Legally speaking, I fail to see how she would escape a death sentence. According to the report, she grabbed a knife after she noticed he was asleep, and proceeded to stab him.
That shows she killed him with intent and premeditation.

A potential setback...
[b]Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, may not open soon as expected despite resolving safety concerns that led to its shut down by the Federal Government.

This is so because a fresh crisis over ownership of adjoining land at the airport is threatening its reopening.

There is a land contest between a private estate developer, Arch. J.J Emejulu and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), which, according to the airport authorities, may jeopardise moves to reactivate the airport.

The land dispute is based on series of unconnected court cases in which Arch. J.J Emejulu is seeking to exercise ownership right over spaces of land in the vicinity of the airport.

A source at the airport also stated that conflict between the Nigeria Police and the Nigerian Air Force attached to FAAN over land ownership is also there.

The source stated that the airport might be permanently closed down if there is encroachment into the reserved space.

According to an FAAN official at Enugu, the contested land is located at the takeoff end of the airport, and would breach safety headroom for planned extension of the runway.

In response to enquiries on the encroachment, the Chairman of House Committee on Aviation, Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, declared that nobody would stand in the way to reopening the airport as scheduled, warning those fighting for land to stop sabotaging the interest of the Southeast zone.

A construction firm, PW Limited, has been deployed to reconfigure and reconstruct the runway to accommodate wide body aircraft including the Boeing 787 and dreamliner series.

National Aviation Management Agency (NAMA) has also announced commencement of work on airfield lighting and safety systems as well as on modernization of the terminal building and new reopening deadline was fixed for April 2020.

I admire you optimism even against the odds, but this increased activity you envision for AIIA when it reopens is still up in the air (pardon the pun lipsrsealed)!

These works they're doing, will it see to the eventual completion of the abandoned terminal; will it install night-landing facilities (like Kano, Lagos and Abuja have) so planes can land at night? I imagine these are some of the major issues keeping the airlines you mentioned away from AIIA till date. But above all, if the aviation authorities -and by extension, the fed' gov't- isn't interested in getting more int'l airlines to serve AIIA, then it ain't gonna happen no matter the amount and quality of upgraded facilities available!
The minister promised to install airfield lighting. So, when the airport is reopened it will be able to accommodate night flights
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by PDPGuy: 11:31pm On Nov 30, 2019
Assuming the Akanu Ibiam airport is opened in April 2020, it would be a dream to see the likes of Emirates and KLM flying to Enugu. The reason I suspect, why they declined the Aviation ministry's invitation to add Enugu to their route network is due to the frankly below average facilities at the airport. Those airlines have certain standards which can't be compromised.

Moreover, it should be economically viable for Air Peace to serve Dubai, Shanghai, Johannesburg, Kuala Lumpur, Atlanta, and London; from Enugu. The aircraft of choice could be the A350-900 and/or B787-9. The Atlanta and London services may be three weekly flights during the European summer and Christmas periods; with reduced services during off peak periods.

TravelU.S. FAA Fines Lufthansa $6.4 Million For “illegal” Flights by PDPGuy(op): 5:57pm On Nov 30, 2019
Lufthansa is facing a $6.428 million civil penalty from the US Federal Aviation Administration for conducting almost 900 flights that were “not in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations.”

The FAA alleges that Lufthansa operated flights into and out of San Diego International Airport and Philadelphia International Airport without the FAA authorization required to do so.

Foreign airlines can only conduct scheduled flights into and out of airports that are listed in their FAA-issued Operations Specifications, and the FAA alleges that neither airport was in Lufthansa’s Operations Specifications.

This relates to the following flights:

Between March 22, 2018, and May 27, 2019, Lufthansa operated approximately 600 flights with A340-300s between Frankfurt and San Diego.

Between October 28, 2018, and April 10, 2019, Lufthansa operated approximately 292 flights with A330-300 and 747-400 aircraft between Frankfurt and Philadelphia
Lufthansa has 30 days to respond to the FAA.

Ex-USA U-20 star, Mimi eyes Super Falcons call-up
. . 16 hours ago
Super Falcons of Nigeria
A former player of the United State of America U-20 women’s team, Mimi Asom has expressed her desire to play for seven time African champions, the Super Falcons of Nigeria.
The youngster who is presently taking the Norwegian league by storm in the colours of Arna-Bjornar has scored seven goals since joining the club mid-season in July 2019.
Although she just joined the club, Mimi has averaged the highest number of goals per minute played and she is the second top scorer in her team.

