V.O why have you chosen you school and program? Me. I have chosen the program because it fits perfectly with my career aims. I have eleven years working experience in the field. I have chose the school because they have wealth of experienced Prof., most especially in my engineering field i will major and the they work closely with the researchers in the industries. The PHD programs in the school are recognized as high research activities. ALL programs in the school are of global standard and they are all accredited. The school is well known and ranked one of the top schools in US. V.O wHAT is your present job? ME. I work as the head of powder coating/Powder coating manager department in my company. VO ........Something coating? ME Yes head powder coating. V.O OK let go to fund. Can you explain the 'tuition differential' in your I-20? mE. It is part of the money available to me as i have secured GA position. That is where the issue start from. Tuition differential is appearing under funds available for me. Total funds i need is $41,357 and deficit of $423 and funds available is $44,937. My personal funds is $4000.
In my I-20, UNDER FUNDS AVAILABLE I HAVE PERSONAL FUNDS $4,000,TUITION DIFFERENTIAL $12,879 AND ON CAMPUS EMPLOYEMENT IS $28,453.THEY ARE ROUND FIGGURE,NOTE THIS IS INFORMATION IS FOR THE READER, NOT TO THE V.O.

I passed my old passport with the letter i received in regards to the tuition differential from my school D.S.O. After few minutes on the screen, she asked again my age. Me. V.O Sorry you are not eligible for this.......... Me. I asked if there is any particular thing she wants me to re address if applying again. SHE SAID SHE CANT TELL ME.
PLEASE GURU IN THE HOUSE HELP A FELLOW BROTHER. I HAVE REPPLY WITH DUMMY FORM ,YET TO SUBMIT FORM. 08063493360. SCH START AUGUST 27,AVAILABLE IS DEC. 15. I WROTE THE SCH D.SO ABOUT THE PROBLEM ON MY I-20 AND SHE FINALLY PUT ALL AVAILABLE FUNDS UNDER GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP. PLEASE ADVICE I wrote sch if i can start online or i defer till Spring,YET TO GET BACK. Sorry about the denial. I noticed you talked to much but mostly spewing word that doesn't connect and very generic. Are you married? I am married with three kids. This is a yes or no response. You mentioned three children and you encouraged the VO to ask another question on the children. Also, does what you filled for your B1/B2 application tally in times with your F1. Do you have three children then too? Even with full ride scholarships the 3 children tells the VO you have lots of responsibility & I am not sure you had full ride cos I noticed you mentioned personal savings. To be sincere a lot of things needs to be set right if you choose to go for another interview. The US embassy is not where to rush to but address the possible red flags before reapplying & you also didn't help yourself by not posting the school. I am sure if you are going to an ivy league you would have posted...lol |

Hemingway: You dnt need to do any photocopies of all the documents you need. The US embassy is not a document Embassy. Your i-20, IP, Appointment letter, DS-160 confirmation, Offer letter, GA letter/ Sponsorship evidence( Bank Statement) are needed. Just take the print out copy with you and you should be fine.
Thank you so much !!! You are welcome |

Hemingway: Good morning academic minds,
I will be going for my interview in Abuja next week.
Please do I need to photocopy my documents? If yes how many copies or sets ?
At what point do I need to do the documentation?
Do they accept stapled documents or I should not staple at all?
I will so much appreciate a good feedback especially from someone who has done his/her interview.
Thanks alot! You dnt need to do any photocopies of all the documents you need. The US embassy is not a document Embassy. AydotNX: I have read a lot of helpful information on this group and my question is ,after been rejected in June I have tried to reapply but available date is December . My program start August 27. My emergency reschedule mail was denied. Please what can I do? Can I start program online for Fall session, with almost full funding or I should just defer till spring 2022? If your program involves courses you can start online you can go ahead. However, you dnt need to give up now. Keep close tabs with dates. This is just July 3rd so there are chances that regular dates will open in July. |

Duisburg: Hello guys,
I am about to defer my admission to spring 2022. Can I still request for I-20 and keep my visa processing on if I make this step, or would I have to wait till spring? When you defer you will need a new I-20. You can keep the visa processing on but be mindful you can only enter the US 30days to your program start date after your VISA is approved. |

