Politics"The Office Of The Vice President Under APC Will Not Be A "Spare Tyre" -OSINBAJO by pendy79(op): 3:29pm On Feb 02, 2015
THE Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, said the office of the Vice President under an APC will not be a "spare tyre" .

A statement issued by the APC Presidential Campaign organisation signed by the media director, Alhaji Garba Shehu quoted Osinbajo as saying this at a parley with health care professionals under the auspices of the Health Care Federation of Nigeria on Sunday in Lagos.

Osinbajo said that the party had made adequate plans to ensure that the National Economic Council, which is under the office of the Vice President, was made a vibrant body in line with the provisions of the constitution.

The statement also quoted Osinbajo as saying that an APC government would partner with the private sector for effective healthcare delivery.

He said the party would also ensure the lowering of the cost of funds to provide easy access to capital, to address the crisis in the power sector and expend a minimum of one billion dollars on health insurance.

The APC Vice Presidential candidate said that corruption would be tackled head-on as a first step to tackling the nation's myriad of problems.

"We have to deal with corruption very seriously," he said.

He said that the party's free education policy which would in the first instance be available at primary and secondary school levels, and later extended to tertiary levels but limited to science, technology, engineering, maths and education. (NAN)

However, he said that not every incident warrant arrest. “Do not forget it is not at every instance you arrest someone, sometimes, the best you do is to prepare yourselves, get your evidence first. “When you have your evidence, then you go into arrest. Arrest should normally come after the investigations, investigations are ongoing,’’ he said.

the above quote indicate the problem with the eroding of the Powers of our National Institutions by the PDP.

In the words of the IG, not everybody can be arrested for making Inflammatory Statements, not if you made the statements in the Bayelsa State Government House and your statement is supportive of the President you all worship and adore and you're not a member of the APC like El-Rufai.

The IG needs evidence for something shown on NAtionAL Television before he acts with even the PDP Publicity Secretary distancing the party from the outburst of the so called militANTs who will find their squareroot when a proper President comes in by May 29 2015.

Nigeria is a joke of a country.
PoliticsInflammatory Statements: Police Begins Investigation – Police I.G by pendy79(op): 3:12pm On Feb 02, 2015
The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Suleiman Abba, said on Sunday that the force had begun investigation into inflammatory statements allegedly made some Niger-Delta ex-militants. Abba said this while fielding questions from newsmen shortly after the inauguration of some operational vehicles for police by President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja.

On whether the police need formal complaint on those statements, Abba said that the force did not need any formal complaint. “I am not aware that any of my officers have said that you require complaint over that – inflammatory statements by ex-militants. “Like I said investigations are going on, when it is the time to arrest, we will effect arrest,’’ the I-G said. On political thuggery, Abba said that all those involved in the act during political campaign rallies had been arrested, except the incidents in Rivers state, which were still being investigated. “There is no single incident during political rallies that arrests have not been made, except like I said earlier one or two incidents in Rivers, which investigation is still going on. “In all other incidents arrests have been made, even when the courts were on strike, we were still able to make arrangements where they (thugs) were properly secured. “Now that some of the courts are back, prosecution has already commenced in that regard, but remember it is not in every state that we witness thuggery,’’ he said. The I-G, who said that none of the political rallies had been disrupted by act of thuggery, expressed happiness that the exercise was gradually coming to an end. “Most of the leaders of the political parties have sent commendations to the fact that we are able to provide sufficient security for them.

It goes beyond what you think. There is a leadership struggle in the hierarchy of the Rivers State judiciary with the PDP trying to foist the sister of one its chieftain as the Rivers State Chief Judge and Amaechi standinf his ground that as the State Governor he has the powers to either accept or reject the recommendation of the National Judiciary Council.

The orchestra bombing and arson is to destroy and show Amaechi they have the Federal Might behind them as was the case in the forceful stadium Usage without paying for it yet refusing to clean up after using it.

They want to create anarchy and siege mentality in Rivers and it is clear to anyone following the actions of the patience JonaTAN and Wike in Rivers.

THE Rivers State High Court at Degema, Degema Local Government Area, was engulfed by fire in the early hours of today.

Eyewitnesses said the fire started at about 4.00 am, but the cause of the inferno could not be ascertained.

Almost all parts of the building were destroyed in the fire, which started barely 48 hours after the directive from the JUSUN to judiciary workers to resume duties.

Anybody who watched the so called debate and have debated once or twice in his life will know the difference between looking through keypoints to get figures and outright reading from prepared scripts.

He wasn't flipping through or having difficulty in getting where the points are but he had every answer arranged to the way the questions were asked. It was a clear case of just READING A PREPARED SPEECH..

I just changed the channel when he did same thing with the 4th round of questioning. It was an arrangee DEBATE with EXPO.

The PDP has a stupidity that radiates from its highest levels. The party is pathetically lacking in intellect. They have 6 ministers from the academia who have worked with foreign development agencies but that is all. It is just a party of cheap crooks, trader turned emergency manufacturers, government treasury looters and fuel subsidy thieves in private jets. The debate is symbolic. The VP has prepared texts synchronized with questions all taken from the PDP manifesto. How can a party insult the intelligence of Nigerians this way. The only people who enjoyed the debate are state civil servants in Enugu, Onitsha and Awka and a few government workers in Abuja.
silly he could not even memorize and add finesse to his points but was frequently looking at the chits he had on his table to dictate like it was a PROJECT COMMISIONING that he was doing.

Let the NBA or other professional bodies without party affiliation prepared a debate like is done elsewhere with reasonable and damn intelligent questions. This one by NEDG is shambolic like the SAMBO in it

Watching the Vice Presidential Debate of the so called NEDG and I found it hilarious and stupid that of the 3 debaters, only the candidate of the PDP, Vice President Nemadi Sambo is looking down to his desk often and it is obvious he is reading a prepared chit for the debate cos he seems to have the questions to the Debate already prepared for him and all he is doing is to read it along.