Born in the USA to Nigerian parents, Mimi played for the USA U-20 national team when she was 18 years old.
She, however, remains eligible to play for the Super Falcons without requiring clearance from FIFA.
Interestingly, she has not hidden her intention to continue to deliver on the pitch in order to achieve her dream.
Mimi moved to Norway from the USA after graduating from Princeton University in June 2019 where she played and was captain of the team.
She was voted the Ivy League (USA Collegiate football) offensive player of the year (2018). She led the Ivy League with 12 goals and one assist, scoring in nine consecutive matches; including a hat-trick against Yale University on September 22, 2018, and she was voted player of the week three times in the course of that league season.
Mimi was also named to the All-American team by United Soccer Coaches in 2018/2019. She also won the Golden Ball award at youth level.
She should be in frame for the 2020 AWCON

You need not find fault in everything the FG does, A closer check would have told you
1. Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) is a major hub boast an annual Passenger traffic of 3.6 million compared to Enugu with a capacity of 350,000 annually. No need emphasizing which requires the Urgency.
2. The major Runway fix for NAIA took 5 weeks and 6 days, this was the most urgent requirement . the other repairs continued for up to 6 months.
The Airport runway is 3.6 km, not 4km like you erroneously wrote. and the 4 billion you stated was actually 5.6 billion and was later increased to 6.5 Billion to accommodate repairs of portions of the Taxiway
3. Akanu Ibiam Airport is being Upgraded to a full international status, the budget isn't for the Runway alone, The budget is for sustaining the infrastructural renewal at the airports as well as upgrade and provision of necessary air navigation equipment
4. the Initial completion timeline was December 2019 but was shifted to April 2020 not the 8 months you stated.

If you praise PMB once, nothing will happen to you.
Airfield lighting will he added to the runway and taxiway to enable night flights. So, after the project is complete, planes will be able to take off/land after 6pm

I was responding to this particular line of your comment.. "The US is openly hostile to black people and uses every situation possible to maintain or gain control over others. That is their stock and trade"

Again, if the US is so against Black people to the extent of accusing the CEO of the largest airline in West Africa of money laundering and bank fraud, then why hasn't the same U.S. come after Ethiopian Airlines CEO? After all, his airline flies to a couple of U.S. destinations, and is the most profitable in Africa.
BusinessRe: Why Onyema Was Flagged By The US - Advice From A US Based Business Man. by PDPGuy: 8:00pm On Nov 25, 2019
OruExpress:
I would also like to add, though this is late, that Onyema has no business buying airplanes from the United States. The US is openly hostile to black people and uses every situation possible to maintain or gain control over others. That is their stock and trade.

Any US bought plane will likely be rigged with devices, trackers, and controllers. The idea of an African having planes is very worrying for them for two reasons.

European and US airlines make billions every year from the Nigerian market and do not want to let that pipeline of money go. Nigerians pay 3x the price for tickets are other countries and other Africans follow somewhere around there. Look up flights to Japan from the UK and flights from Nigeria from the UK and you'll see the difference. Despite the distance, Nigerians are cash cows in the aviation because they will pay any price without questioning it and have few options. This is not something the multinationals are willing to let go and they are very willing to kill to protect billion dollar revenues.

Boeing makes nearly all of it's money from the US military and is considered, in the US, more or less a wing of the US military and a foundation of the Military Industrial Complex. It operates like a part of the military. It's is extremely naive to continue buying planes from them as a black man who recently flew to South Africa to save other black people without their permission. Please be aware and spread this message.

This is not to say the US will automatically do the most evil possible thing, or is automatically going to be hostile, but again, meter your trust for them to an adult, realistic level. Know the dynamics of the country you're willing to spend 1 billion dollars on.
But what about Ethiopian Airlines that also buys Boeing planes and flies to FIVE U.S. cities? Why haven't the Americans frustrated them out of business or indicted their CEO for money laundering?

Nigeria will gladly extradite its citizens to face USA charges. Yet to find one person Nigeria refused to extradite.. Recently its been pretty much Russia refusing to extradite its citizens..