However, a strong 2:1 or a first class would have been really nice. You should start preparing for the GRE and ace it well. Also, check Google for free Wes iGPA calculator to get an estimate of your GPA on a 4.0 scale. You have lots of work to do. Start now. All the best! |

osadestiny: LONG POST AHEAD!!
Hello all, a very happy Fathers day to all the fathers in the house and a happy Sunday to all of us. Please I would love to say I am going for my interview on the 28th of June in abuja, this is going to be my 4th time. I have been refused 3 times now, once in Lagos consulate and two times in abuja embassy. I am praying for the lord to help me this time around because I have made some errors in the past.
First interview in Lagos 31st of December 2020 Vo: how old are you? Note: Undergraduate studies Me: I am 22. Vo: how come at the age of 22 you were able to travel to Congo, Kenya and Ghana for a missionary work? Me: yes after my high school I went for a missionary service for my church which I did for two years. Vo: okay I see, so were you paid during this missionary work? Me: no it was a voluntary missionary service. Vo: where are you going to? Me: I am going to xxxy for my xxxx Vo: why this school and what will the degree do for you? Me: I explained as I was directed to the extent that the Vo continue nodding his head. Vo: so how will you be paying for your studies, my COA was $34,000 Me: meanwhile in the place where it was stated who will be paying for the trip in my ds-160, I went to put self sponsor thinking it was just only the flight ticket. I told the Vo that my father will be my sponsor. Vo: what does he do Me: he works in a microfinance bank Vo: did he gave you any of his financial documents? Me: yes he did, handed his bank statement Vo: he went through it and then said is this the same bank your dad works with? Me: I never expected that question because I knew that microfinance bank was different from other banks so the Vo was thinking it was a regular bank, I told him No that this not the bank he works with. Vo: he then asked me his position in the work Me: I told him Vo: he typed for so long, I was thinking I would be granted then he handed the blue paper that I am not eligible for this visa.
I dropped my transcript, some people told me I wouldn't have used microfinance as the occupation of my father, I then deferred to the fall semester and reapplied again in abuja.
Second attempt in Abuja. Vo: have you traveled outside Nigeria before Me: yes, I have been to Kenya, Congo and Ghana for a missionary service Vo: who is sponsoring your studies and what is the occupation of your sponsor Me: my dad, I told the vo that my dad is into sales of vehicles, which I didn't mention in the first interview Vo: he immediately checked my i-20, he glanced through it, I am sure he checked my COA of $34,000 then he just gave me back my documents that I am not eligible.
Third attempt still in abuja ( this time around I used a different school, for this very school I had a tuition waiver of $5,000 and the deficit was $20,000 going for undergraduate (
Vo: I see you have a scholarship, well that's good. So where are you going to Me: I am going to xxxxy for my xxxxy Vo: how did you hear about this school Me: from a colleague during my missionary service Vo: who is sponsoring you and what does your sponsor do? Me: I still repeated what I said in the second interview that my dad is the sponsor and he is into the sales of vehicles in my city. Vo: typed for so long then handled the green paper. He said I am so sorry but you are still not eligible for this visa at this time.
I gathered myself again and then I reapplied gotten a date now and it going to be on the 28th of June that is 8 days from now. I know I changed the occupation of my father when I was asked in the second and third attempt of my interview. But this was because of what people told me about microfinance workers that it wouldn't convince the Vo enough so that was the reason I had to use the sales of vehicles, my dad does that too but that is not his primary occupation. I know the first Vo recorded the occupation I said in the first interview but I don't know if may is because of this that i was denied and I am going for the 4th time, my deficit is not too big compared to the one I used in the first interview. This very one is $20k. Please I need you to advice me on what to do in next interview on Monday the 28th of junr regarding my sponsor. Please your contributions will really help me, it took me a lot of courage for me to continue this journey I almost gave up. Please I need all of your help on this. @fairheart, Twoods and the rest of you all Why did you suddenly change what your Dad does in your 2nd attempt. I hope you have not made drastic changes to your DS-160? It is clear your issue for denial is sponsorship though I dnt know what you fill in your DS-160. The next time you can say your father works in the position in micro-finance bank and is also into sales of vehicles worth NXXX with brands such as YYYY and ZZZZ. He has branches in so and so states. VO can ask who manages the vehicle company because he is also working in a bank....You should defend this. You should take the company account statement and your Dad's personal statement next time so that the VO can have an idea of your dad's financial standing. Best! |