Watch his response and compare to the other two beside him, they are facing the audience when responding while Sambo is always looking to his table as if he is giving a speech.

It is obvious, the APC was right and this debate was a charade all along.

Watching it live and it is hilarious and so funny and daft that they can't teach him what to say despite seeing the questions, he still brought in the Chits into the Hall

Pendy79 and podosci, I enjoyed you guys analysis, I must say I have enriched myself from all your comment, well grounded and articulated. The problem with Nigerians is that we don't face fact, we prefer to Decieve ourselves, it obvious right from onset Nigerian Army can't fight insurgency, I wonder why dey can't take the fight to boko haram and wipe them off, instead dey prefer to wait for those BH boys to attack and kill harmless civilians, claim territories, barracks. Etc. It really a big shame! Jonathan and his corrupt criminal gang have destroy Nigeria completely!
I have watch several videos of boko haram attacks, most cases Nigerian army usually get the info before attacks but they seems complacent and scared, immediately BH attacks they run leaving behind their weapons and armoury warehouse, most even remove there uniforms even before the attacks, that a disgrace.
Solution: there is only one solution in stopping this insurgency, and that is comes febuary 14th, Nigerians both old and young should come out and vote a veteran who can get the job done and that is General Buhari! We should issue a red card to the Commander in Chief, VP, CAS, and CDS. We should put sentiment aside and face the reality, we just can't afford to miss this opportunity, another Buhari might not emerge again so pls let vote wisely!

God bless Prof Osibanjo!
God bless General Buhari!
God bless APC!
God bless Nigeria!
Thanks for the complement bro. Nigeria's problem isn't prayers not being answered but we allowed ourselves to be driven by parochial sentiments of religion and ethnic bigotry.

If Nigeria is better, it will be for the good and benefit of all. If you allow a poor, less populated, lower GDP, civil war ravaged and less developed country like Chad make military incursions into your territory without invitation or coordination with your own military then your National Security and Territorial Integrity is at risk.

The best defence of a Nation is DETERENCE AND FEAR OF YOUR CAPABILITY TO RESPOND WHEN ATTACKED., what North Korea, Iran and Russia are benefiting hugely from cos all their enemies are not sure of their military might.

But what the Chadian Army have done is to show the entire world how useless our Army and National Defence is like. It is totally not in existence. Chadians planes enter into our country and we have no radar to pick them up and no Airforce jets scrambled to intercept them to ask their mission.

Shame on Nigerian leadership from the political leaders to the military.

Russians jets enter the English channels last Thursday and the Royal Airforce was in the Air seconds after to intercept them and afterwards the Russian Envoy was summoned to Downing Street to explain, that's response.

Have the Nigerian leaders or military made any comment since the episode? NO.

Watch Niger Republic start getting ideas to seize Nigerian Territories soon.

I think we need to sign an undertaking with them, to ensure they retreat and not take the opportunity to pursue their own intentions
Sign undertaking? You don't mean it do you? You mean they should allow their own soldiers to die while yours run away from the front and the only thing they will tell the family of their soldiers is an undertaking for being a good neighbor.

Let face reality here, Chad under president habre their late former president led an incursion into Nigeria in 1982 I think, and killed some nigerian soldiers whilst laying claims.to same territories in Nigeria they are fighting seriously to liberate now.

Buhari then under whose division those soldiers were took it upon himself to liberate the territory hijacked and took on the Chadian Army killing and clearing them even up to the border of Libya before the OAU intervened and pleaded with president Shagari to rein in Buhari and his soldiers.

History has a way of repeating itself. Chad won't leave.with nothing, they had plans for those territories long long ago

Three soldiers and 123 Boko Haram militants were killed when the Islamist group attacked a Chadian army contingent in northern Cameroon, the Chadian military said.

Twelve soldiers were wounded in the attacks staged by the Islamists on Thursday and Friday near the border town of Fotokol, according to a military statement read out on national television.

Chad sent a convoy of troops and military vehicles into neighbouring Cameroon on January 17 to deal with the growing threat Boko Haram poses in the region.

"The enemy was repelled by our defensive forces," the general staff's statement said, adding that the troops had "routed" the Islamists in the second attack.

The soldiers were killed by improvised explosive devices, the statement said.

A senior Cameroonian security source said the Chadian troops were deployed to the town, which sits opposite a Nigerian town under Boko Haram control and is also close to the border with Chad, on Wednesday.

Boko Haram frequently stages attacks on Fotokol from their base in the Nigerian town of Gamboru, which is just 500 metres (yards) away.

Chad has called on countries in the region to form a broad coalition in the fight against the Islamist group. The country has already deployed its army along its borders as well as sending the additional contingent to Cameroon.

Chad's president Idriss Deby has also expressed intentions of taking back the strategic Nigerian town of Baga from Boko Haram, situated on Lake Chad.

The African Union called on Friday for a regional five-nation force of 7,500 troops to defeat the "horrendous" rise of Boko Haram.

"Terrorism, in particular the brutality of Boko Haram against our people, (is) a threat to our collective safety, security and development. This has now spread to the region beyond Nigeria and requires a collective, effective and decisive response," AU commission chair Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said in a speech opening the summit.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon told African leaders that Boko Haram was "a clear danger to national, regional and international peace and security".

The group's uprising has become a regional crisis, with the four directly affected countries -- Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Nigeria -- agreeing along with Benin to boost cooperation to contain the threat and to form a Multinational Joint Task Force.

More than 13,000 people have been killed and more than one million made homeless by Boko Haram violence since 2009.
