lekkie073: Everton would not seat back all day like those small-minded teams. This will give us ample space to exploit. Everton will pick their moments to attack with long balls from the back in search for DCL and Richardlison. Lindelof might be targeted because of his difficulty in dealing with long balls. |

Ferguson enjoyed stability sitting on the richest club in the world with very little domestic challenge. Pep has in 10 years spe t over 1.5bn in player transfer coaching the best clubs and players. When Fergie came to Manchester United, Liverpool was the most successful team in the league but after Fergie, Manchester United sat alone at the top of the league. Respect bro, respect! |

raumdeuter: That was because Pep built that team and they are still profiting from his legacy till now. How and why did Pep destroy Ferguson twice in 2 different finals that eye begin dey turn the old man
In 3seasons in EPL he already made point totals which Ferguson never made in 26yrs Before Pep, Barcelona had won the UCL in 2006 so winning after 3 years wasn't the hardest of task. At Bayern, he met a UCL winning team and couldn't make a final after 3 attempts. At City, he took over a UCL semi finalist but after three tries, he is yet to go past the quarters. Fergie coached many title winning teams. I always maintain that reaching the top isn't the most difficult job but staying there for as long as possible. When Ole joined United, we played very well and then things went south. Klopp and Pep will give you a maximum of 3 - 4 years of good football and once their star men fade away or move on, they can't rebuild, they look to move on to start all over again. |

Ferguson intelligence? It stopped when he met Pep in 2 CL finals and was disgraced. Ferguson was so bamboozled he told everyone that Peps Barcelona is the best team he has ever faced in his entire career After Pep, Barcelona has gone on to win the UCL but Pep hasn't won it. Goes to show it was more about the quality of that team rather than Pep. He is a great coach though but sometimes you guys overrate him. |

DeadPresidents: The best defender in his club is also famous for goal keeping skills. That's why he equates Kimpembe's handball with Fred's.
At Bayern Munich, their defenders see nothing wrong with outstretching your arms like you're begging for alms or a miraculous breakthrough and then handling the ball in the 18 yards.
Na their way. You're wicked. I thought of mentioning Boateng in my earlier response to him I choose to hold back just the argument don't degenerate into something else. Kimpembe acted like his mentor is Boateng they so I am not surprised Dayo sees nothing wrong in what he did. |

raumdeuter: Did you see the numerous VAR incidents that have gone against City this season and gone in favor of LiVARpool.
Or you want to bury your head in the sand on those
If its not possible to keep your hand when sliding down tell us if its possible for Kimpembe to keep his hand to himself when jumping and turning You might want to look at the distance the ball had to travel. Kimpembe jumped and had his hands clearly spread typically like a goal keeper will do to stop a shot. Fred on the other hand kept his hands to his body and only tried to support himself when reaching the ground as every human will do. It's like a player placing his hand on his penis when the ball is struck towards it, it is involuntarily done to protect one's self thus the referee never awards a foul in such situations. |

Kimpembe was penalized for a handball when he jumped
How is it possible to jump and keep his hand to himself? Yet VAR gave that penalty unless you expect Kimpembe to be superhuman When City wins, it's because they are good, when they lose, it's because there's an agenda. |

Everton next, hope the boys step up like they've done in the past two games. It's obvious Duncan Ferguson is trying to bring back those long balls Everton was renowned for. They used it to good effect vs Chelsea and I'm certain against us, they'll employ the same tactics this time targeting Lindelof. I hope Maguire helps him out as much as possible because as ugly as that system is, it is very effective... For us, same Line up should suffice as I don't think Pogba is yet fit to play. |

raumdeuter: What was the total shots for both teams? I firmly believe there is an agenda from the level of the FA to ensure City does not win the league this year and we see it playing out week after week where Liverpool get favourable decisions and City get the reverse
An example is this. last man tackle from behind. No foul no penalty no red card No VAR. The same type of contact that resulted in a penalty for Rashford vs City
https://j.gifs.com/GvX05y.gif Van Dijk used his superior strength to shrug off the attacker whilst Bernardo Silva clearly caught Rashford. If Liverpool win the league, it means they've been the best team. |

raumdeuter: Debruyne was already on the right side to assist Bernardo and Silva on the left to asist Sterling. If you are now deploying 2 full backs again, basically you will be having only Rodri in the middle
The luck of the ball didnt go their way, on another day the ref blows a penalty against either Fred or Lindelof handball and we have a different conversation today
vs Chelsea that City won, it took a lose ball from Jorginho plus a deflection for City to open scoring. Replay the City vs Man Utd game this morning with same lineup plus tactics and those key moment go Citys way and we will be talking about a Pep masterclass Those decisions will still be the same, the ref and VAR got it right. I am certain if we played again, same formation and starting 11, we will win. We have the better chances and if not for poor shooting, it'd have been an embarrassing scoreline for Pep. |

