I am very upset right now...

Lingard shouldn't be starting, dude is bang below average.

The midfield is a mess, you released Fellaini first and then Herrera but refused to replace them and even the young players you harped about, you don't play them.

Solskjaer takes the blame for persisting with Lingard. A very long season ahead.

Solskjaer and his team selection tho...

Why Chong and Gomes are not on the bench is beyond me.

Forget Morata put me with him and I could score 10 or more goals in the EPL with De Bruyne assisting me.
His pass technique is the bomb, they dont just go in the direction, they are bolted through with high speed, even go right by a few defenders cause the ball is moving so fast, and then come to a stop at the perfect place in front of the running attacker, i havent even seen Messi or Xavi do that, the one player i've seen do that was prime fabregas from his Arsenal days (he was never the same after having to adapt to playing out of position for barcelona).
At the bolded, you haven't been watching Messi...Messi whose through passes takes out 3-4 players? My brother, this one na fallacy.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by patrickmuf(m):
Hazard is a super player, very good with the ball at his feet but then, this argument is about certain aspects of their game.

Just like Messi in attack who almost always does the right thing, he shoots when he is supposed to shoot, passes when he is supposed to pass and at times, he sees what even we who are watching don't see, so is De Bruyne in midfield, he knows when the pass and at what weight. At the moment, only player that comes close to De Bruyne and Messi in terms of knowing what to do with the ball at almost all times is Erikson.

Hazard is much like Ribery, they have their own unique quality, they draw opposition players towards themselves creating space others. Messi also has this ability (The reason why most folks think he is the best and rightly so).

The both are excellent players though...

You don't expect Wan-Bissaka to attack when the player in front of him is Daniel James who more often than not, hugs the touch line.

The one time AWB delivered a cross into the box, he found Lingard who missed and another time, Lingard was caught flat footed after AWB passed a great ball to him.

It will be difficult for any fullback to play with Daniel James and still function in attack. At the moment, seeing that Shaw is our weakest link defensively and in view of DJ's defensive contribution, I'd play DJ on the left and Rashford as RWF (not RW)

Ole will be forced to use Matic or Fred as it is like this.
I'd rather have Fred or worse case scenario, Garner after we all saw a 16 year old dominate a game vs PSG yesterday. If he is good enough, he is old enough.

If na manager wey get sense, Rashford should not be taking freekicks and Pogba should not be taking PKs and he should sure as hell not be waiting till the 88th minute to make a double sub.
We seriously need to sign a big player up front just so Rashford's ego is punctured.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 10:27pm On Aug 19, 2019
I fault Ole for leaving it late with the substitution. Lingard shouldn't be on the field that long, he failed completely to link defense with attack, Pereira can't be that bad. I don't like the perceived favoritism he has towards English players.

DJ should be an impact sub for now especially when teams are tiring out. He thrives when he has space to run and today, the Wolves LB didn't give him that space thus I expected Ole to pull him off for a player who is more technically gifted.

Shaw is our biggest flaw in defense, his poor positioning sees Maguire puiled out of position often and forces Wan-Bissaka to tuck in as a CB. The most annoying thing is that his lapses isn't because he is attacking like Marcelo o! He has been the biggest disappointment over two legs.

I choose to spare Pogba his blushes today, he missed the PK and misplaced passes but he still did well.
What I don't understand is why he is tasked to sit back while McTonimay joins the attack often, I'd rather have Pogba forward and this is where Fred/Pereira have to step up, we need a good partner for McTonimay at the base of our midfield so we can push Pogba further forward.

Crystal Palace next, we go again...

Maddison is a very good player, in the words of Kagawa10, he has that spatial awareness and great touch as well as pass that you have come to expect from the very best midfielders.

Alderweireld should’ve prevented that 2nd goal by moving in front of Aguero during that last split second.

Some of the finished products D. Levy wants to dump at OT. SMH
Alderweireld made just that one mistake, he was Spurs best defender. I even think Sanchez should have cut out that cross if he was well positioned.

They were all on the same team. Hudson-Odoi, Gomes and Foden are younger than Brewster, and Brewster is just a week younger than Sancho.
Liverpool fans think Brewster is better than Greenwood. If they go on to achieve their potentials, the rivalry initiated by fans will be huge.

Sancho has better dribbling and passing ability but is not as fast or hardworking as Rashford. He also tends to make better decisions than Rashford.
It is difficult to judge because the Bundesliga is such a crap league even otu oshi like Mkhitaryan was king there. However if i was to hazard a guess i would bet on Sancho eclipsing Rashford.

One should also bear in mind that in the England junior set up with Angel Gomes, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Phil Foden, Brewster e.t.c Sancho was the best player. His youth exploits coupled with him delivering on his potential in Germany is why i am so high on him. He was essentially that group's Greenwood.
Brewster is much younger na.

The local fans rate O'Connor highly but for some reason it appears the bosses don't.
O'Connor has played RB, LB, CB at different times quite well, though he is obviously too small to play CB at the senior level.

Williams is just a few months younger and also plays LB (though he is predominantly right footed). Better than O'Connor going forward though he has a wicked streak in him and will likely be a card magnet.

Laird is the youngest but most hyped of the 3. His path to the senior team was looking the easiest until the club bought AWB.

Summary is we have 2 RBs and 2 LBs in the reserves who are waiting in the wings to take Ashley Young's place on the bench.
Lee O'Connor looks very assured with the ball, I took note of his passing abilities.

Some of your criticism of Shaw was way overboard but other times, you were right. He is now the weakest link in that defense. We can only hope that he picks up knowing too well that he is a slow starter.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 10:28am On Aug 13, 2019
Shaw needs to improve for the defence line to remain in position and we desperately need a DM who will sit in front of the back 4 and I am not sure McTonimay is that DM, he is best as a box-2-box CM...

The one player I can think of who has the mobility and strength to man that position is TFM. Matic is past it and Fred blows hot and cold.

If Jones wasn't a sick bay, I'd have suggested him.

Against Chelsea? i don't think so

Better to bring them on as subs.

Lingard in the middle and James on the right.

Rashford, Martial and James will end up roaming and switching positions throughout the match anyway
Chelsea will likely be more conservative so I don't really think James will do much damage to them and he isn't clinical.
Lingard or Greenwood should man that RW.

It's a normal ritual here, before the season proper starts, you see a lot of Arsenal fans on here but when you get to the business end of things, you only find Roland, Fkhalifa, the Solomon guy, kokane, spy360 and sod here. The thread becomes completely deserted, a place more quiet than ghost town.

The two James are not with the squad, my observation.
No McTonimay? At least Garner should have been in the squad.
Only the first game and our midfield deficiency is clearly obvious. Jones might play as 4 if this squad news is correct.

Liverpool looked good yesterday, City looked even better today, Spurs will improve with Son back to the squad as well as Lo Celso. 8f Spurs had gotten Dybala then I would have had them on par with Liverpool and City but for now, they stand an outside chance of going all the way especially if they keep Erikson (He might be a yard slower but he still has that eye for the pass).

Let us hope that we win and play well tomorrow, it'd be a confidence booster going forward.

I think Iwobi's Everton move is beneficial to all parties.

Arsenal gets a decent price for an academic product that didn't really meet expections at 23. He was still preferred over Nelson and Saka, but 40m was too good to pass by.

Iwobi gets a chance to play his preferred position, while getting more pay. He also gets another opportunity to springboard his career.

Everton gets a utility player, in replacement for failed Zaha bid. He is EpL experienced and will surely add quality to their squad.
Sigurdson is still at Everton, Iwobi will be shunted out wide.
