Get the message bro... Ekiti State has one of the best road networks in Nigeria... From Omuo LGA to Aramoko LGA or from Moba LGA to Ikere LGA all have good road networks... Infacts, some traveller often prefer Ekiti route to Akure route while travelling to Lagos...

The pictured road in question is the link between Kogi State and Ekiti State...

Just yesterday, i was travelling to Ado-Ekiti from the North in order to witness the inauguration of my newly-elected Ekiti Governor, it was quite an adventurous trip for me tho.. To mention afew: the Toyota Corolla that broke down on the road after driving for 20 minutes, the unreliable Honda ball-joint that pulled off the track at a speed bump, the impressive sights of the ongoing construction of Dangote's Obajana/Kabba road giving travellers an alternative bypass to the Okene/Kabba route, the Ekiti kid (at the road-side) that sold 12 pieces of banana for 100naira (equivalent to that of 400naira in Abuja) and the likes...

Incidentally, a truck heading towards the Northern Nigeria from the South-West got derailed along the deterioriating Kabba/Omuo-Ekiti Federal Road (specifically at Ikoyi-Ijumu town in Kogi State).

As theorized by me, the ugly incidence occured due to the state of the poorly maintained road while the driver was trying to dogde the big pot-holes in a quest to get a head-on to the North...

Averagely, the ETA - Expected Time of Arrival of travellers between Omuo-Ekiti to Kabba, Kogi State should not be more than 25 minutes @ 120kmph, but the ETA is now roughly more than 1hour, you can hardly "Pedal to the Metal"!!!

The first question that flashed my mind when i had a sight of the incidence was that: "what if an innocent vehicle was passing by the trailer?" but we thank God that nothing of such happened.

It should be noted that most of the auto-crash incidence that occured in the past are often traceable to bad roads... However, i will not deny the fact that the Federal Government has been trying all viable means to fix the transport infrastructure of the Nation, but, i will like her to shift more interventional attention in fixing some deterioriating Federal Roads, such as this of Omuo-Ekiti/Kabba road which is one of the major link between the southern and northern Nigeria.

Lastly, i need to note that this particular road has been in a deterioriating state for several years without any effort to get it fixed, I hereby use this medium to reach out to FERMA (Federal Road Maintenance Agency) to yield to this wake up call.

The obsession with anything that looks like luxury to the poor can be misleading at times. I support the use of private jets by people like Oyedepo who have tight schedule of commitments.
What OP is saying is more appropriate for public secular system leaders who are technically employed by the poor to serve them. Pastors are called by God and God admonishes us to know them by their fruits.
If Caesar misuses what has been given unto him like tax, excess jamb form levy, abacha loot recovered and foreign aids then that doesn't mean the church should have no meat for the sake of ceasar.

What people like OP don't realize is that the private jet cost of a pastor won't feed his poor followers for a week. So what happen after that? Will foreign mission close down because the poor must be worshiped until they become rich? Never.

Let us face the reality... i am not against the men of God using exotic cars or private jet... who am i to touch the anointed one of God...? I am only being factual and practical... but wait.. why is it that church members cannot afford to send their kids to a school built by their church? these and many other things have been bothering me about the modern faith... let me just drop my pen here for now... tnx

My name is J.O.S. i.e. Jawolusi Oluwaseun Solomon, I am a Christian, I believe in Jesus Christ, I am not perfect, but well-seasoned with certain Biblical standards, though of a recent, my hope on “modern Nigerian Churches” is getting infinitesimal day by day. Most of all, I am an African, engrossed with the school of thought that Nigeria is a mere product of European imperialism.

I have stopped writing about religion since my last one, titled: “The Weightier and lighter matters –By PediakAuthor”, but I need to do this needful.

In reaction to Theresa May’s recent statement that Nigerians are extremely poor: I need to voice out certain things. We need to put it at the back of our mind that this report came out of the Prime Minister of Nigeria’s former Colonialist: the breed of fundamentalists who introduced Christianity to us in Nigeria.

Another weird fact is that several Nigerian Christians are well-positioned among the top ten richest Pastors in the world even more than the British Pastors.

What a paradoxical situation, let us quickly revisit the position of certain biblical standards.
The question here is that, “What Would Jesus Do” if he were Nigerian? And besides, what does it mean to be a Christian? Simply being Christ-like in every situation.

Jesus Christ during his own time had the power to turn the mouth of a fish to an ATM machine without exploiting his followers, he did not even possess a personal horse despite his abilities, he had to tell his followers to go hire a horse for him, just to ride into Jerusalem, in the fulfillment of the prophesies in the old testament.

This same Jesus Christ miraculously fed thousands of hungry ones with mere five loaves of breads and two fishes. This clearly shows that Jesus Christ himself was actively involved in humanitarian services.

To cut the long story short, I will not deny the fact that Jesus Christ himself admitted that there will always be the poor in our midst, however, it is time for us to start telling our Christian figure-heads that a single private jet can feed thousands of hungry kids in Nigeria, let us also tell them that the monetary equivalent of all those exotic cars can pay the school fees of the less privileged Nigerian kids and so on.

16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”. 17, 18, 19, 20,
21. Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

I have a recommendation on how to systemically reduce the poverty rate in Nigeria: I strongly believe that revolution is looming in Nigeria; I am waiting for that moment that a fearless follower will publicly rise up and point a finger to a leader, saying: “sell 9 out of your 10 cars to feed your hungry followers for us to believe that you are a “GOOD” leader. Jesus gave such a recommendation, so, don’t call that a rebellion, don’t call that treason, that is the truth, the life and the only way to heaven, in case you don’t know!!!

