eph12: How you guys think each part of a team (defense, midfield and attack) function in isolation amazes me. The defence can never be solid unless the midfield and attack do their part. The only other option is to play community defending like what we did under Mourinho in his second year here. In other words, it's more of the system and not the personnel? It's the same reason why I think Dalot as RB rather than a 50m outlay for Wan-Bissaka would have served us better... Will we be any worse with a back 4 of; Dalot...... Tuanzebe...... Lindelof......... Shaw? Ole should be shown the door ASAP... |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 1:02pm On Oct 13, 2019 |
And for those praising Maguire and Wan-Bissaka, look at Palace and Leicester, their defence is doing better or on par with ours...
We have not improved in any department, the defence is still shaky, the midfield is poor bar Pogba and the attack is clueless since Martial got injured...
Ole should go...Look at Sterling at City, Pep has impacted on his game, his positioning is top notch now. Walker who was all about pace and power is now more intelligent on the ball, he chooses when to use his pace unlike before when at every opportunity he went for pace and power. We have Rashford and James with pace and nothing but pace. Why Ole can't coach them to apply a bit of sense rather than always trying to use their speed in every scenario shows how clueless he is. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 12:56pm On Oct 13, 2019 |
One thing we can't argue regardless is the fact that the board have tried over the past couple of years. The quality on show doesn't in any wayatch the huge outlay over the past few years.
Against Newcastle, we paraded a midfield of Fred, Pereira and McTonimay and in attack, Rashford, James and Mata...That's relegation quality we're parading.
We need to decide what kind of football we want to play and sign players accordingly and not just allow any useless manager come in and waste resources on average players. |

Eruditor: Patrick be honest,
RM were at their peak under Mou.
He used his agbero style to destroy it.
He did same with Chelsea (15/16) You can't be so sure they were at their peak... To be sincere, I think Pep is a fantastic coach, Mourinho too but he needs to reinvent himself to fit into the modern game...For me, the argument is unnecessary. |

Eruditor: But had got 96, 91 100pts in the league progressively?
#Fail Dayo said after Bayern's treble, the players were out of their peak period by making reference to the fact that they peaked when they won the treble... So,why can't Mou failure to win the UCL in Madrid be tied to the fact that the players then had not reached the peak of their career? Now, this is me pointing out the selectivity in application of certain logic in the whole argument you guys have been having here... |

So they still can lose 2 more games and still get 98pts.
Want to bet Liverpool cannot get 97pts again? Since you're so sure of City, why not bet that will hit the 98 pts mark again? |

EruditorII: Of course,
When I am being emotional I will tell you.
I actually want Pep to win the UCL.
The league is a forgone conclusion. The only reason people are this excited is...because it is Liverpool and because they hate Pep.
Fergie was winning league titles from Wenger 12pts behind in December. I wonder why people don't see that 8pts is not insurmountable.
8pts is just 2 Losses and a draw which Liverpool will more than have.
They are most likely going to drop points at United, At Emirates, at Etihad and (even Anfield but I am still praying about that one). Leicester away. Everton away.
You can save this post. And City will keep winning abi? |

footiemaniac: Your darling Pochettino has lost 17 Matches in 2019, the worst of all premier league team and you want us to hire him because you don't like Ole. Pochettino and Spurs are perfect fit they can continue celebrating top 4 finish for the Last 4 seasons since that is like winning a trophy to them. I can't imagine any manager at Manchester united for 5 seasons without winning a spoon.
I repeat, Pochettino is an average manager , slow down with the hype. Getting beat by Colchester, conceding 7 goals at home in a European game and following it up with 3-0 loss to Brighton. If you like keep writing more epistle to defend such mediocrity just because you want Ole out. Manchester united is bigger than Poch, he has found his level at Spurs. Very funny, didn't Fergie fail to qualify from a UCL group that had Lille and Villareal? Didn't Fergie lose a derby embarrassingly? Didn't MK Dons beat us? You have found your voice now that Spurs are obviously having things tough. Though Poch hasn't won a trophy, Tottenham board are satisfied because they haven't exactly backed him in the transfer market. It was folks like you that was saying Sarri hasn't won anything before he came to Chelsea and won the Europa League. Now he is at Juventus with the financial muscle and quality players at his disposal, can your bet that Sarri won't win at least the league come the end of the season? The problems at Spurs is not caused by Poch, you have disgruntled players who deservedly should be earning more but are on a ridiculously low wages compared to their peers in other teams who in most cases are less untalented and on the other hand you have Levy who is too stubborn to realize that at some point which is now, the club have got to break their wage structure to keep their top players happy and performing. If Erikson was at United, he'd be earning at least 250-300k weekly same with Alderweireld, Kane, Son etc. |

DeadPresidents: Within a month, McTominay's lawyer will take United to court with a complaint of 'workplace endangerment'.
That's because Scott will be doing the defensive donkey work of two midfielders that are absolutely fantastic at losing the ball to opposition.
Scott's attorney will charge United with trying to kill his client with overwork.
Jokes apart, I don't think Pogba and Bruno Fernandes can work in the same formation. What we need is a midfielder to partner Scott who's fantastic at setting the tempo of the game and distribution while also cutting out passing lanes with good positioning which can allow Pogba go forward and McTominay can help with picking up the pieces.
I'm talking about a player like Frenkie de Jong but I think someone like Sandro Tonali could do a decent job. I am cool with Pogba playing beside Scott, he should build his game around dictating play from deep with the occasional burst forward...Fernandez can be the 10 we need to make our midfield click since Ole is hell bent on playing 4 2 3 1... lordfalcao: matips takes more risk amongst all Liverpool defence..
Vvd likes playing it safe Abeg stop it already... Who created that chance for Mane against Sheffield United with a raking long pass from defense? In the UEFA super cup, VVD pinned about 4 long balls to Salah that saw him 1v1 against Zouma but Salah was useless that day, he couldn't make any of the passes count. VVD is better with the ball at his feet driving forward and pinging long balls... |
