Fun facts:

Both Nigeria and Senegal have the most number of players who are 6ft or taller - eight players, each on both teams.

Standing at an impressive 6’6”, Maimouna Diarra of Senegal is the tallest player at this tournament.

Nigeria are the only team that has won all 12 quarters in this tournament shocked

D’Tigress are now on a 12-0 run in Afrobasket matches, stretching back to their win over Angola in the 2015 bronze medal match.

somehow:
We are recording enough points and conceding less but we are struggling behind the arc.

Can the coach work on our 3 pointers? To take on the world, you must know how to hit from the arc in case you meet a better defensive side.
I’ve noticed the same thing. The team surely needs to improve on its 3-point shooting, free throw conversions, and the shots outside the paint.

The Malians and Senegalese would watch our previous games and decide to defend the paint vigorously, which would frustrate D’Tigress. I expected Macaulay to be one of the best 3-point shooters, but she hasn’t really delivered.

Maybe the coach and the NBBF need to scout more Nigerian-Americans who play regularly in NCAA tournaments and/or the WNBA, who can shoot more accurately beyond the arc and are 6’3” or taller.

I’m addition to qualifying for the semifinals, D’Tigress have also advanced to the Olympic pre-qualifying tournament.

The Olympic prequalifying tournament will feature the top 6 Afrobasket teams.

Then, the top 2 teams in the prequalifying tournament advance to the Olympic qualifying tournament, which will feature 4 groups of 3 teams. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the Olympics.

Why didn’t VAR order for that pk to be retaken? Adrian has no foot on the line before the kick was taken

After two games, D’Tigress conceded only 65 points, and have conceded the fewest points in the group stage.
If this was 2017 or 2015, they would have conceded 90+ points in two games.

So, I will give coach Otis credit in that area

The large space between the defense and the midfield must be reduced today.
Whenever Liverpool have possession in midfield, Jorginho and Kante must drop deep to help out the defense. Likewise, when the team is on the attack, the defense line has to move forward with our midfield. Otherwise, the Liverpool forwards and Milner would have so much joy on the pitch.

somehow:
Until they prove themselves in the world proper and also against Senegal (won 11 titles against Nigeria's 3), I won't really say they have arrived.
They beat Senegal in the 2017 final by 17 points; and reached the quarterfinals of last year’s World Cup, losing to the US at that stage. I’d also say they are looking good for a 4th African title.
D’Tigress are right there amongst the world’s best teams.
