shoodboi2: It's the usual suspects. The American CIA agent with his Ukrainian drone instructors. By the time the people they're training attack India, the CIA will tell India that it's Pakistan.
The same CIA is likely training terrorists elsewhere to attack Pakistan and when that happens, they'll tell the Pakistanis that the terrorists are from India. 100 💯 on target 🎯 |

Redman44: Good news about Sarah Ogoke. I really admire her and she has been wonderful in Nigeria colours. She has done great for Nigeria. It's time for a much younger player to step into her position in DTigress squad. Also Blessing Ejiofor does not look good enough to be in the squad. We need the best of the best in the squad for the World Cup. Blessing Ejiofor is easily replaced by Uche Izoje, who is having a breakout season in her NCAA conference |

Who do you guys think will be dropped from the roster for the September World Cup? |
Sports › Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by PDPGuy(op): 11:55pm On Mar 16 |
lovewins: Just in:
Five-time AfroBasket champion Sarah Ogoke has announced her retirement from the Nigerian women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress.
The veteran guard, who debuted in 2011, was a key member of Nigeria’s golden generation and played a major role in the team’s dominance in African women’s basketball.
Source: Kenny Bamidele Wow! I wish her all the best in her future endeavors. I will always be thankful for her clutch 3-pointers in several crucial games, including the last win vs The Philippines, and at the Afrobasket. Now, the likes of Oluchi Okananwa and Grace Efosa would step into void. |

Federal Government officials have handed over long-promised three-bedroom flats in Abuja and Order of the Niger certificates to D'Tigress players and staff, fulfilling President Tinubu's pledges from last August's AfroBasket win.
Each player got $100,000 and coaches $50,000, presented right after their 93-86 loss to France in FIBA Women's World Cup qualifiers. |

I still feel we need another center to complement Vicki Macaulay on the defensive end. Our guard rotation is excellent. Our forwards are powerful, Musa and Pallas are improving with each game. Okoro is also growing in leaps and bounds, alongside Amy. If they keep working hard, we can get a medal in Germany, come September |

BascoVanVeli: From what I hear she has only been playing for 6 years. So she also can grow her game alot Might be super early, but I’d say she could be on the radar for next year’s Afrobasket if she gets consistent minutes at Michigan |
Sports › Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by PDPGuy(op): 7:26pm On Mar 15 |
BascoVanVeli: Fope Ayo. Oluchi posted her on Instagram. Gatorade player of the year in the state of Massachusetts. Number 44 player in the country. She will be attending Michigan University. Scary that she’s only a teenager, yet, she is already 6’5” 🤯 Who knows whether she may be another 6’8” phenomenal center. |

lovewins: Ehis is a member of the Luxembourg national team. She's participated in several FIBA tournaments. It's why I didn't include her in the list of eligibie players.
Nunu struggled this year and quite frankly wasn't great. If she's able to get her degree earlier like Kiki did, I'll prefer she leaves Stanford and go try out in another college under a better coach. The Stanford program has been mediocre the last few years. Got it. It’s quite sad how Stanford’s program fell off so fast! Anyways, I think these players, barring injury and/or a catastrophic loss of form, will be guaranteed a place in the 2026 World Cup roster: Amukamara, Ezinne Kalu, Pallas, Victoria Macaulay, Amy Okonkwo, Murjanatu Musa, and Ifunanya Okoro. Everyone else’s position is definitely open to be taken by newcomers. Blessing Ejiofor hasn’t had any minutes, yet, in this WWCQT, which really casts a shadow on whether she would even be in Wakama’s WC plans. |
Sports › Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by PDPGuy(op): 4:40am On Mar 15 |
BascoVanVeli: Don't worry. Oluchi Akananwa, Uche Izoje and Christeen Iwuala are coming after the NCAAs. Wakama can also invite the likes of Nunu Agara and Ehis Etute to the squad. Ehis has recorded a double-double in each of her last 4 games! |

D’Tigress and Canada have both set a joint rebounding record at a FIBA WWCQT.
Both teams each notched 58 rebounds in their respective last games |
Sports › Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by PDPGuy(op): 4:31pm On Mar 14*. Modified: 4:36am On Mar 15 |
BTW, the win over the Philippines is also D’Tigress’s 10th win (against 9 different opponents) over a non-African team at a major tournament..
That means they have now surpassed the Super Eagles prior record of 8 wins against non-African opponents at major tournaments
Rena Wakama has also now equaled former coach Otis Hughley’s record of 4 wins against non-African opposition at major tournaments
Nice work Queens 😊🤩 |

TheSuperNerd: Oh I see it now. So we are actually qualified but need a good campaign and finish here to sit in a good pot and avoid many of the big guns early in the WC Proper. Sounds good.
We gotta show up big against the French. Yup |
Sports › Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by PDPGuy(op): 4:20pm On Mar 14 |
TheSuperNerd: France scares me mehn. Especially Malonga Dominique and Marine. But we march on. I think top 4 in each of the 4 qualifying groups make it to the World Cup yeah? Yeah But since D’Tigress already qualified by virtue of being Afrobasket champions, the game is more of an “advanced” friendly match. The only importance to it is that a win (or narrow loss) could help D’Tigress maintain their top 8 ranking and keep them in Pot 2 for the World Cup draw. Being in Pot 2 means that D’Tigress would likely only face one of the top 5 teams, thereby improving their chances of advancing to the knockout round. |

Danielnino00: Coach Rena and the NBBF still need to do a lot of work in recruiting more players into the team...
Elizabeth Williams and Michaela Onyewere will be great additions... Rena can use her connection with the Sky to lure them She can use her connections, but it’s an entirely different thing for those ladies to actually commit to D’Tigress. Following the example of Iriafen, they may just opt for the higher profile Team USA especially if they want that Olympic gold. Now, having said all that, realistically, it’s unlikely that Iriafen would make the roster to the September World Cup, let alone the 2028 Olympics, given her current position in the pecking order. Therefore, Coach Wakama may use that as a talking point in trying to lure those ladies into D’Tigress |
