In every professional exam i.e MB exams you write and get above 70 in any course, you get "bragging rights" in your CV.

That said, 70 above is so almost impossible to get, it can nearly always be achieved only in pre clinicals.

However, doctors are generally judged by their ability to solve problems and not by distinctions.

After the Pre-med year( 100 level), med student don't run semesters anymore. Therefore there can be no CGPA scale. Each course is broadly assessed by a combination of several tests end of course exams and practicals and graded into Fail < 50, Pass 50 - 70 and Distinction from 70 above.

Hope you get it now?

so if I averaged 70 throughout my stay in med school, how does that set my apart from my colleagues who averaged 50 after graduation?

The kind of seed to be sown depends on the type of soil. Our education system needs to realize the comprehension ability of students/pupils and tailor their teaching techniques to suit each individual needs or pattern. Be patient, I know how you feel. At times you might even feel like abusing the kid and walk away, but don't do it. With patience and persistence, even the dumbest child can be turned into a guru!

I teach in a certain primary school and I'm maniacally bewildered regarding the level of dullness some pupils exhibit.
I try so hard to teach these ones simple sum over and over again; ask them this sum in the next second and you'll get a frustrating answer.One pupil was over 12 and could not even read decently.

And i ask why?
Is it that "dullness" is genetically inclined or environmentally induced?
