making and passing, I don't know why you find it difficult to accept that he has lapses in his game.

Bruno is so so Indisciplined as a midfield playmaker. So erratic with his passes.
We can never keep possession effectively nor link the midfield and attack with his style of play.
He needs to calm down and understand that times have changed. The team now has a style of play and he will soon find himself out of the first team with these damning displays.
Rashford too is one frustrating player. Maybe this 4222 is just not working for the players or they haven’t adapted yet.
Either way, I am happy to see the team play in a structured way. It will get better with time.

We have talked about Bruno here even when Ole was coach and he was scoring or assisting almost every game...His decision making is poor affects our ability to retain possession...

I won't be surprised if VDB starts ahead of him in our next match.

In all, I want to see a midfield of Fred, VDB and Pigba/Bruno...We can't continue with a pivot of two players who are limited on the ball.

Also, Rangnick should begin to bench players who don't press. Those guys are paid heavily, they should earn their pay jor!
