Kemetian: Shocking lack of intelligence displayed on this thread.
Why exactly should Nigeria spend billions of dollars on cutting edge “air defence systems” in anticipation of Missiles from Who exactly?
America?
Britain?
Israel?
China?
Iran?
Who tori Olorun?
Who wants to drop Cruise Missiles or Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles into Nigeria?
Every country worth its salt has billions of dollars of investments In Nigeria, plus planned investments, from China to Russia to even Iran!
If we are talking of military ranking, Nigeria is 3rd in Africa after Egypt and Algeria.
In fact we’re 2nd. It’s not fair to add Egypt because they are heavily funded and armed by the US as a counterweight to Iran etc in that region.
Nigeria ranks a very respectable 31st on Earth, out of a world of 202 countries.
The Nigerian military ranks above Portugal, the Netherlands, Mexico, Argentina, South Africa, Morocco, Switzerland, Colombia, and many other countries. See link below to Global Firepower Index.
The military does not spend money on equipment for which there is no rationale.
Nigerian military spends big money on armoured carriers and such equipment for its most pressing issues - terrorists.
Iran military spends big money on air defence systems because her own problems are different from our own. She is facing Israel. Enemies.
Pakistan spends big on air defence systems because of India with whom they have endless problems.
But you can bet that Sri Lanka and Bangladesh next door to Pakistan Don’t have any big “air defence systems”.
Why? Because they have no threat or enemies to expect a cruise missile attack from.
So military equipment procurement is not about ‘bragging rights’, you children.
It’s about strategic procurement based on your current threats.
See the respected Global Firepower Index for national rankings.

If the reports are to be believed, I expect Brentford to accept the bid we have put in for Mbeumo. If we get Mbeumo, we will still need to sign a good CF. The big question is whether we have the funds for that especially when you see how we are struggling to offload players.
Rashford, Sancho, Antony, Hojlund (leave on loan or we sell at a huge loss) should be hawked around Europe or Saudi Arabia, we must find a willing buyer, else I don't see where the funds will come from for us to sign a CF and at least one DM/CM...We also need a CB whilst at it unless the club believe the likes of Heaven and Martinez will be fit for the entirety of the season.
Casemiro looks like he is staying. |

No one accepts an appointment into any government with the assurance that the government will perform; you accept an appointment hoping that the government will live up to its promise, and you, in turn, will contribute your quota.
What responsible leaders do is that they accept the call to national service and when they get in there and notice the government is not all about service to the people, they resign their appointment. El Rufai is sounding this way because he wouldn't have resigned. He would have been at the forefront defending the very policies he is criticising... |

Griffon: City completed almost an overhaul. Would begin a season for the first time in ages without their talisman KDB. They’re going to need time to gel and get accustomed to whatever style Pep will be introducing this time.
Conversely, Liverpool has a working system on ground already. They only made few like for like replacements - you can think of it as upgrades to an extent.
Frimpong has same attacking output as Trent if not better and is still defensively stronger than the Englishman. Kerkez and Robertson are almost on par but the former has many years ahead of him. Then you have Wirtz who is coming to make that LW his.
These reinforcements were all made while retaining the base core of the team - Allison, VVD, Gravenbech, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister and Salah.
They’re favorites to retain the title. Wirtz is taking Szoboszlia's position in the team. Gakpo and Diaz will vie for the LWF position. |

afrodoc2: Yes. Israel always wants more and more US involvement definitely. I was just addressing your claim that they have the bombs to effectively decimate those sites. They really don't have the bombs for some of the sites because of the depth and reinforcement.
To do a good job they need the US bombs. It just so happens that it would also mean more direct US involvement. Netanyahu is a devious fanatic and does not mind all-out war in order to cripple Iran and force regime change over there. That is his end game. He does not want peace or any yeye treaty. He is thinking of 10-20 years ahead when a strong man like him might not be in charge of Israel again. Well, let's see if the US will cave in to their demands. |

afrodoc2: The Fordow nuclear enrichment facility is about 80m underground. The most powerful Israeli bombs are 1.6-1.8 tons in size and can't get to that depth to good effect. This is why the Israelis want the US to send their B-2 bombers which have superior stealth and also carry 14-ton bombs which can penetrate to the Fordow facility level. Isn't that going to mean direct involvement of US in the war? Sure it is and it is what the Israelis want. |

BlueRayDick: Let me get this straight, u are equating Hamas Underground tunnels to be the same as Iranian nuclear sites constructed underneath mountains and bunkers?
Like u think Israel being able to access Hamas tunnels that is within their backyard is the same as Israel using bunker busting bombs in hostile Iranian airspace?
😲😲😲😲😲 Israel has access to the bombs America have in their arsenal only that the Iranian terrain is that difficult. I made mention of the Torra Borra mountains for a reason. Israel is not used to being on the receiving end; they are desperate to decapitate Iran, and that's why they want the US involved. |

