Eruditor:Chamberlain was a key member of Liverpool's when they reached the UCL final 2 seasons ago, he was injured for a year and nobody complained. Fabinho is just as important for Liverpool as Laporte is for City. Overall, Liverpool have had to deal with more injuries to their first team squad but nobody is using it as an excuse. Regarding City winning the league when Manchester United and Arsenal were in the peak of their powers, I'd say it will be very difficult maybe a title here or there but they wouldn't dominate the league... |
LegoxMetahuman:Lol it's the norm for him...He goes silent when his arguments falls on its head. |
Eruditor:Allison has had his time on the sidelines this season but Liverpool didn't make excuse of his absence. Fabinho, a key cog in that Liverpool midfield has been out for the past couple of weeks yet nobody is talking about him. Salah too has missed games this season. Matip and Lovren are out injured but nobody is making excuses of their absence. If motivation should suffice as an excuse, then we should gives props to the likes of Fergie who also found a way to keep the players motivated in spite of their successes in the league. It is one area where I think Fergie is significantly better than Pep, Mourinho and the likes. I have not added Klopp because I want to see how well he will handle the pressure that comes with staying at the top of the log after they prolly win the league this season but based on his time with BVB, he fits into the bracket of short term managers. Talking about point haul, if you conveniently argue that player quality cannot be measured seasons apart, why don't you apply same logic here? Do you think those points recorded in the past means that this city team with blow any of those title winning teams apart? Will this City team stand a chance against Manchester United's 2008 team? Will they stand a chance against the invincibles of Arsenal? I think not but those teams never won 100 pts in the league doesn't mean they're in anyway inferior... |
larride:Ole is so uninspiring... |
frozen70:Struggling to see the sense in what you just wrote. |
thorrvik55:I hope you're trolling City and not being serious here? |
chidexxy007:Elampiro said our strikers don't move when it's obvious the supporting cast are bad. Imagine Martial and Rashford in the position where Auba and Lacazette had the ball yesterday, they'd have score a couple of goals. Creativity is seriously lacking in our team. Fred will break the play, control our tempo and still be tasked with creating chances especially when McTominay and Pogba are out. Matic is slow and Lingard is nothing to write home about. We have to buy at least 2 CM this January especially if Pogba continues with his recent nonsense...The midfield, Right wing and that defense needs to be sorted out this January then in the summer we can look to strengthen our attack. If we fail to strengthen, it's another season in the Europa league... |

nitrogen:When some of us pointed it out sometime ago, they said not everybody must be Mourinho as if you must go to the extreme when expressing your dissatisfaction with the quality of personnel available for you to work with. Ole isn't even bold enough to have a go at the players after a poor performance. It irks me when I remember that he played under SAF who's anger when we were playing badly was on full display even on the sidelines. Many a times under SAF, we'd have an average 1st half but you'd be certain that even if we were 2 goals down we were going to do a comeback irrespective of who we were up against. I repeat, the huge outlay on Maguire looks like a waste to me. We are conceding almost every other game. Liverpool were like us before VVD came in and stabilized their back 4 with his leadership qualities and performance which inspires confidence among his fellow defenders. Maguire on the other hand hasn't done anything of note to justify the price tag, at the moment, I am forced to ask if we'd be doing any worse with a CB partnership of Smalling and Lindelof deputized by Tuanzebe and Rojo? People are quick to say Ole's signings have been our best players but it's not true. I am not a fan of James, we have seen players like him before, once the opponent realizes that he is only effective when he has space to run and closely marks him, he becomes useless. AWB for all his defensive solidity was ran ragged yesterday because rather than attempt to beat him to the byline and Cross, Auba almost every time choose to cut infield wherein, AWB couldn't slide or dragged him infield and then release Kolisinac on the overlap. Even when Wan-Bissaka pushed forward in the 2nd half as we began mounting pressure, he looked clueless in attack. Raphael when he was here could beat his man and deliver a great cross but with Wan-Bissaka, it doesn't seem natural. Maguire is the worst of the lot, he is slow on the ball and without the ball. See how easy it was for Lacazette to turn such a big man. You can't help but compare him to VVD to see just how much we were fleeced by Leicester City who were supposed to be defensively susceptible after losing Maguire but have gone on to be even better. In one move, VVD creates a goal scoring opportunity with long diagonal passes but our own Danny Shittu will hang on the ball as if he has anything up his sleeves only to pass the ball to Shaw when pressed. He is already looking like the worse buy of the season especially if Pepe finds his feet. Ole has big decisions to make like dropping Shaw and De Gea, demanding more from Rashford away from the goals he has scored wherein, he has been poor in most of the games, challenging AWB to do better up front or risk losing his place in the team to Dalot (I suspect Dalot is not injured), dropping Maguire or taking the captain's armband off him. In all, I don't trust Ole to be bold enough to do any of the aforementioned so we just have to live with mediocrity... |

Na Manchester United cause am na. I almost break bottle for the DJ head when him increase the volume. Manchester dey give me headache him come carry music wan join. |
Roland17:We're all Yuropa league ambassadors, this your victory over us changes nothing... ![]() |