Nigeria loves/needs USA, they will do whatever America says.
That's the other shit Onyema is facing. There is a 99.9% probability that Buhari will gladly extradite him to the US.
His only option now, aside from entering a plea deal/fighting the charges in trial, is to move to a country that has no extradition treaty with the United States. Simple.

jjman2322:
Umm many of you dont know what a USA criminal indictment means.. It means the attorneys presented the evidence and got a grand jury to indict.. Which leaves you only two options:

1 . Plead guilty for lesser jail time (based on # of charges facing he will get jail time)

2. Go to trial and most likely lose. before they indict you they have all the evidence they need. hence why the DOJ has a near perfect conviction rate.. This is USA DOJ not EFCC

"indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, three counts of bank fraud, one count of conspiracy to commit credit application fraud, and three counts of credit application fraud."

Show me one person who has been indicted by DOJ for similar charges that didn't go to prison.
The only people/entities that beat a DOJ indictment, from my memory, are the late Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) and Enron. In both cases the federal appeals court and the US Supreme Court quashed their convictions from the lower Federal District courts

jjman2322:
Honestly from what i think and read(read the whole indictment), AIR PEACE as company is not being indicted.. Any issues air peace may have will be from EFCC, etc who will want to know where funds came from..

But USA GOVT doesnt care about his airline. All the DOJ attorneys did was see a man named Onyeama who committed a crime in their country, and they indicted him for those crimes.. simple... only problem is USA DOJ is arguably the best prosecution arm in the WORLD.

Ive seen them get convictions of people who LIVE ABROAD and commit crimes ABROAD, and yet somehow they come to USA to face prison time. USA I hail..
Succinctly said. But Air Peace could be in legal jeopardy if the EFCC proves that criminal proceeds form part of its cash reserves

Absolutely shocking!
PoliticsAir Peace CEO, Allen Onyema, Indicted By US Department Of Justice For Fraud by PDPGuy(op): 12:41am On Nov 23, 2019
Allen Ifechukwu Athan Onyema, the Chairman, CEO, and founder of Air Peace, a Nigerian airline, has been charged with bank fraud and money laundering for moving more than $20 million from Nigeria through United States bank accounts in a scheme involving false documents based on the purchase of airplanes, the United States Department of Justice announced Friday.

Air Peace is Nigeria’s largest and fastest growing airline.

The statement by the Northern District of Georgia DOJ said Air Peace’s Chief of Administration and Finance, Ejiroghene Eghagha, has also been charged with bank fraud and committing aggravated identity theft in connection with the scheme.

“Onyema allegedly leveraged his status as a prominent business leader and airline executive while using falsified documents to commit fraud,” said U.S. Attorney Byung J. “BJay” Pak. “We will diligently protect the integrity our banking system from being corrupted by criminals, even when they disguise themselves in a cloak of international business.”

Robert J. Murphy, the Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Atlanta Field Division commented on the indictment, “Allen Onyema’s status as a wealthy businessman turned out to be a fraud. He corrupted the U.S. banking system, but his trail of deceit and trickery came to a skidding halt. DEA would like to thank the many law enforcement partners and the subsequent prosecution by the U.S. Attorney’s Office who aided in making this investigation a success.”

“This case is a prime example of why IRS-CI seeks to partner and leverage its expertise in an effort to thwart those seeking to exploit our nation’s financial system,” said Thomas J. Holloman, IRS-Criminal Investigation Special Agent in Charge of the Atlanta Field Office. “With the importance of our banking system to the movement of money around the world, those attempting to use intricate schemes to commit bank fraud through the use of falsified documents and other means should know that the odds are now heavily stacked against them as law enforcement is combining its talents to protect the sanctity and integrity of the nation’s financial system.”

“Onyema setup various innocent sounding multi-million dollar asset purchases which were nothing more than alleged fronts for his scam,” said acting Special Agent in Charge Robert Hammer, who oversees HSI operations in Georgia and Alabama. “I’m proud to be part of a team of law enforcement agencies that come together to identify and attack criminals that attempt to profit from the exploitation of our nation’s financial systems.”

According to U.S. Attorney Pak, the indictment, and other information presented in court: Onyema, a Nigerian citizen and businessman, is the founder and Chairman of several organizations that purport to promote peace across Nigeria, including the Foundation for Ethnic Harmony, International Center for Non-Violence and Peace Development, and All-Time Peace Media Communications Limited.