BlueRayDick: When u said the US doesn’t want to get directly involved , I don’t really know what u mean .
What the Israeli wants from the US is just bunker buster bombs to destroy Iranian underground nuclear sites . Don’t forget the only reason Israel is on the offensive is to thwart every efforts of Iran to have a fully functional nuclear programme .
All Israel requires is bunker buster bombs to neutralize the Iranian nuclear sites they already identified . They don’t need US special forces being deployed to fight alongside Israeli forces .
So when u say the US doesn’t want to get directly involved , are u saying the US doesn’t want to provide bunker buster bombs to Israel when we all know the US is averse to the idea of Iran having nuclear weapons ?
Make it make sense bro . What bombs has Israel been using to destroy underground tunnels in Gaza? Israel already has that just that the terrain in Iran is much more difficult. I remember when America bombed the Torra Borra mountains in Afghanistan until they got tired...Israel is getting hit, they need American support to neutralise Iran. At the moment the US and other NATO allies are only helping to defend Israel by shooting down Iranian drones and missiles over Jordanian, Iraqi and Syrian airspace. Israel however wants the US to join them on the offensive. If it does not make sense to you then leave it. |

BlueRayDick: IF
Why the word if again ? I thought everybody already agreed Israel rely on their allies and they always come through for them. So why not let’s assume “If” the US steps in, what becomes of Iran ? The situation here is quite different, the US does not want to get directly involved in the confrontation. Of course, we know they'll arm Israel and provide them with advance warning of Iranian attack but getting directly involved in the hostilities will likely take an Iranian attack on one of their Middle East bases to prompt that. The pressure back home for the US not to get involved is high thus the "If"... |

BlueRayDick: Yes and Israel has successfully hit multiple military installations and oil facilities within the Iranian capital since the war started . Definitely Israel will do more damage to Iran, but Iran is a big country, and they'll hang in there for as long as possible, but I can't say the same about Israel. The Iranians will not flinch even if 500,000 people lost their lives, but in Israel, if the casualties begin to mount and the US doesn't step in, they'll push for a truce through their allies. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by patrickmuf(m): 7:03am On Jun 15, 2025 |
At this point, Iran should not attack the US bases until the US attacks Iran. Just keep pounding Israel, in a long war of attrition, Israel will back down...
Israel can take so much damage and still remain standing, but the same can not be said of Israel. I hear Netanyahu is already courting the US to join the war. Still, Trump is facing a lot of pressure domestically not to join the war, especially after he promised to put the interest of America first during the campaigns...
I just hope Iran does not give the US the slightest excuse to join the war. If I were President Xi, now is the time to take Taiwan...Stretch the US and NATO to their limit. |

airmark: I don't think Gyokeres will be so short of suitors to be forced to move to a team like Man UTD, bleeding internally and externally.
It's too early to see him settling for your team. Chelsea should go for him and sell/loan Jackson to your team. Everybody smiles. Gyokeres is really short of Suitors. A major striker transfer has to happen to spark a transfer merry-go-round. For instance, if Liverpool signs Alvarez, you can be sure Atlético will go all out for Osimhen or Gyokeres... There's no news of Chelsea wanting to sell Jackson, Delap is new to the team, so it will be crazy to sell a Striker like Jackson, who is getting better season after season, for an unproven Delap. I suspect Chelsea will stick with both players and look to add another player with a similar profile to Nkunku (if he is sold)...I actually thought you guys would go after Cunha, who can play from the left or as a CF. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 10:18pm On Jun 14, 2025 |
airmark: @Patrickmuf, it was Delap and now Gyokeres. Bring 50m with 'abeg', before Jackson will find a Ucl team to join.
Be fast. Fabrizio is just farming engagement...Gyokeres will end up at United. Arsenal are after Sesko, so realistically his only options are Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United...Chelsea have signed Delap to the compete with Jackson, the only way they will sign another striker is if Jackson is sold but it doesn't look likely. Liverpool will need to offload Nunez if they must sign another striker and even if they do, they'd likely go for Alvarez. Manchester United are the other option, at United he is guaranteed a start place in the team and having worked with Amorim before, he should have no problems fitting in...They downside is that United have no UCL football to offer. The ball is in his court, it is either he joins United now or hope that Arsenal's move for Sesko doesn't go through or stay in Sorting for one more year and hope that next summer Barcelona will be after him as a replacement for Lewy. Does he have the luxury of time to wait? I think not, so it's now or never for him... If he goes to Arsenal, he should know that he is going there as Arteta's preferred CF thus he might find himself behind Havertz in the perking order...Arteta na that kind man...😂 |