It should be noted that the “CHURCH” is the “PEOPLE”, and not the big buildings, though I clearly understand that King Solomon built one of the best temples for God, so I am not against modernizing our Cathedrals, but the people must be the focus if we really want to follow the Acts of the Apostles.


Biblically, I also clearly understand that the Gospel shall be preached all over the world before the trumpet sounds; sequel to this fact, the gospel in Nigeria was fostered by Colonization. That is just my simple theory.

Now, I am so happy that Nigerians are more 'religious' than the British Colonialists who originally introduced Christianity to us, but we must ensure that we do not derail from the Biblical standards. We must ensure the adherence to the Acts of the Apostles, read how they loved themselves and no poor one was noticed amongst them. We need to call a spade a spade and not a farm tool.

Lagos is undeniably one of the fastest developing cities in Nigeria. Earlier this week, during an inquisitive research of mine, i had a gaze at the Eko Atlantic City from the Oniru Beach, it was such an awesome project to have reclaimed such a wide land mass for a purposed smart city.

What about the different ongoing road constructions and road expansion projects in Lagos State just within the 3 years of the present State Government's Administration? No wonder no one is complaining about Ambode. I need to note one of the major reasons for the massive infrastructural development in Lagos State: it can be traceable to the sequential actualization of a well-laid down economic and infrastructural development blueprint of the State, with respect to a refined political stability and the continuity of a developmental ideology. These factors have helped Lagos State to conquer the wailing issues of abandoned projects within the State.

Other Nigerian States battling with sustainable development need to learn a big lesson from Lagos State: a stable political atmosphere will naturally foster the actualization of a long-term socio-economic development blueprint, it will also create a favourable platform for businesses and investments to thrive through the times, leading to job creations and other dividends. "The examples of the Asian Tigers have clearly shown us an alternative path to development: A central government guiding the economy forward through distinct stages of development until a fully-developed economy is actualized".

Also, Nigerians need to understand that the recurring political instability in the country is not healthy for a sustainable socio-economic development Agenda in Nigeria, hence, a need to strategically infinitesimalize every iota of nepotism in Nigeria's leadership structure while also impeding every iota of myopicity in our various developmental agenda. State-builders must see this task as their timely contributions to national development.

In conclusion, I need to commend the brains behind the Eko Atlantic City, such developmental projects should be replicated in other States in Nigeria, most especially, massive industrialization, while such projects must be mandated for completion within the speculated period irrespective of the 4-4 years change in Governments, hence, a need to establish and/or revitalize the Capital Projects Execution & Monitoring Agency in each Nigerian States. A country with a misplaced priority (Part 2).

Revitalizing the rapid decline of the Educational standard in Nigeria.

During a recent inquisitive research of mine: I came across an epic Yorùbá magazine popularly known as "Gbédègbeyò", often found in most of the secondary schools' libraries of the old Ondo State as at the late 70s and 80s.

Amazingly, i saw a rectangularized public announcement at the page 15 of this particular edition of the publication, encouraging students to get paid by becoming a columnists in the magazine, (see the attached image) as interpreted below:

"Announcement! Announcement!! Announcement!!!

Earn 5 Naira for every writing you send to us, it could be eventually shortlisted for publication, but such content should not be less than 1000 words, except it is a Tale, Poem, Lesson Learnt, Eulogy or jokes".

In the Nigeria of today, the 5 Naira of that era has an approximate monetary value of about 3000 Naira to 5000 Naira which is just the present 1/5th of some Nigerian States' minimum wage.

I am also sure that this same 5 Naira can no longer buy anything again in Nigeria, not even a tom-tom or a kuli-kuli in anyaboki shop.

You can infer several other conclusions from the above facts.

How i wish the culture of reading among the Nigerian Youths could be sustained till this present era. The truth of the matter is just that: "na who book don epp for Naija?".
An average Nigerian graduate is no longer assured of job security in his or her field of study after passing through the pains of the harsh educational environments. How will such citizen be encouraged to engage in research-oriented education or to contribute to national development.

Also, the rapid decline in the Nigeria's educational standard is a great impedance to the actualization of an effective National integration Strategy in Nigeria. (A topic for another day).

Circumstantially, Nigeria experienced the oil-boom era but made a mistake of establishing an undiversified mono-centric economy. Decades after gaining independence, not boastful of any competitive export product with an un-industrialized economy. These are the foundational underlying facts that have led to the present unemployment rate and other wailing societal challenges in Nigeria.

Taking a further flip through the pages of this epic magazine, i saw a Yorùbá proverb that depicts the law of karma.

"Sisé sílè ni àbòwábá, ení su sónà á bá esinsin nígbà àbò"

Interpreted as "What goes around comes around” or further explained as “as you sow, so shall you reap” which is the basic law of Karma.

Can you now see the beauty of the Nigerian culture?
Do private schools still have some Nigerian languages in their curriculums?

Undoubtedly, culture, tradition and history are crucial heritages of the people, if you want to incapacitate these dwellers, make them forget these legacies.

Permit me to note that most of wailing societal challenges in various Nigerian communities can be traceable to the rapid decline in the Nigerian educational standards, cultural shift, moral decadence, ignorance of the citizenry rights and the lack of exposure to their history.

As we all know, education is the backbone of the development of any nation, one of the recurring challenges in Nigeria is that most of the figure-heads are educationally half-baked breads, leading to their infinitesimal respect for education. You cannot give what you do not have.

I need to also note that the National Orientation Agency (NOA) also has an obligation to reorient and educate Nigerians on their citizenry rights i.e. what the Government expects from them, and what their constitutionalized duties as citizens.

If i may ask, how soon shall we get out of this dungeon of under-development in Nigeria?
