fellaini is too far away from the midfield action. he's almost playing in the hole but a bit closer to young.

the tactics is simple but yet effective - we are only overloading on the fullbacks while having 3 gifted technicians in the central midfield who can pass & move the ball quickly.

that long kick from de gea had 2 of our players on zabaleta. he got outnumbered & he conceded the cross that got the first goal. check the spurs & liverpool game - it was the same ish.

this isn't about pawaful midfield - without carrick, herrera & mata(license to roam) knitting the passes from deep to evade pawaful midfielders, fellaini's physicality would be hopeless.

You definitely know your football... What we're doing is simply overloading on the fullbacks akin to what Bayern does with Robben, Muller and lahm on the right or Ribery, Alaba and Schweini...
In Barca we see it with Neymar, Alba and Iniesta on the left and Messi, Alves and Rakitic on the right...
Even Chelsea do employ same strategy on their left side with Azpillicueta, Hazard and Fabregas/Oscar...

if the manager thinks he's curb that aspect of his game, then he can replace Young or Mata or Fellaini in the team - left to LvG discretion.
