I don't understand some of the points I see guys drop here. Are you guys saying that with our present team we can't at least finish in the top four whilst winning one cup competition?
Manchester City have signed a back up winger and Ake who is expected to deputize for Laporte.
Liverpool have signed Tiago who is expected to replace Wjinaldum who looks on his way out and Jota as a back up for their wingers since Shaqiri is always injured.
Chelsea are spending that much because they were banned last summer and have made huge profits in sales over the past 2-3 years.
Leicester City have not really strengthened bar replacing players that have left.
The other teams will flatter to deceive...
We have signed VDB to step in for or play alongside Pogba and Bruno...
In all, whilst we need new reinforcements to challenge for the title, our present team is good enough to make top 4 whilst making a strong run in the cup competition. If Rashford is off form, Ole should tweak the formation to have Rashford on the bench and VDB starting in a 4-4-2 diamond or play 3-5-2 as he did sometimes last season. We mustn't play 4-3-3 all the time.
raumdeuter: Suddenly its no longer about the space they are afforded? you just realize the space they give attackers in the EPL to operate. nobody affords you that much space in the Buli. Even Pulisic that was a Buli benchwarmer became one of the best players in Chelsea last season its no longer about space afforded
Anyway agenda must agend
Well, my argument was not a dig at the Bundesliga if that's what you deduced.
We all know that different leagues have their own characteristic way of playing, for instance the Italian league is slower and I don't expect a Serie A fan to go defensive if someone mentions that.
melodyogonna: Liverpool lost to Wartford that were 20th last season
OMG! Liverpool lost to Watford after going on a long winning run. At the point they lost to Watford, the league was theirs to lose...
You just can't compared the two scenarios...We played absolute rubbish, it's not acceptable for Manchester United with the quality of players we have to play that bad...
One loss on opening day and everyone is having a meltdown. What were you expecting ?
A week ago these same people were the ones lamenting about the lack of transfer activity as other teams were strengthening considerably.
You want to win the league but you don’t want to buy players.
The Liverpools and Man Citys who are way ahead of us and have a better squad are strengthening. Everton, Chelsea, Wolves, etc are also strengthening.
But no, your starting XI is the second best 21-man squad in the league.
Same players who are known to drop disasterclasses from time to time irrespective of their managers - LvG, Mourinho, OGS.
The manager is the easy target.
I’m not going to hold brief for OGS - he Dey Bleep up well well, but if you think replacing United’s coach with Naggelsmann or Pochetrino or any other shiny thing will bring success after one season, you are a joker. They may have a good first season and then they will be hung out to dry.
The United manager is bleeped, irrespective of who he is with that board and owner.
Last season was the second best league campaign we’ve had post-Fergie. This TW should be a very busy one. But they are monitoring players up and down like Lizard.
It’s Deja Vu all over.
Mourinho’s eighty-something points 2nd position is the best league campaign we’ve had post Fergie. The next season things crumbled. Why?
I’m not supporting Mourinho or his style of play here but the fact is that this same board refused to buy him players. They were too expensive, innit?
Okay.
Give Olé 10 games and sack him. Then bring in your preferred coach. After having a good first season, you think this board will back him and buy his players? You think some fans won’t say he didnt submit a transfer list?
For sure, this situation will repeat itself!
Why does United take 2 steps backwards whenever it seems like they’ve taken a step forward? Think about it.
———-
My point? This problem doesn’t have a single solution. You can blame the coach all you want - there’s actually a lot of blames to go around- but the only constant thing at the club post SAF are the Glazers, Ed and the board. Maybe they are the reason SAF retired sef.
Make of that what you want.
And then you people need to cool down your pants whenever United lose a match. Your club’s investment in its team is not proportional to how much money it makes. It’s the opposite. So what were you expecting ??
We lost to Palace, Crystal 'fucking' Palace...We all accept we need new additions but come on bro not to beat Palace...It's not like we played well and lost like we did against Sevilla but we played rubbish, absolute rubbish and got thrashed by Palace...
elrony: Good enough, all the positions we been begging for improvement were pivotal to our loss.
Lemme go and check youth team fixtures, just in case
I pin that loss on Ole for starting TFM and James out on the right...Wan-Bissaka and Greenwood would've been better.
I don't want to see Shaw and Lindelof again.
We play Brighton next and to be honest, I am not confident that we will win. I fear for what Lamptey will do to Shaw. Brighton look very sharp and they play very good football. Bissouma is suspended, I hope his absence will weaken their midfield.
Watching Havertz, you just realize the space they give attackers in the Buli to operate. The dude is struggling to come to terms with the fact that nobody affords you that much space in the EPL...
I am rooting for Naggelsman because his teams play high octane football...I am tired of watching us start a game like we're 3 goals up. Even when we are behind, there's no urgency in our until it's 10-15 mins to go.
I can bet that Klopp won't tolerate the lazy attitude of our players but no, Ole the clueless one will just sit there folding his legs like he knows what he is doing...
Absolute rubbish, that's the intention but watching us play, do we look like the beautiful analysis on paper?
Clueless play, ball goes from De Gea to the Centre backs and from there to the fullbacks or DM and back to the CB rinse and repeat for 90mins.
It was only for a short period las t season where we took the game to the opposition because they sat back but once they figured out that our main threat was through the midfield, he pressed us down the midfield stopping Bruno from receiving the pass from Matic and creating chances and from there, we started struggling. We only look good when we have something going for us for a couple of games but once we get found out, we struggle for as much games as we did well...
Ole is not tactically sound nor does he have a pattern. Often times you see us struggling in games and Ole sits there clueless of what to do...
KingAlabi: I answered your question intelligently even if it was with a question I guess you know that.
Nothing intelligent in that answer. Zidane is all round successful playing to the peak of the Players he has at his disposal. Cross and nod when Ronaldo was in Madrid. Counter/possession depending on the nature of the game.
96forever: problem is we need first teamers than quality bench atm.
However, if we get sancho, Mason automatically drops to the bench which translates to our bench having quality.
From what you saw last season, did it at any point look like Greenwood wasn't top quality? In fact, from when Greenwood broke into the team, he was arguably our best forward player...The only other forward that you can place beside him is Martial yet we are on about replacing Greenwood in the starting 11...
Every top team IN THE WORLD has at least one natural Right-Winger, and I’m being rigid?
Ok.
Martial FC for life sha..
If we can't sign a RW does it mean we shouldn't look forward to what we can achieve this season? Should we just forget the season?
Even if Sancho comes, he'll need a good RB making overlapping runs if not, he will be easily marked out of a game with two men on him...Next season, we'd start operation sign a new RB...
There's little or planning with the way we go about acquisitions in this club...Hackimi perfectly complemented Sancho...Wan-Bissaka? OMG!
GloryIsaac: If you still can’t see the problem, you’re on your own.
Teams play according to their strength...With VDB, we can opt for a diamond midfield and still do well...Van De Beek and Bruno are very attacking minded...
You are the person who is being rigid here, nobody has said Sancho won't make a good addition but not for that price. We can opt for other alternatives that will come cheaper. Our starting front 3 can hold their own against any other team in the league, we just need reliable substitutes for them and if not, we make do with the quality we have in AMF
spillo1: LMFAO....So in a nutshell what you are implying is give klopp/pep our current squad and they will win the league?
You can clearly see that I said only Liverpool and City have a better starting 11...I am 100% certain that a good coach can win the league with our current squad if he is lucky with injuries...