CrystalTiger:Ole is a fool. Lampard could already see Chelsea were going to be overrun in midfield immediately he changed formation and personnel and from then, they grabbed a foothold in the midfield and game in general. Ole saw Arsenal tearing us open through the wings and Ozil having a filled day but the renowned PE teacher sat there watching like a child from the village who just visited the city and met Santa. If Lingard starts our next game then I might have to download Ole and Lingard's photo and take to my village shrine. |
Williams should start as the LB going forward and Ethan Laird should deputize for AWB who remains clueless in attack. Matic tried but he slowed our play allowing Arsenal to regroup. We really missed McTominay tonight. Lingard should have his contract paper shredded. Rashford for all his goals is a silent problem that is budding, he can't play CF and when closely marked, he doesn't have the skill set to beat his marker. When Martial moved to the left, he began troubling Arsneal's left side forcing Pepe to track back. James had a bright spark in the opening minutes when Arsenal pushed forward but as soon as Kolasinac decided to be more disciplined in his play, James was useless. For all his endeavor, he is a squad player at best unless we are up against City where Pep foolishly refuses to change his tactics in the face of danger. Maguire for that amount is a waste. Where is the coordination in that defense? He hangs onto the ball way too long and his long balls are a far cry from what you will expect from him...If only we had Virgil Van Dijk... De Gea is suspect, Romero should be given more game time. In the summer, if any club table an offer, we should sell him and go after Oblak or trust Henderson. Fred has come of age, he was the best player for us today followed by Martial. Greenwood for the time he was on did more than Lingard for the past 3 games. Pereira should have scored if he was a bit more composed...Defeat taste bitter but we live to go it again... |
Larride, this Maguire na mumu |
Martial has to drop deep to create chances but a certain Lingard is on the pitch. God, please help us do something to that idiot. |
BikeMan:Thunder locate your balls there... ![]() |
As AMF, shouldn't Lingard's role be to connect midfield and attack? How many times has the bastard touched the ball? He runs aimlessly all game in a bid to deceive those who are fooled by his antics... I will celebrate if he tears his anterior cruciate ligament... |
Ole is a fool, why Lingard? That idiot practically does nothing all game yet Ole starts him over Greenwood. Our pressing is not coordinated that's why Arsenal are beating it, same Arsenal that are renowned for making mistakes whilst playing from the back. Take off that idiot called Lingard for Greenwood. Maguire is money well wasted. He doesn't inspire confidence forget the fact that he tries to act calm on the ball, he hangs on the ball that long because he is clueless. |
Eruditor:You have been drawing my POV into your discussion with Larride which he might not have subscribed to then. In another post back then, I clearly acknowledged that for the sake of argument we can sometime try to stretch things. I believed that Manchester United team then had the capability to compete with Pep's team after placing the respective players side by side but I admit I was overstretching it. For instance, I always believed Mata can be our Silva whilst Valencia and Walker were similar players. I thought Pogba could be our De Bruyne and Lukaku could score the goals we needed just as De Gea was superior to their keeper then but to be honest, I judged Mata using his output for Chelsea same way I did for Lukaku assuming that if he scored goals playing for a lesser talented Everton side, he could do better with Manchester United but no, things didn't quite work out as I thought... The performance of the respective players over the past couple of years goes to show that I was wrong thus my position then shouldn't be used as a yardstick in your exchange with Larride who probably held a divergent opinion. I believe Pep's input improved the likes of Walker and to some extent Sterling but players like David Silva, Aguero, De Bruyne and Fernandinho were already established and formed the core of his team. Manchester United like many other clubs didn't have that core base or the players were already aging and I believe it's what Larride is trying to point out to you. |
Pogba can go to hell... |
With Chelsea drawing and Spurs losing, the pressure is on us to get the maximum points vs Arsenal in order to close the gap with Chelsea and put some distance between us and Spurs. |
eph12:If you watched their game vs Liverpool you'd have seen the signs. If they weren't bad in front of goal, they'd have drawn or beaten Liverpool... |
Oasis007:I am confident now. I believe we have found a way past small teams. ![]() |
Funny enough, the states we think aren't economically viable are doing the needful however, oil rich states with 13% derivation and bumper allocation from the FG are lagging behind...Most politicians in the South-South are greedy. |
Happy new year folks... |
Eruditor:Goes to show how faulty your logic is basing your reason on league position. In a couple of years, one lunatic will come here to say Mou's team that finished 2nd is on the same level with the Liverpool team that finished 2nd citing their respective league finishes without considering the point difference and quality of players. Pep met a better squad. I understand that for argument sake, one might want to say otherwise but it is obvious. |
Eruditor:Larride asked who met a better squad and you're talking about league position... It's like somebody comparing the Manchester United team that finished 2nd under Mourinho vs the Liverpool team that finished second last season... |
Akpabio looted but he worked even more. I rate him as one of the best ever governor to have governed any Nigerian state. Anytime I find myself in Akwa Ibom, I weep for my state, how we went Duke to Imoke and now Ayade even in the face of dwindling allocation, Cross River should be doing better... Umahi is another guy who is doing well... |
Mgbadike80:Fact...Just 5 years ago, I know how much I earned. 5 years after, I know how far I have come. |