raumdeuter: Peps full backs have always tucked into midfield and that was how he won 2 EPL titles on the bounce. If its arrogance well that arrogance won his back to back titles. Why would he change his tactics that won him 2 titles because of Man Utd?
Zinchenko Walker, Delph always did this in the past 2 seasons Sterling and Bernardo Silva could have done with an overlapping fullback as they didn't have the beating of Wan-Bissaka and Shaw respectively. Pep should have overloaded the wings with his fullbacks especially after seeing McTominay and Fred put a halt to the playmaking abilities of Silva and De Bruyne. In fact, it's until late in the game that Rodri realized he had the freedom to step forward with the ball. In the first 35mins, we cut City open easily and I expected that Pep will revert but he stubbornly didn't to our advantage. |

Good thing OGS responded well.
But Walker overlapping against a Man United team can have devastating consequences for City (Ederson especially) if Shaw and Fred remain solid. The question is that would we have kept our shape on the left with one more body there? You saw what happen when Mahrez came in and Walker began to push forward, right? |

Leyqute: He’s lost his best defender and cracks are starting to appear in his squad. So he’s thinking a bit differently.
If Walker ventured forward too much there’ll be too much space behind him which Rashford can make use of. Remember how we scored our 4th goal against Chelsea? He’s afraid of something like that. if he is afraid, why not have Walker do a job on Rashford rather than moving him in field? I am struggling to understand what he intended to achieve with that move when in all honesty, I feared for Shaw up against De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Walker. I am happy Pep got it wrong sha. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 7:25pm On Dec 09, 2019 |
Leyqute: I think he did that because he knew United would rely on counters and he wanted to stop it. He was scared of the pace of Rashford and Dan James.
If Walker ventures deep into our half and they lose the ball Rashford would destroy whichever CB he faces or even Rodri. This is what I find surprising. How can you be afraid of our threat on the break courtesy of our pacy wingers yet you move your fastest winger in field rather than man his position to deal with the threat of Rashford? Only Pep knows. |

elampiro: All these narrow point of view, na wao. You think if Walker bomb forward that he wouldn't leave some space for Rashford, Martial and co to explore. Our forwards are very fast. Actually, the space Rashford had was because Walker was caught out of position most times as he was somewhere around the midfield rather than RB. You can re-watch the match and compare with how he sets up his team most times to see what I am talking about. |

codedguy1: Guy leave story ooo. Its Pep's philosophy, he feels he can win with that approach and wouldn't change it for any team.
How would you expect him to change his approach because he wanted to play against a united he has been beating over the years with that same approach.
Having that kinda mentality, with capable players that can execute it will win you more games than losing.
Because we won this time dosent make him arrogant about tactics or approach used.
Make we chill abeg and savour the win. Watch City often and you'll find Walker pushing beyond Silva when he has the ball. I wonder what Pep was thinking when he instructed Walker to move infield towards the midfield when he'd have been more useful bombarding forward from the RB position. If you followed the game closely, you'd have noticed he revert to the norm when he came to the realization that Manchster United were not going to be pushovers deep into the 2nd half after he brought on Mahrez. Walker began bombarding forward and it caused us problems as Shaw wasn't sure whether to stay with Mahrez or track the run of Walker. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 5:12pm On Dec 09, 2019 |
GloryIsaac: It's his philosophy, can't switch easily because of one game. That's not his philosophy, watch Alves, watch Kimmich, watch Walker last season. Pep sometimes over does it just to come across as tactically sound. If Walker had stuck to his tasked as a RB bombarding forward when necessary, it'd have been very difficult for Shaw and that's why I give Wan-Bissaka props because he was up against not just Sterling but Angelino and he stuck to his task. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 2:50pm On Dec 09, 2019 |
elampiro: Arrogant or following his philosophy? Walker tucking into midfield is more of arrogance. In his first season, he tried it with Sagna and Clichy/Kolarov and it failed. One of the reason why Shaw could comfortably deal with Bernardo Silva was because we didn't see Walker bombing forward. If Walker maintained his position as RB, his runs forward would've served as a perfect distraction for Shaw when up against B. Silva... So, yes it's more of arrogance rather than philosophy. |

Mctom is a fuvking hardworking player, we all saw that when Mou was here, of course, Rashford beasts big games, he started that sh1t when LVG was the manager. So, because we played counter-attack against Man City, we should start saying OGS has improved the players........like WTF? You have a point however, let's savor the moment...
