Icartaway: The Bimodal Voters Accreditation System will be used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct its mock accreditation with eligible voters on Saturday, February 4, 2023. (BVAS). Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the commission’s chairman, revealed this information on Friday in Abuja during a meeting with the resident electoral commissioners.
He said 456 voting places would be used nationwide for the election. The head of INEC stated that following the completion of the mock accreditation, the BVAS machines would be set up and prepared for usage during the general elections.
Yakubu explained that the mock accreditation exercise is aimed at testing the readiness of the BVAS machines before the forthcoming elections.
The INEC chairman also disclosed that while the distribution of non-sensitive materials has been concluded, the distribution of sensitive materials for the elections to the various states is at its advanced stage.
Yakubu, who said the commission might the commission may consider other options for the collection of PVCs, expressed satisfaction with the desire of Nigerians to collect their voters’ cards.
He said out of the 940,200 PVCs sent to Lagos state, about 839,720 have so far been collected as of Thursday.
Recall that the INEC during his appearance at Chatham House last week disclosed there would be a mock accreditation with the BVAS machines before the election proper.
Vivianat: governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, Abdul-Azeez Adediran popularly known as Jandor, has said that thugs chased his deputy, Funke Akindele out of Ketu fruit market, while one of his supporters was also stabbed on Tuesday. Jandor stated that Funke had to hurriedly leave the campaign after she was chased by hoodlums in market. But Adediran’s campaign train moved round some streets in the council.
Reacting to the incident during a meeting with council of Chief Imam at the Ketu Central Mosque in Kosofe Local Government area, Jandor condemned the incessant attacks on his campaign train by political thugs.
He confirmed that his campaign train had come under attack in the council and armed thugs had stabbed one member of his security team.
Adediran stated that his convoy has been under various attacks after he kicked off his tour to 245 wards on Oct. 19, 2022, adding that some of his followers including journalists have been injured.
According to him, his resolve to relieve residents of the state of their numerous pains and to bring in breath of fresh air is unstoppable.
He said the chasing out of his running mate from of Kosofe Fruit market was not healthy for democracy in the country

OddsDoc: The Director of Strategic Communications, PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Chief Dele Momudu said the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not get enough states in North, South-West to win the presidential election.
Momodu made this assertion in a statement in Abuja, on Monday.
He said, “Tinubu may pick a few states in the North and South West but won’t have enough to win.
“A Presidential candidate cannot depend totally on votes from outside his home base to win this election,” he added
He added that elitist polls have failed due to over-reliance on technology in what he described as an illiterate population.
The PDP chieftain described many polls relegating the PDP Atiku-Okowa Presidential ticket to second place as a failure.
He expressed the campaign’s confidence that its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa were making steady progress towards occupying Aso Rock come May 29, 2023.
He said, “I have read with bemusement many of the polls about the forthcoming Presidential election on February 25, 2023, and have come to the conclusion that the elitist polls have failed monumentally due to the over-reliance on technology in a largely illiterate population.
“I have decided to help situate the forecasts based on the established political history of Nigeria and empirical data.
“It is a fact of history that whenever the South produced two strong candidates, the dominant Nothern candidate won, such as in 1979 and 1983, Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikiwe versus Shehu Shagari.
“Bola Tinubu is far weaker today in the South West and Awolowo was by far more formidable, while Obi is the new Azikiwe (the first Governor-General and President of Nigeria) in the South East, and Kwankwaso is the current Aminu Kano.“
Shedding light on how all these will work in favour of the PDP Presidential ticket, he said “Atiku Abubakar will dominate the North East, North West, North Central and South-South.
“The bridges required to cross to victory have taken Atiku 30 years to build. Tinubu has not been able to lock down the entire South West not to talk of the whole of Nigeria.
“ Over-reliance on bribing the electorates will fail. Hoping to rig brazenly will also fail spectacularly.
“ I repeat, the entire North and the South South will make Atiku the next President. Atiku will still be competitive in the South East and South West.
“Wherever Obi is number one in the East, Atiku will be number two. Wherever Tinubu is number one in the South West, Atiku will be number two or vice versa.
“Atiku will be the first to cross the line of recording 25 percent in 24 states. He will get 25 percent automatically in the 19 states of Northern Regions and will pick six in South-South automatically.
“He will pick more than 25 percent in all of the five states in the South East, a traditional base of PDP, and the same in the South West. Wherever Obi is number one, Atiku will be number two or vice versa.
“I do not know of any state PDP will not record 25 percent and eventually win the overall popular votes.
