cstr1001: Are you kidding me?
City overplayed us in that game. Controlled the midfield, and gave us little time on the ball.
Morata and Hazard helped as best they can by trying to hold the ball and match flair with flair with very little success, but once Morata left, chelsea became utterly toothless and more coward-like even without a man down. City lost chance after chance after chance from sane, Jesus, Debruyne. We were lucky not to concede before we did.
Btw, Why do you think Chelsea is called counter-attacking team? Is it because we like it? No. It is because we don't have the team to dominate any world class team or the manager to build it for a long time now. Spot on... |

Sanchez is sounding like a strong possibility especially with that Mourinho quote...Pay up for Sanchez now especially as he isn't cup (UCL) tied. We should sign a pre contract agreement with Ozil and get him on a free come summer cos we can't register the both of them in the UCL if we get them now... |

Leyqute: The news doesn't make sense. What will Mahrez add to Liverpool that Salah doesn't? And I'm sure Mahrez won't be interested in coming to sit on the bench at Liverpool. The ideal replacement for Coutinho would be an AM, preferably one who operates from the left side of the pitch. Well, I want to believe Mahrez can do a good job as an AM in front of a double pivot of Can and Hendo now and Hendo and Keita next summer. The attacking trident remains Mane - Firmino - Salah. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 12:09pm On Jan 07, 2018 |
Leyqute: I'm not too keen about that guy. We really don't need an AM ATM IMO. Let's get a B2B ball winner to partner Matic and leave Pogba to roam in front of them. That will mean shunting Lingard to the right if we agree he is a guaranteed starter atleast based on form and for me, isn't suited to playing from the wings cos he doesn't have the trickery or stamina to go past opposition fullbacks...Thus if we get a B2B midfielder to partner Matic and push Pogba forward, Lingard will definitely drop the bench. At the moment, I'd say we go for a RB, RW and B2B midfielder. Any other signing should be based on market value e.g Ozil/Sanchez on a cheap or free transfer in the summer |

olabode89: Hmmmm... stop throwing unnecessary shots at them Blazers, Since Fergie left they have been paying top dollars for highly rated players as listed below;
Pogba £89M Martial £57M Di Maria ~£60M Lindelof £35M Matic £40M
I expect United to get either of Dybala or Harry Kane in the summer. It will be easier if we can get some top quality guys that will be out of contract by the summer for free or for small fees. The likes of Ozil and Goretzka comes to mind.
The Glazers will break the bank for a "bankable" player. Spot on, the days when the Glazers were tight fisted is long gone, we have spent mega bucks to get Pogba (At one point the most expensive transfer in history), Lukaku, Di Maria, Martial, Shaw, Matic etc...I believe when the right player is available Woodward will swoop in and do it the United way. |

Some folks here are seriously getting it wrong with Rakitic, he is definitely better than Paulinho going forward, you can go back to his Sevilla days for clues, he has had to sacrifice his attacking forays to bring a bit of stability to that Barca midfield. Thus he is a must for a two man midfield with Busi... On the other hand, if Dembele doesn't get going, Coutinho can play from the left wing while the midfield of Busquets, Rakitic/Iniesta and Paulinho remain unchanged. |

PietroRico: I'm not even that big on dybala. If we must get a 10, there's ozil at home. It would be foolish to spend significantly on a position where we have possibly more bodies than anywhere else on the pitch I agree, Ozil will come cheap if we must get him now, I have this gut feeling he was prolly holding out for Barcelona but now they've signed Coutinho, I suggest we go in head long for him. While we are at it, we should also go in hard for Sanchez. That's 2 world class players on the cheap or free come summer. We need to start hoarding talents like Barca, Madrid, Bayern, City and PSG... |

raumdeuter: Ballack was their best player in 2002 not Ze Roberto who couldnt even make his NT
At least we have eliminated the option of it being Lucio, Neuville Basturk Ramelow or all those yeye players you listed earlier Basturk was a key member of that Turkish team that reached the semi final of the world cup, Lucio won the world cup, some others members of that Bayer team were in the German team that reach the final of the world cup so what exactly is your point? If you claimed Ballack was the one that dragged them, I don‘t know what you're gonna say of Kahn that was the player of the tournament...Your argument doesn't hold water because Ballack is not the only constant in that Bayer/German team |

raumdeuter: I never condemned Terry for not winning the CL, I condemned him for being a total passenger and a completely useless player when the tough games are here
the CL semi vs Barca he got a red card when the scores was against the team, the CL final in Moscow he was a total passenger, the CL final in Munich he was in the stand
Ballack took his own lowly Leverkusen to the CL final with monster displays vs Liverpool and Man Uytd before succumbing to one of the greatest teams of all time Madrid Galacticos
He took Germany to the world cup final before he sacrificed himself to ensure Germany got to the final
WHat has Terry done in big games on these level? Its been over 2yrs we are still searching while I have video evidence of Terrys uselesness in crucial CL games like vs Monaco 2004, vs Liverpool 2005, vs United Moscow 2008, vs Atletico 2013, vs Barca 2012, vs PSG 2015 Lowly Leverkusen? Bayern signed Lucio a world cup and champions league winner from where? Which club had Ze Roberto before you guys swooped for him? Lowly Leverkusen but you want us to believe it was just Ballack and 10 other farmers... |

Heywhizzy: You're indirectly saying the onus is on hazard and co to create and do more, I agree with you Sorry, I am a Manchester United fan, a supposed rival but I am not one to do that bashing thing especially not in a discourse like we're having here, Hazard was closely marked, whenever he had the ball Arsenal players didn't give him any bit of space yet he brought Chelsea back into the game at 1 vs 0 down. When I talked about supporting cast, I was referring to the likes of Bakayoko, Moses and the likes who were terrible on the night. Also, the setup from Conte was wrong, you don't go with 3 MF against Arsenal when you're still going to lose the midfield battle anyway, I expected him to sub Bakayoko and bring on Willian/Pedro or start with them from the beginning. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by patrickmuf(m): 8:54am On Jan 05, 2018 |
Heywhizzy: y'all shouting Morata missed 3 clear cut chance should know that it's a known fact that players like cavani, Suarez and benzema are capable of doing worse even Messi in the match prior to December classico did worse and even added a penalty miss
Cavani is the worst player when it comes to squandering chances yet he is a 30+ goal striker.. The season when Suarez scored 40goals and the season after, Suarez could miss 7 clear cut chances then end up scoring two cos he and Messi could not stop linking up to perfection.. Writing off players like Morata would always back fire because the next match he may end up converting those chances so don't hide your face when lordfalcao and the likes start trolling when he's back scoring.. As long as he keeps winning those chances, his goal tally would increase
The ability to be open for chances is a blessing in itself.. Salah has 17goals yet he's the most wasteful Again, this analogy is wrong...Cavani,Salah, Suarez and the likes do miss just as much but they play in a setup that guarantees many clear cut chances per game, Cavani/Suarez can easily miss 2-3 chances and still end the game with a brace or hattrick, at Chelsea, the chances don't come that much because the supporting cast isn't as good as compared to the likes of PSG, Barcelona, Liverpool etc thus a center forward at Chelsea should be more clinical. That Morata had 3 clear cut chances in that game is unprecedented cos in games like that, most strikers only get a sniff at goal once or twice and it's expected of a top marksman to bury them. |
