Lexusgs430: You also receive 25% on a SIPP account......😜🤣 Yes, higher and additional rate tax payers could get up to 25% but majority of basic rate taxpayers will only get 20% on SIPP. |

Lexusgs430: Why not invest through a SIPP account....... I agree but I think it’s the lure of the extra 25% government funding that attracts people to LISA 😂. |

ukay2: I recommend Moneybox...everything was done within 72hrs when we requested parts of our contributions to be used to pay for our mortgage at exchange of contract. Moneybox LISA is probably fine if the plan is to use the funds for property purchase. If you intend to use it as a retirement fund, there are better products on the market. Moneybox S&S LISA has very limited funds available and their charges are equally too high compared to other providers. I’ll try Dodi instead. If you have a Cash LiSA which is not for the purchase of a house, it’s best to swap this to an S&S LISA. Inflation will erode any savings in a Cash LISA over time. |

bigtt76: How good is a civil service job in the UK? As in the benefits and others .....any idea? Justwise, Lexusgs430, Koonbey, Zahra Salary might not be that great compared to the private sector but they offer defined benefit pension scheme and a very healthy 27% employer contribution. There’s also job security and a generous annual leave allowance. |

Madam no dey carry better suitcase travel? There’s no way my toiletries will fit into Ryanair or Wizz Air cabin baggage let alone clothes. I’ll advise people to upgrade to the fare with checked baggage to avoid nasty surprises at the airport. |

yolkman20: Hello good people,
Trust weekend is going well. I just did my tax return and my accountant was able to get me 3600k tax refund from the last tax year. I worked just 4 month as self employed within this tax year and I'm very wowed.
My people in construction, na like this he dey be? I wasn't even expecting this much. Any tax refund is always a great news but for this to work IRL, you must have paid a lot of tax through PAYE in 21/22 tax year and then became self employed part way in 22/23 leading to a trading loss in 22/23 which entitles you to some carry back loss relief. I hope I’m correct 🤪 - HMRC are very stingy. The only time you will be entitled to a tax refund is if you’ve paid too much tax in the current/previous year. |

Now they said if you make more than 1k you will be taxed, ontop the tax wey they want use kill us for our main job. Issokay😤 This has always been the case - any self employment turnover over £1K is usually taxable. It’s not a new rule. People fail to declare such income and HMRC has been too busy chasing the big fishes. With the new data sharing technology, it will be easier to detect all forms of tax evasion. |

hustla: Thanks
Someone said its the special delivery by 1PM envelope
The postal order, does it have any special name or ill just walk to the post office and ask for both You need both the special delivery envelope and the postal order. Envelope is for the return of your passport and the postal order is admin fee for passport processing. The postal order should be addressed to the Nigerian High Commission London. You can buy both at the same time and this is what the envelope looks like.

Hello
For those of you that are up to date with the visa rules and requirements, what happens if someone on a skilled worker visa is made redundant? I understand they have to leave the country within 60 days. Has anyone been fortunate enough to find another sponsor within that time frame. Asking for a friend who was made redundant last week. Thanks for your contribution. |

They work the same way as balance transfer cards - a small percentage is charged as fees when approved. My bank offer 2..5% fees on the money transfer value with 0% interest up to 18months. If approved, the money goes straight into your nominated bank account. No additional charges for the 18 months as long as you make the monthly minimum payment. |

eniola1010: No p60 was given. It says NI a seperate money was deducted for that, it also says tax a seperate money was deducted for that, then pension a seperate money was deducted for that. You should ask them for a p60 if you are still with the employer. If they fail to provide one, phone HMRC for advice on what to do next. |

Adebayo82: Please anybody living in London around SW should put it me through. I went to see a friend of mine at the deptford last week, and I went there with my car from Birmingham. today now I received a letter on congestion charging ( penalty charge notice) £180 , this is strange to me because I was not pack on the road neither taking a bus lane. I strictly follow the Speed limit seen on the road within the 20Mile per hour. I reached the venue before I stopped the car. moreover, my friend is new in London, he lodge in Airbnb with his wife. Is it possible for me to challenge charge by writing them back. Pele! You’ve made a very expensive mistake! Pay the fine and next time consider using the train. You can get a return trip to London from Birmingham for less than £20 if you book in advance. |

eniola1010: Hello guys.
I had a job from nov 2022 till date. PS its my first and only job in uk.
Now from nov 2022 to april 2023 my salary is not up to 12k. But within these months, i paid tax of about 100+ in feb,100+ in march and 80+ in apr 2023.
On the hmrc site it says i paid 0 pounds which i assume is the correct thing.
But my employers took taxes from me according to my payslips.
I feel i should have the feb, march and apr taxes refunded by now or could i be wrong? What does you payslip say for the deductions? Is it PAYE or Employee NI contribution? Also did you get a P60 from your employer at the end of the tax year? |

amanze54: Baba Lexusgs430 you are also an experienced man in this UK. Please drop an input in this my request below
Please I need some guidance, advice and feedback...
I have two offers which I am divided on which to choose
I am through with my MSc in Data Science here and already on tier 2 courtesy of my wife who got a sponsored support work
The first offer is a prison officer with a starting salary of 28k.
The second offer is a Department of Education Financed training to be a physic teacher with a bursary of 28k for 10 month, I will be paid 19k while 9k will go to the Secondary school providing the training which is affiliated to a university. At the end I will be given QTS ( qualifications to teach) and a PGCE. Now at the end of the training, I am required to look for a teaching job.
Please I need a guidance on which to go, given the peculiarity of this country.
September is start date for both.
Do not mind any grammatical error. Note I can't do both given the way the training is structured Do you already have settled status in UK? I’m just thinking that there might be visa implications for accessing the DFE training in the future if you don’t already have ILR. I might be wrong so please double-check this. |

I doubt it was intended to be disparaging to her or any person of mixed heritage. If anything it was self-deprecating humor to say he wished he could claim American citizenship. Banter or not I find it offensive comparing her citizenship to Beyoncé’s claim to Nigerian ancestry. |

Make we dey claim dey go....... 😂 Don’t know what you mean by she’s claiming Nigerian. Her dad is Nigerian and her grand father is Nigerian, last time I checked Citizenship by Descent is still a legitimate form of citizenship. No difference between her and any other Nigerian child born outside Nigeria. Or do you think she’s less deserving of Nigerian citizenship because she’s light skinned and has straight hair? |

Daddy, what's the cheapest options to get to Heathrow Terminal 2/3 from London Kings Cross.
My search shows I will need to change train in Victoria. Piccadilly line goes straight to/from Heathrow Terminal 2, 3 and 5 to St Pancres/Kings Cross for £3.70. You can also use Heathrow Express to Paddington and then get the tube to Kings Cross. If you book Heathrow Express well in advance, a return journey will cost £11. |