Tbill: Hi Guys, Been very silent on the thread So here is my transcript.
Visa approved in Lagos School: UNC Chapel Hill- Kenan Flagler Business School Program: MBA COA: $93k Business School Fellowship: $70k Custom Graduate Loan: $23k
I had some worries before the interview: 1. I have once been denied a student visa to Canada and a visiting visa to USA 2. My wife is currently on OPT 3. I took a graduate loan
Interview at 8:30am;
V.O: Good morning sir Me: Good morning to you.
V.O: kindly pass me your I-20 and passport Me: I passed same as requested.
V.O: What school are you going to and what course: Me: I am going to the University of North Carolina, at Chapel hill for my masters in business administration
V.O: How does this fit into your career plans. Me: I currently have a wealth of experience in the Nigerian banking industry but my career goal in the senior management position is to focus on investment banking, Therefore the MBA program would develop my investment banking skills so I can provide superior investment advise to businesses in my home country who are involved in the development of capital projects. Such projects includes; The Eko Atlantic City, Lagos Light Rail and Lekki Free trade zone
V.O: After your MBA, would you be staying with your current company or you plan to move to another firm. Me: I definitely would be returning to my current place of work as I would be taking up a senior management position. My company is currently evolving into a holding structure wherein the investment arm is being set up, hence I will be better positioned with the knowledge gained through the MBA for the investment role
V.O: What is your wife doing in the US Me: My wife just got her MBA degree last month from *** and commenced her OPT program which ends in June 2022. After the OPT, She intends to return to Nigeria and take up a middle management role at **** bank which she already interviewed for. She had agreed with her new employer to resume in July 2022 just after her OPT program
And then the magical word, I have approved your Visa, blah blah blah. Honestly! I zoned out.
Special thanks to God almighty. And many thanks to my wife. @pefuele and @doyinsolar you guys rock.
P.S Though I know a lot of people are censoring their school details, but I have tried to be as detailed as possible so it could be of help to MBA aspirants. Especially those in doubt of the acceptability of graduate loan at the embassy. I also learnt so much from this forum. Congrats sir. |

Taylorwhite: F1 Visa Approved
Venue: Lagos 16 june 2021 Time:6:45am but I was interview around pass 7am Course: Master's in accounting with a concentration in corporate accounting School: university of xyz COA:32,025$ funding: 5,345$ Deficit: 26,679
My interview was an expression of God's grace, mercy and love. I was interviewed by white man who was in the business of refusing visa, although there were just three window open for interview the remaining two window give student enough time to express themselve, but the white man that interviewed did not give student time to explain themselves at most 2min then denial. When I got to the embassy I started sing praise to God all through my screening and biometric, especially when I saw people well spoken confident and bold denied. Atleast 13 person went before me, 8 of them were interviewed by the white man that interviewed me, only one got the visa. The rest denied . What I noticed was people were too bold and they started with generic answer and the visa officer are used to it already. Can't remember the window number, but the white man shld be in his early50s or late 40s. Although I was praying the black woman interview me because she gives time and she bit nice, guys have to be careful what we pray for, though I went to the white man at the centre who issuing denial so I just went with the mind set of get my blue paper but at list let me put up with a fight. When got to the windon the man did not even look at my face but I made sure I greeted him first then ask for my passport and i20. I noticed I was so calm and expecting the worse so I did not say too much.
Me: Good morning sir
Vo: Good morning, pass me your passport and I-20 Vo: pls can you tell me why you going to us Me: I'm going for my master's degree in accounting with a concentration in corporate accounting at the university of xyz USA.

I would have the invaluable opportunity to be mentored by professor **** who is an expert in the field, am an ardent reader of book and journal which has created a path to achieving my short term career goal of taking up the position as a senior corporate accountant. Strongly believe working with professor ***** will give me the necessary exposure that help gain expert knowledge to start up my management consulting firm.

Greatnnamdi: Yes, good school with a long list of course offering without Msc in Mechanical Engineering. When you check for courses you should be flexible. Dnt just check for ME. You can check for schools doing general Engineering and with ME as an option or doing General Engineering with a field you are particularly interested in as option. I know most ME guys like additive manufacturing...This is key when you are looking for funding. Industrial Engineering is infact more lucrative and well funded though IE is becoming more competitive now because of their great job placement. Lots of indians in ME are doing IE now. You can check North Carolina A and T University. Good-luck! |

Greatnnamdi: Good evening great people with great mindset.
My interest is to get more information about the likely good possibility of studying either Bsc (Mechanical Engineering) or Msc.(Mechanical Engineering) in us.
For Bsc. I was talking to a professor dean of Mechanical engineering of a public school in Montana about if they accept WES Evaluation of transcript for acceptance into Msc. He said that they do but for HND evaluation that it is equivalent to there associate degree in college and that I can only be qualified for transfer to complete a bachelor's degree program.
He was like it will be more preferable to study with transfer and I was trying to make my point about WES. He said that there are plenty Africans from Nigeria and many from Ghana who are there students, that he has even visited Nigeria (Delta state).
I was even trying to enquire about GA/TA scholarships and he said that they are mainly reserved for PhD students.
So my question now is : 1. Is going for Bachelors degree on transfer (they said is 3rd year) advisable for a good career prospective. 2. Financing is another challenge I see people have been throwing in there experiences here with also visa challenge and interview on sponsorship, if am going to source for loan, is it a good move for visa acceptance. 4. I see also that people are complaining about age barrier and also (my HND is 5 years old now) for undergraduate US study based on visa approval in the embassy. 5. Any good chance of making it with the US bachelor if I graduate.
Please, I welcome a good guideline and experience.
Thank you. Montana is just one out of 50 states in the US. Check other states too. You will see universities that accepts WES. Check St.Cloud state University in Minnesota. |
