benji93: My plan isn't to draw this into a back and forth that can get a book deal. I know your kind and as time would have it, Ole now has an appointment with your impressive Nagelsmann. Time sits and presides as judge over all inferences. I won't speak any further on the comparison. You say this because Ole is the coach of Manchester United and not Leipzig...If the tables turned, you won't even give Leipzig a chance because you know Ole is an average coach... |

KingAlabi: Read my post again this time
Slowly Nothing there to read. You are asking us if we want a manager that plays beautiful football or one that will deliver trophies and in response, I asked you if it isn't possible to win trophies whilst playing beautiful football but you started turning round and around. Let me ask another question, which one is Ole serving us; trophies? Good football? Both? None? |

benji93: Clap for yaself. I could equally opine that Pep may not be a good coach. He's always played with teams overflowing with talent. But well we'll never know, since he may never coach a team with little to no talent. Oh, Nagelsmann actually undid Pep, last season. Nagelsmann must be better than Pep. Is that inference good? Point being that, you are all over the place with your inferences, and you carry them as if they are factual. I am definitely looking forward to Ole vs Nagelsmann. We'll get to test one of your inferences. But please keep this energy. Do not make inferences from inferences. Pep has proven to be successful with top teams so he stands out. Ole on the other hand struggled with Cardiff and is still struggling to return Manchester United to the top. What's left is for him to try midtable to see if he can cut it at that level or quit if he fails. Nagelsmann is already a success with Hoeffenheim, the top beckons. Now, if you must draw inferences, you'd say Pep will not win the league with Tottenham but he will have them playing one of the best football and qualifying for the UCL constantly whilst winning one or two cup in between. As for Nagelsmann, you look at what he has done with the resources at his disposal and you'd think he would be better off with a more quality squad. As for Ole, when you see how Manchester United play with the caliber of players we have, you'd be very generous to score him slightly above average. If Ole leaves United today, do you see any top team looking for his services? |

KingAlabi: My question was in relation to Manchester United not other clubs
I asked which will our fans choose
Attractive footy or trophies
And the names coming up here for ole replacement is nagelsmann and ten Haag which according to them can offer us attractive footy but do dey guarantee trophies?, Hence that question.
Yet your bringing up pep and Klopp Are you implying that Manchester United can't win trophies whilst playing attractive football? If no, then why are you giving us options when the both in combination is possible? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 2:17pm On Oct 02, 2020 |
SyIvalord: Mourinho is a manager known for improving the mentality of his players, so mentality may have been a factor in the improvement of the players.
The fact that Julian is supposedly doing well with lesser quality players in a lesser quality league doesn't mean that he will do well with our current players. Emery did relatively well in all the teams he coached before Arsenal, but as soon as he came to arsenal, his reputation was somewhat ruined and he discovered that coaching in the EPL is not quite like coaching in other leagues. EPL is so physical that no matter the tactical genius of the coach, the players cannot afford to be lazy or weak mentally. Once your players have a weak mentality, they will never be able to bring your tactics to life.
I am not saying Julian is not good coach, what i am saying is that you cannot assume that Julian will do well with our current players just because he is doing well with Leipzig. There are too many factors to consider and football isn't so predictable. Who would have thought Emery would fail so woefully with arsenal? Inference... If your line of argument holds water then we can't categorically say Pep is better than Sean Dyche or the other way around since he hasn't coached players the level of Burnley and Sean Dyche hasn't coached a team as good as City but no, in football, we do infer a lot based on certain variables. |

I have said it here before
Which will you take attractive footy or trophies?? First of all, welcome back from Mars. Whilst you were away, Klopp won the UCL in one season and in the next, he won the league. Pep won the league back to back. Bayern won the treble with Flick after struggling in the early part of the season when Kovac coached them. All the above teams won trophies playing beautiful football so, it's not impossible to win and still play well... |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 1:41pm On Oct 02, 2020 |
SyIvalord: You completely ignored the quality of the league. Do you think if Nagelsmann is coaching those RB leipzig players but instead of Bundesliga they play in the EPL, do you think they will make top 4?
I also think the weak mentality and poor fitness of the players make it difficult for people to actually see Ole's Ideas. Quality of players is the crux of the matter. If Nagelsmann coached our players in the EPL, he will do better than Ole as he has proven he can hold his own even against the best not only in the Buli but the UCL. Ole on the other hand is struggling with far superior players which points to the fact that he will certainly do worse with lesser quality players. The second bolded line shows that Ole is not a good manager. Madrid were always getting knocked out in the UCL by Lyon until Mourinho stepped in. I'm certain in those years, people blamed the players for their weak mentality but not after Mou took over the reigns at the Bernabeu. |

TeslaFC: Sancho has pace, and is two-footed, which makes him versatile for both wings. OGS requires his attacking 3 to be fluid.
Sancho plays with ball to feet, similar to Anthony Martial. And he loves to dribble a lot. OGS seems to support players that dance in and around the box more than players that focus on making crosses.
Sancho also has an eye for pass, he possesses a very good playmaking ability, shown by his stat of last season. This means that in the system, the fluidity does not tamper with the quality of passing. For example, Daniel James. James style of play as a LW is different from his style of play as a RW. James plays more as an Inverted Forward when on the left, and as a Traditional Winger when on the right. He can’t play as an Inverted forward on the right because he isn’t two-footed.
Sancho plays as an Inverted forward on both wings because of his two-footedness, but his pace also gives him the ability to become unpredictable. He can either go in dribbling, or outpace defenders and put in a low cross for well-positioned CF to finish off. This is in line with OGS need for a fluid front 3.
Sancho himself is a good finisher, so while reading the game and setting up his teammates, his eye for goal cannot be underestimated, because he can shoot at any time, from anywhere within the box 18. Compare this to Mason Greenwood. Greenwood’s two-foot technique and power shot makes him a problem for keepers to deal with.
Now, let’s look at it from the mental aspect.
Sancho’s stats of last season prove that his decision-making is very good. You can’t rack up 17 assists with a dull brain. He plays for the team, and has good tactical understanding of the game well enough to know when to lay on a goal scoring chance for his teammates.
Sancho, just like Van De Beek has a good off-the-ball movement. Though I believe that VDB is slightly better than him in that aspect. Players with good off-the-ball movement are quality because they already know what to do with the ball before it arrives. That aids the team flow on the pitch.
Despite the hype and media coverage, Sancho seems to remain focused on becoming one of the best in the world. His interviews prove that. It’s not easy for a player of his age to manage such level of hype. That shows a strong mentality.
Lastly, Sancho already knows most of the guys at United, so gelling shouldn’t be a problem.
This is the last time I’ll have to explain stuff like this. If you want to know a player’s style of play, go watch your damn TV. Sancho is not two footed unless I have been watching a different Sancho. I make bold to say he is better on the left or through the middle than out right and if he must play as a right winger then he needs a marauding right back and not what we have in Wan-Bissaka... About the stats, you need to understand our point, Dortmund play an expansive all out attacking football which is a farcry from what you have here so don't expect him to do as much here... |
