But I will try to continue giving insightful and meaningful commentary on the state of our nation as time and chance allow. Let us make it a duty to educate and enlighten at least a person a day to see the need why our country need to be rescued from the abyss of destruction the PDP has taken us to in the last 15 years. Nigeria’s former head of state, Muhammadu Buhari, who will declare for president this week under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), paid a courtesy visit to the governor of Lagos state, Babatunde Fashola on Sunday, in company of some of his key supporters like former speaker of House of Representatives, Aminu Bello Masari; former FCT minister, Nasir Elrufai; and former Bayelsa governor, TImipreye Sylva.

Nigeria: FOI - Diezani Sued Over Non-Disclosure of Oil Deals

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Mr Osita Okechukwu yesterday sued Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison Madueke at a federal high court in Abuja over her refusal to grant him access to information he requested under the freedom of information (FOI) Act.

Okechukwu had written the minister requesting information concerning Nigeria's crude oil swap variant and the certification of subsidy for the importation of kerosene and premium motor spirit PMS) into the country by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) from January 2012 to date.

He said yesterday in Abuja that the minister ignored the letter and refused the release of the information requested for.

He is seeking amongst others from the court declaration that the minister's refusal to release the information he requested for amounts to a violation of section 7 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act, and therefore, wrongful, illegal and unconstitutional.

No date has been fixed for hearing of the case.

SamIkenna: Fashola is a presidential material. Even with some visible blunders he's, by a wide margin, ahead of many of his peers. Obasanjo spent 8years on the seat and it will be selfish and an act of injustice to project another Yoruba man for same seat 8 years after in a country with 6 political zones.
